- 11:52 AM] Yata!: oh how does Snake approach?
- [11:52 AM] Yata!: Dair isn't the answer there imo
- [11:52 AM] Odds_: snake almost never needs to approach
- [11:53 AM] Odds_: premise of the question is flawed
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: I don't think that's true, either
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: but I think the truth of the matter is in that statement
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: he never needs to be aggressor
- [11:53 AM] Odds_: Then you're either playing against one of the 2 characters with a better ranged game than snake
- [11:53 AM] Odds_: or you're wrong
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: but he needs to close space
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: and he needs to threaten hitboxes
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: without actually using them
- [11:53 AM] Odds_: That sounds accurate though
- [11:53 AM] Yata!: but the most success I've found with Snake is through the counter hit
- [11:54 AM] Yata!: his high weight, large grab range, good OOS options, and solid CC options make that his biggest offensive tool
- [11:54 AM] Odds_: That's a pretty common theme to all the heavy characters
- [11:54 AM] Yata!: not to mention well-placed grenades, mines, c4, and mortars which work more often than not as combo starters rather than chip damage
- [11:55 AM] Yata!: the biggest tool I've been using in neutral is either obscure AGT setups or dashdance -> shield or dashdance -> CC
- [11:55 AM] Yata!: shield if I don't respect their grab combos, CC if I don't respect their grab/combo starters
- [11:56 AM] Yata!: AGT setups including velox drop into SH AGT
- [11:56 AM] Yata!: or AGT oos down, AGT out
- [11:56 AM] Yata!: or SH up lob JC AGT
- [11:56 AM] Yata!: they're all very quick and weird and misleading which I think tricks up the spacing that the nades work at
- [11:57 AM] Yata!: this forces greater respect out of the nades and lets closing space and cutting options off actually happen
- [11:58 AM] Yata!: I actually rarely WD to pick up grenades anymore unless it's a mixup to these setups
- [12:00 PM] Yata!: the ironic bit of all this is that it doesn't work nearly as well if Snake is high percent
- [12:00 PM] Yata!: but there you put pressure on from afar and make them antsy and want the kill so they mess up in that sense
- [12:00 PM] Yata!: more shield grenade traps
- [12:00 PM] Yata!: more Cypher oos conversions
- [12:00 PM] Yata!: more platform camping
