  1. "A vacation?"
  2. >you dad pets your head as your hair drips onto the floor
  3. >you were fresh out of the shower, not even wearing anything, when dad started the news
  4. >"Princess Celestia and I had quite a few discussions after the Christmas shebang, and she really enjoyed the whole thing. All the parents getting along, the kids having fun, and the evil overlords, as she said, not even bothering to disrupt anything. She decided she could trust us most of all and first of all, and she's funded a getaway for us, as an apology for keeping targets over our heads when nothing was being done wrong."
  5. >your mother trots into the room, a small bag already packed and in her mouth
  6. >"Mm rrrll ctd!"
  7. >she puts the bag down
  8. >"I'm really excited!"
  9. >you turn back to your dad
  10. "So where were you thinking we should go?"
  11. >he strokes his bearded chin for a moment, thinking of what you'd like
  12. >"I've heard tale of a wonderful resort in Griffonland."
  13.
  14. >"Gry-fo-land."
  15. >"Griffonland."
  16. >"Gry-fo-land."
  17. >"Never mind. Reservations for the Shimmers."
  18. >the hostess looks at her list, then turns back and grabs a key for you all
  19. >"Please don't let the other griffons hear your horrendous accent."
  20. >you struggle listening to her heavy Slav accent, but your dad nods happily
  21. >"Certainly, and again, my apologies."
  22. >the hostess griffon nods and goes to the back, continuing her hourly cleaning duties
  23. >burds
  24. >you all hit up the room, putting your stuff away
  25. >in the midst of that, mom says she's going straight to the spa
  26. >"I haven't been to a spa in years, back when I was on that weird alternate world."
  27. >she kisses dad goodbye and scurries off, squealing like the inner schoolgirl wanted
  28. >your father then turns to you
  29. >"And what would you like to do, sweetie? Mani-pedi? Spa date? A dip in the pool?"
  30. >you know instantly what you want
  31. "I want to play hockey."
  32. >"Hockey?"
  33. >you nod excitedly
  34. "I read all about this area and I already know exactly what I want. Hockey rinks are a little down the road. They've got little practice rinks, like how in school they had like six hoops for no reason."
  35. >well, you couldn't argue with that
  36.
  37. >inside the hockey rink, it was quite odd
  38. >apparently, there was half an hour of free, everyone-swatting-pucks-around play, then there were 15 minute friendlies, with random teams selected
  39. >during the free play, Eventide literally whipped around all the other colts and fillies, making her the Michael Jordan of hocket
  40. >did that make her Mario Lemieux?
  41. >...hockey
  42. >after making six goals in a row without even making so much as contact with another players hockey stick, the friendly was about to begin
  43. >she was picked for the blue team, and while you had never considered hockey to be a fast-paced, enjoyable sport, you couldn't help but jump up and cheer when your daughter already had a hat trick 6 minutes in
  44. >she was a prodigy, there was no doubt
  45. >you'd have to consider enrolling her in a team
  46. >after a few hours, she comes off the ice and hugs you tightly before removing her helmet, releasing her damp hair and a burst of steam
  47. "Wow, girl. I never knew you were so talented!"
  48. >she laughs and punches your arm
  49. >"It all comes from you, dad!"
  50.
  51. >Day 2
  52. >you're Eventide again
  53. >today was the day you hit the gym
  54. >for four hours, it was you sans dad and mom, who had run off to the local theatre, doing everything you satyrly could in that weight room
  55. >you benched reps upon reps at 150
  56. >you did sets of 40 squats, six separate times
  57. >leg extensions, chest flies, push ups, shoulder presses, lateral raises
  58. >the others inside the weight room all gawked at your enormous strength
  59. >your only response was 'trees are much heavier than these silly little things!'
  60. >towel wrapped around your neck as you exited, people couldn't help but applaud out of sheer instinct
  61. >you were the golden girl around here
  62. >you go up to your room and hit the shower, washing the grime of the strenuous activity away
  63. >you think back to the past few months, and how things have been great
  64. >no enemies, no worries, just you, family, and Alex to look forward to
  65. >you give the bean a little flick, shuddering in happy response, then finish up and towel off, ready for the perfect relaxer after such a heavy workout
  66.
  67. >the spa griffons welcomed you with wide smiles
  68. >the whole setup reminded you of Aloe and Lotus' place back in Ponyville, but if they had a 10,000 bit budget to renovate with
  69. >"Hello, hello."
  70. >an off white griffon leads you in by the hand
  71. >"Very nice to see you here. What are you looking for?"
  72. "The works."
  73. >"Ah yes! The platinum package! And your name, miss?"
  74. "Eventide."
  75. >"Very good, very good. Now sit down here and I will have one of the spa girls come for you in no time."
