  1. [2012-11-10 15:54:12] <Falconis> OKAY
  2. [2012-11-10 15:54:16] <Falconis> WHEN WE LAST SAW OUR HERO
  3. [2012-11-10 15:54:27] <Falconis> he arrived in Forbis
  4. [2012-11-10 15:54:57] <Falconis> just dropped off by the Victorias secret after escaping a bad situation in Minerva by the skin of his teeth
  5. [2012-11-10 15:55:48] <Grail> First stop: his cousin's place
  6. [2012-11-10 15:55:49] <Falconis> It is a small coastal town that has an air to it much like that of Minerva
  7. [2012-11-10 15:55:55] <Falconis> that being, fish (heh)
  8. [2012-11-10 15:56:05] <Falconis> TO THE COUSINS HOUSE
  9. [2012-11-10 15:56:17] <Grail> He needs a base and someone to mooch off of
  10. [2012-11-10 15:56:42] <Grail> And who can turn down family?
  11. [2012-11-10 15:58:01] <Falconis> You leave the docks and head on out into the still sleeping city. The glow of the sun barely peeking over the horizon. It takes you little under an hour to find your cousins place, would have taken you longer if you hadn't recognized the nameplate on the outer wall.
  12. [2012-11-10 15:58:09] <Falconis> Seems you cus has moved up in life
  13. [2012-11-10 15:58:19] <Falconis> (do you have a name or shall I supply such?)
  14. [2012-11-10 15:58:32] <Falconis> (for him >_>)
  15. [2012-11-10 15:58:35] <Grail> (Feel free to come up with one)
  16. [2012-11-10 16:00:49] <Falconis> The house is a stately three story affair with wide, well manicured grounds surrounded by a tall wall. An elegant gate of twisted metal greets you. Locked
  17. [2012-11-10 16:01:04] <Grail> Hadrian adjusts himself, makes sure his armor and weapons are concealed beneath his cloak.
  18. [2012-11-10 16:01:06] <Falconis> You see what must be a guard on the other side, sleeping
  19. [2012-11-10 16:01:35] <Falconis> they are adequately concealed
  20. [2012-11-10 16:02:25] <Grail> Hrm, now that's a problem. "Hey, you, guardsman, I request entry. I'm Hadrian, kin of the man whose home you guard."
  21. [2012-11-10 16:03:07] <Falconis> oh right, the nameplate says 'Rutherford', embossed bronze. His name is Celias.
  22. [2012-11-10 16:05:12] <Falconis> The guard wakes with a start and almost falls off his chair. He looks at you with half angry, half groggy eyes and slowly raises. "Ey you, shove off. Mr Rutherford has nothing for you beggars."
  23. [2012-11-10 16:07:26] <Falconis> He wipes a bit of droll off the corner of his mouth and swaggers forward.
  24. [2012-11-10 16:07:32] <Falconis> drool*
  25. [2012-11-10 16:07:43] <Falconis> >_
  26. [2012-11-10 16:09:07] <Grail> Hadrian is suitably annoyed, but works himself into an even bigger huff for dramatic effect. He unhoods himself, hoping the family resemblence will add impact and starts half yelling at the guard. "Look, you, I am not a begger. How dare you insult the family of your employer, the man you keeps food in that overstuffed belly of yours. Do you really want to risk your cushy job here?"
  27. [2012-11-10 16:12:40] <Falconis> The man pales noticeably as you say the words 'family' 'risk' and 'job'. "M-my apologies sir, I didn't recognize you. Early morning, you know how it is."
  28. [2012-11-10 16:13:12] <Falconis> He fumbles with a ring of iron keys and approaches the gate "It's just that we always get callers around here, asking for money and watnot"
  29. [2012-11-10 16:13:42] <Falconis> after a few long seconds of fiddling with the lock, the guard opens the gate and stands to the side
  30. [2012-11-10 16:14:29] <Grail> He just gives the guard some condscending nods as he speaks, pretending to not pay him any further attention as he speaks and walks through the gate when it opens.
  31. [2012-11-10 16:15:08] <Grail> He approaches the main door and knocks
  32. [2012-11-10 16:15:37] <Falconis> He shuts it behind you with a clang. He mumbled something about no harm being done and not telling the master as you walk off
  33. [2012-11-10 16:15:53] <Falconis> you get exactly one knock in before the door opens
  34. [2012-11-10 16:16:15] <Grail> Hadrian wonders what he'd need to steal to get service like that
  35. [2012-11-10 16:16:24] <Grail> Probably a crown or something, those are worth money
  36. [2012-11-10 16:16:34] <Falconis> A short, thin man stands before you. You would have taken it for a child if not for the magnificent beard he sports.
  37. [2012-11-10 16:17:00] <Falconis> [???]"Yes?"
  38. [2012-11-10 16:18:07] <Grail> "My name is Hadrian, Hadrian Sweiss. Cousin of Celias Rutherford. I have need to talk with him."
  39. [2012-11-10 16:18:17] <Grail> Man he hates being all formal like that
  40. [2012-11-10 16:18:19] <Grail> Not his style
  41. [2012-11-10 16:20:10] <Falconis> The man looks you up and down, casting a condescending eye over every inch of your attire and bearing. [???]"The master has not informed me that he was expecting someone, though," He smiles wryly ,"The family resemblance is unmistakeable. Please follow me master Sweiss"
  42. [2012-11-10 16:20:26] <Falconis> He opens the polished oak doors a bit wider for you to step in
  43. [2012-11-10 16:22:19] <Grail> Hadrian marvels a bit at the opulance, under other circumstances this would be just the type of place he'd want to hit if he had the skills. He follows through the oak doors and continues scanning.
  44. [2012-11-10 16:22:53] <Grail> How on earth did Celias pull off all of this?
  45. [2012-11-10 16:23:06] <Falconis> The man shuts the doors behind you and walks off through a passageway [???]"I shall fetch the master, please, make yourself at home"
  46. [2012-11-10 16:23:24] <Falconis> words incoming
  47. [2012-11-10 16:28:05] <Grail> For reference, as I've just decided this, Hadrian is of course a fairly large man. He's got a tall frame and wide set shoulders, but food was never particularly easy to come by growing up so he's thinner. He's got some strong family features, yellow curls, dark eyes heavily set in his face, and rounded facial features. He's clean all things considered, but he probably smells like the sea, fish, and a touch of alcohol.
  48. [2012-11-10 16:28:41] <Falconis> The place looks like it came straight out of a storybook. A wide foyer lit by a large crystal chandelier and covered wall lamps cast a soft golden glow around the room. A red carpet leads from the door right up a stone spiraling staircase which branches off to every floor at three different points. Wide passageways flaked by polished marble columns lead to other rooms. Various other signs...
  49. [2012-11-10 16:28:41] <Falconis> ...of opulence a scattered about, a painting here, a plant there, a bowl of golden fruit even a tiny indoor fountain.
  50. [2012-11-10 16:29:03] <Falconis> kk
  51. [2012-11-10 16:29:12] <Falconis> >_
  52. [2012-11-10 16:30:41] <Grail> Golden fruit?
  53. [2012-11-10 16:30:54] <Grail> It's thing like this rich people, things like this, that make people steal from you
  54. [2012-11-10 16:31:01] <Grail> Hadrian looks for real fruit
  55. [2012-11-10 16:31:24] <Falconis> only in this room or other rooms?
