  1. It was 10 PM, An old man in a wheel chair slowly made his way to the pizzeria. The tablet in his lap was his personal trophy for making it after one week and hearing of the old business being shut down. Nowadays the pizzeria is undergoing a reopening. Mr. Schmidt did not take to the news well.
  2. As he arrived, he noticed the building wasn't nearly as run down as it was during his short employment. There was still an odd feeling that certain...assets of the building were not quite as fixed up. Ones that would send him to his grave just a bit early.
  3. That was okay though, he was a loner through and through. He came prepared for that scenario, tired as he was.
  4.
  5. Pulling out an old rusted key, he unlocked the front doors. In a way it figured that the management didn't change the locks even after all this time.
  6.
  7. The pizzeria wasn't quite the same as he remembered, they had some new machines for the arcade that was always out of his cameras' range. Some cleaned up furniture here and there, even the older junk lacked dust. Mike didn't come to check on these assets though.
  8.
  9. Upon entering the dining area, the first place he noticed was what stood on the stage.
  10. Two animatronics, though another one should have been standing around. Hopefully they did an upgrade that involved less stuffing for the roamer. Or better yet, had it scrapped. Damn bird.
  11.
  12. Freddy looked...changed. His suit seemed torn and stitched on various places. No sign of his twin so that might be a good sign.
  13.
  14. Bonnie was an obvious change, a blue rabbit with some blush painted on. He could have swore it still had purple eyelids.
  15.
  16. Wheeling over to the cove, Mike unveiled the small stage.
  17.
  18. There were TWO of them. The thought of having to deal with two sprinters, Mike could only pray for the people who had to take his place.
  19. He re-covered the couple and moved on to his office.
  20.
  21. There he saw his replacement, panicked looking at his monitors. Maybe he's watching big bird herself.
  22.
  23. Knocking on the door, Mike finally spoke.
  24. "I don't think I'm a burglar, may I come in?"
  25. The frenzied guard started shouting about how "they wouldn't get their pay if they let an intruder in".
  26. "I just want to give you a tip, get out of this building as soon as possible."
  27. The guard stopped and considered their options, and opened the door.
  28. "Why should I?"
  29. "Because it's not going to be here soon."
  30. The guard sighed and nodded.
  31. "I've been here for three weeks"
  32. "Jesus Christ you poor soul, go take a long vacation."
  33. "But I've only got 10 dollars in my bank!"
  34. Mike handed him a check for 120,500 dollars
  35. "W-why do you have this? And where did you get this much money?!"
  36. "I worked a real job, now go home."
  37. The guard broke down in tears and wrapped their arms around the old man.
  38. "I-is there anything I can do for you uh...what's your name?"
  39. "My name is not important, though you can still do me a favor."
  40. "Yeah of course, anything after what you've given me!"
  41. "Give me your hat."
  42. The security guard complied all too quickly.
  43. "Thanks, it means something to me is all."
  44. "I don't know what the hell it would mean if you've worked in this hellhole, have you seen what goes on past midnight?!"
  45. "I have."
  46. "I-I see. I'm so sorry."
  47. "Don't be."
  48.
  49. After a gratuitous amount of thanks from the guard, they parted ways.
  50.
  51. It was 11:30 PM.
  52.
  53. Mr. Schmidt basked in the darkness, staring straight at Freddy himself.
  54.
  55. "Hello old friend, I know you're still there. How many have you killed since I was let go?"
  56.
  57. Silence, as he expected.
  58.
  59. "Of course, it must have been countless. Silly me."
  60. Mike opened up the ancient tablet, the screen glowed and the strange sounds from his haunted nights still came through.
  61. "You know, this damn thing always made such a racket even when it wasn't near you guys. I didn't even have to steal this, you sent it right to my address."
  62. A glare lit by the tablet screen could be seen, if anybody else were there to see it.
  63. "So, Freddy, how's your brother? Mr. Goldie would occasionally show up but he'd go away if I ignored him. He seemed to take a hint, unlike you."
  64.
  65. His gaze moved onto the blue bunny to the left.
  66.
  67. "And you, you liked to make frequent visits. You have no idea how hard I could have jumped when you held the door open at 5:55. I thought I was going to die for a moment. I still don't know why you didn't bother to jump me, seemed like a better plan. Guess you're still sore seeing how I got fired after that night."
  68.
  69. A small creak could be heard from the blue abomination's direction.
  70.
  71. "The big bird is absent I see, did she have to leave or is she just ducking out?"
  72.
  73. Movement could be heard from Freddy.
  74.
  75. "Ah, it's midnight. I must be getting rusty, I used to always watch that clock for every agonizing minute when it wasn't spent on you."
  76.
  77. Two pairs showed up, one approaching from the stage, and the other the cove.
  78.
  79. "Oh and how could I forget about my Olympic runner! You caused some problems, don't you know it's impolite to knock more than once a night? I can understand seeing how you have no social skills, being scared of me watching through a camera. You still managed to find a nice woman to settle with though," laughter could be heard from the big bear "unlike me."
  80.
  81. Mike prepared the tablet.
  82.
  83. "It's for the best though, I've made peace with how lonesome my life has been. I can't have a family now, but I can save others' families tonight."
  84.
  85. The animatronics stopped their approach, surrounding Schmidt
  86.
  87. "Any last words?"
  88.
  89. Whispers of "It's me!" could be heard from the tablet, Freddy's chime began to play.
  90.
  91. "Oh thank you Freddy, I love this song ever since you introduced me to it. Never took myself a fan of opera."
  92.
  93. All eyes were on Schmidt as the tune began to wind down.
  94.
  95. Silence, and darkness were all that surrounded his senses.
  96.
  97. "L'amour! L'amour! L'amour! Toréador, Toréador, Toreador!"
  98.
  99. A grand cheer from a lonesome retired man rang throughout the pizzeria.
  100.
  101. And a white flash came forth from the tablet.
  102.
  103. All that remained was ash and scraps.
