  3. Name: Konchu (クンチュウ)
  4. Title: Shield Bug (盾虫)
  5. Average Length: 295cm
  6. Average Height: 69cm
  7.
  8. Order: Coleoptera (甲虫目)
  9. Suborder: Shield Bug (盾虫亜目)
  10. Family: Konchu (クンチュウ科)
  11.
  12. Habitats: Variety of Locales in 4th Gen
  13.
  14. Konchu are a small species of Neopteron that are heavily armored in nature. These monsters are known to sport a thick shell on their back that protects them from most attacks, including repelling the attacks of hunters. Their shell is as hard as some of the toughest minerals.
  15.
  16. When they feel threatened, they'll roll up into a tight little ball and may roll towards their enemy. Although these monsters aren't much of a threat, some hunters have had bad experiences on hunts due to one of them coming out of nowhere. All hunters, both novices and experts alike, have had at least one bad quest due to a Konchu. Although their back is heavily armored, their underbelly is vulnerable to attacks, and hunters can easily slice through the soft underside of a Konchu if they can flip it over.
  17.
  18. A Konchu may be weak alone, but they're strong as a swarm. When in large groups, Konchu are known to gather together to attack threats and prey alike. These monsters are scavengers that feed on the remains of prey left behind by larger monsters as well as humus, though some Konchu are known to attach themselves to said large monsters. Due to uneaten leftovers that remain on the large monster's body, the Konchu are drawn to the scent and will hitch onto the monster to feed on the remaining leftovers, inadvertently providing extra protection for the large monster they've attached themselves to.
  19.
  20. The main predators of the Konchu are Yian Kut-Ku and Yian Garuga. Despite being weak monsters, Konchu appear in a wide range of habitats and are considered to be quite adaptable due to them being found living in just about any environment. It's also said that they breed rapidly as well, and their appearance varies depending on their habitat.

  36. Name: Moofah (ムーファ)
  37. Title: Cloud Sheep Deer (雲羊鹿)
  38. Average Length: 251.95cm
  39.
  40. Order: Artiodactyla (偶蹄目)
  41. Family: Moofah (ムーファ科)
  42.
  43. Habitats: Bherna, Deserted Island
  44.
  45. A species of herbivore that has been used by humans for a long time, Moofah are alpaca-like monsters that can be found throughout Bherna. In that village, Moofah have been used as the main source of income and other human needs in Bherna since ancient times. The villagers use the Moofah to transport and trade goods between other settlements and sell various products that come from the Moofah. Moofah fur is perfect for crafting clothing, and their cheese and milk sells highly in the market.
  46.
  47. Some people, including hunters, keep young Moofah as pets. Some say it's therapeutic to keep one around, especially when you're having a tough time as a hunter.
  48.
  49. While domesticated Moofah can be found living throughout Bherna, but populations of wild Moofah can be found living in the Deserted Island. Unlike the domesticated ones, these wild Moofah have shaggy fur and overgrown horns due to them living in the wild. Moofah have two pairs of horns on their head, which vary in shape size depending on the gender, while their fur keeps them warm in cold places. Since wild Moofah have so much extra fur on their body, hunters can actually shear some of the fur off their body without harming them. While domesticated Moofah are relatively harmless, wild Moofah will become aggressive once provoked or attacked by a creature.

  68. Superfamily: Neck Cry Wyvern (首鳴竜上科)
  69. Family: Larinoth (リモセトス科)
  70.
  71. Habitat: Jurassic Frontier
  72.
  73. The largest known monster in the herbivore class, Larinoth are gentle giants that are native to the secluded Jurassic Frontier. Primarily feeding on grass on the ground and ancient berries in the treetops, as well as water lilies in the waterways in their environment, these monsters are relatively docile in nature, like most other herbivores, only attacking if they feel threatened.
  74.
  75. Larinoth is nicknamed the "Neck Cry Wyvern" from a unique sound it produces from resonating organs found throughout its body (Head, neck, and tail). It uses these organs to produce a strange call that it uses to communicate with members of its kind and to warn them of danger. If a member of its herd is attacked, it and other Larinoth may attack the threat. Larinoth have even been seen taking on large predatory monsters, though are known to be preyed upon by Glavenus.

  88. Name: Seltas (アルセルタス)
  89. Title: Piercing Beetle (徹甲虫)
  90. Average Length: 615.9cm (Excluding claws)
  91. Average Height: 292.2cm
  92.
  93. Order: Coleoptera
  94. Suborder: Adephaga
  95. Family: Seltas
  96.
  97. Habitats: A. Steppe, Everwood, Primal Forest, J. Frontier, Jungle, H. Mount, Sunken Hollow
  98.
  99. Seltas is a medium-sized Neopteron found primarily in forest regions and the male counterpart of Seltas Queen. Known as the "Piercing Beetle" by the Guild, Seltas is well-known for his outstanding speed in the sky.
  100.
  101. Nearly about the same size as a bird wyvern or flying wyvern, Seltas has large fluid-filled wings on his back that allows him to fly at high speeds compared to most other flying monsters. He usually draws in his wings when he feels threatened. To further aid in his flying abilities, Seltas has evolved a lightweight exoskeleton that reduces air resistance as he flies, preventing the monster's speed from decreasing easily as he takes off.
  102.
  103. Seltas has a long, armored canopy on his back that he uses to pierce through prey as he flies forward. Used to ram and skewer prey at high speeds, he is capable of piercing through rock with this sharp horn, especially when flying at full force towards his victims. The sharp canopy on Seltas's back isn't the only weapon that he has. Seltas also has sharp claws that it uses to rip into prey as well as a stinger at the end of his abdomen. Inside of his abdomen is a specialized organ that produces a corrosive liquid that he can fire out of his stinger, and Seltas is known to sometimes pin down prey and continuously sting the unfortunate victim with his stinger.
  104.
  105. When grabbed by a Seltas Queen and injected with her pheromones, some of Seltas's behavior and abilities are altered. While under a Seltas Queen's influence, the corrosive liquid he fires from his stinger will lose its acidic nature and will instead reduce the stamina of prey. If that wasn't enough, her pheromones also allow Seltas to dramatically increase the length of his claws. Although smaller than Seltas Queen, Seltas is strong enough to carry her up in the air and becomes a deadly weapon that she fully uses in combat.
  106.
  107. Like insects in our world, Seltas is considered to be a delicacy in some cultures.

  122. Name: Seltas Queen (ゲネル・セルタス)
  123. Title: Heavy Beetle (重甲虫)
  124. Average Length: 1444.8cm (Excluding claws)
  125. Average Height: 992.6cm
  126.
  127. Order: Coleoptera
  128. Suborder: Adephaga
  129. Family: Seltas
  130.
  131. Habitats: A. Steppe, Everwood, Primal Forest, J. Frontier, Jungle, H. Mount
  132.
  133. The female counterpart of Seltas, Seltas Queen is an enormous insect-like monster that is often considered to be one of the largest known species of neopteron. While Seltas is a lightweight, Seltas Queen is a heavyweight. Unlike her male counterpart, Seltas Queen lacks wings and primarily walks on land with her tremendous legs. It is said that the ground will shake from the sheer weight of her movements whenever she walks. Seltas Queen can easily be seen as a walking armored tank.
  134.
  135. Just like Seltas, she too has claws, but Seltas Queen doesn't use them for attacking. Rather than using them as a weapon, her claws are used for movement, tunneling through the ground, and for protecting her vulnerable mandibles. Although her mandibles are vulnerable to attacks, she's capable of expelling watery mucus globs from them for defense against threats. They also open laterally to chew through prey with ease.
  136.
  137. Seltas Queen's iridescent exoskeleton is bigger, thicker, and stronger than a Seltas's exoskeleton, providing her with better protection against threats. Her exoskeleton is often used to craft impressive decorations for armor sets. The shell from her pectus is hard yet hollow on the inside and light. Nearby gas holes on that part have given it an odd aroma, and its non-slip surface exists so that a Seltas can easily mount Seltas Queen. From these gas holes, Seltas Queen is capable of releasing smelly pheromones that'll attract nearby Seltas. The moment a Seltas catches a whiff of these pheromones, he'll immediately fly in the direction of the Seltas Queen.
  138.
  139. Seltas Queen has a long tail ending in two massive shear-like pincers that she primarily uses as a defense against predators. Not only is her tail a defensive tool, but it's also a tool specially designed for her mate, Seltas. The females (Seltas Queen) are the dominant ones of the Seltas species, and the males are merely soldiers that under the control of the female Seltas via their powerful pheromones. With these pheromones, the Seltas Queen fully manipulates Seltas like a puppet.
  140.
  141. Inside of a Seltas Queen's tail is specialized organs that produce the pheromones that she releases to attract nearby Seltas. When the male is within range, the Seltas Queen will quickly grab him with her tail and inject a pheromone-like substance inside of him, causing him to cease struggling. Once injected with the substance, Seltas falls under her complete control and will do whatever she wants. Seltas Queen is more than capable of protecting herself, though she takes full advantage of a Seltas once she draws in and captures one. While together, Seltas and Seltas Queen make up for each other's shortcomings, creating a deadly duo that works together well with each other.
  142.
  143. Although the two make a great team, the biggest threat to this team is Seltas Queen herself. Seltas Queen is a cannibalistic predator, and the biggest threat to a male Seltas's life is a female Seltas. If in battle and or in dire need of sustenance, a Seltas Queen will not hesitate in violently killing and then eating her male counterpart to survive. The most interesting part about Seltas Queen is that the gender of her young is dependent on how well-nourished she is. If Seltas Queen is malnourished, her young will be male (Seltas), however, her young will be female (Seltas Queen) if her she is well-nourished. A concentrated fluid circulates throughout Seltas Queen's body, and acidifies when it touches the outside air.

  162. Title: Axe Beetle (斧甲虫)
  163. Average Length: 613.5cm (Excluding claws)
  164. Average Height: 304.8cm
  165.
  166. Order: Coleoptera
  167. Suborder: Adephaga
  168. Family: Seltas
  169.
  170. Habitats: A. Steppe, Everwood, Dunes, Sunken Hollow
  171.
  172. A subspecies of Seltas normally found in arid deserts, the Desert Seltas is the male counterpart of Desert Seltas Queen and shares many of the same adaptations as the normal Seltas. Although Seltas and the Desert Seltas are similar in many ways, there are some differences. While Seltas has a single-horned canopy, Desert Seltas has a dual-horned canopy that resembles an axe, giving him the title "Axe Beetle." The inner edges of his canopy are very sharp and more than capable of piercing through rock.
  173.
  174. Like his cousin, Desert Seltas is known to ram prey with these horns, but he has another use for them. Unlike Seltas, Desert Seltas is capable of using his horns to dig underground, where he spends most of his time. While Seltas prefers to charge at prey, Desert Seltas prefers to ambush prey. A Desert Seltas will wait underground for prey before jumping out of the ground and attacking the victim. Once the creature is in his grasp, Desert Seltas will drag his victim back underground unseen. Some hunters fear that Desert Seltas may drag them underground if they aren't wary about their surroundings during hunts. Instead of an organ that produces corrosive liquid, Desert Seltas has one that produces a paralyzing venom that can be found throughout his entire body.
  175.
  176. Although his shell is light like Seltas's, bodily secretions give his shell additional surface strength. Desert Seltas is about as weak as a normal Seltas, but it was placed into G-rank since not much is known about this particular subspecies. Desert Seltas have been appearing more frequently in recent years, though many individuals die due to a Desert Seltas Queen using most of them as ammo.

  192. Average Height: 516cm
  193.
  194. Order: Coleoptera
  195. Suborder: Adephaga
  196. Family: Seltas
  197.
  198. Habitats: Dunes, Everwood
  199.
  200. The desert subspecies of Seltas Queen, Desert Seltas Queen is the female counterpart of Desert Seltas Queen and shares many of the same adaptations as the normal Seltas Queen. Although Seltas Queen and the Desert Seltas Queen are similar in many ways, there are some differences. To fit with the environment of the Dunes, the Desert Seltas Queen has evolved a thick shell with colors that look very much like the sand of the desert. This thick shell is most evolved in her claws, providing her head with extra protection against attacks.
  201.
  202. Like her cousin, Desert Seltas Queen has a long tail ending in two massive shear-like pincers, but these pincers are longer compared to her cousin's due to her mate, Desert Seltas, primarily living underground in the sand. Due to living in a different environment, she has evolved longer pincers to help her pull slumbering Desert Seltas out of the sand with ease and to grab far away prey. Small hairs on her body allow her to detect the exact location of Desert Seltas, as well as prey, underground. As she pulls the Desert Seltas out of the sand, she'll inject a special pheromone-like substance that causes the male to cease struggling. Once injected with the substance, Desert Seltas falls under her complete control and will do whatever she wants.
  203.
  204. Like their cousins, the Desert Seltas couple's teamwork is unrivaled, both of them covering each other's strengths and weaknesses. However, just like the other Seltas species, the biggest threat to this team is Desert Seltas Queen herself. Desert Seltas Queen is cannibalistic like her cousin, but she doesn't just make a meal out of her mates, she turns them into ammo! Like her cousin, she too can fire watery mucus from her mandibles, but she can further strengthen that attack by using a Desert Seltas.
  205.
  206. By using a Desert Seltas and combining him with a highly-compressed version of her watery mucus, she can fire her mate towards targets with great force for massive damage. The impact instantly kills her mate, scattering his body parts and bodily fluids everywhere. After her mate is killed, she'll dig into the sand and pull out another Desert Seltas to immediately replace him. Many Desert Seltas are used by Desert Seltas Queen as ammo for this powerful cannon-like attack known as the "Super Beetle Cannon" (甲虫激砲) by the Guild.
  207.
  208. Desert Seltas Queen will also use careless hunters as ammo for this attack as well. As mentioned above, she has small hairs on her body, and these hairs also attach sand to her shell, further protecting her from the intense sun in the desert.

