  1. You upheld the values that you considered to be true, though most people would've called you a paladin you liked to think that you were actually a rogue of sorts, you had no interest in the church except when the two of you coincided on something, the same went for monsters, they had their moments of righteousness but for the most part were creatures that needed to be cleansed of their moral corruptions, whether through teachings or through something less… subtle.
  2.
  3. You had served in various campaigns and had even made a name for yourself in some cities, though you weren't any hero your ability with a sword was good enough to keep you alive, and your armor while not splendorous like the churches paladin’s was quite the getup. It was while travelling through a forest known population of monsters that you heard it, the sound of a woman crying. You could not ignore it even if it were a trap so you set off.
  4.
  5. It seemed that you had walked for nearly an hour when you found it, the creature at this distance could be mistaken for simply a large woman, and in fact that was your first thought, but as you came closer you realized that it could not be, she had to be a full head taller than you at least and her clothing was clearly primitive and her screams were louder than anything you could match, it was clear she had to be some sort of demihuman.
  6.
  7. “come!” she cried to you as you approached her, at first you couldn't tell what was going on because of all the blood, it only became clear that she was pinned to a rock by her legs, and if what you saw was correct it was going to be a hard job to lift it even if there 2 of you.
  8.
  9. “help!” the ogre screamed again and reached out for you, at this point you could easily dispatch her and end it quickly, or you could at least amputate her legs, which would at least free her if not kill her. “lift! Lift rock!” she motioned to the rock and began trying to grab it.
  10.
  11. You weren’t sure if you wanted to risk a monster’s wrath by hacking off her legs and having her come for you later, and killing her was something you couldn’t stomach, at least if she wasn’t trying to kill you as well. You took off your greaves and slowly approached her position, you made sure to make her understand you were trying to help and she allowed you to help her, albeit also trying to grab you at the same time
  12.
  13. “I will lift” you repeated over and over as you approached and she nodded slowly “Lift!” you were going to have to abandon her if she didn’t stop screaming, it was surprise enough that she hadn’t been made a meal out of by some arachne or some other monster, you laid your hands on the rock and pushed, you pushed with all the force you could muster but it wasn’t enough to even dislodge it, at most you had managed to show her how helpless you were.
  14.
  15. “Lift?” she looked at you confused and you nodded back at her, “yes, lift with me” she nodded enthusiastically and joined your efforts, the two of you continued trying for the better half of the hour, and at some time you had managed to lift it by an inch, but the moment you had managed that she screamed in pain and dropped it, giving a wet crunch of bone being smashed once more. You needed to hurry as the sun began to descend and at most you had 4 hours left.
  16.
  17. It was then that you decided to use your spear, it was a basic thing that you saved for cavalry charges and seeing as how you had sold your horse two cities ago it was mostly a situational weapon, but right now it had the potential to work as a great lever, you placed the spear’s head as far as you could underneath the boulder and the ogre obviously had no idea what you were doing.
  18.
  19. “kill… rock?” she muttered while rubbing her chin and you laughed inwardly, it was best if you did this by yourself anyway, seeing as how she would probably faint the moment it was lifted, your tightened your grip and pushed down on it with all your force, the rock immediately began to shift but so did your spear’s shaft, which cracked slowly with the force, you continued anyway and within a few minutes you had managed to lift it by nearly 6 inches “GO!” you screamed shaking from the effort and she immediately answered by rolling away, just in time as the rock collapsed back in placed and the spear broke into two pieces, sending one flying into the air.
  20.
  21. “Thank you!” the ogre cried out and began standing up to hug you only to fall back down and smack her head “t-thank… y-you” she muttered, you could tell she wouldn't last long now, her left leg was alright, mostly bruised and a bit purplish with some sprains, but her right leg looked like it had been passed through a meat grinder, the only thing holding it together was a few pieces of ligaments and the torn muscle, you had to think fast or otherwise she would bleed out where she was resting.
  22.
  23. You sighed to yourself and began sifting through your bag, you had saved up this potion for when your own life was on the line but you weren’t so stingy to let another living creature not have it when they obviously needed it, you finally found it, a pear shaped glass bottle, warm to the touch and filled with a red substance that swished like wine. You opened the cork and were rewarded with a pleasant fizz as well as the smell of apple pies and fresh grass.
  24.
  25. According to the wizard it could be applied directly to the wound or taken orally, it’s effectiveness depended entirely on the wound itself, you decided to go half and half and took out a ripped bit of cloth that you used to tend to your own wounds, wetting it lightly with the poultice before wrapping it to the still bleeding wound, she groaned and began digging her large and clawed hands into the earth as well as clenching her teeth. You followed up by trying to slowly get her to drink it, to your surprise she was more than willing to take it all sucking on it happily like a baby and even trying to stick her tongue inside when it was all gone.
