  1.
  2. Narrator has connected.
  3. Ma-Nyeo has connected.
  4. Avara has connected.
  5. Grace has connected.
  6. Narrator: Okay, you guys are the here. It has been a REAL LONG WHILE GUYS HOLY SHIT
  7. Ma-Nyeo: it has!
  8. Grace: Ye!
  9. Narrator: We are hella in need of a godsdamned recap.
  10. Avara: what year is it
  11. Narrator: So, let's do that thing.
  12. Narrator: RECAP
  13. While I read what happened last and realized my notes have been placed in a crate somewhere so I'm winging it tonight
  14. Avara: iirc last time we played, we contested the toughness of a bunch of locals and while the judges had occasionally weird standards, we proved they weren't too cool for school
  15. Judge 2: Don't judge me!
  16. Grace: And Anubis Dio'd a vulpix with a bolder!
  17. DNA: WRYYYYYYYYYYYY
  18. DNA: The contest went surprisingly well towards the end, despite a somewhat odd start, if memory serves.
  19. Avara: i was very happy with my intro round. it was fancy
  20. Avara: but not _too_ fancy
  21. Avara: but fancy enough
  22. Avara: to be tough
  23. Ma-Nyeo: we are also carrying an egg that is also not an egg.
  24. Ma-Nyeo: As far as we can tell it is egg like, but it can respond to touch and has some level of mobility.
  25. Grace: Oh! That's right, Sarah's luggin' the non-radioactive radioactive egg.
  26. Avara: hot hot leg, leg hot leg, leg so hot you fry an egg
  27. Officer Jenny: It's totally legal. Not. It's not legal. But you'll do me this solid, right? Yeah you will.
  28. Avara: and the nurse joy scolded her for it so bad
  29. Avara: so bad
  30. Narrator: Alright then. Are we good for the recap or do folks have anything to add?
  31. Ma-Nyeo: I thiiiink we're good.
  32. Avara: the gym isn't on fire yet.
  33. Ma-Nyeo: Oh, Glade is still resting at the pokemon center, as far as we know. And Ma-Nyeo wrote her a letter!
  34. Avara: yet.
  35. DNA: read as Glalie, for some reason.
  36. DNA: Ah yes, Glade is awaiting the human beans.
  37. Narrator: Right, speaking of: You guys agrees to challenge the Azure Gym. So. That is, in fact, what I have prepared for tonight. And with her Gym being the oddball that it is...W H O you're using is important for the challenge. As it basically sets up the challenge itself.
  38. Avara: maybe she'll be less headache-inducing now that she's gotten some sleep!! please?
  39. Ma-Nyeo: Miss Mallow!
  40. Narrator: Thus, last week, I asked what Pokemon you guys were going to use.
  41. DNA: I only own one Pokemon for the time being, so I shall be using it, Deep Blue!
  42. Narrator: So, uh, don't change that selection. Because yeh, I remember. It's kinda all over my Gym Map.
  43. Avara: i totally chose drampa, right?
  44. Narrator: And iffin' you guys decide to just say "Pfft, fuck the gym we changed our mind" I ain't got shit out planned for tonight beyond Viridian City. So uh, yeah maybe don't do that.
  45. Avara: doing the token upgrade for tokidoki now
  46. Grace: Oh! Right, Anubis is probably gonna be the more battle focused, so he'd go Gym.
  47. Narrator: You selected your Vulpix last week.
  48. Narrator: So I prepared for your Vulpix.
  49. Grace: THen Vulpix it is!
  50. Narrator: Alright, that being said:
  51. You guys one your first Contest. It wasn't a Ranked one but it still counts for the qualifiers. You have 1 win under your belt as a registered team. Sweet! Keep it up and you'll be in the Ranked Contests before you know it!
  52. Ma-Nyeo: We're famous!
  53. June 3rd, Tuesday.
  54. 72 degrees with an 80 degree humidity. It feels nice and is very humid.
