  6. [2016-05-11 13:23:41] <Kkat> 3The grand spirits look to each other. The Golden Stag and The Faceless are impossible to read. But the pained expression and tilted ears of the Fox suggest they are undecided in how to judge the vision they have just seen. The Fox holds a paw to her chest, looking at Get_Lost with clear sympathy, regardless.

  10. [2016-05-11 13:26:57] <Kkat> 3With only Shatara and CopyCat amongst the friends left to be tested, the Grand Spirits turn next to the zebras. Mwana, sitting close to Golden_Dream, has already passed his test.
  11. [2016-05-11 13:28:05] * Golden_Dream is also making sure he's otherwise busy as well. With sad cuddles. Yes.
  12. [2016-05-11 13:28:33] <Kkat> 3The hearts of the other zebras are not so pleasing to the spirits. Like Jugeote and Kifaa before them, most fail the test outright. The Grand Spirits can pull nothing from their pasts that show the virtue of character they demand.
  13. [2016-05-11 13:31:54] * Noble_Heart keeps a wing gently over Get Lost, watching the proceedings with some concern.
  14. [2016-05-11 13:32:04] <Kkat> 3Only the young Cruentos mechanic, Chombo, proves to have a virtue that the Spirits accept easily. Her past reveals a soul of hope.
  15. [2016-05-11 13:33:39] <Kkat> 3While the pirate clans may be fleeing their home, Chombo's spirit is one of adventure, and a shining desire to find something amazing just over the next horizon.
  16. [2016-05-11 13:39:21] <Kkat> 3Cordus Vespertilio is the only other zebra the spirits draw a vision from, and his leaves them as indecisive as Get_Lost. Whereas Get_Lost's visions showed repeated failure and ostracization, the Vespertilio's visions were downright cruel. And where her story suggests a Virtue of Perserverence, Cordus' own Virtue seems that of Order.
  17. [2016-05-11 13:43:13] <Kkat> 3Shying away from Vespertilio, the Fox returns to Golden_Dream's side, looking once again at the bag filled with the Seeds of Life. "If you let me have them, I will give you what your loyal friend needs."
  18. [2016-05-11 13:44:34] * Get_Lost sits and watches the other visions, is mostly quiet, as usual
  19. [2016-05-11 13:45:51] * Golden_Dream winces. "... Promise me this won't come back to bite us later."
  20. [2016-05-11 13:47:54] <Kkat> 3The Fox cocks her head. "Do you want me to? I don't know the future. But I am not The Stag, so I can say that if you wish."
  21. [2016-05-11 13:49:58] * CopyCat looks at the fox beside Golden_Dream. "Can you tell us what you'll do with them?"
  22. [2016-05-11 13:50:55] * Golden_Dream lowers her shoulders, and hefts the seeds over her neck. "... Just don't fuck up th' time line and don't kill her. I like existing, and you do too."
  23. [2016-05-11 13:54:41] * Noble_Heart ruffles her feathers slightly, but says nothing. She had concerns, but this was not the best time or place to discuss them.
  24. [2016-05-11 14:00:58] <Kkat> 3The Fox takes the pouch of seeds with a nip and then turns and moves off to the Noble Hunter.
  25. [2016-05-11 14:01:58] <Kkat> 3The Faceless approaches CopyCat.
  26. [2016-05-11 14:02:30] * CopyCat takes a deep breath as the Faceless moves towards her. "I..." she begins, reluctantly. "Okay." She steps forward and offers herself up for their judgement.
  27. [2016-05-11 14:03:32] <Kkat> 3The Noble Hunter sniffs at the Fox then snorts and walks away moving instead towards Shatara. The Fox looks disappointed, Her ears dipping. Then perks and scampers over to the Golden Stag.
  28. [2016-05-11 14:04:20] <Kkat> 3The Faceless stands before CopyCat. Shadows close in. Silence washes across the cenote...

