  1. Touhoumon 1.8 General Mechanics FAQ
  2.
  3. >These are obviously Pokemon mods with the Pokemon replaced with Touhou characters. What else is changed?
  4. It should go without saying that all stats are customized and as a result far more balanced. In addition the typing system is also completely redone and more balanced as well. Many moves and abilities have different properties and/ or names. Some hacks have custom music and cries. The games are generally more difficult. Despite this being gen 3 the attack/special split is present. Outside of that the maps are (mostly) the same and it's still Pokemon.
  5.
  6. >How does evolution work?
  7. Put in Pokemon terms: most characters will evolve once by level but have a good few alternate evolutions that can be accessed by using stones/shards on the first form. Think Eevee but instead of happiness evolutions you have level evolutions. To illustrate: CKeine evolves into Keine at level 28, but CKeine can also evolve into AKeine (as in Attack Keine) by using a Power Heart at any level. Alternate evolutions have different stats, learned moves, and often different types. In FireRed 1.8 these (save for AKeine) can only be gotten after the Elite Four, but you are allowed to "slide" a character freely between their evolutions. In Emerald 1.8 you can access these forms at any point but once a character is there they're stuck.

  9. >These Types are confusing!
  10. Well yeah, they're completely different. Types who's names mirror Pokemon types are usually somewhat similar. Exceptions to this are the Dark and Steel types which are very different. To make things a bit easier just consider:
  11. Nature = Grass
  12. Wind = Electric
  13. Earth = Ground
  14. Miasma = Poison (but not as shitty)
  15. Illusion = Normal (but has no weaknesses)
  16.
  17. >These moves are confusing!
  18. Just because a move's name is the same doesn't mean it has the same properties. They're usually changed in some way, assume this is the case until proven otherwise.
  19.
  20. >How do trade evolutions work?
  21. If you're playing FireRed you'll have to make use of VBA link and actually trade between two running ROMs. If you're playing Emerald you can use a specific shard.
  22.
  23. >What do the UFOs do?
  24. FireRed:
  25. Green - TinyMushroom
  26. Red - BigMushroom
  27. Move Relearner accepts 2 green or 1 red to learn a move
  28.
  29. Emerald:
  30. Blue - Heart Scale
  31. Red - Trade for evo stones
  32. Green - Trade four for a Blue, or one for five Rare Candy in postgame
