- The Story of Ukuukkjujkuuu
- Once long ago there was a small Island far out into the sea. It was no bigger than a city in terms of area and definitely not as populated. People there dressed plainly and their houses were nothing out of the ordinary either. They coexisted with the animals and took care of the land, eating only what they grew and never hunting the animals for their meat. The peace they saw in their daily lives could only be dreamt of by men outside of their civilization. Their pride however, laid in their technology and wit. Where man had discovered fire, they had developed speech. When man began to speak they had formed a society. When man had begun making societies they had already begun making machines and developing energy sources. And while man was basking in greed and rage fighting with its fellow man over nothing more than trivial qualms, they were aware of it all, thinking of ways that they might be able to spread the peace they’ve experienced all their lives to everyone else. For this reason they kept themselves hidden from outsiders so as their island would remain in tranquility. By the time man had made boats and ships, the islanders had come up with a device that would hide them from the eyes of passerby’s. If outsiders made their way onto the island before they had found a solution there would surely be problems.
- One day however there came a man drifting through the vast sea in a small boat. He was visibly weak and unconscious. A young man saw him and thought leaving him out to his own fate would be too cruel. He took a self propelled boat out to where the man was and took him to shore. The young man went to his father who was one of the best minds and the leader’s brother to tell him of what had happened. His father and the leader happened to be talking with each other at the moment when he arrived. The man was unsettled at what the boy had told him and brought up the fact that it could be dangerous bringing an outsider in. However their leader seemed to have no problems. The sea drifter was given proper attention and would be fine. This was no complicated task for the islanders as they had done much grander things.
- When he awoke, he was to be guided by the boy until a proper guide could attend to him. Naturally he was disoriented and confused when he came to, thinking all of this was some sort of hallucination and perhaps that he was dead.