  224. Name: Kecha Wacha (ケチャワチャ)
  225. Title: Strange Monkey Fox (奇猿狐)
  226. Average Length: 886cm
  227. Average Height: 385.3 cm
  228. Foot Measurements: 242cm
  229.
  230. Order: Pelagusia
  231. Suborder: Patagium Beast
  232. Family: Kecha Wacha
  233.
  234. Habitats: Ancestral Steppe, Sunken Hollow, Primal Forest, Everwood
  235.
  236. An arboreal species of fanged beast, Kecha Wacha is an unusual monster found living in dense forests. Curious and mischievous in nature like a fox, some travelers and merchants have had trouble with Kecha Wacha while traveling from one point to another. Kecha Wacha is especially known to harass people that have food on them. Kecha Wacha will go out of its way to attack people as it searches for the person that has whatever treats it's looking to feeding on. Despite its slim appearance, Kecha Wacha is surprisingly strong.
  237.
  238. Kecha Wacha is a rather timid monster, but can be dangerous due to its curiosity. From it being an arboreal species, Kecha Wacha has evolved long claws on its hands that allow it to cling onto various branches in its environment and to swing from one tree to another with ease. These claws aren't the only things supporting Kecha Wacha in the trees. Its feet have sharp claws that further aid in its climbing abilities and its prehensile tail has a row of spikes on it that help Kecha Wacha to grasp onto branches without the need of its other limbs.
  239.
  240. Not only does this monster have outstanding climbing abilities, but it's the only known fanged beast that can "glide." Kecha Wacha has specialized membranes between its arms and legs used for gliding, and, depending on the height differences in its environments, it can stay in the air for extended periods of time and travel long distances.
  241.
  242. Kecha Wacha primarily feeds on insects, particularly Altaroth. To help it find prey efficiently, and detect threats within its territory, Kecha Wacha has evolved large ears that can pick up the tiniest sounds from great distances. Although these ears grant Kecha Wacha amazing hearing, loud sounds at close range can easily stun the monster, and it can be blinded bright flashes of light due to its well-developed eyesight. To make up for those weaknesses, Kecha Wacha has an additional use for its ears.
  243.
  244. Kecha Wacha can cover its face by using its ears, creating a sort of mask over the monster's face, thus protecting it from loud noises and blinding flashes of light. Markings that resemble eyes can be found on the back of its ears, which it uses to scare off potential threats and to attract the opposite sex. Male Kecha Wacha will repeatedly open and close their ears to attract females. Females will mate with the male with the best display. When enraged, the markings will glow red due to an increase in blood flow in Kecha Wacha's body, indicating that the monster is angry. These red markings are also attractive to the opposite sex (The brighter red the markings are, the more attractive the Kecha Wacha is).
  245.
  246. Noticeably, Kecha Wacha has a long trunk-like nose that allows it to fire a barrage of watery mucus at prey. This mucus is used to restrain the movements of its prey.

  277.
  278. The white ash-colored subspecies of Kecha Wacha, Ash Kecha Wacha is a highly aggressive species of fanged beast that prefers to stay on the ground rather than in the trees. From it living in harsher environments compared to its cousin, Ash Kecha Wacha has evolved different color patterns on its fur to act as a warning to predators and to attract the opposite sex. With these different colors, Ash Kecha Wacha sticks out in its habitat.
  279.
  280. Rather than doing the same curious antics that its cousin does to humans in the trees, Ash Kecha Wacha is known to attack hunters and other threats on sight. Compared to Kecha Wacha, Ash Kecha Wacha is more violent and aggressive in combat.
  281.
  282. Since Ash Kecha Wacha primarily patrols the ground, it had to become a more skilled glider in the air to make up for the lack of trees in the environments that it prefers to inhabit. To provide extra protection against threats, the skin on Ash Kecha Wacha's ears is hardened due to keratin and, when the ears are folded over its face, they can not only intimidate threats but can also repel incoming attacks.
  283.
  284. While its front is relatively armored, its tail and hindlegs aren't. While Kecha Wacha is capable of shooting watery mucus out of its nose, Ash Kecha Wacha can fire a flaming mucus out of its nose. Ash Kecha Wacha feeds on insects and nuts that are fermented in its body after consumption, producing a flammable liquid inside of that ignites when in contact with air. The moment Ash Kecha Wacha fires this liquid out of its trunk-like nose, it'll burst into flames.

  310.
  311. Tetsucabra is a large frog-like monster that is a part of the amphibian class and can be found living in a wide range of areas such as scorching hollows and freezing tundras, though it prefers to live in caverns. Tetsucabra spends most of its time on land but has been seen submerging itself underwater to ambush prey. It can easily swallow smaller monsters in a single gulp.
  312.
  313. Covering its body is a flexible yet hard rubber-like shell plating that can't easily be broken, and adorning said shell is red and black scales that give it camouflage within the cavern environments it primarily inhabits. On its head are small horns that the monster its title.
  314.
  315. Much like frogs, Tetsucabra has well-developed legs that allow it to leap great heights and distances alike. From the way its legs are designed, Tetsucabra has a hard time turning as it leaps at prey and can't easily make small turns while chasing down its quarry. To make up for its maneuverability, Tetsucabra is capable of spewing mucus out of its mouth that will either restrain prey or lower its prey's stamina. Tetsucabra can also smash the ground with its powerful legs, staggering its quarry long enough for it to turn around and attack.
  316.
  317. Tetsucabra's most defining feature is its massive jaws. Its skull has a distinctive shape with opposing fangs as well as a sturdy lower jaw that's evolution warrants study by researchers, plus said skull is more durable than normal bones. Tetsucabra's massive shovel-like jaws are extremely strong, allowing the monster to dig through the earth in its environment with ease and to pull out massive boulders out of the ground. It's even capable of smashing rocks to smithereens with these jaws as well.
  318.
  319. Sticking out of Tetsucabra's bottom jaws are two massive tusks used for movement and attacking. The tusks themselves are capable weapons, but the Tetsucabra primarily uses them as tools. By using its tusks, Tetsucabra can manipulate its environment to its advantage against predators and prey alike. As mentioned above, Tetsucabra is known to pull massive boulders out of the ground with its jaws that it uses both as a weapon and a shield.
  320.
  321. Tetsucabra can fling boulders at threats by using its jaws, and it can pull ones out of the ground to block incoming attacks and to enclose areas, making it harder for assailants to escape its wrath. One might think that lifting up so many boulders would put a strain on Tetsucabra's body, but it can support itself, more specifically its spine, by using its tail. Its tail will inflate with fluid whenever it exerts itself, helping it support and balance itself as it moves.
  322.
  323. Without both tusks, Tetsucabra can't lift up and hold such massive boulders within its jaws. Although it may lose its tusks in combat or while digging, recent finds by researchers have revealed that a Tetsucabra's damaged tusks grow back even harder and stronger than before. Although its rare, Tetsucabra does use its front claws against enemies occasionally. Its short claws are strong enough to pulverize rock, and it's said that stronger individuals can smash through boulders with their claws.
  324.
  325. During the breeding season, male Tetsucabra will use their jaws to create large holes to attract females. Female Tetsucabra will lay their eggs in these holes before the males pick up the eggs and carry them inside of their mouths. A male Tetsucabra won't eat anything at all as it carries its young in its mouth and will continue to care for them until they have developed fully functional limbs.

  354. Berserk Tetsucabra is the subspecies of Tetsucabra. Sharing many of the same adaptations as the normal Tetsucabra, Berserk Tetsucabra isn't much different from its cousin though the main difference is its behavior and habits.
  355.
  356. Like its cousin, Berserk Tetsucabra has a massive jaw used for digging into the ground and grasping boulders. Unlike the normal variety of Tetsucabra, Berserk Tetsucabra uses powderstone boulders. Not only do these boulders provide Berserk Tetsucabra protection from incoming attacks and block off an enemy's path, but they explode. These powderstone boulders explode overtime, but Berserk Tetsucabra can trigger these explosions immediately by either crushing the boulders in its jaws or by having them collide with an object, exploding upon impact.
  357.
  358. From Berserk Tetsucabra's habit of using the powderstones, its scales have become dirty from the soot and gases produced by the explosive boulders. Its face and tusk will also heat up like iron when an explosion occurs near its face. If a person looks closely at Berserk Tetsucabra's body, they could see some of the monster's original colors under the substances that cover its body. Despite its body being soiled by the impurities from the boulders, the explosions from the powderstones have made its entire body (Jaws, claws, shell, and scales) tougher and more resistant against massive blasts. There is no signs of damage on the monster's body either.
  359.
  360. Berserk Tetsucabra are known to use the powderstones to gain territory, and males use said explosions from these boulders to attract females.

  377. Average Length: 946.7cm (Excluding claws)
  378. Average Height: 818.7cm
  379.
  380. Order: Chelicerata
  381. Family: Syclla
  382.
  383. Sunken Hollow, Primal Forest, Everwood, Marshlands
  384.
  385. Nerscylla is a large spider-like monster that is neither a neopteron nor a carapaceon. Rather than being a part of either of those two classes, Nerscylla is in a new monster class known as "temnoceran" due to its extendable mandibles, something both neopteron and carapaceon lack. Due to its mandibles extendable nature, Nerscylla can easily attack and bite into prey from a variety of ranges. It'll usually quickly spread out its mandibles before slamming them together, severely damaging any prey items caught within its jaws.
  386.
  387. Like spiders, Nerscylla is known to construct a web out of silk that it produces inside of its abdomen. It spins these webs to defend its territory and to capture prey, and its nest is known to extend to places/routes where other creatures often travel. A Nerscylla's entire nest can cover a vast cave system and can even prevent lava from flowing throughout the Sunken Hollow, preventing the locale from changing into the Volcanic Hollow.
  388.
  389. Traders, farmers, and livestock often take the same routes that Nerscylla's prey does, placing them in direct conflict with the monster. Some livestock, and potentially people, have been attacked and devoured by Nerscylla due to them walking into the monster's unseen death trap. Nerscylla is fully capable of taking down large prey such as bird wyverns and even flying wyverns, but the prey that Nerscylla is most fond of is Gypceros. Nerscylla is considered to be the natural predator of Gypceros.
  390.
  391. When prey is caught in its web, Nerscylla will sting them with a stinger hidden in its abdomen, putting the unfortunate creature to sleep, before hanging said creature from its web for later consumption. Nerscylla will inject digestive juices into its prey's body, liquifying its quarry's insides, before sucking up the remains of its prey to feed itself.
  392.
  393. Although Nerscylla's favorite prey is Gypceros, it doesn't just eat them. Not only are Gypceros prey to Nerscylla, but they're also an important resource that Nerscylla uniquely uses to its advantage in its environment. Nerscylla's exoskeleton is white in color, though most people rarely ever see the monster's true appearance due to the fact that Nerscylla can normally be seen wearing the skin of Gypceros as a cloak.
  394.
  395. Nerscylla is known to rip the skin off a Gypceros's body and wear it as a cloak to help it better camouflage itself in the shadows, giving it its title, and to further protect its body from attacks, especially electrical ones. It also gains its poison from Gypceros as well. Poison can still be found in the Gypceros skin, and said poison solidifies on Nerscylla's back, creating toxic crystals that drip poison onto the ground while it's upside down. The poison also solidifies inside of Nerscylla's mandibles, forming the deadly spikes found in its maw.
  396.
  397. Depending on the species' environment, it's likely that a Nerscylla will use a different kind of monster instead of a Gypceros to cope with environmental differences. Who knows what other kinds of Nerscylla could exist in the world of Monster Hunter.
  398.
  399. As a Nerscylla ages, its poison becomes stronger (Individuals encountered in higher ranks in MH4U with the poisonous sting and deadlier poison). Its white shell is popular with women and treated as a top-class material.

  425.
  426. Shrouded Nerscylla is the subspecies of Nerscylla that is usually found living in the Dunes. This subspecies shares many of the same adaptations as the normal Nerscylla, but there are a few differences between both species.
  427.
  428. Nocturnal in nature, Shrouded Nerscylla is most active at night in the desert that it inhabits. Instead of wearing the skin of a Gypceros on its body like its cousin, Shrouded Nerscylla wears the skin of a Khezu on its body like a cloak. Shrouded Nerscylla wears the skin of Khezu to provide it protection from the cold in its environment and to sustain moisture in its body. Shrouded Nerscylla's exoskeleton can't retain moisture, but Khezu's skin can. By wearing this skin, it's protected from the intense heat.
  429.
  430. Just like how the normal Nerscylla got its poisons from preying on Gypceros, Shrouded Nerscylla got its poisons from Khezu and presumably other species in its environment. The crystallized poisonous spikes on its back are yellow in color and can paralyze just about any prey items they touch. Once a prey item is incapacitated by its paralyzing venom, it can use its mandibles and stinger to further envenomate its quarry and drain their health.
  431.
  432. Instead of crafting a web that spreads a great distance around its territory, Shrouded Nerscylla burrows underground and ambushes prey from below the sands in its environment, bursting out of the ground with its mandibles wide open to deliver a deadly bite. Despite not crafting a web, Shrouded Nerscylla is still capable of swinging and jumping from its silk threads surprisingly well. By attaching its silk to nearby objects in its environment, or by forming a pendulum in the air, it's capable of swinging around with great efficiency.
  433.
  434. Although Shrouded Nerscylla uses Khezu skin, it doesn't obtain said skin in the Dunes. When a young Shrouded Nerscylla is born in the Dunes, it's known to form a kite out of its silk (Ballooning) and fly with the wind to go to a different environment in search of food. These young Shrouded Nerscylla will be sent flying to various environments, and some of them will end up landing in the Sunken Hollow and will feed on corpses as they grow up.
  435.
  436. As they grow, they'll start hunting other monsters. Those individuals able to successfully hunt a Khezu will leave the Sunken Hollow and return to the Dunes during the mating season to breed since they have the skin needed for protection against the elements in that environment. Shrouded Nerscylla that weren't able to successfully hunt a Khezu will simply stay in whatever environment they're currently inhabiting and breed with other individuals that live in said environment. It's believed that individuals vary from environment to environment.
  437.
  438. It's believed that individuals vary from environment to environment, and research so far supports this theory. There have even been reports of Nerscylla wearing different monster skins in certain places. The ones encountered in-game are the ones that were living in the S. Hollow.

