  1. I woke up, the sunlight filtering through the window. The curtains looked transparent from its bright beams, and as I slowly slipped out of the covers, I stretched with a long yawn. I sat perched on the edge of my bed for a minute, processing my surroundings and what happened the night before. I blinked away the fogginess in my eyes, stood up, got dressed, and headed out the back door.
  2. I wanted something out of the shed, a toy to be more specific. I stared down at the glimmering stone path that led from the back steps and all the way to the front ones. I cut off the path right in the center and walked through the lush, green grass. I remember staring down at my shoes until I heard a distinctive meow - It sounded very similar to the meow my only female cat, Onnie, makes. I heard it twice more before I decided to follow the sound. It lured me right behind the shed, a black tuft of fur laying there with a proud look on her face. I look at her stomach, and suckling at her belly are three healthy kittens. I stare in awe, then bend down on my knees to softly stroke her head. Onnie purred, and bent sideways to give her kittens a gentle lick on the side of the head. Murmuring comforting things to the four cats, I skip back inside to get a basket. My mom looked at me in confusion as I stuffed the basket with soft blankets, and hurried back outside with the handles of the basket in each cuffed hand. Onnie looked up at me, as if to say 'thank you' with a soft, mother-like manner clouding her bright yellow eyes. I pick the squealing kittens up one by one and very carefully, placed them side by side in the basket. I scooped Onnie up and put her right up next to them, their blind eyes desperately trying to find their mother's belly again. I guided them with my hands and held up the heavy basket. I slowly walked to the porch steps and knocked for someone to open the door. It was only moments until my mom came and opened it for me, astonished that our cat had given birth to three beautiful adolescents. She held the door for me as I took the basket inside, and told my mother what happened.
  3. "Oh my, they're beautiful! Especially that grey one." Her eyes were fixed on the ashen tuft of fur, we both thought that he was the most special out of them all.
  4. Three months passed and we gave two of the kittens away, but we kept the grey one. After three years, Onnie and Joey are still with us. Joey is going on almost three-four years, Onnie almost reaching 13. The other kittens found good forever homes, and we're very happy that we kept Joey. He's special in every way and we couldn't love him any more.
