  1. Consent is an important concept in our society. Consent, especially surrounding the use of a persons body, is the basis of many laws and ethical guidelines. For example, it's illegal to perform medical procedures on, have sexual contact with, or push someone without their consent.
  2.
  3. Consent is also something that has to be ongoing, if you are consenting to an ongoing process. For example, if you give consent for someone to take one of your possessions, you can't demand it back again later. However, if you give consent for someone to come onto your property, that consent only lasts as long as you keep giving it - that is, you can always ask them to leave your house*. This is true even if they might be placed in danger by leaving your house.

  5. I do not believe it is consistent or ethical to limit access to abortion. If a fetus arrives in somebody's body, it is violating their right to bodily autonomy unless they consent to it being there. Because pregnancy is an ongoing process, the pregnant person should be able to withdraw their consent to have the fetus present at any time up till the fetus is no longer present in their body.
  6.
  7. This is the underlying principle in my argument for keeping abortion legal, safe, and accessible for those who want it. (Even aside from the whole fetus not being a person except on religious (= should not be used for making laws, only for personal choice!) grounds thing!)

  9. *Unless they are a vampire. But vampires are notoriously unethical.