  459. Average Height: 922.3cm
  460. Foot Measurements: 206cm

  464. Family: Najarala
  465.
  466. Habitats: Primal Forest, Everwood, Marshlands, Verdant Hills
  467.
  468. Najarala is a snake-like monster that is a part of the newly discovered snake wyvern classification. Thus far, not much is known about this monster class, but Najarala's discovery led to the Hunter's Guild reclassifying the Remobra as snake wyverns. Sporting a long slender body like a snake, Najarala is surprisingly large, even while it's a juvenile, and easily dwarfs most other large monsters in its environment.
  469.
  470. Covering Najarala is a unique shell, which comes in various sizes, grows throughout the monster's body. Thought to have evolved from the monster's scales to further protect it from attacks, the ones on its neck and tail are particularly developed compared to the other ones. The plates found on the back of its neck and tail have unique acoustic properties that amplify sound, allowing Najarala to produce powerful sound waves that'll disorient prey and give it a chance to ambush its quarry. With these plates, its various roars are amplified greatly.
  471.
  472. Some of the plates on its tail can be detached and planted into the ground, so Najarala can stun prey from great distances with them. The detached plates will also explode when hit by any kind of sound waves, damaging any nearby creatures caught within the blast radius. When these plates are planted in the ground, hunters can destroy them by attacking with their weapons. Najarala's goal while hunting is to stun prey and to block off all of its victim's escape routes before delivering the killing blow.
  473.
  474. Usually, when prey is stunned by its sound waves, it'll move in and wrap its entire body around its victim before constricting them to death like a snake. Once the prey item is killed, it'll tear into its victim with its sharp beak as it begins to feed on the corpse. If its sound waves aren't doing the job, Najarala has a neurotoxic venom in its fangs that can paralyze prey, giving it enough time to wrap around and finish off its victims with ease. These same toxins can also be found in its bone marrow.
  475.
  476. Despite its size, Najarala can move surprisingly fast. Under the shell that adorns the monster's body, as well as its underbelly, is a highly flexible hide that allows Najarala to move with great speed and grants the monster its immense flexibility. Unlike snakes, Najarala still has limbs on its body. These limbs, particularly the hind ones, seem to help the monster balance itself as it stands up. If these limbs are greatly damaged, Najarala is known to lose its balance and occasionally fall over when it attacks.
  477.
  478. There have been reports of abnormally colored Najarala living in different regions, likely caused by the environments they inhabit and their diet. The light blue individual's colors resemble some marine organisms, so it's thought that it lives near the sea. The red individuals are believed to live in volcanic regions while it is unknown where the white Najarala and purple Najarala originate from. More research is required to understand these various Najarala and their habits, that's if they're even real.

  507. Habitats: Frozen Seaway, Everwood
  508.
  509. Tidal Najarala is the subspecies of Najarala found living within frigid climates. This subspecies shares many of the same adaptations as Najarala, but there are a few differences between both species.
  510.
  511. The shell that adorns Tidal Najarala's body is made of a transparent crystal-like material that easily absorbs solar energy from the sun, keeping Tidal Najarala warm in the freezing environments it inhabits. Normally, Tidal Najarala has multiple vivid colors on its body that act as a warning to predators that may try to prey upon it, but, when fatigued, Tidal Najarala will lose these warning colors.
  512.
  513. Compared to Najarala, Tidal Najarala's beak is stronger and harder due to it needing to use it to pierce through the ice in its environment. Tidal Najarala is capable of burrowing through the ice and swimming in frigid waters, meaning it can traverse through the land and sea. Like its cousin, Tidal Najarala has a neurotoxic venom in its fangs that it uses to paralyze prey, and it has plates found on the back of its neck and tail that are noticeably softer than a normal Najarala's.
  514.
  515. Despite Tidal Najarala's shell being made of a crystal-like material, its shell isn't very different from its cousin's. While Najarala's shell plating is primarily used for generating sound waves, Tidal Najarala's shell plating is used for repelling water. The detachable plates on Tidal Najarala's tail, known as splashers, changes shape to channel and deflect water in other directions towards targets. Their structure allows Tidal Najarala to use slight sound vibrations to ricochet water off its plates before striking elusive prey.
  516.
  517. It takes time for an individual to master this ability. Tidal Najarala has a specialized sac inside of its body that it uses to store large amounts of water for itself. It can spit this water out of its mouth to bounce off its plates and snipe prey from great distances. Tidal Najarala is said to grow a bit larger compared to the normal Najarala.

  543. Zamite is the juvenile form of Zamtrios that can be found living in the Frozen Seaway. Nicknamed the "Cleaners of the Permafrost" (凍土の掃除屋) by some locals, these small amphibians are voracious predators from the moment they are born. Hatching from eggs embedded in the ice by their parents, Zamite use their arrowed-shaped horns to emerge from their frozen prison. Once out in the world, they'll do everything they can to survive and grow.
  544.
  545. Zamite aren't very big when they hatch, but that changes once they get hold of a prey item. While small, a Zamite only has two front limbs and slides on the ground using its belly. From its unique body shape and specialized horn, a Zamite can move surprisingly fast. A Zamite will slide towards prey with great speed before latching onto the victim with its sharp shark-like teeth. Some of its teeth have been found embedded in the hides of some monsters, and these teeth regrow quickly. Once it has a hold of a creature, the Zamite will spin in place as it uses its jaws to widen the wound attempting to tear a large chunk of flesh out of its prey or to burrow into the prey's body and feed on its victim from the inside.
  546.
  547. As mentioned previously, Zamite are voracious predators and have even been seen emerging out of the corpses of dead monsters. These small monsters don't leave any food sources in their environment untouched.
  548.
  549. Noticeably, Zamite have thick stretchy skin that doesn't tear easily and feels smooth or coarse, depending on which way a person rubs it. A Zamite needs such stretchy skin due to this monster being able to rapidly grow in size. The growth cycle of a Zamite is quite fast, and it has to grow quickly to avoid being eaten by larger predators. Its limbs are housed within its body until it gains enough nutrients from its food. Once the Zamite has gotten enough food, it'll produce gas inside of its body that causes it to grow rapidly in mere seconds, making the Zamite larger and stronger than it was before. It's also capable of breathing icy water from its mouth once it has eaten enough.

  579.
  580. Due to this monster growing in size, its aggression and appetite have greatly increased compared to its juvenile form. Some humans have been relentlessly attacked by this monster while traveling through cold regions because of this as well. Zamtrios sees all creatures in its environment as prey, including humans, so it won't let anything it encounters escape easily, especially when it's hungry. Zamtrios has been seen preying upon large fish and Popo. Much like Plesioth, one of its favorite prey items is ironically frogs. Hunters can lure a Zamtrios out of the icy water by using a frog.

  582. Covering Zamtrio's body is thick ice-resistant skin that tears off its body easily, acting as a defense mechanism for the monster when it's attacked. New skin can be found under the current skin, immediately replacing the old skin that was peeled off the Zamtrios's body. Its skin is cold yet surprisingly warm. Much like sharks, Zamtrios's hide feels like sandpaper with its smooth-but-coarse texture. Its scales are razor-sharp like a blade and can rip apart most creatures they come in contact with.
  583.
  584. Not only does Zamtrios have shark-like skin, it also has a massive dorsal fin on its back and saw-like teeth like one as well. Zamtrios is a great swimmer and uses its dorsal fin to slice through the ice in its environment as it chases down prey. This fin is a delicacy to some. Its triangular-shaped, blunt saw-like teeth are used for biting and crushing prey as the Zamtrios slowly and painfully tears its victim to shreds. Even if one of these teeth are pulled out, another one will grow in its place.
  585.
  586. Inside of Zamtrios's body is a special liquid that it can discharge from its body. All of its breath-based attacks contain this liquid and is extremely cold. Its watery beams can drop a creature's body temperature dramatically, and it can encase its prey in ice with its spit. When enraged, Zamtrios will secrete this liquid from its skin, and the outside air will cause the liquid to instantly freeze, covering the Zamtrios in an icy armor. This armor provides Zamtrios extra protection as well as increases the strength of its physical attacks. Zamtrios loses the arrow-shaped horn, which it had as a juvenile, as it grows, but it can create one out of ice when it's enraged. It also forms a blade on its tail while angered.
  587.
  588. While it's more dangerous in its icy state, it has one more form that it can enter once it's further enraged. When its anger reaches its peak, the liquid inside of its body will turn into gas, and this change causes Zamtrios's abdomen to inflate several times its original size. When it enters this state, Zamtrios becomes slower yet heavier. While its belly is weaker to attacks in this state, Zamtrios still hits surprisingly hard and will attempt to encase foes in ice before crushing them under its own weight.
  589.
  590. If the Zamtrios stays in this state for too long or sustains a lot of damage, it'll release the gas inside of its body out of pores found around its abdomen to return to its normal state and size. Although Zamtrios can cover its body in ice and inflate itself greatly, it doesn't enter either state intentionally. Seemingly, both states are a side effect from the special liquid found inside of its body, and its mood could play a part in how the substance reacts as well. Zamtrios are known to embed their eggs in ice.

  619.
  620. Tigerstripe Zamtrios is the desert subspecies of Zamtrios. It shares many of the same adaptations as the normal Zamtrios, but there are a few differences between them.
  621.
  622. From living and adapting to the Dunes, Tigerstripe Zamtrios sports different colors that are tiger-like in nature, giving this subspecies its name. Although Tigerstripe Zamtrios's skin looks brown due to the sand attached to its body, the monster actually sports darker colors. Mucus secretions can be found throughout its body, and this substance is used to keep the monster's skin moist and to protect it from the harsh sun in its environment. This mucus is how sand attaches to its body, granting it better camouflage.
  623.
  624. Although Tigerstripe Zamtrios can be found in the Dunes, this monster primarily lives near oases. It rehydrates itself in these oases and uses the water from them for its own benefits, including breeding.
  625.
  626. Like its cousin, this subspecies is capable of breathing water from its mouth, but it can also breathe a paralyzing liquid out of its maw as well. By combining the oasis' water with its own bodily fluids, Tigerstripe Zamtrios is capable of breathing paralyzing yellow globs out of its mouth that'll restrain prey.
  627.
  628. While its cousin can form ice on its body and inflate its body greatly, Tigerstripe Zamtrios can only do the latter. Although Tigerstripe Zamtrios can only inflate itself, it can handle and control the gas inside of its body much better than Zamtrios can. While Zamtrios just randomly and unintentionally enters its icy state and inflated state, Tigerstripe Zamtrios can enter its inflated state intentionally without much warning, even when it's not enraged.
  629.
  630. By vaporizing or liquefying the water inside of its body, this subspecies can expand and contract its body with ease, causing the monster to change its size in an instant. To help with its dramatic body changes, Tigerstripe Zamtrios has thick elastic skin like its icy cousin. It also has hard, thick scales that have a smooth surface, which was created either by or for the sand in its environment, while its tail has a huge barb on the end that can easily kill most prey with a single swing.

  661. Ruby Basarios is a newly discovered subspecies of Basarios found only living in the Everwood. It shares many of the same characteristics as the normal Basarios, but there are a few differences between the two.
  662.
  663. Looking nearly identical to a normal Basarios, Ruby Basarios has pink crystals, which can be found throughout the Everwood, covering its body for protection and better camouflage. Much like how a Barroth can toss mud off its body, Ruby Basarios can do the same with the crystals. These crystals usually shatter the moment they hit the ground, but some of them will remain stuck in the ground after being shaken off the Ruby Basarios's body. Hunters can mine these crystals for rare minerals and ore.
  664.
  665. Outside of its slightly different appearance, not much is known about the Ruby Basarios though it isn't very different from the normal Basarios. It's stronger than a normal Basarios and has a more brilliant appearance due to the crystals that adorn it. One question that has yet to be answered is what Ruby Basarios becomes when it grows up? Will it become a Gravios, a Black Gravios, or could it possibly become something else entirely?

