  1. >She looks up at me
  2. "We all have to have bad days once and a while"
  3. >"But this has been my life for years! I am poor and hungry and no home!"
  4. >I look at her, she is crying
  5. >"And this "job" i have is the only thing i can do to survive"
  6. >i look at the tree close to her
  7. "Say that is a happy little tree there"
  8. >She looks out and sees it
  9. >"More happy than i will ever be"
  10. "No that isnt true, you can be happy. Come here."
  11. >I grab my bag i had and bring out some brushes and a easel with a canvas
  12. >"Painting? But im not good at painting"
  13. >I look over to her and smile
  14. "I will teach you, there is a small easel and canvas in that bag, we can share the paints"
  15. >She sets it up and prepares to listen
  16. >I begin to speak
  17. "Now the first thing we need to do is have a basic outline"
  18. >She starts to paint along with me
  19. >"Does it look good?
  20. >I look at her canvas and see a decent outline
  21. "Thats good, now we will fill in the basic colors"
  22. >We start and halfway through it she says
  23. >"Aw great, i mixed the green and brown together"
  24. >I look at it and see the mixed colors
  25. "Its ok, we dont make mistakes in painting, we only make happy accidents"
  26. >She turns back and mumbles somthing "My life has been a happy accident if you say it that way"
  27. >I hear it but i ignore that statement
  28. "You can cover up the brown with green later"
  29. >I go out and help her paint with each and every step
  30. >A hour later we finish
  31. >She looks at her tree and then at mine
  32. "I will never be as good as you..."
  33. >She slumps down and looks sad
  34. "Hey, its ok. I was horrible at this when i first started"
  35. >"I hardley believe that"
  36. >I go silent and sit by her
  37. "Do you want to talk while the paint is drying?"
  38. >She looks at me and says "Well i have nothing else to do"
  39. >"So how did you get to be so good at painting"
  40. "I was in the Air Force, sort of like your wonderbolts, but in big fast planes"
  41. >She was confused
  42. >"You learned to paint there?"
  43. "Well no, it was my inspiration. I looked at mountians and meadows and trees all the time"
  44. >"Really? Mountians? I always wanted to see a mountian"
  45. "Maybe you can paint one too"
  46. >She smiles. "I can?"
  47. >I smile back
  48. "Maybe someday, if its there, you can do it"
  49. >A loud stomping went up to us
  50. >"Hey you slut! You were supposed to be here this afternoon, not with this pink skinned freak!"
  51. >WAT
  52. >A hoof landed on the hazel pony's stomach
  53. >"OWW! Ple-please, stop! HELP!"
  54. >I get up to grab him but he punches me knocking the wind out of me
  55. >Then a strange anger rose in me...
  56. >Oh no not again
  57. >I charge at him
  58. >He turns twords me and he tries to react
  59. >too late
  60. >A bone shattering punch knocks him to the ground shocked
  61. >I grab his head and made him look at me
  62. >"YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER YOU INSENSITIVE JACKASS!"
  63. >My voice must have reached the ends of this earth because everyone is silent and looks at me
  64. >The big pony starts sobbing and runs off
  65. >I get on my knees and start crying
  66. >The hazal pony runs up to me and asks if i am ok
  67. "You know somthing...i promised my wife that i would never yell again...i guess some promises can be broken"
  68. >She hugs me and says "Its just a happy accident"
  69. >I hug her back and cry
  70. >Our paintings finish drying and she asks me
  71. >"Will you paint with me again
  72. "Of course"
  73. >I go to that same spot every week and paint with her
  74. >She gets better and better overtime and she is almost at par with my skills
  75. >One day however i decide to buy tickets to go to the mountians
  76. >When we paint a yellow pony's house on the edge of the woods she looks at our paintings
  77. "Wow...i havent seen paintings like these before"
  78. >Hazel looks at her and thanks her
  79. >the yellow pony pulls out a bag of bits
  80. >"Here, you did a good job"
  81. >She brings both paintings in
  82. "Wow...she gave me a bunch! I can get a apartment!"
  83. >I go silent
  84. >"Is everything all right?"
  85. "You wanted to see a mountian right?"
  86. >I pull out the tickets
  87. >She is in shock
  88. >"For...both of us? You didnt have too"
  89. "I have too, it was your dream. I wanted it to come true"
  90. >In shock she hugs me and starts crying happy tears
  91. >The yellow pony in the door sheds a tear and shuts the door
  92. >2 weeks later we head up to the mountians
  93. >It was cold but it was worth it.
  94. >I saw her happy in painting every side of the mountian, every drop of water, every bit of detail
  95. >after 3 hours she shows me the painting. It was magnificent
  96. "Wow...thats beyond my skill"
  97. >"Really?!"
  98. >It was, i cant believe she has gotten this far
  99. >We return to town
  100. >Somepony sees her painting and asks to buy it
  101. >Its a pony with a camera, and a snazzy dress
  102. >"IT WOULD LOOK BEAUTIFUL AS A INSPIRATION!" She booms
  103. >"Oh..ok. But how mu-" Hazal was cut off with a big bag of bits landed on her table
  104. >It was around 2000 i dont doubt
  105. >"THANK YOU PAINTER!" the blue pony yelled as she ran with the painting
  106. >Hazel was happy as she could be
  107. >Word got around town and that painting was famous
  108. >2 years later
  109. >Hazel is a magnificent painter and today is her first live demonstration
  110. >"Im nervous...what if they don't like me?
  111. "If they didn't like you they wouldn't have you come here today"
  112. >"Th..thats true"
  113. "Go out there and make some smiles!"
  114. >She goes out on stage and i sit in the audience
  115. >"I am Hazel and i welcome you all today.."
  116. >She begins painting
  117. >It was a slow start and i didnt know what she was painting
  118. >Hours pass and i see the painting finished in front of the crowd
  119. >It was a tree grown through a box with a gardener with big hair tending it
  120. >People loved it but were confused
  121. >"This painting is based on trials i had in the past. But i was helped and now am where i am now"
  122. >Ponies loved it and someone was yelling "500 bits!" "800 bits!"
  123. >Bidding started
  124. >Noise erupted until a loud stomp came in the room
  125. >It was that pony that punched her
  126. >"8,500 BITS" he yelled
  127. >Everyone went silent
  128. >he smiled and went to get the painting and handed her the bits
  129. >"Im sorry"
  130. >He walks off stage and leaves the room
  131.
  132. >Later i see Hazel on a park bench
  133. >She is sad
  134. >"Why did he come back?"
  135. >I was confused
  136. "To apoligize of course"
  137. >"No one has done that to me since that day"
  138. "Well things change dont they? You have to have a bit of darkness to lighten things. Just like painting"
  139. >"But what if someone hurts me again?"
  140. >I question that to myself
  141. "They wont Hazel"
  142. >"Why?"
  143. >Butterflies form in my stomach
  144. >I kiss her on the cheek
  145. "Because you have grown to not be a twig...but a happy tree"
  146. "A happy tree that will give light to others"
  147. >"Just like you have given me?"
  148. >I lean in to kiss her again
  149. "Yes, and the old twigs around us will become happy trees with you"
  150.
  151. The end