  30. [2016-05-11 14:05:01] <CopyCat> There are voices. Dozens, no, hundreds of them. Conversations and discussions. Images and ideas from every direction. One speaks louder than all others, like a stern, demanding, yet very attentive mother.
  31. [2016-05-11 14:05:02] <CopyCat> A swirling mass of seemingly chaotic consciousnesses… yet with a comforting unity underlying them all. A togetherness that brings safety and contentment, like a cog fitting snuggly in a machine. A child snuggled close with her mother and sisters. A sense of belonging that borders on the profound.

  37. [2016-05-11 14:06:52] <CopyCat> Absolute. Complete. Silence. A silence where the voices used to be, where the feelings and desires and togetherness used to be. A yawning empty void. A vast, endless loneliness extending in all directions. There is no sense of self. No inner voice. Not even the whisper of a thought.

From the darkness comes a pair of sparks. Two little embers, like candles in an empty hall, casting light and shadows with their flickering flames.
  41. [2016-05-11 14:08:30] <CopyCat> The sparks bring sight, the sight of CopyCat half starved and buried by snow drifts in a windy mountain cave. The sight of two ponies, shocked at the discovery, digging her out, the scene seen twice over, once from each of their perspectives.
  42. [2016-05-11 14:09:10] <CopyCat> Their mouths move but it is their minds that are heard. Surprise and excitement overpowering the background noise of their simple hate of the cold. Concern and awe, and a sympathetic desire to help... slowly giving way to something darker and more predatory from the stallion, only to be quickly squashed by shame. What the mare and stallion both want is to feel good for doing a good deed.
  43. [2016-05-11 14:09:35] <CopyCat> It is nothing like the snug contentment of before. Not even a fraction of that comforting chorus of togetherness. But it is something.

  45. [2016-05-11 14:10:07] <CopyCat> 03I am a damsel in distress. Beautiful and powerless and rescued and thankful.
  46. [2016-05-11 14:10:31] <CopyCat> In a blur of rapid images the snowy mountain becomes an enormous waterfall, and behind that waterfall a fortress city of lights nestled in the darkness of a huge cave. A bride behind a veil of shimmering, falling water. The town of Darkness Falls.
  47. [2016-05-11 14:11:00] <CopyCat> Here there are more voices. Dozens, perhaps hundreds. The projected wishes of the mare and stallion who'd pulled her from the snow quickly become lost amidst the swirl of shouting consciousnesses. The town becomes seen from a dozen sets of eyes with CopyCat herself viewed from an ever-shifting 3rd person perspective.
  48. [2016-05-11 14:11:29] <CopyCat> She meets pony after pony after pony, each with wants and desires, their thoughts screaming louder than words. A friendly old couple with a place for her to stay above their fruit shop, looking for the child they'd never had. An endless stream of tavern owners and barkeepers, looking for someone to work hard for next to nothing. A sleazy mare looking for someone exotic, beautiful, and gullible.

  50. [2016-05-11 14:12:00] <CopyCat> 03I am a daughter. A barmaid. A waitress. A cook. A cleaner. A whore.
  51. [2016-05-11 14:12:26] <CopyCat> The vision blurs once more, days of life in the city passing in the blink of an eye. Working here and there and everywhere. Draining and exhausting, yet each day basking in the reflected glow of another's happiness. Each day the glow becoming less.

  53. [2016-05-11 14:12:46] <CopyCat> Noble Heart and Bookwright and Shatara and Mitzi and Golden Dream stand before her. Curiosity pours from Bookwright, but from Kid there is only a vague disinterest. From Noble and Shatara and Mitzi there is nothing. They speak so much more quietly than the unicorn and earth pony do. Their thoughts and desires are a mystery, she does not know what to be to make them happy.
  54. [2016-05-11 14:13:42] <CopyCat> Yet they want her to go with them anyway.
