  48. Backstory:
  49. Born to the long childless Godking of Pahravanit and one of his concubines, Iolani was raised as the royal heir despite being illegitimate. There had been little hope that he would ever produce an heir after years of trying with his wife and so any heir was welcome, regardless of legitimacy. And so Iolani was raised to become a ruler. This continued until her 10th birthday at which point a true heir was born. The country rejoiced and Iolani found herself put to the side. Since the king had acknowledged her as his child, Iolani was not cast out, but was no longer viewed as the heir by most of the country. Angered at being spurned, she chose to spite standard Pahravanit beliefs about warfare and instead studied light magic, soon showing it could be a powerful force. However, as time passed and the trueborn son grew up sickly, often times bed ridden for months at a time, whispers began to spread around the court, comparing the two children of the king suggesting even the possibility that the boy was not a true heir of the Godking. When the queen was informed of these rumors, she flew into a rage and demanded that her husband get rid of Iolani. When he refused, she took matters into her own hands and hired assassins. The attack failed only thanks to Iolani's loyal servant. Escaping the palace, Iolani fled the country, hatred growing in her heart. Making her way into the Arvadian Empire, Iolani began a life as a mercenary, vowing to never return to Pahravanit unless it was as part of an army.
