  1. Now I'm offical Romero's bitch and all I can say - Daikatana is a game.
  2. Bad for the most part, though.
  3. I played with patch to make it more stable - it still was crushing and corrupting saves.
  4. I played with patch to make A"I" companions immortal and less stupid (presumably) - it was still a chore to make them behave.
  5. I played with patch to not use save gems - well, that one might've been excessive, since after Episode 1 game was a cakewalk.

  7. Infamous for being one of worst hyped up games from John Romero himself, Daikatana wasn't exactly as bad as I was dreading it to be. With 4 episodes having its own weapons and mechanics some of it felt underdeveloped even with how long this game took to release.
  8. Episode 1 is horrible and I can't blame anyone who haven't gotten past it. It is on par criminal to start a game like that. It is also the hardest episode of a game, since later you will be barely taking any damage (aside from maybe E4 ending).
  9. Episode 2 is the best and also has the most memorable soundtrack of the entire game. Having it right there probably saved the game for me, because...
  10. Episode 3 was painfully mediocre. Full of switch puzzles and annoying companion babysitting. Most boring weapons aswell out of bunch (atleast for me).
  11. Episode 4 was all around the place, but was atleast backed by decent weapons and the fact that you are pretty high level by then.

  13. Story was a mess. Funny at times. But mostly it was just exposition dumps for minutes with horrible camera zooms/pans all over the dialog that has no sense or meaning.
  14. Music was generic as hell, as I said the only themes I remember are from E2, cause those were pretty different.
  15. Controls are fine for a most part. Your character feels just slightly off compared to quake or unreal, often I would expect to make a sharper jump than I would end up to, but hopping around was fun, when it was possible.
  16. Katana is a weird weapon that has awful feedback on hit and throws in random animations. Also blocks your leveling, so while it becomes stronger, you aren't really progressing yourself, and you really aren't gonna be using it later in a game, against hitscan enemies. So it is kinda there for e2 and e3, but if you don't level it, then it is weaker than claws in e3, which are extremely powerful melee.

  18. Well anyway, I had my fun with this game and I can definetely recommend it to other people who like FPS. Not because it is good. But because it has some good ideas mixed with bunch of bad ideas or bugs. Memorable in its own special way.
