 Mighty Ducks T-shirts were flying off the racks in Disney stores Monday.

"How could anybody help but love that?" Larry Grey, a tourist from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, said as he held up a shirt with the slightly scowling duck in the Team Mickey store at the Disneyland Hotel. "When the Mighty Ducks come to Calgary (to play the NHL Flames), the fans will go `quack, quack, quack.' "

Disney unveiled its team logo and several items, including T-shirts, jerseys, caps, sweat pants and golf shirts, at a news conference Monday at Anaheim Arena.

Once the Ducks begin playing in October, more merchandise will be added: hockey pucks, sticks, jewelry, pens and pencils, coffee mugs, playing cards, clocks, watches and sports bags.

On Monday afternoon, 33 Disney Stores throughout the United States and two stores each at Disneyland and Disney World in Orlando, Fla., began selling T-shirts.

Within hours of the unveiling, Disney Store director of marketing and promotion Debbie Bohnett pronounced sales an outstanding success.

"It was a feeding frenzy this morning," Bohnett said.

At the Disneyland Hotel, 50 customers succumbed to the novelty of Ducks shirts within an hour after sales clerks stacked them on a display table. Nineteen styles beckoned die-hard hockey fans and Disney collectors.

"We saw the news and thought, `We've got to get some,' " said Philip Martinez, 25, of Downey, said as he and his wife, Gabriela, picked out shirts for themselves.