  55. [2016-05-11 14:14:25] <CopyCat> Another swirl of images. Subduing Black Talon assassins in the Light Bringer Inn with everypony. Helping Get_Lost with a fallen stallion. Trekking, together, over a cold dirt road in the swirl of a snow storm. Running through knee-high drifts as timberwolves howl at their hooves. Finding the Crystal Empire with the group and eating far too many sprinkles while her companions watch and chuckle.

  57. [2016-05-11 14:15:11] <CopyCat> 03I am a friend.
  58. [2016-05-11 14:15:27] <CopyCat> The vision shifts to this very morning, eating a Golden Dream-cooked breakfast with Goldie and Get Lost and Shatara and Bookwright and Mitzi and Noble Heart.
  59. [2016-05-11 14:15:42] <CopyCat> 02Who are you now?
  60. [2016-05-11 14:15:50] <CopyCat> 03I am Me.
  61. [2016-05-11 14:16:00] <CopyCat> -ooo000ooo-
  62. [2016-05-11 14:17:24] <Kkat> 3The Faceless steps away. It's tendrils writhe. It nods approvingly. The other spirits take note, the Fox nodding back with a smile.
  63. [2016-05-11 14:19:30] * CopyCat lets out the breath she was holding, looking a little shaky. She nods with relief.
  64. [2016-05-11 14:20:04] * Golden_Dream often feels muted inside. Whenever you have a specific spice or style of cooking enough, you start to get very, very used to it. Such is life. But when you get to see first hand how much you mean to someone, how strongly you are loved by them, that doesn't really get any less powerful.
  65. [2016-05-11 14:20:41] <Golden_Dream> It's no surprise then, that Goldy wound up becoming a crying mess by the end of that.
  66. [2016-05-11 14:21:23] * Mitzi smiles and pats CopyCat on the head. "Yu eez gud friend. Uh'm glad Uh'm un uv yurs."
  67. [2016-05-11 14:23:51] * Get_Lost smiles a bit, copy's memories are somehow warm
  68. [2016-05-11 14:24:57] * Noble_Heart smiles, just a bit, by the end. SHe was glad to have seen one of her siblings, and friends, have such a chance for personal growth and independence. To know she had a part in that was indeed invigorating.
  69. [2016-05-11 14:25:14] * Bookwright chuckles at the memory of the sprinkles.
  70. [2016-05-11 14:25:24] <Kkat> 3The Fox smiles, watching the friends. Then looks up at The Golden Stag. She gives Him a tug, getting the much larger spirit to look down at Her. There is a moment of silent communication between them.
  71. [2016-05-11 14:26:23] <Kkat> 3The Noble Hunter moves to stand before the griffon, staring down at Shatara...
  72. [2016-05-11 14:26:39] * CopyCat smiles back at Mitzi, enjoying the presence of her friends and the hellhound's comforting touch. "Thank you," she says. "Thank you, all of you."
  73. [2016-05-11 14:28:22] * Shatara can do little but hug the pony. His ears flatten and he lets out a soft 'eep' as the spirit approaches.
  74. [2016-05-11 14:40:35] * Get_Lost cheers for shatara with a quiet woohoo
  75. [2016-05-11 14:42:33] * CopyCat hugs Shatara back, hoping that her presence gives him comfort like he, and her friends, give her.
  76. [2016-05-11 14:58:01] * Get_Lost whispers to the nearest pony "so... i'm in the vespertillo team now? i mean, i'm not against it, i love being a pirate, but... have you seen those teeth?"