  55. There's a 15mph wind blowing south.
  56. It is incredibly foggy.
  57. Time: 1:12 PM
  58. Avara: done
  59. DNA: So, where's the map at? I don't see it just yet.
  60. Narrator: You're on the Pallet Town map. o.o
  61. DNA: Oh, sorry. I meant the gym map
  62. Narrator: I didn't reveal it yet.
  63. DNA: That would be why
  64. Narrator: You guys kinda didn't go there yet.
  65. DNA: Ah, I see it must be traveled to the old-fashioned way.
  66. Avara: but i don't want to walk, my feet are tired, it's too far, i didn't get my coffee today, it's too sunny, it's not sunny enough, there's a mean-looking sun in the sky, carry me
  67. DNA: No, Mario, no mean suns will stopy ou
  68. Skitty: Skitty snickers in your general direction.
  69. DNA: I wondered when that gigantic Skitty got there
  70. Narrator: It's always been there son
  71. Avara: it has a couple of statuses on it
  72. Avara: what are?
  73. Narrator: It was asleep.
  74. Narrator: Because it didn't care.
  75. Ma-Nyeo: Wasn't it the one that kept rolling over and falling asleep?
  76. Narrator: Yep.
  77. Narrator: Also it's "Small" size.
  78. Narrator: So, technically, it's the size of a dog.
  79. DNA: Oh. Right, giant by comparison. Whoops.
  80. Hotaru Joy: "So, the next plan was... the gym, right?"
  81. Cassiopeia: "I believe so, yes. We don't have anything else pressing we need to do outside of town just yet, do we?"
  82. Sarah: "Yeah! Anubis got some good hits in, but time to show off my baby girl~!" He'd pout a bit, but he'll shrug and give a lazy thumbs up.
  83. Hotaru Joy: "Tokidoki'll have to take care of the gym too. I'll make it up to Calypso by letting her handle anything she wants in the next town, but here is... still probably a bad idea."
  84. Ma-Nyeo: "Miss Mallow is a little lacking in energy... Can we stop by the Mart first to buy an ether?"
  85. Ma-Nyeo: ((I can just grab the ethers from the price in the book and catch back up, if we don't want to risk delays...))
  86. Narrator: I'm fine with that.
  87. Ma-Nyeo: Buying 4 ethers.
  88. Hotaru Joy: (( i'm pretty sure there would be delays yes ))
  89. DNA: I can think of at least three...
  90. Sarah: No issues here
  91. Nurse Joy: Because I'm here...
  92. Young Jenny: Because I'm here...
  93. Glade: I'm awake! Because the sun's awake! And you're awake!
  94. Miss Mallow: 8 Aura!
  95. Miss Mallow: Miss Mallow is recovers 8 power.
  96. DNA: See, there's the three right there.
  97. Miss Mallow: 8
  98. Miss Mallow: Miss Mallow is recovers 6 power.
  99. Klefki: Reminder from Route 1.
  100. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo makes short work of her shopping with overeager demands for ethers! She practically runs back out of the center to meet with her friends again!
  101. Ma-Nyeo: "Ready, lets go.."
  102. Carbink: Also Reminder from Route 1.
  103. Staryu 1: I'm also on Route 1 & 2. So hah
  104. Narrator: Okay I'm done.
  105. Avara: oh no, it's water satan!
  106. Ma-Nyeo: Calypso and glade are outside?
  107. Avara: no
  108. Narrator: Nope. >_>
  109. Ma-Nyeo: okey
  110. Avara: ease of access for tokens 's all
  111. Avara: uhh.... white queen?
  112. Avara: thankuu kao
  113. Avara: DNA you there?
  114. DNA: I'm here!
  115. DNA: I was reading to catch up, and distracted by popotos.
  116. DNA: Not in that order.
  117. Avara: ah
  118. Avara: we're west of you
  119. Narrator: Browsing the internet tends to distract you
  120. Narrator: Yeah sure. I guess that works too
  121. Avara: ?
  122. Avara: but no seriously what?
  123. Cassiopeia: "So, this is the gym..." Cassiopeia mumbled to nobody in particular.
  124. Narrator: For Ava: Jumping beyond movement limits.
  125. Avara: seriously what narrator said sounds like someone fucked up and i'm inclined to think it's me
  126. Avara: ahkay.
  127. Narrator: Everyone did. It's 'kay.
  128. * Hotaru Joy hesitates to make sure the GM isn't about to order a time rewind, then opens the door.