  56. [2012-11-10 16:31:33] <Grail> In this room
  57. [2012-11-10 16:32:43] <Falconis> You look around for real fruit for a little bit, and find nothing, not one bit of real fruit. Not even a single grape. Not even a rasin.
  58. [2012-11-10 16:33:10] <Grail> He makes a mental note to rob a fruit vendor later
  59. [2012-11-10 16:33:30] <Grail> Takes a seat in one of the chairs
  60. [2012-11-10 16:33:49] <Falconis> You hear heavy footsteps and muffled cursing coming from a side passage
  61. [2012-11-10 16:34:46] <Grail> Turns his head towards the source of the noise and looks expectantly in its direction
  62. [2012-11-10 16:36:19] <Falconis> The doorman from earlier comes out, carrying a lantern and followed by the unmistakeable frame of your cousin. Celias is wearing a two sizes two big nightshirt and a floppy hat. He curses about 'all hours of the morning' as he comes in and looks around the room. His eyes settle on you.
  63. [2012-11-10 16:37:17] <Falconis> [Celias]"Dammit Hadrian, it's six o clock in the morning. I don't see you for years and you decide to drop by before daybreak?"
  64. [2012-11-10 16:38:46] <Grail> He settles himself "Apologies Celias, but there is a reason this time."
  65. [2012-11-10 16:39:10] <Falconis> Celias is about 5'9" tall, medium build and has unruly black hair. His face and hands sport a number of tiny scars
  66. [2012-11-10 16:41:21] <Grail> Hadrian stands, dusts himself slightly, and returns Celias' gaze. "Minerva was destroyed, not a few hours ago in fact. There was some sort of 'event'. That's really all you could call it. The news probably hasn't reached Forbis yet, but it should soon. I took some fairly unconventional means to get here."
  67. [2012-11-10 16:41:21] <Falconis> He rubs the bridge of his nose with one hand and grumbles about sleep under his breath as he walks towards you. He falls into a comfy looking couch across from you
  68. [2012-11-10 16:42:46] <Falconis> "Unconventional? Unconventional how?"
  69. [2012-11-10 16:43:51] <Falconis> He reaches to the right, a glass of water being slipped into his hands by the doorman, who must also be the butler along with two pills, which he swallows immediately
  70. [2012-11-10 16:44:19] <Falconis> (those commas)
  71. [2012-11-10 16:44:23] <Falconis> (*facepalm*)
  72. [2012-11-10 16:46:57] <Grail> "Private vessel. I happened to be at the docks while it happened and winds of fate saw fit to have some individuals generously allow me passage out of the city before the worst of it happened."
  73. [2012-11-10 16:47:04] <Grail> Always like Celias
  74. [2012-11-10 16:47:19] <Grail> He tells him a city got destroyed and he wants to know about travel affairs
  75. [2012-11-10 16:47:44] <Falconis> damn straight
  76. [2012-11-10 16:50:19] <Falconis> [Celias]"Musta been in a damn hurry to get you here in a few hours. Should tell the boys about that. Now I don't think you came all this way to tell me about Minerva, it's some valuable news but it's not like you. So what do you want then."
  77. [2012-11-10 16:52:28] <Grail> "My home was in Minerva, in fact all my things were in Minerva. I need a place to stay, I wasn't particularly expecting all of this here though, you've done quite a bit of something in the past few years."
  78. [2012-11-10 16:56:17] <Falconis> He smiles and you can practically feel his ego swelling up
  79. [2012-11-10 16:57:13] <Falconis> [Celias]"You like it eh? Best deal I ever ran. Lets just say the last owner of this place had a bit of a gambling problem, and his drug problem was nothing to sneeze at either."
  80. [2012-11-10 16:57:21] <Falconis> Celias chuckles
  81. [2012-11-10 16:59:53] <Falconis> [Celias]"Well if you were looking to stay here, I would tell you to bugger off."
  82. [2012-11-10 17:00:33] <Falconis> "But we're family eh? So tell you what, you can stay here a few days till you get back on your feet. "
  83. [2012-11-10 17:01:04] <Grail> "That's what I wanted to hear!"
  84. [2012-11-10 17:04:34] <Falconis> "Good, good. Just don't bring anything back on my doorstep and we'll call it even."
  85. [2012-11-10 17:04:47] <Grail> "Wouldn't dream of it."
  86. [2012-11-10 17:05:46] <Falconis> He turns to the right and opens his mouth to speak when a cup and saucer of coffee appears if front of him, held by the butler. [Celias]"Ah, thanks Phineas."
  87. [2012-11-10 17:05:52] <Falconis> He sips the coffee
  88. [2012-11-10 17:06:38] <Falconis> [Celias]"Good stuff. Anyway, since im awake i better get going. Having all this is almost more trouble than it's worth. Almost"
  89. [2012-11-10 17:06:55] <Falconis> He raises, cup in hand "If you need anything, just ask Phineas"
  90. [2012-11-10 17:07:02] <Grail> "Got it."
  91. [2012-11-10 17:07:14] <Falconis> he sets off at a brisk pace, disappearing through the door you came in
  92. [2012-11-10 17:07:16] <Falconis> through
  93. [2012-11-10 17:07:17] <Falconis> >_
  94. [2012-11-10 17:07:34] <Grail> "Phineas, where will I be staying here?"
  95. [2012-11-10 17:10:24] <Falconis> [Phineas] "There are several rooms that you may find to your liking master Sweiss. If you are a fan of the mornings I would recommend the rising room. "
  96. [2012-11-10 17:11:48] <Grail> "That will do, I just need somewhere to rest my things. I need to hit the pavement soon, get to work."
  97. [2012-11-10 17:12:31] <Falconis> The short man with the amazing beard cocks and eyebrow and then nods. [Phineas]"Very well, please follow me"
  98. [2012-11-10 17:12:53] <Falconis> with that he turns sharply and heads towards the stairs
  99. [2012-11-10 17:15:57] <Grail> Hadrian follows
  100. [2012-11-10 17:18:26] <Falconis> He leads you up to the second floor and to a room facing east. The room is as lovely as the rest of the house with a few stand outs. One a large, very large, round bed set on a dais facing a wall of curtains which you must assume cover a window, though it would be the biggest window you have yet seen.
  101. [2012-11-10 17:18:33] <Falconis> There is also a tub
  102. [2012-11-10 17:18:57] <Grail> Hot shit
  103. [2012-11-10 17:20:14] <Grail> Hadrian stores all of his nonessential equipment away
  104. [2012-11-10 17:20:42] <Falconis> ...what are those?
  105. [2012-11-10 17:20:48] <Falconis> just want to make sure here >_>
  106. [2012-11-10 17:20:55] <Grail> I have no idea, nothing on his equipment page
  107. [2012-11-10 17:21:29] <Falconis> that's pretty much all you have right about now
  108. [2012-11-10 17:21:37] <Grail> Okay he stores nothing
  109. [2012-11-10 17:21:48] <Falconis> unless you carried anything else with you to go stealing
  110. [2012-11-10 17:22:03] <Grail> Always carry a toothbrush, always
  111. [2012-11-10 17:23:11] <Grail> But no, hell just memorize the layout of the house and where the room is and then call Phineas "Could you run me a bath and set some lunch in a few hours? I'll be out."
  112. [2012-11-10 17:23:24] <Grail> And walks out the door, he has stuff to do, productive stuff.