  684.
  685. Order: Elder Dragon
  686. Suborder: Revolving Dragon
  687. Family: Magala
  688.
  689. The juvenile form of Shagaru Magala, Gore Magala is an elusive elder dragon, whose classification was once a mystery to the Guild. Before its true identity and nature were revealed, Gore Magala was thought to be a new species of wyvern of some kind.
  690.
  691. Before its discovery, Gore Magala was reported as a "mysterious black monster" that kept frequently appearing in various places and bringing calamity with it wherever it sudden appeared. Organizations couldn't identify the elder dragon at the time due to it not matching any known monsters, which is the reason why was "???" was its classification for a long time, and there being no existing documents about this particular monster.
  692.
  693. Since Gore Magala was clearly mysterious and dangerous, the Hunter's Guild made a special task force, the Ace Hunters, to follow the monster's movements in secret to prevent public panic. Although this team the Guild made was elite, this monster proved to be more aggressive than they thought.
  694.
  695. One of Gore Magala's most striking features is its wings. Folded on its back like a cape, Gore Magala drags the ends of its wings on the ground as it wanders from place to place. Gore Magala usually walks in a hunch-like position as it walks on all fours. Like most other elder dragons, Gore Magala is capable of flying with its wings and does so with great skill, but it also has another use for its wings that'll be described later.
  696.
  697. It's theorized that this monster's ancestors were originally either cave dwellers or lived underground, and this is supported by the fact that this monster is blind. Gore Magala doesn't have eyes and relies on another specialized sense to see its environment.
  698.
  699. On its wings are hair-like scales that frequently fall off its body and regrow due to its abnormally high metabolism. As it drags the ends of its wings on the ground, it'll leave these scales behind as it wanders through its habitat. When Gore Magala senses an enemy or prey within an area, it'll scatter these specialized scales around the area, leaving them to fly around the field, in various ways to discover the location of whatever other creatures are nearby. By attaching these scales to other creatures, it can detect the heat generated by the scales to pick up the exact location of its victims. Certain parts of Gore Magala's wings will begin to change color as its senses increase.
  700.
  701. When Gore Magala's senses reach their peak, two antennae, known as feelers, will come out of its head, and it'll release a large amount of its scales out of its wings into the air of the surrounding area, darkening the sky, as it enters its Frenzy State. In its Frenzy State, Gore Magala can clearly see everything in its environment now, and it'll attack wildly since it can now see the exact positioning of its victims. Not only does Gore Magala become more aggressive in this state, but it'll also start using its "wingarms".
  702.
  703. Thought to have evolved as a result of a malformation that didn't disappear with its ancestors, which eventually became a part of its species' genetics, Gore Magala walks on six legs rather than four while in its Frenzy State and uses its wingarms violently in combat. Gore Magala is fully capable of smashing into the ground, slashing prey, rushing down enemies, and even holding victims with its wingarms. Gore Magala has also been reported blocking attacks with its wingarms as it fights hunters.
  704.
  705. From all of the scattered scales in the air around Gore Magala while it's in the Frenzy State, the monster can generate a spark in its mouth that'll cause a chain of dust explosions to occur in front of it, dealing serious damage to any creatures caught within the blast. While in its Frenzy State, Gore Magala will stay in a single area and won't leave due to it essentially marking that place as its territory when it enters that state. If Gore Magala's feelers take too much damage, its senses will decrease greatly, and it'll return to its normal state. Since the feelers are considered Gore Magala's lifeline, the monster can't function properly if they're wounded.
  706.
  707. Gore Magala is a predator that has been seen preying upon lesser species, and its abnormal strength and scales make it a danger to larger monsters as well. A pair of hunters have reported seeing a Gore Magala snapping a Tigrex's spine with its wingarms, instantly killing the flying wyvern. Despite competing with other powerful predators, Gore Magala has rarely been seen with any wounds or scars on its body. Not only is Gore Magala strong, but its shown to be quite intelligent. Some are known to play dead before slipping away and escaping from the battlefield when given an opportunity too.

  726. An abomination that many researchers say shouldn't exist, Chaotic Gore Magala is a variant of Gore Magala that failed to molt properly into a Shagaru Magala. This Gore Magala has many of the same adaptations as the normal one, but there are a few differences between the two.
  727.
  728. "It's first come, first serve" when it comes to the Magala species. When they reach a certain age, they'll head back to their original home to molt into a Shagaru Magala, but only a handful of them (Normally, just a single individual) will reach adulthood. While some of them become adults, the other individuals will suffer a different fate. Shagaru Magala uses a substance to spread the Frenzy Virus rather than hair-like scales, and this substance has special properties within it that prevent other Gore Magala from molting properly.
  729.
  730. Any Gore Magala that tries to molt within a Shagaru Magala's infectious mist will only do so halfway, creating a Chaotic Gore Magala. These individuals are forever stuck as juveniles, and likely won't live for very long as well. However, younger Gore Magala that aren't yet mature, or close to molting, don't seem to be affected by the properties found within the Shagaru Magala's virus and could still potentially reach adulthood as long as a Shagaru Magala isn't in the area when they have further grown.
  731.
  732. From failing to molt properly, Chaotic Gore Magala shares some features with Shagaru Magala. In the case of one individual that was found, half of its face and some scales on one of its wings partially resemble a Shagaru Magala. Although a Gore Magala has yet to develop eyes, Chaotic Gore Magala seemingly has developed one eye that'll eerily glow red when it enters its Frenzy State. It's currently unknown to researchers if Chaotic Gore Magala can even see anything with that eye.
  733.
  734. The Shagaru Magala side of its body is noticeably stronger than its normal side (This is better shown in MH4U), and its virus-based attacks are wilder and stronger than a normal Gore Magala's. It also uses its wingarms more often, even when not in its Frenzy State. Understandably, Chaotic Gore Magala's power is greater than a normal Gore Magala, but that abnormal strength granted by the Shagaru Magala half of its body is thought to be slowly killing it. It's believed that the rest of its body can't yet handle all of that extra power.
  735.
  736. Since Chaotic Gore Magala is in such a traumatic state, it's been found that it's more aggressive than a normal Gore Magala. Likely due to it feeling more vulnerable, Chaotic Gore Magala is known to have erratic behavior, making it a dangerous monster for experienced hunters.

  751.
  752. The Frenzy Virus (狂竜ウイルス) is a unique status effect that was recently discovered alongside the Magalas. The Frenzy Virus is produced by the Magalas via their hair-like scales (Gore Magala) and or a mysterious substance (Shagaru Magala). Outside of that information, not much is really known about the virus itself. The Frenzy Virus is currently being researched in Dundorma by the Wyceum, and the Professor there is constantly exposed to the virus daily while studying it. With the help of his trusty assistant, more answers could be discovered about the Frenzy Virus in the near future.
  753.
  754. While Gore Magala uses the Frenzy Virus (Its scales) to increase its own senses, Shagaru Magala uses the virus (The substance) to get rid of competition and to reproduce. If another monster inhales too many scales or too much of the substance, they'll become infected by the Frenzy Virus and will become a "Frenzied Monster". Frenzied Monsters can be identified by a purple hue found throughout their entire body, red eyes, and unusual roars that sound abnormal due to the effects of the virus. Most non-elder dragon monsters can be infected by the Frenzy Virus.
  755.
  756. The Frenzy Virus causes some abnormalities in the nervous system, increases physical strength, and decreases the body's resistance. This virus makes all monsters extremely violent and eventually kills most of them once the symptoms take effect. With some monsters, the Frenzy Virus is also known to affect the adaptations of a monster, such as Brachydios's slime mold. A Frenzied Brachydios's slime mold is known to explode extraordinarily fast.
  757.
  758. When the virus takes effect on a monster, the victim is known to slump to the ground for several seconds, and the monster's coloration darkens as the virus overtakes their nervous system. After a short period of time passes, the monster reawakens, now fully infected by the virus. Frenzied Monsters will attack all other creatures they encounter on sight, including members of their own kind. Like the Magalas, Frenzied Monsters can also infect other monsters with the Frenzy Virus and further spread the virus, potentially causing a Frenzy Outbreak.
  759.
  760. Even if a Gore Magala or Shagaru Magala are killed, the Frenzied Monsters could start another Frenzy Outbreak if they're left unchecked so it's best to eliminate most, if not all, of them as soon as possible.
  761.
  762. Not only does the Frenzy Virus affect monsters, but it also affects humans. Humans can fight off the virus by attacking aggressively and dealing enough damage to monsters. If they fail to do so, they temporarily can't heal from wounds or injures they sustain in hunts. The incubation period of the Frenzy Virus can be prolonged in humans by either using a Nulberry or a Portable Steam Bomb. Hunters that can fight off the effects of the Frenzy Virus can deal more precise critical hits to monsters with the help of the virus's unique effects.

  781.
  782. While Frenzied Monsters are dangerous, most of them usually die shortly after being infected by the Frenzy Virus. However, some particularly strong individuals can overcome the effects of the Frenzy Virus and enter a new state known as the "Apex State" (極限状態).
  783.
  784. An unstable state that only a handful of Frenzied Monsters can enter, the Apex State is caused by a monster overcoming the effects of the Frenzy Virus yet not completely recovering from the virus itself. These "Apex Monsters" are extremely dangerous and considered to be more threatening than a Frenzied Deviljho. In terms of raw destructive power, Apex Monsters are considered to be comparable to elder dragons in terms of strength. In the case of an abnormally large Apex Seregios, it scared off all other Seregios within its territory, causing flocks of them to invade lands they normally aren't found in. There have also been reports of Apex Monsters invading fortresses and towns as well.
  785.
  786. Like the Magalas, Apex Monsters can leave behind frenzy clouds on the ground at will, which will infect all other nearby creatures, thus potentially causing another Frenzy Outbreak. Not only are Apex Monsters stronger than Frenzied Monsters, but they're also far more durable as well. Due to the effects of the Frenzy Virus, an Apex Monster's hide is far tougher than a normal monster's, and its body also has a higher resistance to statuses and elements.
  787.
  788. Although Apex Monsters have overcome the Frenzy Virus, it's unknown what happens to them after doing so. It's theorized by some that Apex Monsters will eventually return to their normal uninfected selves, or they'll forever remain in the Apex State until they eventually die.

  829. A shadow wanders in its wake
  830.

  842.
  843. "Turn now, Heaven's Wheel!
  844. Turn, turn, that we may heal!"
  845.
  846.
  847. Named after a mountain god within Cathar's lore, Shagaru Magala is the adult form of the recently discovered Gore Magala. While Gore Magala was almost a complete mystery, Shagaru Magala was depicted in legends revolving around a great calamity that befell Heaven's Mount long ago. Although the elder dragon itself isn't mentioned by name in said legends, the scale of a Shagaru Magala was found at where that catastrophe took place, the Sanctuary, proving that one appeared in Heaven's Mount in the past.
  848.
  849. It presumably takes a Gore Magala a long time to reach adulthood, and the individual will head back to its birthplace to molt into a Shagaru Magala. Not only is that individual heading to its birthplace to molt, but others of its kind are as well. Chances are only one of the Gore Magala will become a Shagaru Magala while the others won't ever get a chance to molt into one.
  850.
  851. After molting, its feelers become horns, and it develops fully-functional eyes. While Gore Magala is a dark black in color, Shagaru Magala is an iridescent white color that radiates in the darkness of night.
  852.
  853. Like its juvenile form, Shagaru Magala is capable of producing the Frenzy Virus in its body though it uses a mysterious substance rather than hair-like scales. Shagaru Magala also produces and releases more of the Frenzy Virus compared to Gore Magala. When a Shagaru Magala is in the area, it'll surround its territory with a mysterious substance, creating a black mist that surrounds the entire area and blocks out the sun.
  854.
  855. Any monsters caught within the mist will be infected with the Frenzy Virus, becoming Frenzied Monsters. These Frenzied Monsters will go on a rampage once infected and will attack all other creatures they encounter, including members of their own kind. The infected monsters will either eventually die from the effects of the virus, end up killing each other, or, rarely, overcome the Frenzy Virus and become an Apex Monster. Most of the Frenzied Monsters will die, leaving nothing but corpses behind littering the surrounding area.
  856.
  857. Despite this being destructive, this is what Shagaru Magala wants to happen. While Gore Magala uses the Frenzy Virus (Its scales) to see, Shagaru Magala uses the virus for two different reasons: To get rid of competition and to reproduce. Within the misty substance that it produces are specialized properties (Suppressor cells) that are used for inhibiting other Gore Magala from molting properly. Any Gore Magala that molts within this substance will fail to molt properly, thus becoming a Chaotic Gore Magala.
  858.
  859. Not only are suppressor cells used by Shagaru Magala, but germ cells are as well. Unlike most other creatures, the Magalas have no specific gender and they reproduce in a similar manner to a fungus. Contained within the black mist of a Shagaru Magala are germ cells, aka its parasitic offspring, and the young will develop inside the corpses of Frenzied Monsters before eventually emerging. This species of elder dragon lives for a long time, but their birthrate is likely low, possibly related to their genes and or the amount of prey around.
  860.
  861. As expected, the fully grown Shagaru Magala is far stronger than a Gore Magala, and it has better control over the virus. It even can cause spires to explode from the ground when it's enraged. Despite Shagaru Magala being the adult form of Gore Magala, the monster's claws harden with age, and they can be used like a tree's growth rings identify the monster's age.

  864. Cathar's Song (2nd Half)
  865. "If ever should the dead awaken
  866. Then welcome them as life reborn
  867.
  868. And in my heart from sleep is taken
  869. Then let it sing upon the morn
  870.
  871. Let all those souls be held entranced
  872. And gather to my mighty strains
  873.
  874. For if they die again, by chance,
  875. Their voices join the grand refrain
  876.
  877. Each soul shall have its time again
  878. Within hearts they still reside
  879.
  880. And when I sing, they are sustained
  881. From death to life, I am their guide.
  882.
  883. Rejoice, rejoice my friend!
  884. Our song will never end!
  885. Never, ever end!"

  916. Suborder: Mine Dragon
  917. Family: Dah'ren
  918.
  919. Habitat: Great Desert
  920.
  921. A close relative of Jhen Mohran that sports a single horn, Dah'ren Mohran is a colossal elder dragon that is often seen swimming through the sands of the Great Desert near Val Habar. Dah'ren Mohran shares many of the same adaptations as Jhen Mohran, but there are a few differences between the two. While Jhen Mohran is 11161.9 cm long, Dah'ren Mohran is 11446.5cm long.
  922.
  923. Jhen Mohran has two long tusks that it uses to help it swim through the sand in its environment, while Dah'ren Mohran has a single horn to do so. Dah'ren Mohran burrows into the sand by spinning in a drill-like motion as it moves from place to place. Not only is this horn used for swimming, but it's also for destroying any objects in Dah'ren Mohran's path, including sandships and fortresses.
  924.
  925. On its back are multiple blowholes used for firing clumps of sand out of its body. Unlike Jhen Mohran, it can fire several smaller sand clumps out them at once, barraging hunters with waves of sand as it swims forward. Dah'ren Mohran is also capable of firing a large clump of hardened sand out of the large blowhole on its back, blocking equipment that can often be found on certain sandships.
  926.
  927. Much like Jhen Mohran, Dah'ren Mohran feeds on minerals and microorganisms found in the sands that it inhabits. The minerals found in the sand adheres to its body as it swims, polishing its scales and giving the monster's shell a unique rusty texture. The minerals attached to Dah'ren Mohran's body protects it from attacks and prevents other creatures from latching onto it easily. Hunters need to break certain parts before mounting the monster's back.
  928.
  929. Dah'ren Mohran is considerably more aggressive compared to Jhen Mohran, and it has been reported attacking places like Val Habar and Dundorma. Why it does so is a mystery. Although it's more dangerous than Jhen Mohran, many hunters are known to gather in Val Habar whenever one appears to get a chance to hunt the monster for its rare ore. A single piece of its ore can make any person wealthy.
  930.
  931. Before any hunter can get a chance to hunt the elder dragon down, they need to do special quests that challenge their skills. If a hunter fails to do these quests, then they won't be allowed to hunt Dah'ren Mohran during the prosperity festival. Any hunters that participate in the Dah'ren Mohran hunt and successfully repel the elder dragon will be given a unique medal by the Guild, granting those hunters a name in the history books for their bravery and strength.
  932.
  933. There is an old sketch that was made by a scribe that seemingly encountered Dah'ren Mohran, but the head shape of the sketch looks completely different from the actual Dah'ren Mohran that we know today. It's possible that this person encountered an unidentified species of Mohran.