  129. Narrator: Oh yeah. You guys are at the Gym. It's there. Big. And roundish. Kinda half sphere shape. Automatic sliding plexiglass (fuck your pokemon attacks) doors that responds to the presence of your souls.
  130. Narrator: Souls yes. Because Ghosts are jerks sometimes.
  131. Ma-Nyeo: (( that's racist against vampires ))
  132. * Hotaru Joy enters! Not all that dramatically, she just wants to see what's up, doc.
  133. Avara: only some vampires lack souls
  134. Avara: others have their souls bound to their corpses, denied forever the passing into heaven or hell
  135. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo follows after Hotaru, Miss Mallow on her shoulder.
  136. Narrator: As you enter the area of the gym you walk into...absolute astonishing high-end comforts.
  137. Avara: oh my god it's made of plush
  138. * Cassiopeia is the last to enter, behind Sarah.
  139. Narrator: Soft carpet floors, luxury fluffy couches and sofas, finely scented aromas, gentle light illuminating a spacious room with large inwardly curved television sets and plushie tables adorned with filling snacks.
  140. Narrator: Relaxing in these comforts are four Trainers. Three males and one female
  141. Avara: boo, it's a naruto team
  142. Azure Trainer 3: Azure Trainer 3 notices you enter and forces himself to stand from such luxury comforts and stretches, "Hnngggg!! Okay, okay..." Azure Trainer 3 inhales deeply, "Welcome to the Azure Gym! I am Mister Reed and shall be your first obstacle to obtaining your Azure Badge!"
  143. Sarah: "Dang, this place is super fancy. We don't have Gyms back home... yet."
  144. Azure Trainer: Azure Trainer rolls her eyes as he speaks.
  145. Azure Trainer 2: "Edward...perhaps don't act without the Gym Leaders permission?"
  146. Azure Trainer 3: "Nonsense! That's what we're here for! We're Trainers, they enter, our eyes met - we battle!"
  147. Azure Trainer 1: "What is this? The 90's?"
  148. Azure Trainer: Azure Trainer yanks Edward back down into the couch and stands up, "Hi." Azure Trainer waves quickly to your group, "You guys just tourists or what?"
  149. Azure Trainer 3: "My ba---ohhh so comfortable." Azure Trainer 3 says as he sinks into the fluff.
  150. Hotaru Joy: "We are here for a challenge, though I was kind of curious what the gym's all about first. This is surprisingly comfortable."
  151. Ma-Nyeo: "Is getting inside to the gym the first challenge?" Ma-Nyeo thought, "The weak-willed trainers get distracted and lay around?"
  152. Ma-Nyeo: **thought out loud
  153. Azure Trainer 3: "Hey! I am not....but this is really comfortable...I take offense to that anyway!"
  154. Sarah: "...It honsetly does look pretty comfortable Ma."
  155. Azure Trainer: "Not quite. How familiar are you guys with the Kanto's league since the calamity?"
  156. Ma-Nyeo: "I only watch the contests..."
  157. Hotaru Joy: "I know it's color-themed and tends to have a moral of some kind?"
  158. Cassiopeia: "Not at all unfortunately. I've only just come in from abroad."
  159. Azure Trainer: "Well, if you're familiar with the Contests at all you should know that every single Gym Leader in the Kanto region are Elite members of the Contest Hall. They make up half of the Grand Hall contestants. So, know that Coordinators are well respected in the Rainbow League."
  160. Cassiopeia: "My. So Contest Halls and Gyms have a fair bit of overlap at higher levels?"
  161. Azure Trainer: "Secondly, you are correct about the Rainbow Leagues theme of color over the old leagues theme of Types."
  162. Azure Trainer: "The Azure Gym, as its name implies, is based around Blue Pokémon - though it's actually pretty rare that anyone battles Ann.
  163. Sarah: Sarah will look down at Anubis, "You'd fit right in then wouldn't ya buddy?"
  164. Azure Trainer: "If you actually battle Ann herself, or any of us for that matter, you've already failed our gym challenge. Combat with our gym members are basically the 'make up' version of our gym challenge. And we only allow challenges to our gym once a week."
