  1. >A few minutes before the end of Chapter 7.
  2. >Outside the kitchen, the rest of the Mane Six, whose last experience with you had been in tears, murmur amongst themselves.
  3. >"I'm sure she's just very confused, it must be quite a shock coming from Manehattan to here in Ponyville so suddenly..." Rarity whispers, trying to justify your outburst.
  4. >"Poor thing..." Fluttershy says, "G-Girls? I-I don't want to doubt Twilight, but..."
  5. >Rainbow Dash interrupts the yellow pony, "She'll be fine, she's the Princess of-" The rest of the ponies shush her, she rolls her eyes, "She's the Princess of Friendship, right? I know she'll do just fine raising a foal, I mean, she's got us to support her, right?" She finishes, her voice dropping in volume just a little.
  6. >"Yeah! Twilight's gonna be a great mom for little Green Hornet, I just know it!" Pinkie pipes up, "Unless she gets stressed, or something doesn't go to schedule, or Greenie gets hurt, or someone says something mean, or-" She stops as she scans her friend's faces, "She'll be fine!"
  7. >"Even so, somethin' seems a little off about that there filly..." Applejack says, drawing nods of agreement from Rarity and Fluttershy, but not from Rainbow or Pinkie, who both shake their heads, "Surely y'all can sense it? The girl's too... Well, I dunno what she is!" She says.
  8. >"Sorry about that girls, little Green Hornet here got a little homesick for a moment." Mommy's voice echos through the room.
  9. >The group of ponies turns to see Mommy in the doorway, closely followed by you, the new and improved Green Hornet.
  10. >You almost proudly strut out into the eatery, but seeing the ponies you cried in front of makes you nervous, and you instinctively cling to Mommy's hind leg.
  11. >Mommy, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash giggle, while the other three just look at each other and shrug.
  12. >"Now, I hate to have to cut things short, but we're a little behind schedule." The last word causes everyone but Mommy to look at Pinkie with a skeptical gaze.
  13. >You wonder what that's all about?
  14. >"Oh no, darling, don't let us keep you from spending time with your daughter." Rarity smiles down at you.
  15. >You beam proudly from behind Mommy's leg.
  16. >Fluttershy slowly makes her way up to you as the rest of the big ponies talk for a little while.
  17. >"H-Hi there..." Yellowquiet gets closer to you than she did while you were human, which was pretty close.
  18. "Hi Miss 'Shy!" You respond in a bubbly fashion.
  19. >"O-Oh, you don't have to call me 'Miss', just 'Auntie' Fluttershy is fine... Unless you want to call me Miss, it's up to you..." She rushes the last part of her sentence, a red blush spreading across her face.
  20. "Okay, 'Auntie' 'Shy!"
  21. >She blushes harder, letting out a quiet but joyous squee.
  22. >"N-Now, if you need anything, d-don't forget that you can always ask us for help, o-okay?" She's gaining confidence now, seems she's better with foals than humans, she always just tried to probe you without being noticed, much less talked to.
  23. "Alright, I will! But I'm sure mommy will be able to help with anything I need." You reassure her.
  24. >"Not if you need help getting away from 'Mommy'..." Fluttershy mutters to herself.
  25. "Sorry, what was that?" You ask, oblivious to her concerns.
  26. >"N-Nothing!" Fluttershy exclaims, jumping in surprise as you break her from her thoughts.
  27. >"Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to make our way to the schoolhouse," Twilight finishes talking to the others as you and "It's time to meet your new schoolteacher!" She says to you, turning and walking for the door, "Come on, sweetie!"
  28. >You hurry after her.
  29. "Yes Mommy!"
  30. >The crowd of journalists has mostly dispersed at this point, having given up on asking any questions.
  31. >A few still remained, and took photos of you as you trot along behind Mommy. You pay them no mind, you feel at peace with anything so long as Mommy's with you.
  32. >Eventually, they get bored of just watching the two of you walk along, and walk off to deliver all of the photos they took to the papers and magazines they work for.
  33. >"Isn't this exciting, You get to realearn everything!" Mommy say as you speed up to walk beside her, "You even get to redo all of your tests, I wish I was as lucky as you!"
  34. >You aren't too keen on learning everything again. But seeing as you've already passed high school, there shouldn't be anything too hard.
  35. >"I suppose you've already learned things like Equestrian and Numeracy back when you were human, and you have me to help you study for everything you don't know. I expect grades befitting of your status as a princess of Equestria," Mommy's tone changes to an authoritarian one, "Or rather, befitting of your status as my daughter." She finishes with a much warmer voice.
  36. >You arrive in front of the schoolhouse, Mommy stops, but you keep walking past her.
  37. >"Wait! We need to make sure you look your best for when I present you to Miss Cheerilee, I don't want to make a bad first impression as a parent, that could make her not want to communicate with me and..." You decide to block out the rest of her rambling as she straightens your mane and tail.
