  1. I'd like to thank arglefumph and Danielle from speeddemosarchive.com, who previously ran this game and taught me several tricks I use.
  2.
  3. GENERAL TRICKS:
  4. -Turn off player speech and character speech in the game settings. This completely skips all phone calls and all of Nancy's dialogue during regular conversations.
  5. -Right clicking when you are spinning around in a room will make you go much faster.
  6.
  7. TRIGGERS:
  8. Each day has what I call "triggers" that allow the game to progress. The goal when creating a route is to do all the tasks that activate the next "trigger" in whatever order they are fastest. The Final Scene is a noteworthy ND game because it is terribly programmed and allows you to skip I'd say 75% of the plot. Seriously, the first time I beat the game I found the biggest time-saver I use in this run that allows you to completely bypass the game's biggest plot twist on Day 3 by complete accident. In other words, the "triggers" are extremely lax. I'll make note of all of them below.
  9.
  10. (This will probably only make sense if you've already beaten the game)
  11.
  12. DAY 1:
  13. The day basically ends once Joseph tells Nancy about the press pass. After that, all that happens is you call the police and the day is over. To trigger the press pass you must:
  14. -Talk to Simone
  15. -Talk to Joseph
  16. -Get the flash paper from the magician game
  17. -Open the compartment in the basement and read documents
  18. -Tell Nicholas about Houdini's ownership
  19. During my run, I also get the quarter from the hallway during this day that you will need on Day 3. I believe this is unnecessary and you can get it anytime you go through that hallway. Also it seems that the magician game isn't completely random; it alternates between left and right on every playthrough.
  20.
  21. DAY 2:
  22. Ends once you find Maya, call the police, and talk to Joseph. Finding Maya is just a matter of going fast once the press conference starts. To trigger the press conference, you must:
  23. -Talk to Joseph
  24. -Talk to Nicholas twice
  25. -Talk to Simone twice
  26. -Talk to Brady (NOTE: Brady will not appear if you go talk to him immediately after talking to Simone, you must enter another room and come back. In my run, I enter the hallway, then turn around and go talk to him.
  27. -Walk by the ticket booth (you'll hear the press conference starting)
  28. Once the press conference starts there is no "order", you just have to go fast. Stuff worth noting:
  29. -Nancy will not take the hairpin unless you have previously tried to open the drawer in Brady's room and saw that it's locked. I do this during Day 1 at the very beginning.
  30. -You must look at the first page of the stage technician book, otherwise the passcode will not work.
  31. -Joseph will not appear to give WD-40 unless you've already seen that the puzzle pieces are stuck.
  32. After this, just call the cops and talk to Joseph and the day is over.
  33.
  34. DAY 3:
  35. This is where my major time improvements over past runs come. Like Day 2, you just have to go fast after a certain trigger. In this case, you want the key machine to get fixed. To do this, you have to:
  36. -Talk to Joseph
  37. -Enter Brady's room
  38. And that's it. The entire thing with Brady's bag can be ENTIRELY SKIPPED, which I learned after doing it on accident during my first playthrough. For the last minutes after the making the key, if you adjust the focus knob before turning on the power, you can skip the entire conversation with Joseph (Thanks Danielle).
