* Chapter 8: Thank You

Momo: See? Did you hear that just now? My voice works just fine. I can go pretty loud too! But why?
Momo: When I try to sing, it's as if something has sealed my throat shut, and my voice just won't come out. I wonder why?
Yuki: It'll be alright. They'll cure you at the hospital.
Momo: So everything will be okay after I go too the throat doctor (otolaryngologist)? But my voice works just fine when I speak.
Yuki: To the psychosomatic medicine department too.
Momo: Why! I'm having fun, though! I'm not worried about anything, nothing at all! See, here's a funny face! Ahaha, did you laugh?
Yuki: Just in case.
Momo: See? I can relax too. Ta-dah. My whole body's relaxed.
Yuki: Momo.
Momo: ....... Sorry.... Sorry I'm causing so much trouble....
Yuki: It's alright.
Momo: What should I do? If continue on like this, unable to sing....

2: If there's something you can do, by all means, go ahead and do it. (lit. you should do the things that you can do LOL). I mean, just look at MEZZO"'s debut. No one had wished it to happen, at first.

ogm: ...It seems that lately none of the boys are in high spirits. Though MEZZO"'s atmosphere has gotten better.
tmg: Indeed.......
ogm: Sales for the new single have been great, and "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7" has been getting rave reviews. There's been other offers coming in too.
ogm: Like for a variety-esque school drama, or for another IDOLiSH7-led talk show at another TV station. There's been several offers for them to appear as guests on popular TV shows.
ogm: There's been lots of fan letters and fan mail coming in as well.... But all of the boys are diligent at the core, so they might get influenced by all of the demands.......
ogm: Back then, everyone just headed forward, onwards. They've been minding other members' fans lately, and I feel like they're more hesitant to take that step forward.
tmg: I have to support them......
ogm: Huh...?
tmg: Momo-san told me that this was the most important time period for them. They've done nothing wrong, none of them. But even so, he said that they'd get crushed as time goes on.... **
dad: Exactly that.
tmg: President....
dad: We had no choice but to change the center. It's only natural for us to prioritize our idols' health. If you had not come to that decision, I would've scolded you.
dad: Even in the midst of a sudden crisis, Riku-kun and Iori-kun are giving it their all. Mitsuki-kun as well.

dad: In times like these, they don't need colorful advertisements of them. They don't need more behind-the-scenes planning, or a vacation, or even trophies. There's only one thing those kids need right now....
dad: I'm sure you already know.
tmg: Yes....
tmg: What they need is emotional, mental support. Love and hate, the eyes of many, laughter-- at times, these things are scarier than any blade, any gun.
tmg: In the midst of this battlefield, everyone in IDOLiSH7, the people who call themselves idols.... They all do their best to smile for us.
tmg: A 'yes' that'll win against a hundred million 'no's-- I'll convey it to them.

(1) それどころか threw me off a little! It means "on the contrary" and I believe what all this PRAISE!! ABOUT IZUMI MITSUKI!! is contrary to is the criticism abt Mitsuki. mitsuki himself is doubting his ability as MC, some fans dont want him as mc, but on the contrary the people in the entertainment industry are all !!!! eye emoji !!! at him.

Passerby: Really? I like how Gaku-san seems pretty normal, though.

Staff: Could we change up this part a bit more...?

Staff: You sure?
8: It's fine. I'll be in your care.

TRIGGER Fan: I got to see Ten up close! I'm sooo happy!
TRIGGER Fan: You know, about Kujou Ten.... He's definitely super picky about fans. He only goes up to ones that are his type.
TRIGGER Fan: Well, he's young so that's just how it is? Ryuunosuke-san is nice to everyone though!

10: Ten, are you okay!?
Staff: We'll tape it up for you!
9: ...I'll leave it up to you. I am terribly sorry that I'm taking up your time like this.
Staff: If anything, we're the ones who are terribly sorry! You got injured because of our mistake on the scaffolding!
9: Not at all. I was not attentive enough.
fans: Kyaaaaaaa....
9: The fans are waiting or us. Let's go.

