Yellow con - 1-3 levels higher than the player, good experience
Green Mobs - 16 levels lower than the player, not worth killing for experience
Grey Mobs  - 17+ levels lower, no experience at all.
j5 Mercenary - Journeyman Level 5, the best mercenary you can get.
Fellowship - Think of them groups you hang out with at lunch time in high school.
COTF - Call of the Forsaken, the latest expansion pack
KOS - Kill on Sight

Okay, I figured because the wolves around the Qeynos camp in Ethernere Karana were yellow to me at level 96, that it'd be an easy way to get at least some experience.

I had 53% experience when I logged in. After killing 10 wolves that con yellow to me - knowing they're at best 2 levels higher than I am, and doing Tunguska's quest "Get Feral" ...I'm still at 53%.

I solo (or rather, molo) with a j5 healer, and even suspending the mercenary before going back to Tunguska to complete the task, I didn't get any experience gain.

Is this lack of experience gain intentional? Because given the yellow con to the wolves I should have gotten at least a percent of experience with each kill.

If it's because of the mercenary being up to keep me healed, then I don't find it particularly fair that it nerfs experience gain on yellow mobs to that of green/grey mobs.

There aren't any known issues with experience gain. Here are some of the common things that cause variations in experience gain:

-Being in a Fellowship may cause varying amounts of experience gain
-Be sure that your experience/AA bar is set to the correct value
-Make sure that you are within grouping level range with everyone in your group
-If you're killing things that are indifferent to the highest leveled character in your group, no one will receive AA experience
-Having a mercenary out

If you're unsure whether two character are within grouping level range, you can calculate it using this simple formula: ( (highest character's level) * 2 ) / 3

Example:
( 90 * 2 ) / 3 = 180 / 3 = 60
So a character must be at least level 60 in order to group with a level 90 character.

I do see that your experience has gone up over the last few days and it looks to be working correctly.

If this means that my experience is nerfed simply because I'm in a fellowship then I'm absolutely livid, because I'm the only one on at any given time.

And I get that with the release of COTF that Mercenaries were given the opportunity to gain experience - but I personally fail to see why that has to play such a huge factor in my overall experience gain.

Yeah, I did gain experience lately - running the dailies. I got roughly 10% experience having my mercenary up for Grounds and Old Bloodfields and then keeping it down while I OTK baby oashim for the Valley of Lunanyn task.

Yes, I understand those are hotzones, which means they're double the experience gain.


But I don't see how it's any shade of fair that the mercs eat so much experience.

THESE ARE MOBS THAT ARE TWO LEVELS HIGHER THAN I AM AND CON KOS TO ME IF I AM NOT INVISED.

I AM GETTING NO EXPERIENCE KILLING YELLOW KOS MOBS SIMPLY BECAUSE OF A MERCENARY. THAT IS EXTREMELY UNFAIR.
