I missed this as well. I think many missed it.
Timing is everything. Had they started this campaign closer to the holiday season I think they would have brought even more people and perhaps even smashed that goal.

Some other thoughts I had were that they left out a very important market. The mavericks.

The new technologies they were going to offer in the edge device was very nice but sometimes new is not everything.

They left out technologies like a barometric pressure sensor that can do much more than just predict the weather. It can also be used to aid the GPS and location services of the device, as well as many other tasks.

The same could be said for IRDA. (FULL tx and rx IRDA).

Finally people want removable.

Removable storage.
Removable battery.
Removable addin accessories.

The new battery technology they were suggesting to use was a great idea but it also needed to be removable.

I hope ubuntu takes note of these ideas the next time around.