  113. [2012-11-10 17:24:02] <Falconis> Phineas, of course, sets right to work
  114. [2012-11-10 17:24:08] <Falconis> where too?
  115. [2012-11-10 17:24:19] <Grail> First things first, he needs to get to know his people, the thieves.
  116. [2012-11-10 17:24:34] <Grail> Where are the fences at, people he can sell stolen goods to.
  117. [2012-11-10 17:25:14] <Falconis> well, Celias used to be one
  118. [2012-11-10 17:25:30] <Falconis> among other things
  119. [2012-11-10 17:26:02] <Falconis> namely, loan shark, drug dealer, bet handler and part time thug
  120. [2012-11-10 17:26:20] <Grail> Ours is an illustrious family
  121. [2012-11-10 17:26:23] <Falconis> indeed
  122. [2012-11-10 17:26:50] <Falconis> so, gonna go look for the fences then?
  123. [2012-11-10 17:27:06] <Falconis> you have a pretty good nose for it, so you have a good chance of finding that on your own
  124. [2012-11-10 17:27:29] <Grail> That and soak in the town. Who runs this place, who owns the guards, who (if anyone) guides the thieves of the town.
  125. [2012-11-10 17:27:48] <Grail> He's got a plan cranking through his head right now
  126. [2012-11-10 17:27:52] <Grail> But he needs intel
  127. [2012-11-10 17:28:30] <Falconis> alright, how long are you willing to spend on this?
  128. [2012-11-10 17:29:02] <Falconis> (and do you want to go step by step or quick travel. I'm good either way, just asking)
  129. [2012-11-10 17:29:49] <Grail> The better part of the hours leading up to lunch
  130. [2012-11-10 17:30:33] <Falconis> kk
  131. [2012-11-10 17:30:34] <Grail> And quick-ish, I don't really know how to handle this in character, how to find a fence and all that, but if you think you can throw something at me during the process feel free.
  132. [2012-11-10 17:31:43] <Falconis> ok, gimme a d100 for info gathering. You have a base amount already, but you might get lucky
  133. [2012-11-10 17:32:06] <Grail> .dice 1d100
  134. [2012-11-10 17:32:06] <Classhole> Grail: Average(70.00) Total(70) Rolled(1d100=70)
  135. [2012-11-10 17:34:24] <Falconis> nice
  136. [2012-11-10 17:34:24] <Falconis> k
  137. [2012-11-10 17:37:12] <Falconis> You spend a few hours on the search and find out a few things
  138. [2012-11-10 17:38:54] <Grail> Hadrian is happy he decided not to go for the bath just yet, best to show these people you have some dirt on you, dirt is trustworthy.
  139. [2012-11-10 17:39:26] <Grail> Also at some point during his searches he's going to hide his poison in a tree stump or something
  140. [2012-11-10 17:39:37] <Grail> Doesn't want that in the house
  141. [2012-11-10 17:39:42] <Falconis> The town is basically run by two families, The Sions and The Crows. They used to be one family but they split a few generations ago after a disagreement between the two heiresses at the time.
  142. [2012-11-10 17:40:33] <Falconis> The place is split roughly in half down the main road leading to the docks and people pay taxes to one or the other
  143. [2012-11-10 17:41:38] <Falconis> The guard for this place is split in half like rest, controlled and paid by one of the two using the taxes from the people
  144. [2012-11-10 17:41:42] <Falconis> (or so they say)
  145. [2012-11-10 17:42:18] <Falconis> Sion guards wear blue, Crow guards wear...a darker shade of blue
  146. [2012-11-10 17:42:35] <Grail> Nefarious
  147. [2012-11-10 17:43:06] <Falconis> This is mostly in the background and hardly affects the day to day life of the people and it's still treated as one place by most of the populace
  148. [2012-11-10 17:43:26] <Falconis> though things on the Crow side have a reputation for being a bit more expensive
  149. [2012-11-10 17:45:40] <Falconis> You find out all of this from what seems to be this areas 'crime lord', though he seems pretty smalltime to you compared to donby 3 claws. His name is Phil.
  150. [2012-11-10 17:46:01] <Falconis> >_
  151. [2012-11-10 17:46:09] <Grail> Can't even get a cool nickname
  152. [2012-11-10 17:46:14] <Grail> What a loser
  153. [2012-11-10 17:46:31] <Grail> Okay Hadrian's plan
  154. [2012-11-10 17:47:03] <Falconis> He seemed pretty accommodating, basically said not to make a fuss or the big families will tighten up on crime again, blah blah blah
  155. [2012-11-10 17:47:25] <Grail> He's going to start small, he wants some seed money, how to get seed money? Steal it. He'll spend the night casing out places where he could nick some things and it wouldn't go unnoticed.
  156. [2012-11-10 17:47:56] <Grail> Then he's going to fence the items and use the money to buy up supplies of cheap supplies in bulk, gain, cheap cloth, lumber, a lot of it.
  157. [2012-11-10 17:48:16] <Grail> Why? There are going to be hundreds of refugees making their way here, people who don't have family and lost everything.
  158. [2012-11-10 17:48:43] <Grail> He will then have the monopoly on all the things they need to live, this is how he's going to establish himself.
  159. [2012-11-10 17:50:54] <Falconis> not bad
  160. [2012-11-10 17:51:28] <Falconis> though I think you meant, 'would go unnoticed'
  161. [2012-11-10 17:51:38] <Grail> Of course
  162. [2012-11-10 17:52:36] <Falconis> so you go back to Celias' place for lunch and bath I assume
  163. [2012-11-10 17:53:19] <Grail> Pretty much
  164. [2012-11-10 17:56:28] <Falconis> Ok, you do so, met by the bumbling guard and then Phineas who leads you back to your room and produces a plate of turkey sandwiches and a slightly sour cider for lunch. After that, it's to casing the place
  165. [2012-11-10 17:56:41] <Falconis> focusing on any area in particular or just following da noze
  166. [2012-11-10 17:57:18] <Grail> Following that nose like a toucan after some delicious fruity, circular cereal.
  167. [2012-11-10 17:58:20] <Falconis> lol
  168. [2012-11-10 17:59:43] <Falconis> ok, you leave after lunch and start wandering about town, following your instincts to find places easy to break into and lacking lots of guard patrol
  169. [2012-11-10 18:00:00] <Falconis> as the sun sets, the city starts to turn in and the patrols increase
  170. [2012-11-10 18:00:04] <Falconis> keep going?
  171. [2012-11-10 18:01:55] <Grail> Keep going, I'm not doing anything illegal after all. I don't intend to be seen either, but they can't do anything to me for walking around at night.
  172. [2012-11-10 18:02:34] <Falconis> k\
  173. [2012-11-10 18:03:55] <Grail> I haven't even stolen anything yet.
  174. [2012-11-10 18:04:54] <Falconis> You keep going and mark down about 7 places that suit your needs. It's around midnight when the docks light up.
  175. [2012-11-10 18:07:17] <Falconis> A ship, a large ship that nevertheless looks built for speed stops by the docks. Every inch of it is covered in gold, though you can't tell if it's real or just colour from this far away.