  77. [2016-05-11 15:01:42] <Shatara> Two gryphons sat at a spartan steel table, opposite each other. Long shadows on the cold concrete walls behind them, cast by a rather too bright bare light bulb hanging between them. Each wears the distinctive blue and yellow Stable-Tec jumpsuit, with a '94' emblazoned on the flank. Shatara is the younger of the two, and is slumped down, barely looking up from the table as the
  78. [2016-05-11 15:01:42] <Shatara> older, somewhat familiar gryphon speaks. The words his beak forms are not the ones heard: Failure. Useless. Monster. Unwanted. Exile. The words continue as the scene seems to melt around Shatara, forming the entry chamber of a Stable. A stallion delivers a sharp buck from behind, the young gryphon stumbling forward through the open vault door and getting a beakfull of dirt. Cruel
  79. [2016-05-11 15:01:42] <Shatara> laughter sounds behind him, as the screech of metal fills the cave. Hopeless. A glint of metal hits the dirt in front of him, tossed from the closing airlock as an afterthought. It somehow seems more vivid than the walls and ground around it. It's a lowly pistol, the words etched into the slide plainly visible: GIAT INDUSTRIES HI-POWER 9mm PB. But these aren't the words that are
  80. [2016-05-11 15:01:42] <Shatara> understood. Weapon. Protection. Equalizer. Purpose. He picks up the humble pistol, carrying more meaning than even those words can convey. In the stable, he was a failure. With this, he could be something else. A guardian, a soldier, a protector of those without strength of their own against the horrors of...whatever's out there. He stands, looking down the tunnel leading away from
  81. [2016-05-11 15:01:42] <Shatara> the failures of his past, and speaks the first clear words of the vision: "I'm gonna be a mercenary..."
  82. [2016-05-11 15:10:49] <Kkat> 3The Great Hunter considers the smaller griffon for a moment. Then huffs and turns away, walking over to the shaman. The other Great Spirits move alongside him. The Fox scampers between the legs and tentacles of The Faceless, seeming to want Its attention, but then turns Her focus on the shaman as well.
  83. [2016-05-11 15:11:51] * CopyCat hugs Shatara tighter as the vision fades. He wasn't hopeless, or a failure, or any of those things. "You've come so far," she says simply.
  84. [2016-05-11 15:11:59] <Kkat> 3There is a long moment of quiet. Not the unnatural silence of the Spirit of Whispers, but a quiet and intimate conversation.
  85. [2016-05-11 15:13:20] <Kkat> 3The spirit circle breaks. The Noble Hunter jumps to the rim of the cenote above, leaping the entire distance in a supernatural bound.
  86. [2016-05-11 15:13:43] <Kkat> 3The shaman begins to approach the group of ponies and zebras, griffon and hellhound.
  87. [2016-05-11 15:13:47] * Shatara leans on CopyCat, fidgeting a little. He didn't really feel like the hero for hire he'd hoped to become, but at least he had friends.
  88. [2016-05-11 15:14:51] * Get_Lost smiles a bit at shatara "hey, it's okay if somepony doesn't want you around sometimes... equestria is a big place, i moved a lot myself..."
  89. [2016-05-11 15:14:53] <Kkat> 3The Fox turns again to The Faceless, but the other Grand Spirit has already turned It's back. It strides away, sinking into the shadows without further acknowledgement of anyone or anything.
  90. [2016-05-11 15:15:58] <Kkat> 3The Fox's ears flatten, and a few keen listeners hear Her sneeze something that sounds suspiciously like "not a team player".
  91. [2016-05-11 15:17:16] <Kkat> 3Rasdon approaches. "The spirits have spoken."
  92. [2016-05-11 15:17:39] * Mitzi nods to Rasdon. "Dey spoke uh lot."
  93. [2016-05-11 15:17:56] * Bookwright "It seemed more like a huddled mumble to me."
  94. [2016-05-11 15:21:36] <Kkat> 3"There are those amongst you of great nobility and virtue. And there are those amongst you who failed the test of the heart. The weak and craven are too great a threat to allow to remain, but the good should never be sacrificed. And the bond of loyalty that interconnect you, that brought you here in search of your lost, must not be severed."
  95. [2016-05-11 15:23:23] <Kkat> 3Rasdon grimaces. "So you are offered this chance: the prisoners will be returned to you, and you will all leave these lands immediately. You may return home."
  96. [2016-05-11 15:23:30] * CopyCat squeezes Shatara once more before stepping away. "I do have one request of the spirits. Of you, in particular," she says to the Fox.
