- Go to the station, put on goggles, turn on the scale
- Place the empty evaporation dish onto the scale, and record data.
- Add Approximately 2 grams of sample, record data again.
- Next obtain acid from dispensing bottle, obtain 10 ml by squeezing the bottle. Then transfer acid into beaker.
- Now, take the dropper and fill it up with acid from the beaker.
- Put watch glass over the top of the evaporating dish. And slowly add in the acids in the evaporating dish. Then swirl the evaporating dish. repeat 3 times.
- Now fill up the dropper one more time, this time slowly add one drop at a time to the sample. And wait for the sample to stop bubbling before adding another drop to the sample. Repeat until no more reaction is happening in the evaporating dish.
- Now take a wash bottle and rinse the under side of the watch glass into the evaporating dish.
- Then heat the evaporating dish with a bunsen burner. Until there is no liquid in there.
- After cooling off the evaporating dish, put it on the scale and record the final data.