  176. [2012-11-10 18:07:22] <Falconis> >_
  177. [2012-11-10 18:07:43] <Falconis> you also hear a growl to your left
  178. [2012-11-10 18:07:52] <Grail> Turn towards my left
  179. [2012-11-10 18:08:04] <Grail> Growling is more urgent than giant golden ships
  180. [2012-11-10 18:08:32] <Falconis> It's a dog
  181. [2012-11-10 18:08:43] <Falconis> a mangy, stray
  182. [2012-11-10 18:09:00] <Grail> Toss his some jerky I may have in a pouch
  183. [2012-11-10 18:09:03] <Grail> Keep walking
  184. [2012-11-10 18:09:42] <Falconis> The dog scarfs down the jerky, grabbing it out of the air
  185. [2012-11-10 18:09:46] <Falconis> it follows you
  186. [2012-11-10 18:09:54] <Falconis> keep searching?
  187. [2012-11-10 18:10:22] <Grail> Walk towards the docks, see if any people are crowding near or around the ship
  188. [2012-11-10 18:10:27] <Grail> I want to know what's going on
  189. [2012-11-10 18:10:47] <Grail> You don't see something like that every day do you? Might require a change of plans
  190. [2012-11-10 18:11:29] <Falconis> k
  191. [2012-11-10 18:14:44] <Falconis> You go toward the docks. You do notice people there, the vast majority of them guards. The ship has laid out a gangplank and men in golden armour that reflects the light of the lamps on the ship are on the pier. They seem to be talking with some people between them and the guards
  192. [2012-11-10 18:14:46] <Falconis> >_
  193. [2012-11-10 18:16:54] <Grail> Ask the nearest, non guard person "What's going on?"
  194. [2012-11-10 18:18:31] <Falconis> A slightly overweight, raven haired woman with an ample bosom answers you. "I don't really know, it looks like the imperials have shown up for whatever reason, They are talking to the Crows and Sions now"
  195. [2012-11-10 18:19:42] <Grail> "Huh, alright, thanks."
  196. [2012-11-10 18:20:52] <Grail> Try to listen in the to the exchange as best possible, nudge through the crowd, if it's too difficult just leave. Phil should know what happened regardless.
  197. [2012-11-10 18:22:54] <Falconis> [nobleman]"...wear to you sirs, noone arrived at this place last night by sea."
  198. [2012-11-10 18:23:40] <Falconis> [Gold]"She is very slippery, and has known concealing magics, so if you don't mind we would like to take a look anyway"
  199. [2012-11-10 18:25:03] <Falconis> [nobleman]"We would welcome it sir, if not for the hour. If you would wait till the morning to do your search then we will be glad to accommodate. "
  200. [2012-11-10 18:25:17] <Grail> Ah Victoria, that beautifully terrifying woman. Well, I'd better keep low then.
  201. [2012-11-10 18:26:07] <Falconis> [Gold]"Listen to me you puny insignificant man, I have been chasing this woman for years, years. If she's here then I will not wait even one more second to allow her to esca-"
  202. [2012-11-10 18:26:47] <Falconis> A woman calls from the top of the ship, saying that they have picked up traces heading north
  203. [2012-11-10 18:27:19] <Falconis> in a flash, all the guards are back on the ship and the sails have unfurled
  204. [2012-11-10 18:27:37] <Falconis> the ship starts moving off as the gangplank is drawn up
  205. [2012-11-10 18:27:40] <Falconis> >_
  206. [2012-11-10 18:28:01] <Grail> Back home then
  207. [2012-11-10 18:28:50] <Falconis> You leave and head back home. The dog is still following you, a few paces behind
  208. [2012-11-10 18:29:53] <Grail> Ask the bumbling guard to watch it while I enter the house
  209. [2012-11-10 18:30:31] <Grail> Get some dinner and have the scraps sent out. See if they can find a farm or something for it. I don't have time for a dog
  210. [2012-11-10 18:30:33] <Falconis> You are three paces from the door when you hear the guard curse loudly and the dog barking
  211. [2012-11-10 18:30:45] <Falconis> k
  212. [2012-11-10 18:31:04] <Falconis> [Phineas]"I'll see to it sir."
  213. [2012-11-10 18:31:33] <Grail> Then I sleep
  214. [2012-11-10 18:31:35] <Falconis> back at home, haven't seen Celias
  215. [2012-11-10 18:31:38] <Falconis> sleep it is
  216. [2012-11-10 18:32:09] <Falconis> (ill have to edit that wiki entry to show the poison is hidden away)
  217. [2012-11-10 18:32:41] <Grail> (You will, do you want to pause it here? I'm not sure you have seven different places thought up yet and I was going to review those.)
  218. [2012-11-10 18:34:59] <Falconis> (sounds like a plan)
  219. [2012-11-10 18:35:25] <Grail> (Still up for some RP though? We can run the Zhenya thing now if you have time.)
  220. [2012-11-10 18:36:47] <Falconis> not really, was gonna get some work in >_>. I don't think I could do that acceptably right now in any case.
  221. [2012-11-10 18:37:36] <Grail> Aww, alright, well Price and Flake should be by at some point.
  222. [2012-11-10 18:37:52] <Falconis> I'll be ready for the next set in an hour or so
  223. [2012-11-10 18:38:14] <Falconis> suggestions for improvement are always welcome
  224. [2012-11-10 18:42:46] <Grail> Don't have much right now. Feel free to throw me some tough stuff coming into the robberies.
  225. [2012-11-10 18:52:58] <Grail> How'd you feel about that?
  226. [2012-11-10 19:14:21] <Falconis> sounds good
  227. [2012-11-10 19:47:25] <Grail> Ready to go?
  228. [2012-11-10 19:47:55] <Falconis> for your thing?
  229. [2012-11-10 19:48:01] <Falconis> in a sec, wolfing down dinner
  230. [2012-11-10 20:02:43] <Falconis> ok
  231. [2012-11-10 20:02:44] <Falconis> so
  232. [2012-11-10 20:02:57] <Falconis> you wanted to know about the 7 places? or was it something else
  233. [2012-11-10 20:05:44] <Grail> Hadrian wakes up in his comfy bed and the mentally reviews the seven places he thought were viable targets for a heist
  234. [2012-11-10 20:07:21] <Falconis> (please feel free to ask questions or choose targets outside of these)
  235. [2012-11-10 20:08:13] <Grail> (Will do)
  236. [2012-11-10 20:09:50] <Falconis> The first two, and the largest of the bunch, are warehouses. The Crow and Sion places. Big, square buildings that are sure to hold things of at least some value.
  237. [2012-11-10 20:10:29] <Falconis> For the afternoon you were looking, none of the places seemed to have people coming or going but guards when they switched shifts
  238. [2012-11-10 20:11:00] <Falconis> place had plenty guards though. But if he could get in, the probably would find out for days, weeks even. Maybe never
  239. [2012-11-10 20:11:12] <Falconis> wouldn't
  240. [2012-11-10 20:12:56] <Grail> How was it built entrance-wise?
  241. [2012-11-10 20:14:38] <Falconis> wide gate, tall walls. Entrance to the warehouse itself was a large set of double doors, about the width of the gate together.
  242. [2012-11-10 20:15:01] <Falconis> There were a few windows, probably skylights on the roof, but that's just speculation.
  243. [2012-11-10 20:15:13] <Falconis> at least one side door
  244. [2012-11-10 20:15:30] <Falconis> which was just normal person size.
  245. [2012-11-10 20:17:29] <Grail> Hadrian considers it, but chances are the goods within the warehouses are too heavy or otherwise not easy to move. And considers the rest of his options.