  76. >you smile as you take the seat
  77. "Thank you very much."
  78. >you recline into the cloud of a chair while a professional begins working on your hooves
  79. >she starts with a cleaning, then a nice massage, and it all feels so heavenly
  80. >although you never realized quite how ticklish you were down there
  81. >the rest of it kind of flies by, what with you being so relaxed you could literally die
  82. >you drop plenty of tips and head back to the room, knowing that you needed to let the who spa thing really get into your skin
  83.
  84. >Day 3
  85. >you are Sunset Shimmer
  86. >you and Eventide agree to both go out for ice cream, then ice skating, and finishing up with an arcade battle
  87. >the ice cream stand you try is called Frozen FΓΌn
  88. >you get mint soft serve, and Eventide snags a strawberry lemonade sherbet on a waffle cone
  89. >purely for ironic purposes
  90. "So! How're things with you and Alex?"
  91. >Eventide stops between licks, smiling a little
  92. >"I'm not exactly sure. Alex has been kinda distant lately, but every time she sees me, the first thing she does is give me a kiss."
  93. >you smile
  94. >"Usually followed by her apologizing and saying she has to run."
  95. "Huh. What do you think has her so busy?"
  96. >your daughter taps her chin
  97. >"I think she got a job? But I'm not exactly sure. I kinda miss seeing Alex every few weekends, but life isn't always about getting what you want. I know that."
  98. >your expression softens
  99. "Oh but sweetie, you two should at least have a little communication, don't you think?"
  100. >she nods, finishing up her ice cream and downing the cone with a pat of her belly
  101. >"It's all right mom. Really. I'm sure she's actually doing important stuff right now."
  102.
  103. >ice skating was not your forte
  104. >while Eventide danced around you, sometimes literally doing electric slides for shits and giggles, you were tripping over all four legs, trying to figure out which hoof to put down first
  105. "How do you do this shit?"
  106. >Eventide laughs, passing you completely backwards
  107. >"Trade secret."
  108. >you growl in frustration, falling on your face again
  109. "Ok, that's it! Time for the arcade battle!"
  110. >"Oh yeah, mom? You're going down!"
  111.
  112. >you couldn't believe it
  113. >Eventide trumped you at everything
  114. >she killed you in the Fast and Furious game, made you look silly in Dance Dance Xtreme, and hit all 100s in skee ball
  115. >she was naturally talented in everything, huh?
  116. >while she laughed in great spirits, you couldn't be more proud of losing so horribly to your own flesh and blood
  117. >you had to hug her in the middle of the sidewalk
  118. "You're growing up so fast, little passion fruit. I'm really gonna miss you when your gone."
  119. >"Mooom, you don't need to worry! I'm not moving til I'm perfectly suited, if that's what you'd like. I'll even make you breakfast every Saturday."
  120. >you couldn't help but smile at her generosity
  121. "It's about what you want, Eve."
  122. >you push your emotions aside and clear your throat.
  123. "Anyway, let's get back to the resort and start packing. We're leaving soon. Did you have fun?"
  124. >"Oh yeah! I haven't had this much fun since my birthday party!"
  125. >you cock an eyebrow
  126. "Already forgetting how sweet that party in Canterlot was?"
  127. >"Pfft, no mom! It's just a comparison point."
  128. >you giggle and lead the way back
  129.
  130. >you are Eventide once more
  131. >standing in front of your house after a vacation like that felt relieving
  132. "I can't wait to see Alex again. I think I'll go see her tomorrow."
  133. >you open the door, parents right behind you, to a very surprising sight
  134. >when you turn the light on, standing right in front of you is Alex with a cocky smile
  135. >"Welcome back, dweeb."
  136. >your eyes grow and you lunge yourself at the sphinx
  137. "Alex! Oh my goodness, it's so great to see you again!"
  138. >she polishes her claws on her shirt
  139. >"Love ya too, you clingy little condiment."
  140. >you squeeze tighter, giggling happily
  141.
  142. >Earlier...
  143. >you flop down on your side of the bed, tired from your workout
  144. >a scroll falls on your face
  145. "Oof! What the...?"
  146. >unraveling, you come to find it's a letter from Eventide's mom, asking if you could make a surprise appearance at their house later tonight
  147. >you chuckle and put your claw to your forehead
  148. "Shit, I totally forgot about Eventide."
  149. >a hand drapes across your chest, circling a nipple
  150. >"Ready for round three?"
  151. "Pogo, you know I'm always ready."
  152. >you hear an angry grunting from below as a yellow haired head pops out from under the covers
  153. "Yes, Misty. I get to eat you out next. Just get all the sweet nectar Pogo here donated and we'll get going again."