Passerby: Momo-san last night was kinda mean, wasn't he? He kept forcing the newbie who was guesting to talk. I love Momo-san when he's nice more though....
Passerby: I love that forceful side to Momo-chan! I did feel a little bad for that new kid, but Momo-chan was cute and that's all that matters!

Newcomer Idol: I'm so sorry, Momo-san...! I talked just fine during the rehearsals, but halfway through the real thing my mind just went blank!
mm: Ahaha! It happens, it happens! I though it'd be fine if I kept going, so sorry for pushing that on you!
mm: That story was just so interesting, so I wanted everyone to hear it! But thanks to you, we all had a blast!
mm: Thank you! I'm so happy I got to hear a wonderful story!

/tmg: The multitude of voices, surrounding IDOLiSH7.
/tmg: There's something I must convey to them, in the loudest voice, over all of the other voices.
/tmg: Something important, that will tell them to keep on fighting, and tell them that they don't have to push themselves so hard anymore.

ogm: I'm glad.... Everyone's smiling so nicely....

dad: We've put our heart and soul into making it, and it's the grandest of feasts. Before they seasoned it any further, Tsumugi-kun properly reminded them of that fact.
dad: All that's left is for those kids to stand up and face the issues within themselves, bit by bit.

(2) special emphasis (その私) has been given to the fact that BEACUSE it's tsumugi, who has been watching since the very beginning.
(3) lit. "raise ur face and puff out your chest, stay the natural idolish7." okAY that was a little terrible but its a veRY!!! POWERFUL LINE!!! to have confidence in yourself! And if you've all heard the japanese version of let it go (arinOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MAMA NOOOOOOOOO SUBETE MISERU NO YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo), the closest eng equiv i can think of off the top of my head for arinomama is "as i am". just as you are. so yeah tsumugi's motivational speech telling them to stay true to themselves and be proud of who they are as is!! isS SO!!! IM EMOTIONAL ALL OVER AGAGIN!!
(4) the phrase よしくお願いします gives me paIN because it can mean everything from 'i look forward to working with you' 'ill be in your care' 'i'll leave it in your hands' etcetc, but given the mood and the content of tsumugi's speech, i put two of the meanings. Because its a reciprocal relationship-- what with i7 as idols giving her joy and happiness, and also her as their manager taking care of them and working with each and every one of them. Thus, my Trademark slap-down-two-definitions-when-one-isn't-enough movE :^) OHO :^)
(5) kaiseki (for a more technical explanation, click here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiseki) - kaiseki ryouri is typically eaten on new years, and its 1) expensive af 2) beautiful! each dish has its own meaning and symbolism, and I love this so much. 3) if it's a new years thing generally it means its auspicious!
the other nice meaning Papa means by this is, variety. kaiseki isn't just one dish, but many. the meal isn't made but one single thing, but by various little dishes all coming together into a grand new years meal. that's kaiseki ryouri at least.
put it into bentou form and that's kaiseki bentou. which is really good because i7 came a long way, from a plain noribentou to, well, This.
NEVER THOUGHT ID CRY OVER??? BENTOU??? BUT HERE I AM ! ! ! !
last note, the bentou line carries over til the end of the section and bASICALLY what I got from this was, when the boys all tried to change themselves a bit (most notably mitsuki speaking less etc), that's like "seasoning it further" (the actual word was furikakeru, if you recognize furikake, yep that's it!). but they're already good as it! hence, tsumugi reminding them, that they're already a goddamn FEAST.

2: Our Manager sure was amazing. I could really empathize.... / It kinda struck a chord with me.... (???? when u forget how 2 eenglish)
3: Yeah....
2: ...Mitsu, I'll give ya something good. Put your hand out.

2: Some people only know the smiling and laughing Mitsu, so there's bound to be things they don't understand.
