- [19:24]Draahzin: hey how is going the change to class? Showed it to aude?
- [19:26]Rodney Rodrico: I took a break because I started working again, and a friend bought me a new video game that we've been playing together.
- [19:27]Rodney Rodrico: I was about to do more editing, today. I've told Aude about my idea's, but haven't shown her anything, yet.
- [19:29]Finn Ayers disconnected.
- [19:29]Draahzin: Mhm, be warned she dislikes if you change DW things
- [19:30]Draahzin: She got mad at me when I told her to remove tags that are just lore/fluff and put those in the name to avoid confusion and help new gms (ie "a rusty dagger(weight 1,precise)" vs (a dagger(weight 1, precise, rusty)")
- [19:32]Rodney Rodrico: Fluff and lore need to be there, but having access to the DW rule-set / books would help. I can see why the names are there, but I'm a mechanics focused kind of guy.
- [19:33]Finn Ayers connected.
- [19:33]Draahzin: Yeah but the problem is that the first one is a trillion times better, this is a simple fact, because it gets the point across (it's a dagger, that's rusty) and the second one doesn't (it's a dagger that has mixed on the mechanical side mechanically defined tags such as weight and using dex to attack, and a non-mechanical tag)
- [19:33]Furlong disconnected.
- [19:33]Butch Grasso connected.
- [19:34]Draahzin: Why mix mechanical things and fluff things is beyond me.
- [19:35]Rodney Rodrico: I can see why a rusty dagger and a dagger with the 'rusty' quality could get mixed up. Both are precise and weight the same, but the quality should be on the item described as 'rusty'.
- [19:35]Draahzin: Except it shouldn't since rusty has no strict rules
- [19:36]Draahzin: Hence it has no place being on the strictly rules side.
- [19:37]Hachiro Kenichi is now Busy.
- [19:41]Rodney Rodrico: Yeah, I can see how that example could be confusing. Is that on an actual character?
- [19:41]Draahzin: look at the monsters
- [19:41]Draahzin: For example the messy tag
- [19:41]Crown Prince Alin connected.
- [19:42]Draahzin: Monstrous teeth (TAGS: messy, mechanical, mechanical)
- [19:42]Draahzin: Or venom or flaming
- [19:42]Draahzin: which sound crunchy as fuck but no reference of frame on fairness
- [19:42]Draahzin: It's mostly a change for DMs
- [19:43]Rodney Rodrico: Or what they do rules wise, exactly. Yeah, I can understand that.
- [19:43]Draahzin: Exactly
- [19:44]Draahzin: But aparently nobody else does so aude told me to fuck off, DW did it so it's sacred
- [19:44]Tephra connected.
- [19:44]Rodney Rodrico: Well, I'm not sure what to tell you. DW is very story driven, so I don't know how it's mechanics work without a rule book in front of me.
- [19:45]Draahzin: the problem is mixing the crunch and the mechanics which make DM'ing harder
- [19:45]Rodney Rodrico: The mechanic tags could just be there for flavor, or they may have actual rules attached. I don't know. I do know a few mechanics, like clumsy weapons get dropped on bad rolls, and awkward armor gets in the way.
- [19:46]Rodney Rodrico: Tags
- 'Hand' is a weapon with the range of a dagger. 'Close' is a weapon with the range of a sword. 'Reach' is a weapon with the range of a polearm or spear. 'Near' is the ranged of a shortbow. 'Far' is the range of a longbow.
- Weapons with the Precise tag make you hack and slash with DEX. Weapons with the Strong tag make you volley with STR.
- 'Clumsy' items give you -1 ongoing while you wear them.
- 'Dangerous' items are more likely to backfire and harm you.
- 'Awkward' items are more likely to drop or miss.
- '+1 damage' means the damage you deal is increased by 1. '+1 armor' means your armor is increased by 1.
- The rest of the tags are subject to the players and GM's interpretation. If in doubt, the GM has the final say.
- [19:46]Draahzin: That's the problem, why do you mix fluff things and crunch things
- [19:46]Draahzin: it's moronic
- [19:46]Draahzin: and makes DM'ing obtuse and harder than it has to be, just add it to the name if I have to interpret it
- [19:46]Petal The Snivy connected.
- [19:46]Draahzin: Because the mechanical things have huge effects (clumsy, strong/precise, etc...)
- [19:47]Rodney Rodrico: This is actually a very simple system, compared to D&D / Pathfinder.
- [19:47]Petal The Snivy is now Looking. [Diapers, diapers, and more diapers. O3O Maybe expiramenting a new serperior form.]
- [19:48]Draahzin: Fuck no.
- [19:48]Draahzin: This system is more obstuse and harder to DM on the fly than Anima or GURPS
- [19:49]Draahzin: Both of which are a trillion times rules heavier than D&D and pathfinder. But hey maintain coherence.
- [19:49]Rodney Rodrico: Do you actually have the DW manuals / core rules in front of you?
- [19:50]Draahzin: I don't see how that is relevant, the profiles should have all information.
- [19:50]Draahzin: And even after reading them it's obtuse and retarded as all fuck
- [19:50]CodyBoy is now Looking. [Kinky boy on the prowl]
- [19:50]Rodney Rodrico: ... Draahzin, Aude isn't going to copy / paste every little detail from the rule set onto the profiles.
- [19:51]Draahzin: So, to play this game I need
- [19:51]Draahzin: 1. to download all DW rules
- [19:51]Draahzin: 2. To make up shit on the fly ASAP
- [19:51]Draahzin: 3. To learn the new LW rules
- [19:51]Draahzin: But
- [19:51]Draahzin: it's "simple"
- [19:51]Draahzin: here is how I DM GURPS
- [19:51]Draahzin: 1. I get the core manual
- 2. I get splats
- 3. I now proceed to DM.
- [19:52]Draahzin: No need to discuss this if you don't grasp why fluff and crunch need to be split.
- [19:52]Rodney Rodrico: The game that Aude is trying to make is using four different types of supplimental manuals. Each edited from 3rd parties, aside from DW
- [19:53]Rodney Rodrico: I understand why they need to be split. What I don't understand is why you are bitching about something that is obviously cobbled together and patch-work as a homebrew system.
- [19:53]Rodney Rodrico: If you want the core mechanics, go look them up.
- [19:53]Rodney Rodrico: Aude may not have remembered to put everything here.
- [19:53]Draahzin: Because I hate shitty works.
- [19:53]Draahzin: But I can simply avoid the worst part by never DM'ing
- [19:53]Draahzin: Which I will NEVER do.
- [19:53]Angel Syns disconnected.
- [19:53]Draahzin: Ever.
- [19:54]Draahzin: For this joke of a system developed by self centered morons who think DW is perfect and never are willing to understand anything if it interjects with DW
- [19:54]Draahzin: End of the discussion.