  97. [2016-05-11 15:24:05] <Kkat> 3"The artifact that allowed you to come here will remain so that you may not come here again, and the gate will be closed."
  98. [2016-05-11 15:24:48] * Noble_Heart frowns and ruffles her feathers. Speaking quietly. "As We expected..."
  99. [2016-05-11 15:25:05] <Kkat> 3The Fox has moved up to the Golden Stag again and seems to be conversing quietly with the statuesque, glowing figure. At CopyCat's words, She turns, Her ears perking.
  100. [2016-05-11 15:25:06] * Shatara relaxes a bit, giving CopyCat a parting nuzzle as she adresses the spirit(s). "That's...good. I mean, we don't belong here anyway, sooo..."
  101. [2016-05-11 15:26:05] <Kkat> 3Cordus Vespertilio steps forward, a protest on his lips. But one stare from The Golden Stag causes the zebra pirate to stop in his tracks.
  102. [2016-05-11 15:27:25] <Kkat> 3Gundi Kifalme respectfully bows, despite looking extremely unhappy. "Most acceptable. Thank you."
  103. [2016-05-11 15:27:44] * CopyCat smiles at the spirit-fox and steps forward. "I would like to give you something."
  104. [2016-05-11 15:27:56] * Bookwright conceals a smile at the zebra's displeasure.
  105. [2016-05-11 15:29:46] <Kkat> 3The Fox prowls forward expectantly.
  106. [2016-05-11 15:31:30] * Get_Lost shrugs "what the fox says..."
  107. [2016-05-11 15:31:56] * CopyCat waits until the fox approaches, then she gives it a hug. "You looked like wanted one of these- Hee! You're all warm and tingly!"
  108. [2016-05-11 15:32:06] * Get_Lost "but... weren't they talking about needing help with some sort of dark entity war or something?"
  109. [2016-05-11 15:33:29] * Noble_Heart shakes her head. "We believe they shall have it well under control. Though perhaps if they truly need aid, they should seek Pandora for that assistance." She smirks slightly at the prospect. This did, after all, have the smell and look of a setup.
  110. [2016-05-11 15:36:49] <Kkat> 3The Grand Spirit of Loyalty wiggles cutely in the hug, then scrambles and escapes. The Fox leaps to the hooves of The Golden Stag, and follows the Grand Spirit of Honesty as He sinks into the water. The water glows brilliantly, like molten gold. Then darkens again.
  111. [2016-05-11 15:38:40] * Bookwright "Are all Grand Spirits that dramatic, or just that one? Oh well."
  112. [2016-05-11 15:39:03] * Get_Lost "aaaaand they're gone... so, we are gathering the guys and then go home?" takes a look at mr vespertillo "uh, may i suggest that we dont' try anything funny?"
  113. [2016-05-11 15:41:43] <Kkat> 3Cordus does not look at all happy about how things are working out... in fact, none of the zebras (including Mwana) do. Chombo looks like she could cry. But Gundi backs Get_Lost's suggestion, and none protest.
  114. [2016-05-11 15:43:03] <Kkat> 3The trek back to the lake is long and dark and unhappily quiet. Several of Rasdon's warriors move along with the group, making sure they do not lose their way.
  115. [2016-05-11 15:44:07] <Kkat> 3Many hours later, they emerge from the frozen forest, hungry and weary.
  116. [2016-05-11 15:44:41] * Get_Lost offers "see: the problem here is that you shouldn't really do the big run... it is wrong. i know that a lost cause is jut that, still... this is not a lost cause. this is your home! your freedom in the land you belong, not... not another place you just pass by!" sighs
  117. [2016-05-11 15:44:49] * Bookwright is silently resolving never to put his tail on the line for untrustworthy pirates ever again.
  118. [2016-05-11 15:45:41] <Kkat> 3Jugeote and Kifaa walk alongside Mwana, who in turn stays closest to Golden_Dream.
