- The player character is a hacker who has managed to infiltrate NeoCorp's brand new neural net simulation, "Ghost in the machine", in a attempt to discover the truth, What is the ghost in the machine?

- Setting - Ganshi Wars
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Ganshi wars was a series of battles set of by the controversial nature of Japan's Brain computer interfacing.
- As European and American nations were threatened by the possibility of falling behind vastly in economic and military strength, they merged into a cohesive super nation by the name of the United Eastern Alliance (UEA)
- The UEA demanded that all Neural Computing research was to be stopped immediately.
- When Japan refused to give into the demands, the UEA declared war.
- The UEA had the advantage during the first half of the conflict, with the vast numbers of UEA troops overrunning the established powers of Japan. However the tide quickly turned when Japan managed to create sentinels.
- As the sentinels continued to wreck destruction towards the invading forces, the UEA, realizing its worst fears; released a brand new super weapon which had been declared a war crime against humanity to use.
- And thus began the Mourning horizon, a grizzly collection of irradiated bombs and chemical weapons dispersed all across Japan.
- After the bombs had all but destroyed Japan, a weak and unstable UEA was disbanded due to civil rebellions about the use of such a device.
- Japan recovered from the destruction caused because of the aid of company NeoCorp who were instrumental in providing economical and health relief to those in need.

- Characters - Akido Nakazuki
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Akido Nakazuki was the father of synthetic enhancements.
- From the young age of 23, Nakazuki was a constant source of innovation in the 21st century.
- Nakazuki was a well known member of the committee for Artificial Robots and Intelligence union.
- Nakazuki's greatest discovery was the development of a process that would allow humans to interface completely with a computer mentally, this process was named the Nakazuki bridge in his honor. It was this discovery which lead to the acceleration of Japan's technology department and their subsequent victory in the Ganshi wars against the United Western Alliance.
- Nakazuki was murdered during the mourning horizon bombings of the Ganshi wars.

- Technology - Sentinel
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Sentinels are cyberneticly enhanced super soldiers developed during the Ganshi wars, a melding of human dna and metal connected by a Nakazuki bridge, the Sentinels managed to destroy and repel any invading forces that were within firing range.
- Sentinels have a high impact dermal armor to prevent damage from high impact collisions and a high end Neurocorp X-80Z neural implant.
