  34. Cedar was born to a logger father, Pinewood, and a paladin mother, White Oak in a town on the edge of a forest. He has one sibling, his sister Mahogany who is older by a year. His mom died shortly after his birth leaving his dad to take care of both kids. Pinewood worked long hours for his family leaving the two to spend most of their time looking out for each other. As the two grew up, Mahogany was stricken with mysterious illness that took her sight along with her health. Both Cedar and his dad dedicated their time to taking care of Mahogany, his sister and closest friend.
  35.
  36. Aided by the shield inherited from his mom (his sister inherited her sword) he swore service as a clergypony to possibly find an answer to his sister's plight. Once ordained, the reality came crashing down for the small family of three, Mahogany was going to die. No amount of holy magic could end this unknown disease.
  37.
  38. One day while reading to the bedridden mare about magical plants, they came across one entry of a fragrant flower that when smelled causes the brain to relive every happy memory. Amazed, Mahogany wished to smell such a plant to experience her joyous fillyhood with her brother one last time. Cedar Oak smiled an unseen smile and promised her that he'd give her the chance, leaving out the fact that it's been extinct for two centuries.
  39.
  40. The prophet at the temple he serves in had strange visions of portals to worlds beyond, not too dissimilar from their own. Cedar is determined to find the plant completing her last rite before she passes and rejoins White Oak in the afterlife.
