- Palutena's Dthrow uair is probably the hardest to learn "hoo hah" in the game.
- It's not as free to land compared to other hoo hahs. It's also the only hoo hah
- that doesn't involve a throw that sends the opponent straight upward (with DI).
- It's very character dependent. Some characters it's pretty easy to land on, others
- it's a bit tricky.
- The main thing that screws over Palu's best kill confirm is rage. With enough
- rage, this stops becoming a thing at kill percents. It usually still works on
- characters that it's easy to land on (except if you have TOO much rage), but on
- harder to land characters, even the littlest of rage can screw it up.
- One important thing to know is that the spin knockback animation that happens when
- people are at 100% plays a big role. This can start working at 95%, because dthrow
- does 5% (unstaled). On some characters, it's only possible if this animation
- happens, or vice versa. It's important to know what characters this affects. It is
- possible to react to what animation they go into and do an appropriate follow-up.
- The best way to DI Palutena's Dthrow to avoid a follow-up uair is down and away.
- It's still possible, just harder. There is actually a downside for the opponent
- DI'ing down and away, it actually makes Dthrow->RAR bair easier to land and works
- to much later percents, so I decided to add Dthrow->RAR bair data as well. I also
- decided to add away DI info because why not.
- Some characters you'll have to short hop the uair to land it because a full hop
- will cause uair's hitbox to whiff. Other characters are pretty free to land on
- that you can just do a full hop uair and it will usually land at kill percents
- every time. Then there are those other characters where Dthrow -> uair is so
- hard/specific to land on them, that it's probably not worth going for on them.
- Usually going for a RAR bair instead or a read is a better option. RAR bair is
- usually a better option anyway because it's easier to land (unless the uair is
- free on them). Hopefully your bair isn't THAT stale. :P
- How to optimally perform Palu's Dthrow->uair:
- Tilt stick 100% recommended (you should be using it already tbh)
- 1. Down throw
- 2. Dash forward asap (buffering it of course)
- 3. Jump + buffer uair during jump squat using tilt stick
- All while holding forward the whole time. Don't let go of forward until the
- uair connects.
- Tilt stick is recommended because if you have smash stick, you get
- a jump canceled Usmash instead of a buffered uair. Practice it for a while to
- learn the jump timing. Jump timings can vary depending on character, which is why
- practicing matters. On certain characters, Dthrow->uair is pretty frame tight, so
- you wanna be as fast as possible.
- Things to note before reading ahead:
- -Everything tested on FD.
- -No rage/No staling.
- -Tested in training mode, so assume the kill percents are 1%-3% sooner than listed.
- -Not all percents are 100% accurate, but you get the idea.
- -Abbreviations: SH = short hop. FH = full hop.
- -If there's no (FH), then a FH uair won't work on that character.
- -If there's no specification on whether it works on a normal or spinning knockback
- animation next to the percent, then it works on both animations.
- -Miis are default size.
