  3. I had to watch this twice to make sure I overcame my belief perseverance that this would be shit just based on the title.

  5. This looks boring. I'm just so over this whole type of humor. I also hate that this is going to spawn another terrible argument over what kind of fun is the "objective" best kind of fun, and why certain fun is better than others, and the term "objectively" being thrown around as liberally as literally. I hate that there will be people who say, "Who cares what other people like? What are you, an autist?" or "Anybody who supports this game or any game like it or any game that isn't in my personal top ten list is objectively retarded" or some other extensively hyperbolic and inflammatory statement. This game doesn't seem like it will be a game, in the traditional sense, and I guess I understand, what with the "Expansion of the Genre," and "Games becoming art," and what have you, but this just looks so incredibly pointless. It's infuriating that you can't realistically bag on one of these indie titles without some pretentious asshole being like "You just don't get it. It's cool, it's not for everyone," or some other entirely condescending horseshit, when really, you get it, its just that "it" is a mediocre showing of effort put into something that overall, simply isn't meaningful. This trailer looks like a Youtube video I would have laughed at in my sophomore year of high school, and subsequently forgot. I don't know the mechanics or the depth of this game, and as such the quality of the game cannot be assessed, but man if I don't hate this trailer. This is the exact opposite of the kind of transition that gaming needs to make if it is going to be taken seriously as art. It's lazy, it's ugly, it's not thought provoking, It's bland as can be, it's not innovative, it's not poignant, it just looks like a cheap cash grab that capitalizes on this shitty brand of internet humor surrounding Irony and Poe's law, in such a way that just feels sad.

  7. I don't have a problem with Ironic humor, or even "look at me, i'm so different, isn't that not normal?" kinds of humor, so long as they are clever. This doesn't look at all clever, or nostalgic. People classifying this as art sound like they would be boring as shit to talk to in real life. I dunno, maybe I'm just a humorless dick and this is actually the height of hilarity, but if someone came up to me and started talking about how they really like this game about showering with their dad, I would, of course, ask why, and I'm quite positive most of the answers will not be, "it really hearkens back to the days when I was young, and I showered with my dad in order to save time, so that we could both get where we needed to be on time, and it was really nice to get reminded of that," but rather, "Cause it shows the dads dicks, and the kid sings a parody of power by kanye west, about the showers, and there is horse in the game, and it's so random, like there is a sea monster and other cool dudes you can shower with. It's so epic,".

  9. If it were me, I would make a game called "Me and Dad." Broken into chapters. The first is where you are like 2, and you see your dad for the first time. You learn his smell (a faint aura that you can see on screen where he has been recently if you stop moving) his voice, and a bunch of other parts that are distinctly your dad. Chapter 2, you are 6 years old, and 2 meters appear on screen, Happiness and Approval. You need to get to the bus stop by 7:45. You shower with your dad, and as he washes, he quizzes you on your homework, which you must answer correctly in order to keep you're fathers approval high. Getting approval raises happiness in some cases, and getting happiness raises approval in some cases. You also need to get dressed, and how well you get your clothes to match raises happiness. You can choose to eat breakfast if you've got the time, which will raise approval. Once you get on the bus, it moves on to Chapter 3. I could go further, but I think I made my point. I want there to be games that make me feel things. This game is just a waste of time. Gone Home is decent thing, but the ending pulled the punch, and I couldn't really relate anyway, and although I can respect it's efforts, I don't think it really qualifies as a game. I want games like that, but with game aspects, like player agency and skill, interactivity, and smart, relevant writing. Sorry for the dissertation.

  11. TL;DR: This looks bad and cheap, and I don't like it.