  960. Oroshi Kirin is a subspecies of Kirin that was recently discovered by the Val Habar district of the Hunter's Guild. Oroshi Kirin shares many of the same adaptations as Kirin, though there are a few differences between the two.
  961.
  962. While a hunter was patrolling the Everwood, they felt a sudden freezing sensation in the air and came across a Kirin with black fur that was covered in cold air. The monster had a presence of mystery about that couldn't be explained. Since Oroshi Kirin is a recent discovery and there aren't many sightings of this elder dragon, the Guild hasn't tried to properly investigate the monster yet due to there not being much to go on. Compared to Kirin, Oroshi Kirin is considered to be more phantom-like in nature.
  963.
  964. While Kirin controls lightning with its horn, Oroshi Kirin is capable of controlling cold air with its horn. With its horn, Oroshi Kirin can lower the surrounding air temperature and create pillars of ice out of the moisture in the air. It can also create icy fogs that'll encase other creatures in snow and ice. In one legend, it's said that this old divine elder dragon used its frozen horn to freeze whole kingdoms in a single night. Not much else is known about Oroshi Kirin.

  986. Family: Rex
  987.
  988. Habitats: Tower, Great Forest (Not in-game)
  989.
  990. Molten Tigrex is rare species of Tigrex that was recently discovered wandering around the Tower. Molten Tigrex shares many of the same adaptations as Tigrex, but there are a few differences between the two. Molten Tigrex was theorized to exist for a long time due to the discovery of claw marks and prints far larger than those of an ordinary Tigrex being discovered within the Fonron region (フォンロン), which is the place where the Tower and Great Forest can be found.
  991.
  992. While an average Tigrex (4th Gen) is about 1735.4cm long, the average Molten Tigrex is about 2313.9cm long. Compared to both Tigrex and Brute Tigrex, Molten Tigrex is a giant among the Tigrex species. In ancient times, the Tigrex during that era were bigger than the ones we see today. As the climate changed, the Tigrex species evolved and grew smaller to adapt to the changes in their environment. However, this wasn't the case for Molten Tigrex. While most of them became smaller, Molten Tigrex became large due to the oxygen-rich environment surrounding the Tower. The Great Forest is quite primitive and has similar conditions to the environments found in ancient times that allowed its ancestors to grow so big.
  993.
  994. The giant gene that Tigrex's ancestors had remained dormant with most other species of Tigrex but the Great Forest's environment has reawakened that forgotten gene within Molten Tigrex, at least in theory, allowing it to grow so large. Rather than an evolutionary process causing Molten Tigrex to grow to such a size, gene mutation through its environment caused it to become a giant like its ancestors. Despite that being the case, Molten Tigrex could be seen as one of the last traces of a forgotten age. Due to its larger size, Molten Tigrex has more physical strength compared to its cousins, but it's noticeably more sluggish. While slower than its brethren, Molten Tigrex has a high metabolism, large lungs, and a powerful blastheart due to the oxygen-rich environment it inhabits.
  995.
  996. Like the red shell that adorns its body, Molten Tigrex's body temperature is quite high due to its intense metabolism. Its high metabolism causes old skin to constantly fall off its body as it moves, and, much like Teostra's powder, this old skin is explosive in nature. Molten Tigrex takes full advantage of the explosive nature of its skin and uses its flint-like, metallic claws to ignite them as it attacks. The impurities from the explosions adhere to its body, thus allowing it to produce more small explosions with its claws. Molten Tigrex's claws have a burnt scent to them, and marks from repeated blasts tell a disturbing history. Within its jaws are powerful teeth used for crushing and ripping apart prey.
  997.
  998. Like Brute Tigrex, Molten Tigrex can unleash some incredibly loud roars that can severely damage nearby prey. Molten Tigrex's abnormally large lungs allow it to roar continuously multiple times. Even if it misses, it can repeatedly roar to catch prey off guard.
  999.
1000. While slower than its brethren, Molten Tigrex's speed increases when it becomes enraged. Not only does it become faster, but its body becomes hotter as well, causing more dead skin to fly off it as it attacks. If Molten Tigrex takes more damage while enraged, it'll enter a second state of rage. In this second state of rage, Molten Tigrex's physical strength and body heat greatly increase, causing bloody veins from its muscles to appear throughout its body.
  1001.
1002. Molten Tigrex pushes its body to its limits while in this state and uses the full strength of its blastheart, which menacingly expands and contracts as it pulses with violence, to maintain said state. Normally sluggish in nature, Molten Tigrex becomes faster than its cousins once it enters that state of rage. In exchange for more power and ferocity, its body becomes weaker to attacks due to its expanded muscles being somewhat exposed through its shell while in that state. If that wasn't enough, that state of rage also puts a massive strain on its body and causes Molten Tigrex to tire more easily compared to its brethren.

  1026. Family: Amadur
  1027.
1028. Habitats: H. Mount (Speartip Crag)
  1029.
1030. An ancient elder dragon that has only ever been described in old fairy tales, Dalamadur is a titanic snake-like monster whose size is massive beyond human comprehension. Reaching a length of 44039.7cm, Dalamadur is considered to be one of the largest known monsters in the entire series (Currently, Zorah Magdaros is considered the largest monster despite its length only being 25764.59cm).
  1031.
1032. Dalamadur can be found in the Siki Country, which is where both Cathar and Heaven's Mount are located. Heaven's Mount shape is quite unusual and unstable, though it's said that locale was once like any other mountain in ancient times. In old fairy tales, it's revealed that Dalamadur is the reason why Heaven's Mount is in its current shape. It dug through the mountain and destroyed various parts of it just by simply slithering and constricting the formation. Back in those days, instead of Dalamadur being viewed as a living creature, it was seen as a natural disaster due to the monster's sheer size being too hard for ancient people to comprehend and from it being seen as a simple myth.
  1033.
1034. The Hunter's Guild finally discovered that this elder dragon was more than a mere myth when unusual crustal deformation began to occur in a region not too far away from Heaven's Mount known as the "Speartip Crag." The investigation team that was sent there was in complete shock once they saw the elder dragon and couldn't believe such a giant could exist. As described in the fairy tales, Dalamadur has a distinctive appearance that makes it look like a king, giving it its title.
  1035.
1036. Serpentine in nature, Dalamadur's extraordinarily long body is covered in numerous blade-like scales that are used for hooking into mountains as it climbs, giving the monster an extra grip as it slithers in its environment. These sharp scales can easily leave deep cuts in anything they brush against, and two highly developed blade-like scales can be found on its back. To further aid it as it twists and turns in its environment, Dalamadur has highly flexible bones with incalculable strength.
  1037.
1038. While Dalamadur's body is serpentine in nature, the monster has two massive front limbs with hook-like claws that can easily gouge the earth. It primarily uses those limbs for support while standing, climbing, and or burrowing in its mountainous environment. Like some snakes, Dalamadur has two small spurs near its tail, which are an indicator that its ancestors gradually lost their back limbs. Dalamadur also a forked tongue that can paralyze any creatures that it licks with it.
  1039.
1040. Due to its sheer size and strength, Dalamadur can easily level whole mountains and cause crustal deformation as it moves from place to place, changing the terrain and landscape of a locale. When it was first reported by the investigation team sent to Speartip Crag, they said it turned an entire mountain into a valley.
  1041.
1042. If Dalamadur's size wasn't dangerous enough, it also has two abilities that are hard to explain. The first ability is that it can seemingly summon meteorites out of the sky. These "shattered omens" are thought to be drawn by the energy that Dalamadur produces, causing them to fall out of the sky, though it's worth noting that light shines on Speartip Crag whenever Dalamadur appears there. Hunters can mine these fallen stars, and there is a mixture of substances within these omens that don't match any known materials in the world. These shattered omens are unlike anything researchers have ever seen before.
  1043.
1044. Dalamadur's second ability is a mysterious element that it produces inside of its body. Dalamadur doesn't use any of the known ones (Fire, Water, Thunder, Ice, Dragon), rather it uses something else entirely. There is no name for the element that Dalamadur uses, but it has a fiery appearance. Much about Dalamadur's abilities and ecology are a complete mystery to the Guild, so much more research is needed to understand this elder dragon.
  1045.
1046. It's suspected that there are, or were, many Dalamadur around. Recently in the New World, the corpses of several were found in the Rotten Vale. It's unclear if these are abnormally large Dalamadur or some kind of ancient relative that is now extinct.

  1075.
1076. Shah Dalamadur is the "subspecies" of Dalamadur. It shares many of the same adaptations as the normal Dalamadur, but there are a few differences between the two.
  1077.
1078. Like Dalamadur, Shah Dalamadur was thought to be a mere fairy tale though that changed once its cousin was discovered. After Dalamadur was discovered, there was no doubt that this subspecies likely existed as well. Though they were once thought to exist only in legend, multiple sightings in the past few years have led many to fear Shah Dalamadur as an omen of grave things to come.
  1079.
1080. While Dalamadur is viewed as a king, Shah Dalamadur is seen as an eternal emperor, or god, in legends. Ancient civilizations saw Shah Dalamadur as a deity of death and rebirth, and they both worshipped and feared the elder dragon as such. It's said that it'll reforge the world: from blood, the sea; flesh, the land; bone, the wood. In legend, it's said that Shah Dalamadur destroys all life in the world and recreates it.
  1081.
1082. Although Shah Dalamadur is called a subspecies, it's actually the same species as Dalamadur. Shah Dalamadur is a Dalamadur that has very recently shed its skin. Before molting, a Dalamadur is relatively calm and not very aggressive, but this isn't the case for Shah Dalamadur. Shah Dalamadur is far more aggressive than Dalamadur due to it being in a sort of defenseless state after molting.
  1083.
1084. After molting, Shah Dalamadur has no control over its metabolism, meaning that its body temperature will constantly change. Its hide can repel most attacks while a part of its body is cold, but its hide is more vulnerable to attacks while it's heated up. Although it's weaker to attacks while its body is heated up, it also gains a new ability. By either biting with its jaws or swiping its claws while they're hot and its metabolism is well-balanced, Shah Dalamadur can greatly heat up the ground and severely burn enemies alive.
  1085.
1086. While an individual is a Shah Dalamadur, it's considered to be one of the strongest monsters in the series. Shah Dalamadur's hide will harden over time, and it'll eventually become a normal Dalamadur once again as its metabolism stabilizes. Interestingly, there are multiple depictions about Shah Dalamadur's color in some old documents. Currently, these depictions are under investigation by some organizations.

  1104. Average Height: 622.1cm
  1105. Foot Measurements: 264cm

  1108. Suborder: Wyvern Feet
  1109. Infraorder: Blade Scale Wyvern
  1110. Superfamily: Flying Wyvern
  1111. Family: Regios
  1112.
  1113. Habitats: Remote Areas
  1114.
1115. A species that has been known by the Hunter's Guild for a long time, Seregios is a flying wyvern that has rarely ever been seen. Usually found in remote areas where few can encounter them, there have been very few sightings of them in the past until recently. Now Seregios have been found living in the Dunes, Ancestral Steppe, Everwood, Primal Forest, Sunken Hollow, Frozen Seaway, Volcanic Hollow, Heaven's Mount, Sanctuary, and Desert. Some of them have also been reported attacking the Battlequarters and traversing the Great Sea.
  1116.
1117. Large flocks of Seregios have started to appear throughout the Old World because many of them were spooked out of their original habitat by an abnormally large Seregios that became an Apex Monster, causing these weaker individuals to seek shelter wherever they could.
  1118.
1119. Seregios are highly territorial. There is limited space in the remote areas they inhabit, so they are constantly fighting each other for better territories in their original habitat. The stronger individuals live in higher altitudes, while the weaker ones live in lower altitudes. By living higher up, the stronger Seregios have larger, more expansive territories with more abundant prey. The weaker ones have smaller territories with fewer prey items since their range is more limited compared to the stronger individuals.
  1120.
1121. Since many of them, both weak and strong, were forced out of their old habitat by the Apex Seregios, these individuals are now forced to live in unfamiliar lands and have to fight other large monsters to gain better turfs. Their sudden invasion in various parts of the Old World has caused these flying wyverns to fight and compete with other large monsters for the same resources. One of Seregios's competitors is Rathalos, the King of the Skies.
  1122.
1123. Seregios is considered to be Rathalos's rival and for good reason. Like Rathalos, Seregios has amazing flying abilities with the help of its well-developed wings. Seregios can fly so efficiently with the help of its environment. By using wind currents and updrafts in its habitat, Seregios can stay in the air for longer periods of time as well as fly better. The better a Seregios can fly, the more expansive its territory is and the stronger the individual. While it's an amazing flier like Rathalos, it's also quite fast on land. Like some other flying wyverns, Seregios is a quadruped and uses those claws founds on its wings to dash towards prey though it primarily uses them to control its movements as it flies.
  1124.
1125. Seregios's X-shaped, zygodactyly feet are unlike any seen before. Ending in four deadly talons that are capable of shredding through armor and flesh alike, Seregios is capable of holding onto prey, which also includes other flying wyverns, within these talons. The shape of its feet and leg muscles give Seregios a strong grip on prey, making it nearly impossible for most creatures to escape out of its grasp. It has also been seen grasping onto other creatures and turning them into projectiles against enemies.
  1126.
1127. Seregios's most dangerous adaptation is its blade-like scales. Known to the Guild as the Thousand Blade Wyvern, Seregios's entire body is covered in specialized scales that are made of some kind of heat resistant mica, a kind of mineral. These scales are constantly growing and grow in the opposite direction, much like Alatreon's scale. By violently swinging its certain body parts (head, wings, hindlegs, and tail), Seregios can send these blade-like scales flying at enemies and prey from great distances.
  1128.
1129. Despite being made of minerals, Seregios's scales are light enough to be carried by the wind. These scales will burst (Kind of like certain pinecones exposed to fire) when they hit an object or creature, leaving scale fragments and deep gouges in prey. A Seregios's scales can cause a prey item to bleed to death, greatly weakening the victim in a short period of time. The smallest movements can cause blood to gush out of its victim's wounds, so it's best to not move too much when struck by one of its scales. The burst from these scales varies from Seregios to Seregios. The stronger an individual is, the larger that individual's scale burst is. Besides hunting, Seregios also uses those to mark rocks and corpses in its territory.
  1130.
1131. Seregios has a long blade-like horn that it rarely ever uses in combat since it primarily uses it to attract a mate. Seregios's tail is spear-like in nature, causing horrific injuries to prey with the help of its blade-like scales. To make itself look more threatening, Seregios is known to erect all of the scales on its body and its horn when it is enraged.
  1132.
1133. Seregios greatly resembles a particular species of flying wyvern known as Bazelgeuse, but both aren't closely related to each other. Seregios's ancestors split from Nargacuga's and Barioth's ancestors.