  246. [2012-11-10 20:18:18] <Falconis> The next thing on the list was a string of general stores, all under the name of 'Cobbler and sons'. Six of them in total from what he could see walking around the town
  247. [2012-11-10 20:18:40] <Falconis> pretty well stocked, things coming in and out all the time
  248. [2012-11-10 20:19:10] <Falconis> all pretty much look the same from outside
  249. [2012-11-10 20:21:25] <Grail> Promising, seems like the only guards would be patrolling city guards, although the missing goods would be discovered relatively quickly depending on how much I take from each.
  250. [2012-11-10 20:24:41] <Falconis> ...
  251. [2012-11-10 20:25:58] <Grail> Sup?
  252. [2012-11-10 20:26:19] <Falconis> right then. There's also the marketplace, always a chance to nick something there while noone is looking. Chances are they won't find out till the end of the day and by then, how are they going to find you?
  253. [2012-11-10 20:26:39] <Falconis> just thinking
  254. [2012-11-10 20:27:47] <Grail> Hadrian likes the sound of that, it's what he's used to, but it may be too small time to get him the money he needs in the time he needs it. Unless there are some true valuables in the stands like jewels and precious metals on display.
  255. [2012-11-10 20:28:31] [INFO] Now logging to <file:///C:/Users/McCarthy/Documents/Quest/antimatter%20logs/irc.rizon.net/channels/%23anti-matter.2012-11-10.log>.
  256. [2012-11-10 20:29:05] <Falconis> A tannery down by the poor side of town. No guards passed while you were around, and it had been a while since you had seen any guards at all. A good bit of leather can fetch a good price and you seem to remember hearing about the chemicals they use being rather valuable too...but only to tanners
  257. [2012-11-10 20:30:04] <Falconis> there were a few stalls, tiny buildings really, where uncommon valuables were on display, though their owners were a bit more observant than you would like
  258. [2012-11-10 20:30:39] <Grail> I'd need some good hands or a better distraction then
  259. [2012-11-10 20:31:51] <Falconis> An antique store, seemingly manned by only one tiny old man
  260. [2012-11-10 20:32:19] <Grail> Ah antiques, now that sounds like the ticket.
  261. [2012-11-10 20:32:32] <Falconis> when you poked your head in he didn't even seem to notice, just kept on tinkering with whatever he was tinkering with on the counter
  262. [2012-11-10 20:32:52] <Grail> Guard pressence?
  263. [2012-11-10 20:33:27] <Falconis> pretty quiet, he saw two while he was there, but not within earshot
  264. [2012-11-10 20:33:56] <Grail> This is his top pick for now them, even if he's wary of things seeming too good to be true.
  265. [2012-11-10 20:34:10] <Grail> then*
  266. [2012-11-10 20:34:39] <Falconis> last but not least. The Crow house. He didn't get to the the Sion house, but the crow house looked bigger than Celias' place, must be plenty of things in there nobody sees for months on end
  267. [2012-11-10 20:34:52] <Falconis> swarming with guards of course
  268. [2012-11-10 20:36:35] <Grail> Of course, but make off with a couple sacks of golden apples and his plans would be set
  269. [2012-11-10 20:39:54] <Grail> Hadian is going to go for three of those places, because really he needs enough money to buy out quite a few essential supplies here in Trobilis
  270. [2012-11-10 20:40:36] <Grail> He will hit the antique store, the cobbler's chain of general goods, and he will make a play at the house of Crow.
  271. [2012-11-10 20:41:35] <Grail> The last one is motivated, in part, by the desire to see if he can do it. If he keeps going for the easy marks he'll never get anywhere
  272. [2012-11-10 20:42:59] <Falconis> (you're in Forbis, Troblis is where flake died)
  273. [2012-11-10 20:43:19] <Falconis> then so it shall be
  274. [2012-11-10 20:43:30] <Falconis> when shall he undertake these heists?
  275. [2012-11-10 20:43:40] <Falconis> and what shall he do to prepare
  276. [2012-11-10 20:44:40] <Grail> He will do the heists for the first two tonight and then hit the crow house the night immediately after so that his previous crimes are (hopefully) undiscovered and the guard pressence is the same.
  277. [2012-11-10 20:46:25] <Falconis> bueno
  278. [2012-11-10 20:46:50] <Falconis> alright, so it's the start of the day, doing anything before heist time?
  279. [2012-11-10 20:47:43] <Grail> He's going to case out both the shops today at peak business hours and blend in with the other shoppers. Check inventory, how the clearks react, and take note of the interiors a bit more. Then he's going to get bags, lots of bags.
  280. [2012-11-10 20:47:57] <Falconis> The curtains in the Rising room are drawn back, letting in the full might of the rising sun. You can also see the sea.
  281. [2012-11-10 20:48:16] <Grail> Hadrian breathes in the fresh air
  282. [2012-11-10 20:49:19] <Grail> "Phineas I'll take breakfast, I won't be back until the night."
  283. [2012-11-10 20:51:11] <Falconis> The tiny man nods and produces a cup of coffee [Phineas]"The meal will be along shortly sir. Will you be taking it in the rising room sir?"
  284. [2012-11-10 20:52:02] <Grail> "Yes. And if my good brother's generosity extends to lending me a horse and cart my stay will be that much shorter
  285. [2012-11-10 20:52:10] <Grail> "
  286. [2012-11-10 20:54:07] <Falconis> "I'm afraid the master has taken the only carriage out already. He heads to Troblis and will not be back for some time"
  287. [2012-11-10 20:55:47] <Grail> "Very well." and he'll eat his breakfast quickly and carry on with his plans for the day
  288. [2012-11-10 20:57:11] <Falconis> breakfast is delicious
  289. [2012-11-10 20:57:48] <Grail> Hadrian is a thief, he has very poor table manners when he doesn't need to have them
  290. [2012-11-10 20:58:01] <Grail> Breakfast is funneled into his face
  291. [2012-11-10 20:58:14] <Falconis> You spend the day casing the shops
  292. [2012-11-10 21:04:07] <Falconis> By the time you get there, the place is already open and filled with customers. Both seemed designed similarly. A wide entry where 3 or so people could walk through at the same time. The goods are separated from the customers by a solid wooden counter behind which stand a half dozen clerks who take orders and run back into the backarea to recover the goods and collect the gold from customers. Most
  293. [2012-11-10 21:04:07] <Falconis> people seem to know what they want already and there is little haggling here; the little you see attempted is shut down quickly and is usually tied to those slower to order. Seems like Cobbler is quite firm on the prices he sets.
  294. [2012-11-10 21:05:46] <Falconis> Horses drawing carts laden with goods are constantly coming and going, taking good from the pickup areas in the market or dock and bringing them back to the Cobbler place to be stored. Mostly grain and non foodstuffs , things that can be stored for a long time are sold here
  295. [2012-11-10 21:06:02] <Falconis> little by way of fruit or other things that go by days end
  296. [2012-11-10 21:06:34] <Grail> Interesting, do I know if they close at night and what the foot traffic is like at that time?
  297. [2012-11-10 21:06:43] <Falconis> Just general things people need for the day. Lampoil, blades, rope, leather goods, some clothing, etc
  298. [2012-11-10 21:06:50] <Grail> Also where they keep the money?
