  1. Megaten games suggested versions:
  2.
  3. Megami Tensei 1 & 2:
  4. There's a translation patch available for the SNES remake of both games, kyuuyaku megami tensei:
  5. http://aerie.wingdreams.net/?p=283
  6.
  7. Shin Megami Tensei 1:
  8. IF YOU KNOW GOOKRUNES: GBA/iOs/Android version has new story content and rewards for getting all the endings
  9. IF YOU DON'T KNOW GOOKRUNES:
  10. There's an official english release, unfortunately it's only on iOs. It's based on the GBA version but with the PSX version music, so it includes everything from that version.
  11.
  12. Alternatively, there's an english patch for the SNES version:
  13. http://www.romhacking.net/translations/571/
  14. There's also a second patch which fixed all the bugs and updated the names to be coherent with the official translations:
  15. http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/988/
  16. Optional - a patch to tie automap to a single button:
  17. http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/907/
  18.
  19. Shin Megami Tensei 2:
  20. IF YOU KNOW GOOKRUNES: GBA/iOs/Android version has new story content and rewards for getting all the endings
  21. IF YOU DON'T KNOW GOOKRUNES:
  22. There's a translation patch for the SNES version:
  23. http://www.romhacking.net/translations/687/
  24.
  25. Shin Megami Tensei If...
  26. IF YOU KNOW GOOKRUNES: PS1/Android/iOs version have improved graphics and dungeon navigation
  27. IF YOU DON'T KNOW GOOKRUNES:
  28. There's an english translation being worked on for the SNES version:
  29. http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=smtif
  30.
  31. Shin Megami Tensei 3
  32. The official english release (both american and european) is based on the MANIAX expansion of the game, so you are not missing anything.
  33. There's a japanese only version called Maniax Chronicles which replaces Dante with Raidou Kuzunoha, but changes nothing else.
  34.
  35. Majin Tensei 1&2
  36. Aeon Genesis announced translations for both of them ages ago, nobody else has shown interest in working on them yet.
  37. The japanese SNES version is the only way to play these games for now.
  38.
  39. Last Bible games:
  40. Last Bible 1 has a game gear remake which is miles better than the original but it's JAPANESE ONLY.
  41.
  42. The GBC version has an official english release titled Revelations: Demon Slayer.
  43.
  44. Last Bible 2 GBC version has an english patch:
  45. http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1392/
  46.
  47. Last Bible 3 (SNES) and Special (gamegear) are JAPANESE ONLY
  48.
  49. Another Bible (GB) has an english patch:
  50. http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=anotherbible
  51.
  52. Devil Summoner games:
  53. Devil Summoner 1 is JAPANESE ONLY. The psp version is a slight improvement over the saturn version.
  54. Devil Summoner 2: Soul Hackers has an english release on the 3ds which is, aside from a few bugs, the most complete version of the game.
  55.
  56. Persona games:
  57. Persona 1: psp remake + music patch to restore the original ost, it has all the content that was missing from the official US ps1 release and a new translation without changed names / portraits.
  58. Music patch: https://mega.nz/#!HJEXHJqC!ky5Ra5W8n5zJr12JMDWWHuH1w0zFpwnbZvCCTymzMAI
  59.
  60.
  61. Persona 2 innocent sin: PS1 version with translation patch (The psp version is pretty much the same but slightly censored, they removed swastikas and never call hitler by his name, he now wears a coat and a pair of sunglasses, and they removed all gay jokes and references to gay romance.)
  62. Translation patch: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/1249/
  63.
  64. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment: psp version with translation patch (IT STILL ISN'T OUT, but the psp translation patch will have the original names (the psx version uses the persona 1 edited names for the returning p1 characters) and the new scenario bridging persona 2 and 3 fully translated, but while you are waiting the US psx version is perfectly fine)
  65. Translation thread: http://gbatemp.net/threads/persona-2-eternal-punishment-time-for-a-fan-translation.344765/page-16
  66.
  67. Persona 3: PS2 FES edition for everything but the female route, P3P for female route. I personally think that p3p made the game way too easy but that may be just me, but the graphics are severely downgraded, anime cutscenes were removed and the post-game quest that answered some of the plot questions was also removed, so I'd suggest playing through P3FES first and then switching to p3p after a playthrough if you want to see the female story.
  68.
  69. Persona 4: Golden on vita or pstv on hard mode. It seems to me that they made normal mode easier, other than that though it has much more content than the ps2 version
  70.
  71. Devil Survivor 1&2
  72. Both these games have expanded remakes on the 3ds which both got english releases, so obviously you should play those over the DS versions
  73.
  74. I skipped through games that only had one version or no translation patch because the answer is obvious (Like ronde, giten megami tensei, digital devil saga 1&2, Persona Q, the raidou games, Strange Journey, smt4 etc.
  75. None of the devil children games were ever translated and only the first two got a psx remake.)