1157. Although it's hard to see, a Brachydios's body is entirely covered in slime mold. Most of it is inactive and can't be seen by the naked eye, but the slime mold on its forelegs and horn is active from a special component found in its saliva. When enraged, the component found in its saliva will spread to some other parts of its body, causing parts of Brachydios to turn yellow. The slime mold used by Brachydios usually explodes and spreads spores, but, rarely in some cases, it doesn't do that.
  1158.
1159. The slime mold that was left behind seeps into the ground and remains dormant, causing it to build up explosive power the longer it is left inactive. The slime mold will become active once again via crustal deformation or a volcanic eruption. Since this slime mold, or "Flashpoint Slime", was left dormant for so long, it has accumulated power and has become stronger than the slime normally found on a regular Brachydios. It can only be found in certain environments like the Ingle Isle or Guiding Lands.
  1160.
1161. Young Brachydios are known to gather slime mold left behind by their parents, but the explosions from the slime can seriously injure or even kill them. Some strong Brachydios are known to search for the flashpoint slime, but not many of them survive the slime's explosions. Only the largest and strongest Brachydios can use this altered slime, and these individuals are known as Raging Brachydios. A powerful variant of Brachydios with abnormally active slime, Raging Brachydios found the flashpoint slime and formed a symbiotic relationship with it.
  1162.
  1163. Old World Brachydios: Length = 1521.8cm - Height = 557.8cm - FM (Foot Measurements) = 178cm
  1164.
  1165. Old World Raging Brachydios: Length = 2130.5 - Height = 780.9cm - FM = 249cm
  1166.
  1167. New World Raging Brachydios: Length = 2282.77 - Height = ? - FM = ?
  1168.
1169. The true reason why Brachydios go looking for this slime isn't just from it being stronger than the standard slime, but because of its vibrant colors appealing to the opposite sex. Although it's risky to use this slime, the rewards make it worthwhile for the individual.
  1170.
1171. The flashpoint slime has altered Raging Brachydios's shell. From the heat of this slime, Raging Brachydio's shell is no longer blue and is now a more emerald or green color. Not only has the slime changed its color, but it has also strengthened its shell. Since the explosions its slime produces are more powerful than usual, it needed a stronger shell that could protect it from the impact. Raging Brachydios also has a special organ known as the immortal reactor. This organ explosively activates its slime, causing the slime to turn from yellow to orange to red. The immortal reactor allows Raging Brachydios to change the state of its slime at will without needing to become enraged to make it immediately explode.
  1172.
1173. Is Raging Brachydios immortal? No. Raging Brachydios is likely old, like many other powerful monsters in the series, but definitely not immortal.

  1195. Suborder: Halberd Dragon
  1196. Family: Gogma
  1197.
  1198. Habitat: Underground
  1199.
1200. Gogmazios is a species of elder dragon that has barely changed since ancient times. No legends or documents about this monster are known to exist, so much about Gogmazios remains a mystery to the Guild.
  1201.
1202. This species wasn't officially discovered until recently when one particular Gogmazios began to destroy multiple human settlements before eventually appearing in Dundorma and being slain by a group of unnamed hunters. In the past, before His Immenseness became the head of Dundorma, Dundorma's previous leader had lost the first Dragonator to this same Gogmazios long ago, when a weaponry warehouse near Dundorma was raided by that elder dragon. The Dragonator got stuck on Gogmazios's back.
  1203.
1204. For a long time, it was unknown what broke into Dundorma's warehouse and took the Dragonator until a string of sudden attacks began an unspecified amount of time later. Nearby towns and villages within the surrounding area of Dundorma were reportedly attacked by Gogmazios as it invaded their settlements, and, in one instance, it destroyed an entire village, leaving no survivors behind.
  1205.
1206. Although Gogmazios is invading human settlements, it isn't doing so randomly. The reason why Gogmazios has been attacking certain places around Dundorma is due to the elder dragon being hungry. Gogmazios feeds on sulfur, which can specifically be found in coal and gunpowder. All of the places that it attacked reported gunpowder missing after the elder dragon disappeared back into the wilderness.
  1207.
1208. Gogmazios is usually fairly calm, but it becomes extremely aggressive when it's hungry, causing the monster to invade humans settlements if it can't find enough food in the wild to sate its hunger. Gogmazios can cause a lot of destruction quite easily from its size alone, which is one of the reasons why the elder dragon wasn't discovered until recently. When it attacked, people either evacuated their homes and didn't look back, or they were killed by Gogmazios.
  1209.
1210. From it feeding on sulfur, Gogmazios is known to produce and release a black oily fluid from its body as a byproduct. Gogmazios is navy blue in color, but the oil gives the elder dragon a darker, more blackish appearance.
  1211.
1212. All sorts of objects, including a Dragonator, have been found trapped within the sticky oil on Gogmazios's body. This oil can trap nearby creatures, preventing them from escaping Gogmazios's onslaught when it attacks. Not only is the oil sticky, but it's also highly flammable in nature. Gogmazios has specialized organs in its body that produce a lot of heat to decompose and process the sulfur that it feeds on, causing the oil on its back to smoke and bubble due to its high body temperature.
  1213.
1214. When the oil reaches a high temperature, it'll ignite and explode. Since the oily substance flows throughout Gogmazios's body, it's also capable of breathing beams of oil out of its mouth that'll grow in size and heat up before eventually exploding into a fiery, explosive ring. When enraged, the oil that drops from its body will become hotter due to its body temperature further increasing, causing that substance to ignite and explode faster than usual.
  1215.
1216. Similar to Gore Magala, Gogmazios has an extra pair of limbs that it uses to support its size and weight as it walks. The two claws found on these limbs can be used to cruelly sear the ground and oil around it as it fights, but it has one more surprising use for them. Hidden within the folded membrane of its limbs are massive wings that are usually encased in hardened oil. As Gogmazios gets angrier, its body temperature will soften the substance on its wings, allowing the elder dragon to forcibly spread its wings and take flight. Due to its size, Gogmazios has to forcibly flap its tattered wings to stay airborne for extended periods of time. Although this monster rarely ever flies, it's fully capable of bombing a whole area with its oily beam while it's in the air.
  1217.
1218. Like other elder dragons, Gogmazios is rarely ever seen. After eating enough sulfur, it spends most of its time sleeping underground. It can hibernate as long as several decades or less before eventually awakening once again to feed some time later. Gogmazios's weapons are meant to reference the fact that it spends most of its time dormant.

  1244. Family: Maccao
  1245.
  1246. Habitats: J. Frontier, A. Steppe, R. Pinnacle
  1247.
1248. A species of bird wyvern that can often be found roaming around the Jurassic Frontier, these small monsters are "led" by an alpha male known as a Great Maccao.
  1249.
1250. While other raptor-like bird wyverns follow their alphas closely, the Maccao packs aren't as organized or united as their brethren are. Despite being the leader, Great Maccao barely has any control over his pack, so he's often seen roaming areas alone rather than with his pack. Although the Maccao and Great Maccao aren't very united, they can be an effective team when it comes to hunting, though the smaller Maccao will flee if they feel they're outmatched or if their leader is injured in combat.
  1251.
1252. To signify his dominance over the other Maccao, Great Maccao has decorative feathers on its head that are meant to display his strength. If he loses these feathers, his pack will stop following his orders. While his pack are rather skittish, Great Maccao is quite brave. Countless scars from previous battles can often be found on the scales of Great Maccao, and these old wounds will make his body stronger and more resilient to attacks as he ages.
  1253.
1254. The scales on its feet and hands are particularly tough. The braver a Great Maccao is, the duller and stronger its red hide will become. The red coloring on its body, especially on its underbelly, is used as a warning to threats. What sets the Maccao apart from other raptor-like bird wyverns is the fact that they rarely ever use their jaws to attack prey. Rather than delivering deadly bites to a target, a Maccao will use its highly developed legs and tail to attack prey.
  1255.
1256. A Maccao can rear back on its tail and use it to hold up its whole body like an extra limb. Several spikes can be found on a Maccao's tail, and these bird wyverns use them to provide balance, gripping the ground like claws while they use their legs to deliver deadly kicks. A Maccao can also use its tail like a springboard, launching itself towards targets as it pounces forward. If the spikes on a Maccao's tail are broken, the monster won't be able to balance itself very well.
  1257.
1258. Not only are Great Maccao's legs and tail highly developed, but he also has specialized arms that he uses for punching prey like a boxer. Great Maccao's hands are stiff and don't bend, so they're always that same spoon-like shape. Outside of fighting, Great Maccao primarily uses his front limbs for scooping up and holding onto eggs from wyvern nests. Once he has successfully stolen an egg and brought it to a secure area, he'll deliver a devastating punch to break open the egg before feeding on the yolk.

  1277. Order: Saurischia
  1278. Suborder: Bird Feet
  1279. Infraorder: Bird Wyvern
  1280. Family: Malfestio
  1281.
1282. Habitats: Jurassic Frontier, Deserted Island, Primal Forest, Ruined Pinnacle
  1283.
1284. Malfestio is an owl-like monster that can be found in the Jurassic Frontier and other foresty environments. Known for its nocturnal nature, this bird wyvern is rarely ever seen out in the open during the day.
  1285.
1286. As mentioned above, Malfestio is owl-like in nature and has many adaptations similar to owls, such as the ability to rotate and maneuver its entire head, allowing it to see and turn around better. Adorning Malfestio's body is beautiful azure-colored feathers that help the monster fly silently in the night sky, allowing it to ambush prey in the darkness without making a sound. Malfestio also is known to continually move its ears, making both ears surprisingly muscular.
  1287.
1288. Like owls, Malfestio uses the talons on its feet for capturing prey, though it also uses its wings for hunting as well. Malfestio's wings may look normal, but it has long sharp wingtalons hidden under them. From how they overlap over each other, most wouldn't notice them easily until the monster becomes enraged. These wingtalons are as hard and sharp as a sword, making them a deadly weapon for Malfestio to use against predators and prey alike.
  1289.
1290. Although mostly azure-colored feathers cover its body, these feathers gradually turn from blue to gold as they go down its body. On Malfestio's feathers and wings are golden pollen-like scales that'll burst out of its plumage when it performs certain actions or if touched. These scales cause a status known as Confusion once they're inhaled, leaving both predators and prey in a confused, hallucinogenic state for a short period of time. Malfestio is known to spread these scales around an area by flapping its wings, sending them towards enemies. When enraged, it'll release more of these scales than usual while fighting. Hunters can counter the effects of the scales by consuming a Bitterbug.
  1291.
1292. Besides using its wings for flight and spreading its pollen-like scales, the scales within its wing membrane are capable of gathering sound and emitting a strange echo pattern, allowing Malfestio to produce ultrasonic waves. Malfestio has a sleep sac inside of its body that produces a powder-like liquid. By combining its sleep agent with the sound waves that its wings generate, Malfestio produces a misty beam that can put prey into a comatose.
  1293.
1294. Due to Malfestio's appearance and abilities, it's often compared to a magician or jester from the many tricks that it tries to use in combat against hunters. Interestingly, Malfestio's materials are often used by jesters, clowns, magicians, etc. Some royals also use Malfestio's materials for clothing during royal masquerade balls, and some places are known to make Malfest Roast. Many collectors find Malfestio's feathers to be quite valuable due to its enchanting sense of flair.

