  16. -Check your other Options and key-bindings! Read the Manual! These can teach you more than you'd imagine.
  17. -In the beginning, choose to get "Brainwashed", this gives you a short tutorial.
  18. -Read your in-game PDA often!

  20. -In fights, always use cover. Stay low. Aim with your weapons. Set automatic guns to semi- or burst-mode for more accuracy.
  21. -Aim for the head. From long distance aim to center mass.
  22. -Select your ammo-type according the enemy. AP-rounds against most humans, regular ammo against mutants or less armored personnel.

  24. -Don't hoard too much stuff with you. Vodka and food weight a ton, so don't have too much with you. Only loot what you need, or what you can sell quickly for some nice cash. Drop extra stuff to some stash to wait your return.

  34. in vanilla SoC / ZRP the player's eye-level is too low compared to other humans by default . You can edit this with ZRP's modifier again, in the Actor.ltx -tab. Rise it from default 0.85 to 0.94

  42. The in-game AA slider DOES NOT WORK in SoC. You gotta force AA on through GPU's control panel. Avoid anything above 2x for minimal performance hit!

  44. In CS and CoP, if you use ENHANCED FULL DYNAMIC -mode, set its three specific settings (SSAO, Sun Quality, Sun-shafts) to LOW. You won't notice quality difference, but your performance will skyrocket!

  46. Another easy way to improve visuals and reduce random stuttering is to lower Vision- and Lighting distance, plus Object-Quality bar to around 50%. Again quality difference is minimal, but fps improves.
  47. Reducing the Grass Density a point or two also may help stuttering outdoors.

  49. Why You Should Play on Master Difficulty

  51. Simply put: Playing on master actually improves hit detection and gunplay, creating more of a balanced difficulty level instead of becoming harder in certain ways.

  53. Long answer: The difficulty system in STALKER games is quite unique. Instead of just increasing enemy's numbers or HP and other stupid tweaks, the difficulty affects the base-damage values of all weapons in the game. How does this affect the gameplay? Answer: you die faster, but so does everyone else!

  55. The higher difficulty also slightly improves the AI of all NPCs, allowing them to react a bit faster to happenings around them, and perform some bit more complex strategies. The biggest difference is their so called "Hit probability percent", which determines how big of chance they have of inflicting damage to you with their shots. On lowest difficulty they only have bare ~20% hit probability, meaning you can just sit there and watch them miss the broad side of a Ukranian barn most of the time. Even on MASTER this is something close to 50%, but the slightly higher damage values make you seek for cover more efficiently.

  124. For better or worse, here is 'Why Complete 2009/2012 Sucks!'

  126. - All weapons have their accuracy increased by 10-20.
  127. - Damage done to everybody is decreased by various percentages.
  128. - Weight limit is increased by 10kg, the maximum being 70kg. In vanilla, the Exo-suit enabled up to 80kg!
  129. - Limits NPC's eye sight distance so they can't spot you from beyond ~100 meters. Said to remove enemies skill to spot you from "unrealistic distances," but really means you always see them first every time.
  130. - Sound radius of the knife and other critical sounds such as death cries, falling dead bodies, night-vision goggles, grass, and footsteps are greatly reduced.
  131. - scientific suits with 90% rad protection now feature an anti-rad injection system.
  132. - Bandages auto-apply at 10% health.
  133. - An older beta version of ZRP is used for their "bug fixes," making it less stable than vanilla with the latest version of ZRP.

  135. The following features are also available in other mods, but are usually balanced out with other forms of difficulty:
  136. - You can bribe hostile factions to leave you alone.
  137. - A repair kit that lets you service your armor and weapons without the need for a trader can be bought from traders.
  138. - The bar trader and Screw now sell weapons and armor repair services.
  139. - Elite Nightvision, essentially the black & white night vision based on the psy_antenna postprocess effect, replaces the original UV-based blue NV. Perfect vision in the dark is now possible, even without a real light source.
  140. - A tracer effect is enabled for armor-piercing bullets, making them visually distinguishable when in use.
  141. - The CS and CoP versions allow cash looting from corpses.
