  16. 12 - purpose - D - There is only brief mention of the functions of each hemisphere, and studying the brain is important as a way to show that people a long time ago were probably right-handed.
  17. 16 - fact - A - The paragraph is about many different developments, but the first sentence says that the shift from silent to sound is the most important.
  18. 17 - vocabulary - D - It may not be clear from the context of this paragraph, but “paradox” simply means “contradiction” in most cases. (The last sentence of the previous paragraph calls these films “mute” even though there were a wide variety of sounds added to their performance.)
  19. 21 - negative fact - A - It was the high cost of sound technology that made the other development slower.
