  10. The topic is the main subject of the paragraph.
  11. The controlling idea is what the paragraph will say about the topic.

  14. English is constantly adding new words.
  15. - I expect to see examples of new English words from a variety of sources.
  16. English borrows words from other languages.
  17. - I expect to see words borrowed from many other languages.
