For those who are unaware, a TAS (or tool-assisted speedrun/superplay) is a playthrough of a video game, but using tools, enhancements and etc. typically found in video game emulators that filter out any mistakes and are capable of doing actions normal humans are unable to do. This is done to make the playthrough faster, or more entertaining than normal playthroughs.

  3. As a beginner of the TAS industry, I wanted to do a project that would help me learn the fundamentals of tool-assisted speedruns and become more experienced. I also wanted to do a project that can attract and build a community. Eventually, this idea lead me to this project right now.

The Mega Man Perfect Run TAS is a TAS project where I would complete robot master stages, but taking no damage, not missing a single time, no glitching and only using uncharged buster shots (unless the special weapons, utilites or charge are necessary to progress the stage without breaking any of the other rules). No other runs with these set of restrictions have been done in this style yet. While these restrictions might sound synonymous to Roahm Mythril's Mega Man Perfect Run videos (hence the name, perfect run), they're more closely based on and related to the Mega Man videos created by the Snupsters.

  7. I also plan to do full game playthroughs later on applying the same rules. I'm also in favor of doing Snupster% runs, (more information can be found here. That doesn't exactly mean that I will be doing the games in order, it just mainly depends on how manageable they are to TAS (for example, Mega Man 1 has a LOT of bugs and difficult optimizations, making it very unmanageable).

For this project, I'll be completing the robot master stages from the official classic Mega Man games, which includes: Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Mega Man & Bass, Mega Man V, Mega Man Wily Wars (Wily Tower) and Mega Man Powered Up. This excludes Street Fighter x Mega Man, as it's technically not an official, nor canonical Mega Man game, also worth mentioning that TAS isn't as stable with Windows games. The canon of Challenger from the Future game is a bit blurry, so whether or not I will play it will be decided in the future (no pun intended).

  12. Currently, I have decided not to do the fortress to keep it simplistic and straight forward, but this may change in the future. Terra and the Mega Man Killers on Mega Man 10 will be done, as they have a bigger role in the franchise. The intro stages, mid-stages and Sunstar is also undecided. That will also be taken care of in the future.