  38. >You suddenly feel kind of nervous to meet her, what if you don't like her? What if she doesn't like you?
  39. >"And... Done!" Mommy finishes grooming you and walks towards the doors of the schoolhouse.
  40. >You take a deep breath as she knocks, the door almost immediately opening to the smell of chalk and crayons. Miss Cheerilee stands to welcome the two of you into the room.
  41. >"P-Princess Twilight, you're... R-Right on time!" She stutters nervously, bowing her.
  42. >"H-Hi, Miss Cheerilee" Mommy says, looks like they're both just as nervous as you are.
  43. >"And hello to you, young Princess Hornet." She leans down to your height, bowing her head, she seems much more confident talking to foals than she is talking to adults, you suppose that's what makes her so fitting for the role of a teacher.
  44. >You, however, are not so confident.
  45. "H-H-Hi Miss Ch-Cheerilee!" You say, forcing a smile as you shake in front of your teacher.
  46. >Cheerilee giggles, "No need to be so nervous around me, Princess, I'm just a schoolteacher." She turns back to Mommy, having gotten control of the situation, "Would you like to have a seat?" She asks, pointing to the two chairs next to each other in front of her desk.
  47. >Twilight takes a deep breath, "With pleasure!" She says as she walks over to the desk, her own nerves gone.
  48. >You're still just as nervous, though, wobbling over to sit beside Mommy. Cheerilee sits opposite the two of you.
  49. >"Now, I understand that Princess Hornet-" Cheerilee begins.
  50. >"Oh, there's no need for such extravagant titles, Miss Cheerilee, I don't want to seem like I'm using my status to change my daughter's schooling experience." Mommy interrupts, as if by clockwork, you wonder how many times she said that in a mirror before you came the the schoolhouse.
  51. >"O-Oh, okay!" Cheerilee is caught slightly off guard by Mommy's prompt response, "I understand little Miss Hornet here is looking forward to coming to school tomorrow!" She says, prompting both of the mares to look at you, snapping you out of your thoughts.
  52. "Y-Y-Yeah! I'm really looking forward to coming and learning about all the cool stuff I missed out on in Manehattan!"
  53. >By now, your mind has filled in the blanks of your story, making it exactly how you like it, and how Mommy would approve of it. It's not just a cover story anymore, it's as good as your real life's story.
  54. >"That's good! We love having eager new students join the school," She says to you before turning to Mommy "Will she be joining the unicorn training school, too?" She asks.
  55. >"Yes, I can teach her at home, but I'd love to have her learn amongst her peers, too." Mommy responds quickly.
  56. >Cheerilee nods, pulling out a stack of paperwork and making Mommy beam with happiness. She really, really, loves paperwork.
  57. >"I'll need all of these checked, signed and brought into school with her tomorrow." She instructs, placing it in front of Mommy, who magics the stack away to who knows where, "Green Hornet, sweetie, do you mind waiting outside for a couple of minutes while your Mother and I discuss a few things?" She asks you, "You can go play outside on the playground if you want, there may even be some of your classmates out there for you to make friends with before school starts!"
  58. >You nod quickly, rushing out the door to the side of the building. You sigh as you close the door behind you, you couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough. You look over at the playground, a few colts and fillies are playing on the slides and swings, you figure you may as well go introduce yourself...
  59. >Be Cheerilee.
  60. >The princess just adopted an orphaned foal and brought her to you to sign her up for classes.
  61. >This is a big deal, if you mess up, she could easily destroy your career.
  62. >Dealing with adopted foals can be tricky because their peers sometimes have no filter whatsoever, causing damage to the orphan's feelings without actively trying.
  63. >You'll have to keep a close eye on little Hornet.
  64. >The door closes and the filly runs off to play in the playground. Time for some adult stuff.
  65. >"What is it you wanted to talk about, Cheerilee?" Twilight asks eagerly.
  66. "Princes- Twilight," You correct yourself, "Are you aware that raising a foal can be... Rather stressful?"
  67. >"Huh? Of course I know that."
  68. "No offence, but in the past, you've been known to uh..." You trail off, looking for the right words.
  69. >"Crack under pressure?" She suggests
  70. "Yes, crack under pressure."
  71. >"I see your concerns, it may look like I am not suitable for being a mother, but I assure you that I will put her before myself. Always."
  72. >You nod, she seems sincere.
  73. "Also, there are studies that suggest that raising an orphan can be even worse, many of the foals from orphanages have severe mental diseases from abuse and mistreatment. As well as the fact that she has no father figure, there is a great risk of something quite severe happening in the classroom between her and the other students"
  74. >"Are you suggesting that my foal will become violent towards her peers, Miss Cheerilee?"
  75. "Not at all, Miss Twilight, I suggest that it may be the other way around."