  165. Cassiopeia: "So, is it only that the gym trainers use blue Pokemon, or is there some advantages to the challengers bringing blue Pokemon as well?"
  166. Azure Trainer: "Lastly, all the gyms in the Rainbow League directly deal with some sort of value. In our case, the theme is Blue and the value is Love. Viridian City's Gym theme is Yellow and the value is Knowledge."
  167. Deep Blue: "I thought Yellow was Avarice..." Deep Blue whispered to itself.
  168. Azure Trainer: "There's no advantage to you restricting yourself to a color. A theme was just required for the overall gym challenge and limiting yourself to one Type made it far too easy for challengers to counter the Gyms theme and it ended up with a really weird meta involving the gyms counters to the counters to the counters to their theme."
  169. Azure Trainer: "Regardless, you're actual challengers to our gym! Not the first but still within the first 10! So it's pretty cool for us. You'll want to head deeper in and talk to the secretary of affairs."
  170. Ma-Nyeo: "O-okay."
  171. Azure Trainer: Azure Trainer motions to the door leading into the next room.
  172. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo trots off to the door.
  173. Cassiopeia: Cassiopeia walked in the direction of the door as well, musing that she didn't remember her home region's gyms having an application process...
  174. Sarah: Sarah will wander after, pickin' up anubis and setting him on her shoulder, super curious as to what the hell these gyms are like at this point.
  175. Narrator: Beyond the door you see a very small room with a single desk and a silver haired young man sitting at it and typing on a rather expensive looking cpu.
  176. * Hotaru Joy proceeds!
  177. Ma-Nyeo: "Hi do we talk to you to challenge the gym?"
  178. Duboi: Duboi glances to you and swipes at the screen, clearing it of any text and nods, "Damn right, son!"
  179. Duboi: "Call me Duboi. I'll be your 'handler' so to speak for the challenge here. All the actual bits and bobs will be oversaw by Miss Ann, sound fair?'
  180. Avara: duboi. du boi. duh boy. the boy.
  181. Ma-Nyeo: " . . . " Ma-Nyeo stares. " . . yes."
  182. Duboi: (( This is a real name ))
  183. Hotaru Joy: "What does a handler do for a gym?"
  184. Duboi: "Awright! Lemme just let Miss Ann know you're here so she can set up shop."
  185. DNA: Is it pronounced du-BWA or du-BOI?
  186. Duboi: (( latter ))
  187. DNA: Dam
  188. Cassiopeia: "...'handler'?"
  189. Duboi: Duboi stares into a void for a moment, "Alright, there's four of you gals, right? You gals going all in at once, or separately? Miss would like to know."
  190. Sarah: "What's the benefit for either?""
  191. Duboi: "Privacy. Time. Maybe both."
  192. Hotaru Joy: "We're a team, so we'll go in together."
  193. Ma-Nyeo: "Yes, yes."
  194. Duboi: "Awright." Duboi stares off into a void, "Okay. Miss Ann restricts you all to a single Pokemon. Please note that while you are in the facility, all of your Poke Balls will be entirely disabled. Opening, recalling, etc. So please, select and call out your Pokemon you'll be using for the event at this moment."
  195. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo looks at her shoulder.
  196. Miss Mallow: "I am already present."
  197. Cassiopeia: "My soldier of choice is at my side and ready."
  198. Duboi: "Oh, and be sure to recall other pokemon you aren't using."
  199. * Tokidoki waves.
  200. Tokidoki: "tokidokidokokidokitokitodo."
  201. Sarah: "I'm golden with my foxy. Would I have to stash anubis? Can he stay out of the ball or...?"
  202. Duboi: "At least for this event, please recall Anubis."
  203. Sarah: "Alright that's fair. Alright big guy, you get some time off." She'll say before booping him with the ball, and then letting out Suzy, who is just content laying there. Sarah just picks her up. "She'll be able to get in a fighting mood if we get to one."
  204. Duboi: "Awright then, sounds good." Duboi stands up and looks around the room before motioning dismissively to the door you used to enter, which just retracts into the floor, "Miss Ann thinks you'll need a bigger room with individual facilities."
  205. Duboi: Duboi motions in a pushing manner to the wall and they - literally - slide away from him until the area is rather large, "And for your facilities..." Duboi snaps his fingers at each individual wall and a hallway forms at each.
