Kaeri is playful and likes to go outside often since she feels free that way. She's also very hardworking for the sake of her mother and especially her brother who she hasn't seen in a long time. her background: Kaeri's father was a general veteran from the Chinese army who passed away shortly before Kaeri was even born. Her mother, having a newborn and a 5-year-old with her moved to live in Hangzhou, China to live with her sister. Kaeri grew up being very close to her aunt as a happy and playful child. She was very outdoorsy having raised at a farm where she spent her childhood being tan and running around barefoot. When Kaeri was 10 years old, she would watch different Chinese dramas with her mother and instantly dreamed of becoming an actress when she grew up.

This passion for acting gave her the courage to attend several auditions for upcoming dramas since she was young. Sadly, no one would ever accept her and made her feel like she was a terrible actress. Seeing how upset she was about this her brother and mother asked her to act a scene from her favorite drama. When she did, her brother secretly filmed her and sent the video to multiple entertainment companies to see if she will be accepted. Surprisingly, an entertainment company from Korea wanted to hire Kaeri as an actress. Her family was overjoyed by this and instantly sent her there where she was trained. In the midst of this, her brother left for the military which was the last time she ever saw him and was upset because she couldn't even say goodbye.

Being unable to see her brother, Kaeri worked extra hard on his behalf and made her acting debut in the drama, 'Moorim School' as a supporting actress. She also starred in 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' where she first met Baekhyun. Ironically, they ended up being paired up as a couple on We Got Married.