  299. [2012-11-10 21:09:02] <Falconis> The clerks keep it on themselves in clever pockets until full. Then they usually go into a side room and come back empty. So it's safe to say they keep it in there. A single room to the left of the area. If there's anything else in there you didn't see
  300. [2012-11-10 21:10:21] <Grail> Excellent
  301. [2012-11-10 21:10:21] <Falconis> The shops are open well after nightfall and for a while you begin to wonder if they close at all. Surely enough, they begin to close about 2 and a half hours after dark
  302. [2012-11-10 21:11:06] <Falconis> Wooden doors are drawn closed and chained with iron links
  303. [2012-11-10 21:11:33] <Grail> Brilliant, I'll hit it right after closing.
  304. [2012-11-10 21:12:15] <Grail> It'll require some good lockpicking work on my part, but it sounds good. Hadrian checks on the prices for a horse and cart to rent for a day. He's only got fifteen gold on him, hopefully that would work.
  305. [2012-11-10 21:13:40] <Falconis> not even close
  306. [2012-11-10 21:14:03] <Grail> When it doubt, steal more things
  307. [2012-11-10 21:14:31] <Grail> This is going to require a trip to the marketplace at peak business hours and quick fencing job
  308. [2012-11-10 21:15:47] <Falconis> you can probably fit that in
  309. [2012-11-10 21:16:08] <Falconis> though 'peak business hours' is when you are casing the cobbler place
  310. [2012-11-10 21:16:57] <Grail> Entirely depends on what peak hours are for each shop, but I get you. As long as there are plenty of people around it's good.
  311. [2012-11-10 21:18:59] <Falconis> You get to the marketplace a bit after noon, closer to one. it's packed with people and the sounds of haggling fill the air
  312. [2012-11-10 21:19:24] <Falconis> guards walk around, both light and dark blue, making regular circuits
  313. [2012-11-10 21:20:45] <Grail> I casually walk around, looking for the first stand that strikes me. Small things I can conceal on my person and walk off with.
  314. [2012-11-10 21:21:01] <Falconis> you got food stands, more food stands, a silk place, weapon and armour dealers, an 'exotic wares' merchant
  315. [2012-11-10 21:21:34] <Falconis> and a jeweller, with some amazing looking stuff, not many people around there though, much to his chagrin
  316. [2012-11-10 21:21:54] <Falconis> .dice 1d4
  317. [2012-11-10 21:21:56] <Classhole> Falconis: Average(4.00) Total(4) Rolled(1d4=4)
  318. [2012-11-10 21:23:32] <Falconis> The first target stands out to your honed senses as easy, The exotic wares merchant is haggling with a young lad over a old oil lamp from the desert, he claims it has magical powers and the youth doubts him
  319. [2012-11-10 21:23:43] <Falconis> they are engrossed in the conversation
  320. [2012-11-10 21:25:27] <Grail> His sneak gloves are drawn tighter and he moves quickly to grab an object of clear value. He doesn't care much for grand tales of magic, Hadrian trusts in gold and jewels and things that sparkle so that's what he grabs from the exotic wares stand.
  321. [2012-11-10 21:25:28] <Grail> Roll?
  322. [2012-11-10 21:25:42] <Falconis> yes
  323. [2012-11-10 21:25:46] <Grail> .dice 1d100
  324. [2012-11-10 21:25:47] <Classhole> Grail: Average(68.00) Total(68) Rolled(1d100=68)
  325. [2012-11-10 21:25:56] <Falconis> now roll a d1000
  326. [2012-11-10 21:26:05] <Grail> .dice 1d1000
  327. [2012-11-10 21:26:05] <Classhole> Grail: Average(338.00) Total(338) Rolled(1d1000=338)
  328. [2012-11-10 21:26:29] <Falconis> you get a +10 to the first roll because of the sneak gloves, easy pass
  329. [2012-11-10 21:27:28] <Grail> Nice
  330. [2012-11-10 21:27:36] <Falconis> Hadrian swipes something nice and hand sized. A ruby pendant surrounded by a border of golden metal. It sits heavily in your hand.
  331. [2012-11-10 21:29:10] <Grail> He slips it into one of his pouches, cloak drawn over himself and continues walking.
  332. [2012-11-10 21:29:58] <Grail> If there is an easy mark on the way, like a man whose purse strings are ever so loose on his belt he'll take it. This pretty little piece should buy him as many horses and carts as he wants though.
  333. [2012-11-10 21:29:59] <Falconis> You start to head off, but something else draws your eye on this stand. A beautifully engraved hourglass. The glass is shaped unusually, spirals and swirls where it would normally be just a funnel and the sand dances about in clever loops before making it's way to the bottom globe.
  334. [2012-11-10 21:30:06] <Falconis> Take y/n?
  335. [2012-11-10 21:30:07] <Grail> Oh okay
  336. [2012-11-10 21:30:24] <Grail> Taking that too
  337. [2012-11-10 21:30:35] <Falconis> rollu
  338. [2012-11-10 21:30:39] <Grail> .dice 1d100
  339. [2012-11-10 21:30:40] <Classhole> Grail: Average(72.00) Total(72) Rolled(1d100=72)
  340. [2012-11-10 21:30:49] <Falconis> and your +10, so yup
  341. [2012-11-10 21:31:47] <Falconis> You swipe it with ease, though it was a lot heavier than it looked, and concealed it beneath your cloak
  342. [2012-11-10 21:32:29] <Grail> Hadrian will take a moment to find somewhere private, away from the market stands to more closely examine his ill-gotten goods
  343. [2012-11-10 21:32:48] <Grail> Need to know what you have so the fence doesn't rip you off.
  344. [2012-11-10 21:33:21] <Falconis> simple enough. You find a nice little alleyway out of the way
  345. [2012-11-10 21:33:36] <Falconis> A stray cat the only other living thing in sight
  346. [2012-11-10 21:33:43] <Falconis> it peers at you
  347. [2012-11-10 21:34:04] <Grail> Disregard that cat
  348. [2012-11-10 21:34:09] <Falconis> done
  349. [2012-11-10 21:34:16] <Falconis> now then, da goods
  350. [2012-11-10 21:36:02] <Falconis> http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs28/f/2008/071/5/1/Gold_Pendant___Ruby_by_Dori_Stock.png
  351. [2012-11-10 21:37:29] <Falconis> The ruby pendant is about 2 inches by 1.5 and has a comfortable weight. The golden metal around it...seems to be actual gold and you feel you could bend it with your fingers if your tried hard enough
  352. [2012-11-10 21:38:09] <Falconis> gotta be worth at least 700
  353. [2012-11-10 21:38:37] <Grail> With that much gold and a ruby that big? No way I'm going to let them take me for any less.
  354. [2012-11-10 21:41:23] <Falconis> The hourglass...(no picture avaliable), defies your ability to mentally price
  355. [2012-11-10 21:43:23] <Falconis> The glass, which on further inspection seems to be some kind of clear crystal like rock, swirls in artistic ways and the sand inside casts slight, shifting shadows as it falls making it seem as if teh entire thing is moving. It is set in a frame of what you now realize is sold granite, you could probably brain someone with this.
  356. [2012-11-10 21:43:37] <Falconis> no you could definitely brain someone with this
  357. [2012-11-10 21:44:22] <Grail> Hrm, he'll keep it. A momento of his new start in life.
  358. [2012-11-10 21:44:32] <Falconis> vary well
  359. [2012-11-10 21:44:57] <Grail> He goes to Phil to fence the necklace.
  360. [2012-11-10 21:46:39] <Falconis> You find phil exactly where you found him last time. Sitting on a barrel talking to some kids wearing rags.
