Spelty had a fairly standard childhood, though one of her parents passed away at a young age. Money was tight, but not a daily concern. She joined her school's band, frequently switching instruments but never really standing out. Eventually, her surviving parent remarried, and Spelty was suddenly afforded many more opportunities than she previously would have had. In gratitude, she took the last name of her new parent. She eventually settled on the guitar, but heavily preferred vocals, and joined a band. As luck would have it, they managed to gather a local following and their popularity grew. The band's occult-derived themes struck a chord with the growing cult craze, and the band members even followed some cults for a time. The growth of their popularity diminished with the receding fad, but they have developed a centralized base of hardcore fans. The band still plays at concerts, and it is not uncommon for members to be recognized throughout Heizhou.
