  1. Hi Twitter!
  2.
  3. We've reviewed your email stating we are impersonating @QantasAirways and believe we haven't intentionally or otherwise, acted outside of your Parody Account rules. Please take another look at the bio (it says Non-official) and media coverage of it being a parody account.
  4.
  5. We believe the account to be clear in its parody intent, and it had 'non-official' clearly stated in the bio of the account. Indeed, the account was widely recognised as a parody account by its 2600 followers and the media, with articles written about it being fake:

  11. We have many @replies from users acknowledging it is a parody account and at no time do we believe that we intentionally deceived users that it was an official account. We're sorry if we have accidentally impersonated Qantas or used their freely-available logo, but it was clearly our intention to comply to the Twitter Parody Terms of Service. Upon reviewing your parody policy, we feel that the account is clearly a parody and has not shown intent to deceive anyone around the Qantas brand. Qantas, and their verified accounts, do a good enough job of this, without us and our parody account having to do much, you know?
  12.
  13. We will of course change the bio and name of the account to more clearly state it is an intentionally funny account upon reactivation - we would be disappointed to lose this account that has only been active since November 2011 and had great success in engaging users on a fun and fair level of parody. Indeed, our clearly fake and humorous (if we do say so ourselves) tweet to Mr Warne gleaned more than 1200 retweets. That's a pretty good indication that we are funny, yes?

  16. Noun:
  17. An imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.

  19. Every single tweet we sent out, including that time we told pax they would get 140 frequent flyer points if they brought their own KeepCup, and when we announced that Stephen Fry was heading up our new Dubai office because we were holding him and his wallet ransom, were tweeted for comic effect. And it wasn't just us that laughed. We had many LOLs and even a couple of LMAOs tweeted in return.
  20.
  21. We would like to request to you, oh powerful Twitter, to reinstate the account under your parody policy and we will put 'fake' in its name to show our good faith in not wanting to hurt Qantas' feelings.
  22.
  23. Twitter parody accounts with the PR story-line are an established meme (just look at @BPGlobalPR), and we are certain that not only Qantas customers, but the general volume of Twitterers have the intelligence level required to understand that @QantasPR is merely a fake parody. And as one of our loyal followers said, we are the best parody PR account going. We've totally put that on our CV, but would like to keep going. So, if we can't get this one back, we'll start another one... oh wait, we already have.
  24.
  25. Love, @Qantas_PR