  1322.
1323. Astalos is a species of flying wyvern that is known to primarily inhabit the Verdant Hills. Highly aggressive in nature, Astalos is well known for its violent temper and shocking abilities. Although Astalos is a flying wyvern, it has many features throughout its body that are quite similar to insects in appearance. Some have also compared Astalos's appearance to Seregios, but both flying wyverns aren't closely related to each other.
  1324.
1325. Adorning its body is a spiny shell covered in hard and sharp spines, which are capable of injuring predators and prey alike, as well as flexible scales that can reflect sunlight, giving them a rainbow-like appearance.
  1326.
1327. Its wings have a unique membrane that people can see through like glass. Although Astalos's wing membrane may be thin, it's surprisingly tough likely due to this flying wyvern's violent nature. Like some other flying wyverns, it has wingtalons on its wings, but, unlike most of its kind, Astalos uses them for attacking, subduing, and killing prey. Its crest and scissor-like tail are also used for these purposes as well, but it has a weapon to make its attacks stronger.
  1328.
1329. Astalos is known as the "Thunder Wyvern," or "Lightning Rebel" by some, due to its ability to manipulate the thunder element. Astalos's entire body (Head, wings, and tail) is an organ used for generating electricity, and each part produces an electrical charge in unique ways. By violently shaking its wing membrane, Astalos is able to produce electricity in its wings and store that electrical energy within certain parts such as its wingtalons.
  1330.
1331. As the crest on its head stores electricity, grooves within that part will open up as it rapidly moves the muscle tissue within the crest to generate an electrical charge. By violently moving its scissor-like tail, Astalos is capable of storing electricity within that part of its body. Each of its parts charges up with electricity independently from one another, so Astalos isn't limited in combat at all times.
  1332.
1333. As its parts are charged up, they'll glow green and slightly change in shape. The more charged up an Astalos is, the deadlier and more dangerous its attacks become, and the more vulnerable the monster becomes to attacks. If a part takes too much damage, it'll lose the charge. By using electricity, Astalos has an effective weapon that can be used for capturing and killing prey. This flying wyvern is an omnivore that primarily feeds on lesser creatures like Vespoid, Velociprey, and Velocidrome. When hunting for Vespoid and other neopterons, Astalos is capable of producing a unique electrical charge with its wings to kill large swarms of them in an area at once before feeding on their fallen corpses.
  1334.
1335. Astalos is an extremely territorial monster that'll attack every other creature it encounters on sight. Known for its brutality, Astalos will usually strike first before its opponent gets a chance to. Astalos needs to be aggressive and violent due to the environments it inhabits.
  1336.
1337. Although Astalos easily asserts itself at the top of the food chain, it has to face off against monsters that are larger than itself, particularly Rathalos and Rathian. Although it's considered to be Rathalos's rival, the Raths are physically larger and stronger than Astalos. These flying wyverns are constantly competing with each other for the same resources. Astalos may not be as physically strong as the Raths, but its elemental abilities and other adaptations it has make up for that weakness.
  1338.
1339. Often when an Astalos, particularly a male one (All the Astalos in-game are male), appears in a locale, it'll disrupt and destroy the local ecosystem due to its aggressive nature. Its electrical powers have reportedly changed the shape of rock formations in some environments.
  1340.
1341. Unlike the Raths, Astalos don't take care of their young in any form. A female Astalos will lay about seven eggs in a rocky place before leaving her young to incubate and hatch on their own. Young Astalos feed on Hornetaur and other small creatures as they grow up, but, in some cases, they'll even cannibalize their own siblings. They'll learn to protect and care for themselves as they reach adulthood, gaining their brutal aggression and rage as they age. It's currently unknown what a female Astalos looks like, though they supposedly have a smaller crest compared to a male Astalos.

  1363. Name: Gammoth (ガムート)
  1364. Title: Giant Beast (巨獣)
  1365. Length: 2819.43cm
  1366.
  1367. Order: Proboscidea
  1368. Suborder: Scalp
  1369. Family: Gammoth
  1370.
1371. Habitats: Arctic Ridge, Frozen Seaway, Polar Field, Forlorn Arena
  1372.
1373. Considered to be the largest known fanged beast, Gammoth is a giant mammoth-like monster that can be found inhabiting tundra regions. Often called the "Giant Beast" or "Immovable Mountain God," Gammoth's size makes it a force to be reckoned with by hunters and monsters alike. Gammoth is rather lenient towards smaller monsters and ignores them for the most part, but will turn aggressive the moment it is attacked or feels threatened by another creature. Since it's so large, Gammoth has almost no predators to worry about in its environment.
  1374.
1375. For protection against both the elements in its environment and potential predators, Gammoth has thick fur and fat adorning its body. A Gammoth's pelt is very durable and cold-resistant, capable of keeping it warm and absorbing physical blows without losing its durability. The claws and fangs of most predators can't pierce through the hide of a Gammoth, and not even the jaws of Tigrex can leave a fatal wound on the body of a Gammoth due to the thick fur and fat acting as armor for the giant.
  1376.
1377. While most of Gammoth's body is covered fur, its limbs are covered in a hard shell structure that is used for attaching clumps of snow to its legs. Rather than using the snow on its legs for defense, it uses it for attacking threats. Gammoth secretes a material from its legs that hardens the snow. When it slams down one of its limbs with immense force, the snow will explode from that part and damage any nearby creatures caught within the blast. The snow has enough force to stun something as big as Giadrome. While the shell on its limbs attaches snow to its legs, the shape of its feet allows Gammoth to traverse through the snow with ease.
  1378.
1379. When facing off against a threat, Gammoth will face off against its enemy head-on. Primarily using its trunk and tusks in combat, Gammoth will use its unbelievable strength to finish off its opponents. Gammoth is relatively slow due to its immense size, yet its physical strength is almost unrivaled. Gammoth is known to use its hardened tusk to uplift and encase its enemies in snow, preventing them from escaping its unyielding wrath in combat.
  1380.
1381. Like elephants, its trunk has various uses. Gammoth has been seen sucking up snow in its trunk before standing up and encasing its limbs in the snow before it continues fighting. It has also been seen firing snowballs out of its trunk and blowing gusts of wind at enemies with its trunk. Under its trunk are specialized spines that can easily break through solid ice. With the help of these spines, Gammoth can pick up and throw objects with its trunk. Gammoth is strong enough to lift up and throw large flying wyverns with its trunk, and it has even been seen violently grabbing hunters and slamming them down on the ground several times with that appendage as it fights.
  1382.
1383. Outside of using the trunk for attacking predators, Gammoth mainly uses it as a tool for searching for food under the snow as well as to detect vibrations. Gammoth is a herbivore that feeds on vegetation such as grass, nuts, fruit, and wood hidden in its environment. Gammoth is nomadic in nature, constantly moving from one frozen wasteland to another as it searches for food. Since it can be hard to find food in the climates it inhabits, it'll sometimes invade settlements and destroy villages to feed on the wood that the homes are made of. A Gammoth is unpredictable while it's hungry due to its heightened aggression, so hunters are sometimes sent in to hunt down the behemoth during harsh cold months.
  1384.
1385. Gammoth are solitary in nature, but they've sometimes been seen walking among Popo herds. Female Gammoth (All Gammoth encountered in-game are female) are known to sometimes join up with herds of Popo when they have young to protect. While an adult Gammoth has little to fear, a young one is vulnerable to all sorts of predators, particularly Tigrex. A mother Gammoth has a strong bond with her baby and will protect her young with her life.
  1386.
1387. A baby Gammoth will stay under its mother's body for protection, but it'll flee and lay down on the snow to hide itself from predators while its mother is faced with a threat. While young, a Gammoth's fur is pure white in color, allowing it to blend into the snow as it hides. Like Popo, young Gammoth are often preyed upon by Tigrex. To further protect her baby from this flying wyvern, a mother Gammoth will sometimes join a Popo herd to increase the chances of her young's survival.
  1388.
1389. With a Gammoth around, the Popo herd has more protection against predators, and, since there are more targets to choose from in a herd, the Gammoth's young has less of a chance of being preyed upon by a predator like Tigrex. At first, a Gammoth fears Tigrex, but that changes as the individual ages and grows larger. That fear towards Tigrex eventually turns into utter rage, making it into the fearsome giant that it is known as. The more afraid of Tigrex a young Gammoth is, the stronger it'll become.

  1409. Name: Glavenus (ディノバルド)
  1410. Title: Cutting Wyvern (斬竜)
  1411. Length: 2461.5cm
  1412.
  1413. Order: Saurischia
  1414. Suborder: Theropoda
  1415. Superfamily: Tail Blade Wyvern
  1416. Family: Glavenus
  1417.
1418. Habitats: Jungle, Jurassic Frontier, Volcano, Volcanic Hollow, Ingle Isle, Dunes, Desert, Forlorn Arena
  1419.
1420. Considered to be one of the strongest and smartest species of brute wyverns around, Glavenus is a carnotaurus-like brute wyvern that can be found in both foresty environments as well as hot arid ones. Often called the "Cutting Wyvern" or "Scorching Blade" by the public, Glavenus is a fascinating member of the brute wyvern classification because of the fact that it primarily uses its distinctive blade-like tail in combat.
  1421.
1422. While a majority of Glavenus's body is red, its long tail is blue in color due to Glavenus adhering fine ore to that part of its body to create its sharp and heavy blade. Like a Great Sword user, Glavenus can deal a lot of damage to predators and prey with its blade. Glavenus's blade-like tail can slice through prey with ease, but it can further increase the killing power of that part by rubbing it on the ground. The ore it uses is highly flammable, so its blade-like tail will gradually heat up as it swings it around in combat.
  1423.
1424. Glavenus's tail is normally hard while it's blue, making it difficult to cut off, but it becomes soft when it is heated up. While its tail is heated, Glavenus can easily slice through foes like butter with its thousand-degree cleaver. As a Glavenus uses its tail more and more, especially while it is heated up, the blade will rust and change color. While rusted, its blade-like tail is dull and doesn't deal much damage. When its blade dulls, Glavenus is known to do something unexpected.
  1425.
1426. On Glavenus's mouth are four sharp fangs that it uses for sharpening its blade-like tail. Glavenus will bite onto its own tail, producing sparks due to friction between its jaws and tail, to sharpen and refine its blade on the fly. A large marking can be found on the tail, indicating what part of the tail the Glavenus often grabs to sharpen it. To protect its eyes from sparks as it sharpens its tail, Glavenus has hard shelling covering its face.
  1427.
1428. After Glavenus's heated blade-like tail cools down, soot is left behind on that part, and, as Glavenus scrapes its jaws against its blade, it'll swallow the leftover soot on its blade. The ingested soot is then contained within an organ in its throat called the "flaming bursa." This furnace-like organ will boil the soot and turn it into magma, allowing Glavenus to store fire within its throat and breathe massive pools of magma at its enemies.
  1429.
1430. Glavenus can keep these flames trapped within the flaming bursa indefinitely, but the organ will violently explode if its head is severely damaged, releasing those flames and stunning Glavenus. While that organ is being used, Glavenus's already powerful bites are further enhanced by the fire element. Due to it sharpening its fangs on its tail, they have become razor sharp weapons that can withstand Glavenus's pressure.
  1431.
1432. Compared to most brute wyverns, Glavenus is quite agile for its size. Glavenus has strong muscular legs that allow it to leap up into the air before slamming down its tail with immense force. On the back of its legs are two hoove-like claws used to support its weight as it lands.
  1433.
1434. Glavenus is a highly territorial monster that often gets into fights with its own kind and other monsters such as Uragaan and Gravios. As mentioned above, Glavenus adheres ore to its tail to create its blade, but it also needs that ore to keep the blade well-maintained. Glavenus (All Glavenus in-game are male) makes its territory within areas that have high-quality ore, which is the reason why the monster's tail is blue. While it uses its fangs to sharpen its tail, it also often sharpens its tail on the ore.
  1435.
1436. Glavenus compete with each other for better territories filled with ore, and these fights often lead to one of them losing their blade-like tail or dying in combat. A Glavenus also has to keep its turf safe from mineral-eating monsters since that ore is so important to it. It's also worth noting that when the first research team was sent to investigate the Jurassic Frontier, their camp was attacked and destroyed by a Glavenus, which led to the Wycademy building another base camp in a safer location.
  1437.
1438. Predatory in nature, Glavenus preys upon lesser species to sate its hunger and is known to ruthlessly pursue its victims. If faced with another large monster, Glavenus will stand its ground and welcome the challenge. Some blue ore covers parts of its shell, granting the monster added protection against attacks. Combined with its scales, Glavenus's shell has a high resistance against heat and is capable of deflecting most blows as well.
  1439.
1440. The constant heating and cooling of its blade-like tail have forged a fine blade that can easily cut through most other swords. When enraged, Glavenus's body temperature will greatly increase, causing some parts of its body to glow red in color from the sudden increase in heat.