  76. >"The other way around? Greenie will be... Bullied?"
  77. "It's not certain."
  78. >"Do you think any of your students would do such a horrible thing?"
  79. >You think for a moment.
  80. "No. I do not."
  81. >"Well then, that settles that. I can only use information provided by the teacher to gauge my daughter's situation, if you don't think it will happen, then I'm trusting you to make sure it doesn't."
  82. "Of course, I know my students are kind, sometimes they can say things without thinking, but such is life as a foal, right?"
  83. >Twilight laughs, "Of course."
  84. >Be Green Hornet again.
  85. >You just got shoved off the swing set. Again.
  86. "Use the other set of swings! I got here first!"
  87. >"Hah! You blank-flanked bitch, thinking that just because the Princess adopted you, you're better than somepony with a cutiemark." A plump brown colt stands over you, sneering at you as his raspy, pre-pubescent voice scolds you for just trying to use the playground.
  88. "Stuff off, I just wanna use the swings!" You spit back at him.
  89. >His smirk turns to a frown.
  90. >"You don't get it, bitch, I have money, I have a cutie mark, I have friends. Unlike you, you slimy, filthy, friendless, blankflanked-" He suddenly falls over, having the wind knocked out of him.
  91. >"Piss off, Moneybags, she didn't do anything to you." A brown colt stands before you, his colorful propeller cap spinning on it's axis. His voice is gravelly, much like the foal he just punched, but it's sweeter. Much... Much... Sweeter...
  92. >Moneybags' posse glares at your saviour, who holds up his hoof, time seems to move in slow motion as he raises it to hit someone again, before returning to normal as he picks you up and runs to the other side of the playground with you on his back.
  93. >"Sorry, I couldn't fight all of them..." He says, flopping over onto the ground as Moneybags stands up and runs away, his clique following along closely, shouting threats at the colt and yourself, "That was super uncool, huh..."
  94. "No way! You were so cool, standing up for me like that," You say, hopping to your feet, "You were like, bam, boom, crash!" You exclaim, accenting each word with a mock punch before falling to the ground next to him.
  95. >"You really think so?" He asks, looking into your eyes.
  96. "Yeah! I'm Green Hornet, what's your name?"
  97. >"I think everyone from here to Canterlot knows your name by now, Princess, I'm Button Mash, knight, adventurer, and damsel-in-distress saver extraordinaire!" He says, hopping to his hooves again before quickly lifting his hoof, "Ow..."
  98. >You giggle.
  99. "Well, seeing as I am a damsel, and I was in distress," You say standing up next to Button, "I suppose I should reward you for your service as my knight!" You say, holding out a hoof towards him.
  100. >Button leans in and pecks your outstretched hoof, causing you both to blush furiously.
  101. >"M-Milady~" He says.
  102. >The doors of the schoolhouse burst open.
  103. >"We heard something that sounded like fighting, is everything oka..." Mommy stands in the doorway, her voice trailing off as Cheerilee bursts out laughing.
  104. >Both you and Button look away from each other, your faces turning a hot red color.
  105. >"Th-This isn't what it looks like! We were just..."
  106. "Button was telling me about this game he plays where he saves princesses!"
  107. >"Yeah, that's what it was!"
  108. >"Riiiight, well, what were those sounds we heard?" The teacher asks, raising an eyebrow.
  109. >"Just some colts helping me play the game with Princess Hornet!"
  110. >"And your hoof, why is that all red, roughhousing isn't allowed in the playground, you know this, Button."
  111. >"I-I just stubbed my it when I was playing!"
  112. >Cheerilee sighs and shakes her head, "If you say so," She turns to Mommy, who's face is still bright red, "Miss Twilight, I have to get back to work, I'm sorry for taking up so much of your time."
  113. >"O-O-Of course! I'll let you get r-right back to it!" Mommy stutters.
  114. >"And Button, make sure you're on time tomorrow, don't stay up too late playing those games of yours." She calls out to Button.
  115. >"Yes Miss Cheerilee..." He groans.
  116. >He's in your class?
  117. "Are you in my class?"
  118. >"Yeah!" Button looks at the clock tower in the distance, "Oh no... Mom's gonna be worried sick! I gotta go, see you in class, Princess!" He says, running off into the distance.
  119. "See you!" You call after him. He’s in your class!
  120. >Wait, why do you care so much again?
  121. >"We'd best be going too, it's getting late, and we still have to go shopping for stationary, we'll head home and rest for a little while and go out later." Mommy says, trotting up next to you as you watch the brown colt's propellor slowly disappear.
  122. "H-Huh? What'd you say?" You suddenly realise that Mommy had spoken to you.
  123. >Twilight sighs and repeats what she just said.
  124. >Cheerilee just watches from the doorway as you and Mommy head on home.
  125. >She sighs before closing the door and going back to marking tests.