  206. Duboi: "Miss Ann?" Duboi asks as he turns to the corner of the room.
  207. Ma-Nyeo: Perception to notice Miss Ann 2+1+5+7=15
  208. Ann: Ann is leaning against the wall with her arms folded as she looks over you four, "Four challengers as a group? Now, this is a first I must say."
  209. Ann: Ann takes a few steps into the room but still remains by the corner, "Duboi, offer their Pokémon some cake coffee to attune them to the challenges."
  210. Duboi: Duboi lifts his hand at the center of the room where a blue clothed table rises with four cups of cake coffee clattering into place.
  211. Deep Blue: "Cake coffee? ...How is that different from coffee cake?"
  212. DNA: I blinked and saw what looked like bone marrow
  213. Sarah: "Is it cake flavored coffee, or coffee flavored cake?"
  214. Duboi: "For starters, it's a hot liquid."
  215. DNA: Ah, there it is
  216. Ann: "Your Pokemon will need to consume one cup of cake coffee to attune to the challenges here. It's basically poffins in liquid form - so you needn't worrry about it harming your Pokemon."
  217. Miss Mallow: "Ah, poffins. I see, I was wondering."
  218. Cassiopeia: "What's in them? Pardon me for being apprehensive, but I'm usually a bit suspicious of people offering me tasty food that doesn't have 'Eat Me' written on it."
  219. Sarah: "That's not too bad. And Suzy probably needs a pick me up. She gets especailly lazy when she spends a short while in the ball... Also how does Blue even drink?"
  220. Ann: "Poffins, distilled water, food coloring, sugar and heated for 104 degrees."
  221. Cassiopeia: "That's remarkably specific, thank you."
  222. Ann: (( to 104 ))
  223. Deep Blue: "It's difficult due to the lack of limbs, but I manage. I might need a straw though."
  224. Sarah: "Fair enough."
  225. Tokidoki: Tokidoki stepped into place, drinking up her cake coffee with some help from Hotaru, due to the less-than-wonderful nature of her hands.
  226. Miss Mallow: Miss Mallow takes hers and drapes her ragdoll around it. Sounds were heard. Then the ragdoll stepped away from a prestine cup.
  227. Narrator: Will need descriptions from your consumption DNA and Grace.
  228. Cassiopeia: Cassiopeia produces a straw and takes one cup, holding it for Deep Blue. In as discreet of a manner as possible, Deep Blue attempts to hide behind Cassiopeia as the cup is gradually emptied with the method (and noise) of a conveyor belt.
  229. Suzy: Suzy will take a little waking up, but the scent of the drink piques her interests, and she'll start to sip from it. Once she's done from it, she'll seem just as lazy.
  230. Narrator: The hallways whirr to the life once all the cake coffee's have been consumed.
  231. Ann: "Hm...interesting. I didn't expect that outcome."
  232. Duboi: Duboi points to Hotaru and Cassiopeia, "These two miss?"
  233. Ann: "Yep." Ann steps closer to the center of the room, "I didn't tell you but your gym challenge had already begun the moment you began conversation with Duboi."
  234. Cassiopeia: "So I'd gathered. That explains the trainers at the entrance who mentioned if we fought with Ann, we would have failed already."
  235. Ann: "To bring you up to speed:
  236. Hotaru has 1.
  237. Ma-Nyeo has 1.
  238. Sarah has -1.
  239. Cassiopeia has 2."
  240. Ann: "I won't tell you if positive or negative is good. But what you have now affects the next challenge."
  241. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo fidgets...
  242. Duboi: Duboi chuckles, "Miss Ann you're ruthless today..."
  243. Ann: Ann shrugs, "They're a group. I feel outnumbered and uncomfortable...no reason to hold back."
  244. Sarah: "Aw what?"
  245. Miss Mallow: Miss Mallow returns to Ma-Nyeo's shoulder.
  246. Ann: "Cassiopeia, your challenge is to the north."
  247. Ann: "Ma-Nyeo, your challenge is to the east."
  248. Ann: "Sarah, your challenge is to the south."
  249. Hotaru Joy: Hotaru shrugged. She wasn't going to be ashamed of her choices, whatever the result ended up being.
  250. Ann: "Hotaru your challenge is to the west."
  251. Ann: "I only have 1 requirement for you all when you enter those rooms."
  252. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo goes to the door and watches everyone else, to make sure she's doing the right thing.
