Charlie Kalash's Ultimate KotOR II Modlist

Knights of the Old Republic II is known for having a truly great modding community that has been around and active for years. But as mods have lost support, or the years have gone by, what is quintessential? What is necessary? What mods do you NEED without breaking your game?

I put this list together after several run-throughs so you don't need to spend hours figuring out what's good and what isn't. This includes the final version of the TSLRCM, or "The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod." This keeps the gameplay mostly vanilla, restores as much of the cut content as the team could restore, and also adds some fun additions, such as the High Level Force Powers for those that reach the 20+ level area and want something to reward you for it. I DO recommend you read the read-me's for installation instructions, but most consist of either dragging everything to the Override folder in your KotOR II directory, or pointing the TSLPatcher to your KotOR II directory.

NOTE: IF SOMETHING USES THE TSLPATCHER, SERIOUSLY, ONLY DIRECT IT TO YOUR KOTOR II DIRECTORY. -NOT- YOUR OVERRIDE FOLDER.

ALL OF THESE MODS HAVE BEEN TESTED TO WORK WITH BOTH THE STEAM AND ORIGINAL DISC VERSIONS OF KOTOR II ON WIN7 64-BIT QUAD-CORE. NO ISSUES HAVE COME UP AND THIS LIST IS FULLY COMPATIBLE IF THE FEW INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOLLOWED! FOR THE SAKE OF STABILITY, I AM KEEPING M4-78 OUT OF THIS LIST UNTIL IT IS IN A FINAL, RELATIVELY BUG-FREE RELEASE STATE.

ALSO NOTE THAT SOME MODS REQUIRE CONSOLE COMMANDS TO GET THE ITEMS IN-GAME. TO ENABLE THE CONSOLE:

In your game dir edit swkotor.ini and under [Game Options] add EnableCheats=1 then when playing press ' to bring down console and enter any of these cheats.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK READ-ME'S FOR ANY ITEMS TO MAKE SURE IF THEY NEED CODES TO USE IN-GAME!

Ultimate Saber Mod is completely incompatible with 1.8 of TSLRCM. Or not! After some digging, it would appear that there IS, in fact, a way to make USM -MOSTLY- work. You can have the sabers, themselves, but not the other goodies like having your party members make their own saber through dialogue, or have Bao-Dur make sabers for you.

And using the HAK-PAD you can get ALL of the sabers just for general use. The process is as follows:

1.) Install whatever mods you want.
2.) Download the Ultimate Saber Mod:

3.) Open the Override folder found in the download.
4.) Move ONLY any and all .TGA, .TXL, .MDL, .MDX, .UTI, .PWK, and .UTP files into YOUR Override folder in the KotOR II directory. DO NOT MOVE ANY .DLG, .NCS, .2DA, or .LIP over. THIS WILL BREAK SHIT.
5.) Install the Hak-Pad USM Shop Add-On after installing the regular Hak-Pad, listed below:

6.) Cheat the Hak-Pad ingame. Use it to get whatever USM sabers you want.

And there you have it! A workaround to MOSTLY make USM work with 1.8. It doesn't equip Jedi or Sith with their special sabers, sadly, but I might experiment with this to look into a possible workaround to that, too.
