Meeting the Doctor

>Wake up in the middle of the night.
>Damn your stupid sleeplessness, you only get 3 hours of sleep a night.
>Decide to make some coffee, and go for a walk.

>You are hesitant to knock on the door, but decide it might be fun.

>You are greeted by a light brown earth colt with a dark brown mane, an hourglass as a cutie mark.
>’Oh hello Anon. What are you doing up so late?’
‘Umm, I haven’t been sleeping well. I’m sorry, I don’t seem to remember your name.’
>’Oh I’m the Doctor.’

>You are invited in to his house.
>Not a lot of stuff in there.
‘So, what are you doing up at this hour, Doctor?’
>’Oh I…I have bad dreams.’ He looks distraught ‘A lot of lost friends…’
‘I’m sorry. If it helps, I lost many friends when I found myself in P0nyville.’
>’Are you the last of your kind?’
‘I guess. I’m the only human in a world of p0nies.’
>’Don’t you get tired?’
‘Not really. With every friend I lost, I gained many more. And my world is flawed. We fight for no reason, kill for the sake of it. I cannot think of leaving a world of peace for a world of war.’
>The Doctor nods his head.
‘What do you dream about that makes you fear sleep?’
>The Doctor stiffens.
‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to—‘
>’No, it’s fine. It will be good to talk about it. I keep running, always running. I ran from my home, an outcast, and every friend I have always gets hurt. I can’t stop running, and I can’t stop them being hurt.’

>The Doctor seems quite upset.
>You feel bad, you didn’t want to make him sad.
>’Can I ask you something, Mr Anon?’
‘Of course Doctor.’
>’If you had the power to save the world countless times, for people who never know you saved them or that they were in danger; if everytime you save the world you lose a friend, and eventually you will die, would you continue to do it?’
>You think for a moment, considering everything that has been said.
‘Yes, I would do it a thousand times over.’
>The Doctor looks at you with a confused look.
‘If I can save the world and prevent the people who I may or may not know from being hurt, then it’s worth it. The ability to be selfless to others and care without even knowing them is a powerful thing. I could give my life for the people of Equestria a million times over, I would.’
>The Doctor smiled.
>’Anon, you know the mail mare?’
‘Derpy? Yeah, we are good friends.’
>‘Did you ever wonder how she became so…Special?’
>You get up from your seat, and walk towards the door.
‘What are you talking about Doctor? Derpy is just perfect.’
>You give the colt a winning smile.
‘Thank you for the talk Doctor. Sleep well.’
>You leave the Doctor’s house, and head home to watch the sunrise.

>You wake up on your couch to the sound of knocking.
‘God Damn it Fluttershy…’
>You open to find Derpy.
>’Hey Anony, You have a letter.’
‘Thanks Derpy.’
>you look over the envelope
>It’s stamped with an hourglass.
>Open it up to read:
>’Dear Anon. I must thank you for your help last night. I had almost given up hope, but the insight of a human helped me realise my error. You show all the signs of the elements of Harmony, and I am proud to call you my friend. Please keep an eye on Derpy for me. Your companion, Doctor Whooves.’
>That day the Doctor left town
>But he was sure to return