  253. Sarah: Sarah will huff at the -1, but she'll still gently pick up Suzy. "What's that?"
  254. Ann: "Don't damage the machine that's in there. Specifically the one for pushing buttons."
  255. Sarah: "Fair enough!"
  256. Hotaru Joy: "Okay. No damages, sounds good."
  257. Ann: "Once you are in there you are to deal with the challenge as you see fit. However you view yourself as a Trainer, making whatever decisions you deem the right ones."
  258. Cassiopeia: "So, enter the room, and don't damage the machine for pushing the buttons. Seems logical."
  259. Ann: "The machine in there will ask you questions about the 'event' as it appears and unfolds."
  260. Ann: "You can answer the question or ignore it."
  261. Ann: "Answering wrong will drain some stamina from your Pokemon and may make the event more difficult to handle."
  262. Ann: "Answering correctly will heal your Pokemon."
  263. DNA: (Are we supposed to enter the corridor/room now or wait outside of it?)
  264. Ann: "Not answering at all will cut your Pokemon's stamina in half."
  265. Deep Blue: "...Don't mess this one up, weather girl."
  266. Ann: "Go ahead, feel free to enter into the room."
  267. Hotaru Joy: "... Rough. But, good to know. Thank you, Ann. Are we restricted from item use?"
  268. Ann: "My only rule was to not damage my computer."
  269. Sarah: "Let it be known for the record, I'm kinda pissed about you setting it up so my Suzy's drank some screwy stuff."
  270. Ann: "You are free to deal with the event however you see fit."
  271. Hotaru Joy: "Always good to double-check. I just wanted to know, in case something went wrong. Good luck, everyone!"
  272. * Cassiopeia hmms it over.
  273. Ann: Ann smiled to Sarah.
  274. Cassiopeia: "See you."
  275. Ann: "Sarah my gal. You're at 0 now."
  276. Sarah: "...I'll take it."
  277. Narrator: For the record for this gym challenge.
  278. Hotaru Joy: Hotaru enters the room!
  279. Narrator: I stated last week that I was taking some liberties with your Pokemon.
  280. Sarah: Sarah enters as well!
  281. Narrator: Go ahead in, Ma-Nyeo.
  282. * Deep Blue takes a moment to scan the room and get acclimated with its surroundings. This is clearly a strange place, and to know as much as possible would be a good idea.
  283. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo waited until everyone was gone before she moved into her own room.
  284. Narrator: Don't forget Miss Mallo--
  285. Cassiopeia: "Hmm. That one reminds me of my youth."
  286. As everyone enters their respective rooms, you can see time and space ripple where your computer monitor is. This appears to be the 'safe haven' of the room. Whatever event present will not harm you while here. But your Pokemon must enter in the terrain beyond for it to start. Once setting foot on the terrain, your Pokemon will be unable to return to the space and time until the event has reached resolution though you the Trainer may traverse back and forth as you see fit.
  287. When Cassiopeia looks to her terrain, she can see the familiar terrain of the moutains. Vaguely familiar of home. But...not exactly HER home. Was this the home of Deep Blue?
  288. When Ma-Nyeo looks to her terrain, she can see the unimagineable licorice plasma void of the in-between. Is that what phasing feels like? Looks like? Or where ghosts go when they go intangible?
  289. When Sarah looks to her terrain, she can see the heat rising from the ground and the steady flow of magma through the cracks. This looks precisely like the mouth of a volcano. What's this got to do with Suzy?
  290. When Hotaru looks to her terrain, she can see the grassy fields of a typical route between two towns, cities or whatever. Looks like everyday stuff. Or is this similar to Route 1?
  291. Narrator: When you guys are ready, place your Pokemon on the terrain of your area.
  292. Cassiopeia: "...Are you ready, Deep Blue?"
  293. Deep Blue: "As ready as I will ever be. But the question is are you?"
  294. Ma-Nyeo: Ma-Nyeo looks over the computer thoroughly.