  1464. Name: Nakarkos (オストガロア)
  1465. Title: Corpse Dragon (骸龍)
  1466. Length: 3547.57cm
  1467.
  1468. Order: Elder Dragon
  1469. Suborder: Corpse Dragon
  1470. Family: Nakarkos
  1471.
  1472. Habitats: Ocean, Wyvern's End
  1473.
1474. Nakarkos is a mysterious "two-headed" elder dragon that has long been rumored by hunters around various locales such as the Schrade Region and Jurassic Frontier. This monster wasn't officially discovered until recently. Known as the "Corpse Dragon" or "Hellfire Star" by some, Nakarkos has a peculiar appearance that makes it look like an undead being, which is one of the reasons why many doubted it even existed. This elder dragon has been reported in multiple places from it wandering through expansive oceans, seas, and coastlines in search of prey. Predatory in nature, Nakarkos is known to primarily feed upon medium-sized prey, particularly leviathans.
  1475.
1476. Nakarkos secretes a radiant blue mucus from its "heads" that it uses to attract fish to its location, and any unwary leviathans drawn in by the fish will be captured and killed by Nakarkos before it immediately drags them back to its lair to be consumed. In some cases, it'll attract a large leviathan, or even a Ceadeus pup, with the fish. Nakarkos will engage in intense fights against larger prey items as it attempts to kill and prey upon whatever colossal creature it may encounter while hunting.
  1477.
1478. Nakarkos's diet isn't limited to seafaring creatures. It also has been seen preying upon flying monsters such Rathalos as well as other large monsters like Uragaan, Brachydios, and Glavenus. Besides feeding on monsters, Nakarkos even preys upon humans.
  1479.
1480. Nakarkos has brought down many airships in the past, and recently one individual devoured all inhabitants within a village in a single night. For a long time, flying monsters and airships would mysteriously disappear in a certain part of the Jurassic Frontier. It was unknown to the Wycademy what was causing those disappearances until they discovered Nakarkos years later.
  1481.
1482. Nakarkos's lair, at least the one in the Jurassic Frontier, is known as the "Wyvern's End". Found in the far back of the Jurassic Frontier, this underground lair connects to the open sea and allows Nakarkos to freely move from its home to its hunting grounds with ease. An innumerable number of bones litter the floors and walls of Nakarkos's lair. These bones belong to all of the creatures that Nakarkos has previously fed on as well as creatures that have mistakenly wandered into the Wyvern's End.
  1483.
1484. Nakarkos's presence in an area can easily affect the balance of a nearby ecosystem due to its sheer hunger alone. Nakarkos will prey upon all other creatures it encounters in the surrounding environment, especially if it was repelled or forced out of its territory. When an unnamed hunter repelled a Nakarkos, the elder dragon left the Wyvern's End for some time before eventually returning to its lair. During that time, the monster became more actively aggressive and began to attack various places more frequently as it searched for food.
  1485.
1486. Although Nakarkos was originally rumored to be a "two-headed monster" until it finally revealed its true face. Much like Yama Tsukami, Nakarkos is cephalopod-like in nature and greatly resembles a cuttlefish/squid. The "two heads" often seen are actually its tentacles. Nakarkos's back is exposed most of the time while its head remains hidden. Nakarkos only exposes its head when it's trying to devour or scare prey.
  1487.
1488. Nakarkos's body is relatively soft, so it covers itself in the bones of its prey for protection. While Nakarkos is capable of smashing bone with its jaws, it usually never eats the ones that litter its territory since it uses them as armor and weaponry against other creatures.
  1489.
1490. The mucus that Nakarkos produces prevents the bones on its body from corroding and collapsing on each other as well as sticks them together to create this elder dragon's bony armor. It'll also modify some of the bones it uses to fit its own needs. Nakarkos usually covers the ends of its tentacles in the skulls of fallen monsters, but it'll occasionally use certain monster parts combined with other materials found within its lair to create unique weaponry for itself. Some parts that it has been seen using is a fused together Glavenus jaw and tail, a Lagiacrus's shell shockers combined with voltstones, a Brachydios's pounders, and an Uragaan's chin.
  1491.
1492. Besides using the mucus for attracting prey and as an adhesive for the bones, Nakarkos also uses the mucus for capturing prey. It can fire streams of sticky mucus out of the ends of its tentacles and unleash globs of it from blowholes located on its back, entangling its victims.
  1493.
1494. When all of its other weapons fail, Nakarkos will begin to use the dragon element against its prey. It's unknown how it is able to use the dragon element, but it's believed that it naturally produces the element in its body. Since the element is so mysterious, it's hard to say. It seems Nakarkos begins to use the dragon element when it feels its life is in danger or when it really wants prey upon whatever it is fighting. The dragon energy will slowly build up in its mouth and, if enough has built up there, it'll unleash a devasting beam at its prey. Nakarkos is also known to unleash this beam when it dies, causing all of the bones in its lair to collapse to the ground. The environment also changes dramatically when it dies.
  1495.
1496. When enraged, the blue glowing markings on its body will turn red in color, and it'll release more mucus into the water than usual. Plankton found within the Wyvern's End will begin to glow due to the mucus that Nakarkos is releasing, producing an eerie glow throughout the area. Like a cuttlefish, Nakarkos has a cuttlebone and even has a rainbow-colored nacre on its back. To return to its lair quickly with its quarry, Nakarkos is capable of jet propulsion in the water like squids.
  1497.
1498. Although it could be considered gluttonous due to its insane appetite, Nakarkos is a crafty and cautious monster that uses all of its unique adaptations and intelligence effectively against prey.

  1515. Name: Valstrax (バルファルク)
1516. Title: Sky Comet Dragon (天彗龍)
  1517. Length: 2267.35cm
  1518.
  1519. Order: Elder Dragon
  1520. Suborder: Sky Comet Dragon
  1521. Family: Valstrax
  1522.
1523. Habitats: Ruined Pinnacle, All Over The World
  1524.
1525. "Beware the red comet hurling through the dark. It portends a black future where the heavens and earth shall crumble into nothing. Despair shall alight before you in the form of an argent dragon with innumerable wings. It calls upon the very stars themselves to rend the earth."
  1526.
1527. An elder dragon that was confused for a comet since days of old, Valstrax is a monster that was only ever described in some ancient legends. It is said that Valstrax appears once every few hundred or thousand years, heralded by a series of comet sightings.
  1528.
1529. Since no actual records of Valstrax existed, it was considered to be an extinct species by the Hunter's Guild and Wycademy until they started exploring the skies with the Soaratorium, leading to the elder dragon finally being discovered. Valstrax wasn't too keen on being found. There have been many sightings of Valstrax for the past few thousand years, but it was always mistaken for a red comet by eyewitnesses. This elder dragon is often nicknamed the "Argent Comet", " Silver Wings of the Evil Star", or the "Sky Comet Dragon" due to these sightings.
  1530.
1531. Valstrax has been seen flying all over the world as an argent comet, and people can sometimes see its red glow piercing the heavens. Valstrax has a wide habitat range and can be found just about anywhere, though it prefers high altitudes.
  1532.
1533. Like most elder dragons, Valstrax has wings but not the traditional kind. While other monsters flap their wings for flight, Valstrax is able to fire beams of dragon from the tips of its wings. Like birds, Valstrax has air sacs. This elder dragon breathes in air through its mouth, nostrils, and chest vents before releasing it out of its wings in the form of dragon energy. All of its breathing is done in one direction that ends with its wings, allowing for it to cool its wings efficiently as it fires dragon energy out of them as well as improved airflow throughout its body.
  1534.
1535. It seems its air sacs are used for changing the air it inhales into the dragon energy that it expels outwards from its body. When it uses too much energy, it's known to stand in place and breath in as much air as possible through its chest to refuel. The dragon energy puts a massive strain on its body and could potentially damage it internally if it doesn't maintain proper airflow as it inhales oxygen.
  1536.
1537. By firing the dragon energy out of its wings, Valstrax is capable of flying as fast as the speed of sound or Mach 1. Not only are Valstrax's wings used for highspeed flight, but it also uses them for combat. Valstrax can freely reposition the way its wings point, either turning them backward or forward while it fights. While they are pointing backward, its wings are used for flying and boosting the power of physical attacks that utilize them.
  1538.
1539. While they are forward, Valstrax can use its wings for a variety of attacks against predators and prey alike. It can fire a barrage of dragon energy out of the openings on its wings as well as slam and slash enemies with these limbs. By contracting its muscles and stretching its ligaments, Valstrax can change the shape of its wings freely and extend the tips of them, turning them into deadly lancewings that can stab prey from a distance.
  1540.
1541. Since Valstrax primarily lives in high altitudes and it often flies in the stratosphere, it has some adaptations to help it survive in such extremes. Its nostrils (Which are snorkel-like) are positioned behind its head so it can breathe efficiently, even while flying fast. Air is sent directly into its lungs through its chest vents while it's flying at high speeds as well. Its speed of sound-resistant scales are silver so it can reflect sunlight, reducing the amount of UV rays its body receives. Like a falcon, Valstrax has excellent eyesight that allows it to pinpoint its prey from the sky.
  1542.
1543. Valstrax's metabolism is extremely fast, causing parts of its shell to fall off its body as it flies. When these burnt pieces of its shell fall off of Valstrax, they are known to crash into the ground and create small craters. Most of Valstrax's destruction comes from these burnt pieces of shell crash landing into the ground as it travels from place to place, damaging villages and causing native wildlife to flee into nearby settlements, from the sudden meteor shower it causes it as flies overhead.
  1544.
1545. Like birds, Valstrax migrates to all sorts of places around the world due to it looking for dragonveins in its environment for bioenergy. It needs the energy from those veins to maintain its metabolism and the dragon reserves in its body so it can fly.
  1546.
1547. Even though Valstrax is rarely ever seen, it is considered to be dangerous to encounter one from how aggressive they are. It's known for crashing into airships, and even hunters, as it flies. While many see Valstrax as an evil omen, an ancient civilization that once lived in Ruined Pinnacle saw it as a deity or god. In ancient times, the peak (Area 9) wasn't as high as it is now, but Valstrax would go to that particular area whenever it appeared in that locale.
  1548.
1549. Valstrax appears in Ruined Pinnacle every hundred or thousand years, and the peak that it's known to nest on in that area is constantly growing due to the dragonveins there. Whenever those dragonveins are active, Valstrax will appear in Ruined Pinnacle. Over time, dragon energy builds up in that peak, creating the dragonveins seen there, causing that lone pinnacle to grow continuously. In ancient times, Valstrax's nest was at a lower altitude, and that civilization could actually see Valstrax nesting on that pinnacle.
  1550.
1551. The people were so enthralled with that monster's great powers and abilities, they ended up worshipping the "Argent Comet" that is known as Valstrax as a god, thus building ruins to honor their so-called deity. Seemingly, an altar for Valstrax can be found in Area 2, revealing its terrifying nature and legend, and it's believed that only a select few high-ranking priests could go up as far as Area 7 in Ruined Pinnacle. Written on a ruin on the side of a cliff in Area 7 is a warning to trespassers that wander that far into Ruined Pinnacle. Area 8 is considered to be a place that lacks god, meaning no protection from the Argent Comet, so beyond that point is death.
  1552.
1553. Valstrax produces a slightly warm fluid in its body that emits a red light, and its scales were once used in rituals. It's said that its claws have torn apart many unfortunate souls while its tail glows like a comet. When enraged, Valstrax will release large amounts of dragon energy from its body. Soot from the energy will darken some parts of its body due to it releasing excess energy.

  1582.
1583. In the Schrade Region, while an unnamed hunter was protecting a fortress from Lao-Shan Lung, another unidentified monster attacked a nearby fortress before suddenly disappearing as quickly as it appeared. The strangest part about this incident was that the unidentified monster took parts of the outer wall and streets, leaving nothing behind as it assaulted the fortress. The fortress guards and hunters were hot on the monster's trail, but it suddenly vanished during the pursuit.
  1584.
1585. The Hunter's Guild figured since it stole material from the fortress that it was looking to create armor for itself, but couldn't figure out how something so giant could escape without a trace. Eventually, they did discover where the monster was hiding and was surprised to learn its true identity. Rather than a giant elder dragon, a large bug monster was the creature that raided the other fortress, which is why they had a hard time finding it.
  1586.
1587. A mysterious monster that wasn't discovered until recently, Ahtal-Ka is a large mantis-like neopteron with a royal appearance. The ancient surface of her shell gives off a mysterious beauty that can't easily be rivaled.
  1588.
1589. Ahtal-Ka has sharp, sickle-like forelegs that allow her to slash at foes. Although her blades look gorgeous, they have outstanding cutting abilities. Although Ahtal-Ka uses them as weapons, she primarily uses them for manipulating her silk. Like spiders, Ahtal-Ka produces fine silk in her abdomen. Golden in color, this silk has a crystalline pattern that makes it quite valuable and has amazing tensile strength, making it a useful tool for picking up objects and attaching it to her back.
  1590.
1591. Ahtal-Ka uses her silk in various ways, often using debris in her environment as a weapon against attackers. She'll either pull an object out of the ground using her silk before attacking or drag one towards her location and attach it to her back. She often has multiple silk threads spread around her lair, and her silk is also strong enough to hold a whole fortress together. One individual apparently raised up a fallen castle's fortress from the sands with her silk overnight.
  1592.
1593. Ahtal-Ka is considered to be quite intelligent for a monster, which scares some humans, and this is further exemplified by this monster's mobile nest. Ahtal-Ka prefers to build her nest with the best possible materials she can obtain. Ahtal-Ka's kind used natural materials like rocks and trees to craft their nests in ancient times, but, as humans further developed, they began to switch to other materials.
  1594.
1595. Much like some birds, Ahtal-Ka finds that man-made material is better and stronger than the natural material found in her habitat, so she sees human structures as the best option for building the perfect nest for herself, and this is the reason why she raided the fortress. Depending on the habitat and material available, the appearance and structure of an Ahtal-Ka's mobile nest will vary from individual to individual.
  1596.
1597. As an Ahtal-Ka grows up, it'll encounter all sorts of creatures and, when mature, it'll base the appearance of its nest on powerful creatures it encountered during its youth. The one we encountered in-game based the appearance of her nest on a wyvern or dragon. The "Empress' Throne" is controlled by Ahtal-Ka herself. By sticking herself in the center of her nest, Ahtal-Ka is actually capable of fully controlling the Empress' Throne's movements with her silk before crushing foes with the giant contraption.
  1598.
1599. While in the Empress' Throne, she is practically invulnerable to all incoming attacks, but this nest has one major weakness, however. The golden silk used for controlling it can be cut, which causes her to lose control of her nest if enough of her strands are destroyed. If a large amount of the silk on the nest is cut, the Empress' Throne will topple to the ground, thus leaving it vulnerable to more attacks, and Ahtal-Ka will have to quickly produce more silk to regain control over it.
  1600.
1601. Although Ahtal-Ka can still use the Empress' Throne, she can't keep refortifying it. As long as some of her silk remains intake on the nest in combat, she can still use it, but if the Empress' Throne sustains too much damage, it'll fall apart completely. The Empress' Throne found in-game wasn't completed by Ahtal-Ka yet, and it could've been made two times larger if she was allowed to further develop it. Although it's incomplete, the Empress' Throne even dwarfs Lao-Shan Lung.
  1602.
1603. When the Empress' Throne is pulled out of the ground, a large amount of sand and silk is sent flying into the air. The strong wind currents will carry this debris into the air, causing the locale's appearance to dramatically change. When the young reach a certain age, each one of them will take a single part off their mother's mobile nest before leaving her behind to start their own lives. The taken part will be used by them on their travels.
  1604.
1605. Athal-Ka produces a fragrant liquid pheromone from her body that's scent can be detected for miles. All of the Ahtal-Ka encountered in-game are female, though it's unknown what a male Ahtal-Ka looks like.