  361. [2012-11-10 21:46:44] <Falconis> he looks up as you come
  362. [2012-11-10 21:47:04] <Falconis> [Phil]"Hey, Hank was it? You got something for me?"
  363. [2012-11-10 21:47:54] <Grail> "Sure, Hank. Yeah I've got a little something here. What's with the kids?"
  364. [2012-11-10 21:49:24] <Falconis> [Phil]"Just giving em a few lessons. Give em a chance for somn better you know?"
  365. [2012-11-10 21:49:45] <Falconis> He hops off the barrel and walks up to you, "So what you have then?"
  366. [2012-11-10 21:50:45] <Grail> "A little something." and he dangles the necklace enticingly, letting it sway on the chain (if it has a chain, if not he just flashes it).
  367. [2012-11-10 21:51:29] <Falconis> (nope, no chain, forgot to mention)
  368. [2012-11-10 21:52:30] <Falconis> He whistles, "Nice haul, gonna be hard to find a good place for it though. I'll give you 500 for it"
  369. [2012-11-10 21:53:16] <Grail> "You're joking, see this metal? Gold. Solid gold. You can do better. Hell I could melt it down and get better."
  370. [2012-11-10 21:55:25] <Falconis> [Phil]"Haaaaank, comon man, you know it isn't that easy. You melt that down you lose half the price already. But tell you what, I';m a nice guy, I'll give you 550 and buy you a drink."
  371. [2012-11-10 21:57:47] <Grail> "You know what a nice guy would do? Give me 700. Do you see the rock on this thing? Look at it. It's the size of your thumb. Shine this at somebody you'll make an easy 900. I'm practically giving it away to you for 700."
  372. [2012-11-10 22:01:43] <Falconis> He scratches the back of his head [Phil]"700, now 700 is a bit steep friend. Like I said, no easy market for that round here, might have to make a trip out of town. That's extra on me. Can't give you 700, most I can do is 600, and that's top."
  373. [2012-11-10 22:03:09] <Grail> "You can do better Phil, I know you don't want to let this one go. 650. Final offer."
  374. [2012-11-10 22:07:37] <Falconis> "Fine, 650. But just because it's your first deal." He puts two fingers in his mouth and whistles loudly. After a few seconds, someone runs forward with a bag of cash which he deposits in your hand, taking the pendant(unless you are doing something else)
  375. [2012-11-10 22:09:12] <Grail> The pendant goes, Hadrian happily accepts the gold. "Alright. I'll see you around." and he turns to the kids "Might have a little work for one of you tikes later."
  376. [2012-11-10 22:10:02] <Grail> Walks out the door, to rent/buy a horse and cart and a ton of bags, also some hay to fill up the cart and hide things in.
  377. [2012-11-10 22:11:02] <Falconis> horses go anywhere from 500 to 2000 gold
  378. [2012-11-10 22:11:08] <Falconis> purchase
  379. [2012-11-10 22:11:23] <Falconis> renting a horse and cart costs 75g a day
  380. [2012-11-10 22:11:56] <Grail> Looks like we're renting
  381. [2012-11-10 22:12:41] <Grail> Bags and hay? Like 10-15g or something?
  382. [2012-11-10 22:13:10] <Falconis> 10
  383. [2012-11-10 22:13:43] <Grail> Filling the cart then
  384. [2012-11-10 22:13:55] <Falconis> assuming that you aren't buying a ton of ha- ok then
  385. [2012-11-10 22:14:24] <Grail> Right, I'm set to rob everything in the night
  386. [2012-11-10 22:14:34] <Grail> Also Juroko is here if you want to run something for him
  387. [2012-11-10 22:14:43] <Falconis> yea, gonna cost you about 100-105 gold for all that
  388. [2012-11-10 22:14:51] <Grail> Done deal
  389. [2012-11-10 22:15:22] <Grail> For my own benefit that leaves me at 565g
  390. [2012-11-10 22:16:09] <Falconis> just about
  391. [2012-11-10 22:16:10] <Grail> I'm going to need thousands upon thousands to have to enough to buy out all the goods for resale to the refugees and I only have a couple days until the news starts spreading
  392. [2012-11-10 22:17:55] <Falconis> aye
  393. [2012-11-10 22:19:34] <Falconis> so, gonna run the heists or were you stopping?
  394. [2012-11-10 22:19:40] <Grail> Sure
  395. [2012-11-10 22:19:46] <Grail> I'll go through them
  396. [2012-11-10 22:19:55] <Grail> Seems a waste not to do it after all this build up
  397. [2012-11-10 22:20:06] <Falconis> IT'S TIME TO DUEL
  398. [2012-11-10 22:20:10] <Falconis> *cough*
  399. [2012-11-10 22:20:11] <Falconis> >_>
  400. [2012-11-10 22:20:12] <Falconis> anyway
  401. [2012-11-10 22:20:28] <Falconis> so yea, they locked up for the night and have pretty much buggered offf
  402. [2012-11-10 22:20:38] <Falconis> one or two guards around
  403. [2012-11-10 22:20:47] <Grail> Inside the shop or out on the streets?
  404. [2012-11-10 22:20:49] <Falconis> not directly around, but within vision
  405. [2012-11-10 22:20:52] <Falconis> streets
  406. [2012-11-10 22:21:05] <Grail> Ah okay I'll park the cart a ways away.
  407. [2012-11-10 22:22:37] <Grail> Can I sneak around to the side of one of the many Cobbler's shops while the guards look away? Sneak towards the side or back and lockpick the gates with the building obstructing me from them?
  408. [2012-11-10 22:22:55] <Grail> Or is the building not set up that way?
  409. [2012-11-10 22:25:04] <Falconis> not at the front, but at the back that it certainly possible
  410. [2012-11-10 22:25:13] <Falconis> however, there is a cobbler guard at the back
  411. [2012-11-10 22:27:00] <Grail> That's a problem
  412. [2012-11-10 22:27:35] <Grail> Hrm, how to get him away from his post
  413. [2012-11-10 22:28:08] <Grail> Step a ways off, fire a crossbow bolt into a nearby building?
  414. [2012-11-10 22:28:22] <Grail> That's all I got, and I'm doing it because I want to keep this flowing
  415. [2012-11-10 22:28:59] <Falconis> very well
  416. [2012-11-10 22:30:18] <Falconis> You fire a bolt into the building next door. It hits with an audible THRUMMMMMMMMM
  417. [2012-11-10 22:30:53] <Falconis> The cobbler guard raises from his spot and draws a crossbow of his own
  418. [2012-11-10 22:31:05] <Falconis> he slowly starts making his way over to where the sound came from
  419. [2012-11-10 22:32:32] <Grail> Hrm I don't imagine I could make it over to the building and picks the locks all while he's investigating the arrow
  420. [2012-11-10 22:33:09] <Grail> How much time do I have? That possible?
  421. [2012-11-10 22:33:20] <Falconis> unlikely
  422. [2012-11-10 22:33:28] <Falconis> unless this guy is really meticulous
  423. [2012-11-10 22:33:30] <Grail> Do all six buildings have night guards?
  424. [2012-11-10 22:33:46] <Falconis> yes, they all have exactly one guard out back by the goods door
  425. [2012-11-10 22:34:13] <Grail> Damn uniformity
  426. [2012-11-10 22:34:29] <Falconis> Cobbler's a forward thinker
  427. [2012-11-10 22:34:47] <Grail> Can I have retroactively have gotten one of these kids to pull a distraction?