  26.
  27. When she was done she looked at you with a sleepy face “more?” she muttered to you while extending her hand to see if you had any more of the red poultice, you told her to wait and set off for the rock where the shaft of the spear still protruded like a flagpole, you took it and snapped it in half, leaving you with a pole about the length of your forearm, and hopefully the length of her ankle.
  28.
  29. You returned and tried to apply the tourniquet to the best of your abilities, you had seen it done more than enough times on the battlefield to understand the procedure but you had never thought to try it out yourself, you started by straightening the leg which elicited a gasp of pain and her hands on your shoulder crushing you “Stop I’m trying to help” you grabbed her hand and tried to explain, she was however reluctant to even allow you to look at the wound.
  30.
  31. After another half hour was wasted convincing her to allow you to set it in place and apply the tourniquet. the sun was on the edge of the horizon, if you left her here you could make it to the main road in time to avoid being stranded for the night, but if you helped her up you would definitely be left in the thick of the woods, right now you were at the base of a cliff, which offered some mild protection from the wind but opened you up to an ambush. there really was no way to avoid danger unless you were willing to leave her to fend for herself, and that wasn't a good idea in her drunken state from the effects of the poultice.
  32.
  33. You offer her your hand and she takes it gingerly, with some small effort you get her to stand on her working foot, and slowly but surely walk her to the base of the cliff, with her back to it she would at least be able to hide easily or know where an attack was coming from, you give her a cloak that you had in your bag and set it on her, she wraps herself up and practically falls asleep within a minute.
  34.
  35. You set off for the woods, with some luck you could find a few saplings to use as a basic support for some sort of shelter, as well as wild grass that was dry in the summer heat. On both accounts you were right, on your back you carried two young saplings that had easily broken under the weight of your sword, and your pocket was now brimming with dry grass that would serve as a perfect fire starter, the ogre did not stir even an inch from where you left her, she was as still as an angel and the only sign that she was alive was the color in her cheeks that would've drained if she had continued bleeding.
  36.
  37. You set to work hoping to beat the night, the saplings work and you managed to get a sort of tent going on using a thick fabric that you had bought from a fur salesman, the dry grass however was not as useful, seeing as how there was very little wood lying around it simply sparked, leaving you with the memory of warmth, you almost forgot about the ogre until you cracked open a tin of black beans, they were nutritious as well cheap.
  38.
  39. “f-o-o-d” you heard her mutter and try to crawl toward you with sluggish movement “give?” she motioned toward your hand where the tin was, her mouth watering at the sight of what amounted to a feast for her. you noticed she was quite gentle for an ogre.
  40.
  41. by now it was dark and the cold wind was biting you, it would have killed you if not for the cliff on your back, the ogre girl was nearly upon you with her hands outstretched, dragging her tourniquet behind her.
  42.
  43. You swallow as much as you can manage to carry with a few spoonfuls and hand the rest of the tin to her, she looks at you with an expression of complete happiness and swallows it all in one slurp, managing to make as much of a mess as possible, her face is now covered in beans and her smile radiates toward you, even now with her face covered in sauce she looks quite cute.
  44.
  45. you smile back at her with a tired face and give her a thumbs up, she returns the gesture and begins crawling toward you "wait what are you-" is all you manage to say before she throws her arms around you "cold" she mumbles and holds you down, you try to free your dagger but surprisingly she has no interest in anything perverted, she grabs you while shivering slightly.
  46.
  47. you sigh and allow her, in the end it was necessary considering the fire had been a complete failure and even now the sound of the wind continued to pick up, if it got any worse it would begin snowing. During the rest of the night she holds you close while trying to wrap herself in that same cloak you handed her, every once in a while she begins shivering at which point you have to hold her closer, pressing her smooth curves to your body
  48.
  49. by the time the sun comes up you're both in underwear, you try to put clothes on in order to avoid arousing her interest but only get as far as your pants before she wakes up, she looks at you with a new sort of hunger and tries to yank them off before you smack her with the flat of your blade, causing her to growl at you before resigning herself. you clean her wound which has made some progress through the night and pack up, by the time you're done it's nearly noon and the sun is high in the sky.
  50.
  51. you lift her up and she stumbles for a second before managing to get some balance, by now it's probably safe to head toward the road but with your companion you were likely to face some resistance from other travelers.
  52.
  53. “your people, do you know where they are?” you try to make it easier for her to understand with hand signs and she seeming has some sense of understanding what you’re saying, she nods rapidly and takes your hand, making it two steps before falling over and forcing you to reapply the tourniquet
  54.
