In each case, international agencies requested satellite data to coordinate relief efforts. This A & B-Roll explains how the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters, created in 2000 at the initiative of the European Space Agency and its French counterpart CNES, helped for the Haitian earthquake in January this year. It features an interview with Stephen Briggs, Head of Earth Observation Science and Applications at ESA, colleagues at the Charter's operational centre in Italy, and Paul de Fraipont, CEO at France's Regional Service of Image Treatment and Remote Sensing (SERTIT) in Strasburg.\r\n\r\nFor more info on this subject please check the script that is online as a PDF file under : http://television.esa.int/photos/EbS70367.pdf\r\n\r\nA WMV preview clip is online under :\r\nhttp://esatv-movies.e-vision.nl/videos/mplo/satellites_help_TV_03-30-10_wmplow.wmv |

But various market needs eventually encouraged the Europeans to develop its own small launcher, and the Vega project was born. \r\n\r\nThis video recalls the Vega story, an Italian national project that became a European Programme.\r\n\r\nA & B Roll include interviews in english and italian with: \r\nAntonio Fabrizi, ESA Director of Launchers and Stefano Bianchi, ESA Vega Programme Manager. \r\n\r\n |

To such an extent that engineers can now draw inspiration from the works of artists and writers of science fiction. \r\n\r\nThis A & B-roll report illustrates this interaction with an experimental art exhibition by Ken Rinaldo at a museum in Switzerland and a conversation with British science fiction author Alastair Reynolds. Interviews are in English and French.\r\n |

Ariane 5 will be carrying ATV-2, Europe's Automated Transfer Vehicle, its space freighter for the International Space Station. Named after the German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler, the ATV-2 is the first in a series of regular missions, after the inaugural flight of the Jules Verne in 2008.\r\n\r\nThis A & B-Roll details why the Johannes Kepler is 600 kg heavier than the Jules Verne, describes the cargo that it carries and the late cargo access which is being used for the first time. It includes interviews with Nico Dettmann, ATV Program Manager at ESA and his colleague Charlotte Beskow, ATV-2 deputy Mission Manager. Interviews are in English and German.\r\n\r\nA french WMV version of the A-Roll can be viewed on :\r\n\r\nhttp://esatv-movies.e-vision.nl/videos/mplo/cargo_aroll_fr_01-28-11_wmplow.wmv |

Together they will offer governments and international organisations a long-term robust and consistent global data set to help them plan measures to safeguard our future on Earth. \r\n\r\nThis A and B-roll presents the new programme and includes interviews with Mark Doherty, Head of the Applications & Services Division of ESA's Earth Observation Directorate and several leading scientists in the field of climate change. \r\n\r\nInterviews are in English, French, German and Spanish. |

This is the case in at least 70 countries around the world. \r\n\r\nThe Mine Action community attempts to reduce the number of victims and return land to people for agriculture and everyday life.\r\n\r\nEuropean Space Agency is willing to develop new services that meet actual needs in many domains by integrating different satellite applications. \r\n\r\nTo support demining ESA was asked to develop services to improve the efficiency of setting mine action priorities, risk assessment and demining. \r\n\r\nBy complementing existing mine action techniques, with imagery from Earth Observation and Satellite Navigation, resources can be put where they are most needed.\r\n\r\nWhat ESA calls integrated applications combines existing techniques to make a brand-new approach to demining. \r\n\r\nThis video story shows the example of Hadzici, an area near Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. |
