- (04:42) <mod6> what do you think this part is that burned? http://imgur.com/a/hyA3a#XAlCz3B
- (04:42) <mod6> resistor?
- (04:43) intranick look
- (04:43) <mod6> are those capasitors?
- (04:44) <intranick> its a cap
- (04:44) <mod6> there are several pics
- (04:44) <mod6> ok
- (04:44) <intranick> just like the one next to it
- (04:44) <intranick> easily replaced if you can figure out what value it was
- (04:44) <intranick> i probably have one of the same value, a lot bigger tho.. thats SMT shit
- (04:44) <intranick> but my shits ok for bodge repair
- (04:45) <mod6> bodge?
- (04:45) <intranick> if it fries like htat
- (04:45) <intranick> its bodged
- (04:45) <mod6> oh ok
- (04:45) <intranick> see the group of four caps next to it, to its left?
- (04:45) <mod6> ya
- (04:45) <intranick> if the other 3 are the same , its likely the one fried is the same
- (04:46) <mod6> ya, most of us only have seen round caps before
- (04:46) <intranick> people like to copy+paste
- (04:46) <intranick> much more easily identified with http://www.amazon.com/Carson-Optical-Lumiloupe-Power-Magnifier/dp/B000CAHCQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381146394&sr=8-1&keywords=loop
- (04:46) <intranick> incase im wrong and its just a funky resistor (most of those "tan" things are capacitors)
- (04:47) <intranick> that loop right there will show the text easily on the "non burnt" ones
- (04:47) <mod6> you think thats what happened here too? http://i.imgur.com/2UZuUzH.jpg
- (04:48) <intranick> likely yes
- (04:48) <intranick> id say from what ive see
- (04:48) <intranick> seen*
- (04:48) <intranick> caps are way more likely to go than any other component
- (04:48) <intranick> but these are probably ceramic caps, which i havent seen go that much
- (04:48) <intranick> but you're talking some weird ass hardware
- (04:49) <intranick> not developed and tested by the people in silicon valley who have the budget to waste 10,000 of them to make them rock solid
- (04:49) <intranick> not that it makes it worse, just not taken through the same steps
- (04:50) <intranick> so likelyhood of that on an ATI graphics card -- you have to seriously overclock and push it.. that on an ASIC miner -- probably fairly likely
- (04:51) <mod6> can i paste this to another chan?
- (04:52) <intranick> only if you mention that i'm a hobbyist not an expert and my text should only be under my oppinion not taken as fact
- (04:52) <mod6> i'll add that last part.