  55. The two of you set off, slowly at first since every step causes her to wince slightly, eventually however you find a suitable stick for her to use as a cane and the two of you make faster progress, within a few hours of walking you’ve exchanged maybe 20 words and if you could interpret them you’d come to the conclusion that she was 20 years old, and had fallen from the cliff, leading to you finding her trapped under a boulder.
  56.
  57. You travel directly parallel to the main road in order to have a quick escape route in case things turn bad, and given that you’re travelling with an injure ogre that was practically a given. The rest of the day passes uneventfully, you manage to make good progress according to her, and if she is right then the clan should be only about another day’s travel from where you are right now
  58.
  59. You open up a pack of beans and share with her again, only now she ignores the beans and goes directly to cuddling you, tightly holding you to her breasts, night goes by quickly and you set off.
  60.
  61. By the time you see a sign of her clan it’s already late afternoon, she is smiling happily and redoubles her effort to reach her tribe. The day has gone by quickly and her wound has reached a point where she prefers hobbling. it's time to let go so you stop her and try to communicate “Goodbye” you wave to her and try to get her to go but she stays by your side
  62.
  63. “No, I stay, you go, no follow” your attempts at communicating fails as she continues waiting for you with her hand outstretched. Beyond the two of you the smoke of the clan rises slowly and the sound of ogres fill the air.
  64.
  65. "I can't go" you motion for her to keep walking and push her, slowly she begins taking steps but stops and looks at you again with an apologetic look on her face "walk!?" she starts to come back toward you, deep down you know there is no way to stay with her "NO! Keep walking!" you unsheathe your blade and she winces in surprise, taking 3 steps before turning back to you "P-Please follow?" she extends her hand and you almost falter, you almost allow yourself to go with her
  66.
  67. you start to walk back when you're tackled to the ground, her tremendous weight takes the air out of you and it takes you a moment to regain your sense, you stand up, dragging her with you and try again to get her to go home "ogre, you have to go, go back to where you belong" you hug her for a second and she whimpers at you, placing her large hand on your face
  68.
  69. "d-don't worry about me, I'll be alright" you smile and she smiles back, although you see the beginnings of tears in her eyes, you remover her hand from your face and grab it with both of yours, you know what you have to do to get her to go, with all your resolve you scream "GET OUT OF HERE!" she pulls backa nd looks at you hurt "WHY CAN'T YOU SEE I DON'T WANT YOU ANYMORE!!" she stumbles but continues crying "GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!" you turn away and wipe away a tear so that she doesn't see and then turn back toward her "NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!!" she stands back up and almost reaches out for you, you decide to end it all and slap her face with as much strength as possible.
  70.
  71. "J-Just go.." you half cry half sob, she looks at you with rage but that quickly melts into sadness and she slowly hobbles away into the distance while looking at you with a pained expression and sobbing slightly, when she's out of distance you turn away "goodbye, my friend" you whisper while clenching your teeth.
  72.
  73. after some time passes you look in the distance of the village.
  74.
  75. You walk away devastated, you knew you didn't have to be so terrible toward her but it's too late to take it back, you walk away, just to get it away from her memory, that night you don't sleep, you just walk until you collapse on the floor and cry yourself to sleep in the mud, in the morning you pick yourself of from the floor and continue walking, you eat when you realize you haven't had anything solid in two days.
  76.
  77. when you take out the tin of beans you're reminded of her, how she used to love it so much, how she would always cuddle with you after eating and whisper about friendship, you end up crying into the tin and throw it away hoping to dispel her memory. you stand up and repeat last night's ordeal, crying before falling against a tree and collapsing.
  78.
  79. your carelessness finally catches up to you when you wake up, above you a terrible creature hangs, smelling your body with curiosity, when your eyes open that turns into lustful interest, one of her eight spear-like legs lands right next to your shoulder as she comes close to you "meat!" her breath is putrid
  80.
  81. you resign yourself to death or slavery, whatever this terrible creature had in mind, she lifts her large claw and you close your eyes, instead of flesh you hear a scream and when you open your eyes, a green creature is fighting the spider.
  82.
  83. your eyes adjust and you realize it's her, she came back for you "OGRE!" you cry out and she turns to smile at you before returning a punch to the ushi-oni in her head, the battle rages between the two of them until finally your friend manages to snap one of her legs, causing the beast to scream and hobble away
  84.
  85. you approach her quickly and grab her before she falls "but I thought you were over me?!" you hold her up while she gives you a tired smile through her bruised face "it's never ogre" the two of you smirk and walk off together into the sunset, while http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdqoNKCCt7A plays in the background