  119. [2016-05-11 15:45:46] * Get_Lost "do you want it to be like that? like it happened to me? nowhere to belong, not even caring if you are tolf just to go somewhere else? i don't think. you should stop and draw a line"
  120. [2016-05-11 15:45:57] <Kkat> 3On the banks, they immediately spot the glowing golden form of The Stag waiting for them. The Fox looks up from where she is curled at His feet.
  121. [2016-05-11 15:46:54] * CopyCat waves energetically before approaching with the others.
  122. [2016-05-11 15:47:48] * Get_Lost changelings are taking over your place and not even thinking about sharing. they are turning you into some sort of feeding stock... somepony... or zebra... should do something about that, don't you think? for sure, me and my friends WILL do something about it, but do you really want to be left out?
  123. [2016-05-11 15:48:22] * Shatara walks quietly beside Jugeote, tilting his head at the reappearence of the spirits.
  124. [2016-05-11 15:49:08] * Bookwright "So the big disappearing act was just for Rasdon and company?"
  125. [2016-05-11 15:49:25] * Get_Lost "you got pride, you got the skill, you shoul be on top of the deck and go "heck no! I will kick some gug plot out of my home, not trying to run to nowhere land!""
  126. [2016-05-11 15:50:12] <Kkat> 3The Fox bounds forward. She stops before Golden_Dream, opening her mouth and depositing six glowing seeds at Golden_Dream's hooves.
  127. [2016-05-11 15:50:20] * Get_Lost finally notices fox and stag "uh... did we forget something?"
  128. [2016-05-11 15:51:01] * Golden_Dream blinkyblinks, hugging Mwana somewhere. "Um. Whussis, Great and Powerful... Um. Loyalty?"
  129. [2016-05-11 15:53:31] <Kkat> 3"Your lands are currently ruled by the cruel and capricious Grand Spirit of Chaos. Take these back to your lands." The Fox instructs the gathered ponies. "Plant them together somewhere safe. I have taken one of the seeds you gave me, and put some of myself in it. The Stag has done the same..."
  130. [2016-05-11 15:56:01] <Kkat> 3The Fox looks askance, "I had hoped The Hunter and The Faceless would be so moved by your hearts as to do so as well. But They..." The Fox stops, unwilling to speak directly ill of Her allies. But She snorts something that sounds suspiciously like it involves the words 'playing well with others'.
  131. [2016-05-11 15:56:10] * Get_Lost lets the others do the thing, she is mostly trying to convince a bunch of scaredy pirates to go guardians of the galaxy
  132. [2016-05-11 15:56:53] * Noble_Heart glances towards the others and ruffles her feathers slightly at the prospect. "We are uncertain it would be wise for Us to travel to those lands at this time." She frowns. "But it is true, they should be delivered, somehow." She contemplates that problem.
  133. [2016-05-11 15:57:12] * Bookwright is failing to hide his astonishment. "There are... six seeds. Well. There's a significant number."
  134. [2016-05-11 15:57:37] <Kkat> 3Turning back to the ponies, "But together, The Stag and I have found four others willing to share for the sake of your land. Plant these six seeds together, and they will grow into what you need to free your lands from Discord."
  135. [2016-05-11 15:58:05] * Get_Lost "hey, hey, hey, mister fox, don't feel bad about it, okay? it's called determination. you do what you think is the best, no matter what. the others won't listen? as far as you know it's the right thing, you go on. they don't want to help? it's THEIR problem

  179. [2016-05-11 16:21:09] <Kkat> 3Rainbow Dash spreads her wings, crouching low, then shoots off into the darkness. There is a ripple, and a distant BOOM.

  181. [2016-05-11 16:24:03] * Bookwright huffs. "I think I need a drink. Or to go to bed. Or both. I'm exhausted, can we go back to our own time now?"
  182. [2016-05-11 16:24:03] * Noble_Heart watches Rainbow Dash leave forlornly. Then slowly works up onto the ship. "Alright. Mr. Shatara! Prepare to away anchor! We chart a course through time to return home!"