  428. [2012-11-10 22:35:57] <Falconis> nope
  429. [2012-11-10 22:36:01] <Grail> Okay
  430. [2012-11-10 22:36:08] <Grail> Good thing I came up with a plan in the meantime
  431. [2012-11-10 22:36:36] <Grail> Throwing a rock into the back windows while the guard is distracted
  432. [2012-11-10 22:36:55] <Grail> Hopefully he'll take it as a break in attempt, call the other guards, and leave one of these buildings open
  433. [2012-11-10 22:39:42] <Falconis> for clarity, these buildings are not right next to one another, they are on average 13-15 minutes apart, scattered about the town
  434. [2012-11-10 22:40:39] <Grail> Ah
  435. [2012-11-10 22:41:56] <Grail> How far away are the guards at any given time? Can I just wait until they're out of audible range and knock this guy out? Think I'm going to back out of this one actually.
  436. [2012-11-10 22:43:19] <Grail> I'm having trouble thinking of a way around these guys, didn't really know about them to take them into account for planning
  437. [2012-11-10 22:43:23] <Falconis> The Sion/Crow guards are just in shout range, a calculated posting.
  438. [2012-11-10 22:43:51] <Grail> This is good though, tough, but good.
  439. [2012-11-10 22:44:24] <Grail> My only thoughts are though, in character, to either bribe a guard or just make for an easier target like the tannery
  440. [2012-11-10 22:46:16] <Falconis> what shall your course of action be?
  441. [2012-11-10 22:46:30] <Grail> Guess I'll try bribery
  442. [2012-11-10 22:47:40] <Falconis> so, walking up to the guard then?
  443. [2012-11-10 22:47:56] <Grail> Yup
  444. [2012-11-10 22:48:25] <Grail> Face covered, obviously
  445. [2012-11-10 22:48:28] <Grail> Obscured by cloak
  446. [2012-11-10 22:50:08] <Falconis> ok, RP it
  447. [2012-11-10 22:51:26] <Grail> "Three hundred gold to get lost for a couple hours."
  448. [2012-11-10 22:53:32] <Falconis> The man swivels towards you in surprise and smiles, putting out his hand
  449. [2012-11-10 22:53:39] <Falconis> "Sure, you got a deal"
  450. [2012-11-10 22:54:17] <Grail> He seem honest?
  451. [2012-11-10 22:54:48] <Falconis> honest enough for a guy taking a bribe
  452. [2012-11-10 22:54:55] <Grail> Toss him the bribe
  453. [2012-11-10 22:55:08] <Falconis> He grabs it and buggers off down the road
  454. [2012-11-10 22:55:24] <Grail> No barriers now, time to pick the locks
  455. [2012-11-10 22:57:49] <Grail> Do you want a roll for this or is it assumed since I've got hours to work on this
  456. [2012-11-10 22:57:51] <Falconis> you get round back and start working on dat lock
  457. [2012-11-10 22:58:16] <Falconis> well, it depends on how quickly you want it done
  458. [2012-11-10 22:58:27] <Falconis> You can do this in... 3 minutes without rolls
  459. [2012-11-10 22:58:47] <Grail> Alright let's try for a roll
  460. [2012-11-10 22:58:55] <Grail> .dice 1d100

  464. [2012-11-10 22:59:29] <Falconis> The lock comes open in one smooth motion after about 3 seconds of fiddling
  465. [2012-11-10 22:59:34] <Falconis> the door is no barrier without it
  466. [2012-11-10 22:59:38] <Grail> Wonderful
  467. [2012-11-10 22:59:39] <Falconis> and it is open presently
  468. [2012-11-10 22:59:48] <Grail> Time to scrounge around inside
  469. [2012-11-10 22:59:55] <Falconis> you see
  470. [2012-11-10 22:59:57] <Falconis> THINGS
  471. [2012-11-10 23:00:31] <Falconis> rows upon rows of goods as described earlier, looking slightly ominous in the dark, but more like paychecks
  472. [2012-11-10 23:00:34] <Grail> Yessss
  473. [2012-11-10 23:00:40] <Grail> But first
  474. [2012-11-10 23:00:45] <Grail> Behind the counter
  475. [2012-11-10 23:00:46] <Falconis> The side room sits on the left, enticingly
  476. [2012-11-10 23:00:53] <Grail> I want to be in that side room with the money
  477. [2012-11-10 23:01:02] <Grail> I want to touch it
  478. [2012-11-10 23:01:04] <Grail> Taste it
  479. [2012-11-10 23:01:17] <Grail> Throw it at people

  573. [2012-11-10 23:22:13] <Grail> I've got no idea what I'm looking at per roll. But yay! The safe is open.
  574. [2012-11-10 23:23:01] <Falconis> For non thief related actions, you just roll a flat D100 modified by body condition

  593. [2012-11-10 23:34:05] <Juroko> (becareful, you may wake the accountant. They are a troubling foe.)
  594. [2012-11-10 23:34:13] <Grail> Unless I need like a specialized forgery skill or something
  595. [2012-11-10 23:35:02] <Falconis> no, but you probably need to know how accounts work and come up with a likely place for all the money to have gone
  596. [2012-11-10 23:36:51] <Grail> Nah, not within this humble thug's price range
  597. [2012-11-10 23:37:07] <Grail> Price range? Sorry, skill set.
  598. [2012-11-10 23:37:45] <Grail> He's just going to take the money then. Stuff as many general goods into the bags he got as possible and hide them in his cart on the way out
  599. [2012-11-10 23:38:27] <Grail> The lost money will probably be discovered fairly soon, but eh, he can work with this.
  600. [2012-11-10 23:39:42] <Falconis> alright, You fill up the bags and get them on the cart, it's hard work but Sweiss is pretty beefy
  601. [2012-11-10 23:39:57] <Falconis> would probably be easier if he wasn't carrying all that gear, but eh
  602. [2012-11-10 23:40:25] <Falconis> You fill up and are out before the guard returns
  603. [2012-11-10 23:41:37] <Grail> Load up all those bags into the morning room, Hadrian is pretty sure he doesn't need to hit the antique store too.
  604. [2012-11-10 23:41:59] <Grail> He'll call it a night
  605. [2012-11-10 23:42:57] <Grail> Got a major haul of goods and a fat sack of cash. Something bad will probably happen later, but this went well.
  606. [2012-11-10 23:45:13] <Juroko> (he will awaken the wrath of the accountant)
  607. [2012-11-10 23:45:22] <Falconis> (oh what a wrath it shall be)
  608. [2012-11-10 23:46:04] <Juroko> (the balance must be equal on both sides. By cash or by BLOOD)
  609. [2012-11-10 23:46:22] <Falconis> You get back home to find Phineas has laid out your evening meal already, a succulent steak the centerpiece with a glass of red wine to wash it down.
  610. [2012-11-10 23:46:52] <Falconis> The rising room has more than enough space to hold your dosh
  611. [2012-11-10 23:46:58] <Falconis> heist successful
  612. [2012-11-10 23:48:08] <Falconis> You are now a level 2 thief
  613. [2012-11-10 23:49:53] <Grail> One more step down the long road that is becoming a magnificent enough bastard to hang out with the cool, magical, thief/pirate crowd.
  614. [2012-11-10 23:50:21] <Grail> Also to not being a poor, homeless dude mooching off his rich cousin
  615. [2012-11-10 23:50:44] <Falconis> that too
