Episode 1.5: The VTOL, Part 1
[07:54] * Mira_Severn is on the edge of one of the two long seating rows of the VTOL, asleep. The pilots are strewn about the surprisingly-roomy craft, each provided with a towel, a blanket, and a pillow for the long-ish ride to NERV for the debriefing on how bad they fucked this up. After an hour or two, the sun's gone down, and Mira's gone back up. With a tiny scream, she's sitting upright in the seat, looking around and grabbing her head. "I'm sorry! I'm s-...Um..." She looks around and frowns. "Oh. I...I'm sorry."
[07:55] * Morveren_Killigrew blinks her eyes open at the scream, and smiles, living her head off the pillow with a yawn. "Oy Mira. Eurgh, I've got a headache..."
[07:57] * Mira_Severn moves a few seats over and hugs her knees to her chest. "I don't think I'll be able to sleep for weeks. I don't have a right to complain though with what the rest of you had though, eh?"
[07:58] * Morveren_Killigrew shrugs "I was fine. I had my Eva, I had some booze, and I had the good book... I just wish the bliddy thing had stayed stil so I could ha'hit it more"
[07:59] <Mira_Severn> "The good book?" Mira disbelieves! "I'm surprised how many christians there are in NERV."
[08:00] * Sophie_Audette looks at morv and raises her eyebrows? "You.. a Christian?"
[08:00] * Morveren_Killigrew shrugs, pulling out an old and battered book from a pocket. "I aint exactly christian... Me Da' gave me the book, said it'd help... It kinda does. Aint a regular bible though. Variation o'the text, you might say"
[08:01] <Mira_Severn> "Variation. Okay..." She looks out the window, pulling the blanket close over her still-kinda-wet plugsuit. "There's us, and there's the Angels. That's the important part."
[08:02] <Sophie_Audette> "Except the angels are trying to kill us? some bible"
[08:02] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles "There's one less now!"
[08:04] <Mira_Severn> "Right..." Mira swallows air and stares down at herself. "What did I -do- out there...?"
[08:04] * Morveren_Killigrew shrugs "Can't rightly say. Y'showed a little gall and a lot o'spirit, and y hurt the damn thing. Not a bad showing"
[08:06] <Mira_Severn> "It felt right." She confesses. "When I was screaming and roaring and trying to kill it, it felt...like that's why I'm here, or something."
[08:08] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles "I felt a little like that... Fightin' with 04 just felt Right. I felt unstoppable, y'see. Like I wasn't just the sea... Like I was a tsunami, and the mountains were trembling before me...". At the latter phrase, her accent actually slips slightly, and she looks a little dreamy.
[08:13] * Mira_Severn smiles. "Even with Raj there, it was great. The sorta crackle when your AT Field's blicking something, feeling the bullet or the knife go into the Angel? I wish I had a cool metaphor like you." She leans a little into her. "Everyone alright?"
[08:13] * Morveren_Killigrew glances around "Well, the others are napping... What about you Soph?".
[08:14] <Sophie_Audette> "Dunno what you two are talking about, it felt pretty mundane to me. Through seeing through all those eyes gives me a headache after a while... nothing some booze cant fix through!"
[08:16] <Sophie_Audette> "The plug smells like that girl as well" She looks kinda dreamy in the same way as morveren for a second there
[08:16] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles "You said it Soph... Although, perhaps you just need your own Eva to get that feeling... Or you should spend a little time in 04! Its the...". She stops, and bites her tongue, sliding the book back into her pocket.
[08:17] <Mira_Severn> "Might just have been from...y'know, like having it be my first time piloting an Eva, but I sort of smelt blood. I mean, not really, but a litle bit." She looks back at Morv. "Can I..." She's nearly next to her at this point, leaning on the other pilot.
[08:20] * Morveren_Killigrew puts an arm on Mira's shoulder "Can y'what? Speak up. You're a fighter, girl, not some quiverin' cheel"
[08:22] * Mira_Severn blinks slowly and hugs Morveren around the waist. "Just...kinda wanna get comfy here."
[08:23] * Morveren_Killigrew chuckles, and returns the hug. "Its alright Mira. A hug can do good, I ken"
[08:24] <Mira_Severn> "Thanks." She rests herhead on her shoulder. "I wanna learn how to fight."
[08:27] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles "You could do better'n me for that. I just know how to make the Eva do what I tell it. Still, its a skill enough". She pulls out the book again, drawing a thumb across the spine, but not opening it. Up close, the leather is slightly blue tinged, and the title is faded to illegibility.
[08:27] * Sophie_Audette watches the two and smilies a bit. "Ha, I wouldn't mind spending some time in 04."
[08:28] * Morveren_Killigrew grins "I'd be glad t'have ye Soph. I've got so much stuff in me Eva I can't handle it all meself!"
[08:30] * Sophie_Audette looks both ways slyly, and leans over to Morveren. "You got the.. you know.. booze in your eva right? I wonder what getting wasted in an entry plug would be like"
[08:30] <Mira_Severn> "Guess I'll need to do some practice or something in Unit 00. Or maybe just learning how to shoot right."
[08:32] * Morveren_Killigrew grins at Sophie "I'd like to find out!". She hugs Mira round the shoulder again "Don't worry Mira, there's the sims back at base for that. Not as good as a real Eva, but great for testin' out and all. Its just bad luck this happened before you had a chance t'learn"
[08:34] * Mira_Severn shrugs. "It happened. It's something to learn from. So..." She frowns. "I don't know a lot about you two."
[08:37] * Morveren_Killigrew chuckles "Well, you'll find out. In short, I'm from cornwall, I enjoy drink, swimmin'n'surfin, and I'll offend your sensibilities if you're a prude!". The chuckle turns into a cackle. "Oh, also, I know Soph of old. We were both brats at Nerv together"
[08:40] * Mira_Severn smiles. "That sounds like fun. I'm not though, so...yeah. What about you, Sophie?"
[08:43] <Sophie_Audette> "Not alot interesting about me, don't worry~ I like booze and.. uh.. booze.. and music I guess"
[08:44] <Mira_Severn> "Ah..." Lotsa alcoholics for a team of fourteen year-olds. "Where are you from?"
[08:45] <Sophie_Audette> "Well I uh.. spent alot of time over at nerv... my whole life really.."
[08:46] <Sophie_Audette> "I was one of the first children found to be sync positive.. they took me in when I was still young. Still knew my parents, through I didn't get to see them an awful lot"
[08:46] * Morveren_Killigrew looks slightly surprised "What? So, when you weren't on the base... You were just at other bases? Didnae'ya have a home t'go to?"
[08:47] * Sophie_Audette laughs. "Aint got no home back there. Nerv is my home, or at least that was what I kept getting told"
[08:48] * Mira_Severn frowns. "That's kind of sad. I'm sorry..."
[08:48] * Morveren_Killigrew sighs "That's kinda sad, yeah... If we get some time off, y'should come and spend time in Cornwall wi'me. All of yeh, if y'like. Its a nice house, and the beach is lovely". She grins "Plus, the booze is top notch"
[08:49] <Mira_Severn> "I wouldn't mind that. I'd make the same offer if I had a home to take you to."
[08:49] * Morveren_Killigrew looks to her "You aint got a place t'go either Mira?"
[08:51] * Sophie_Audette laughs more, and collapses onto the two. "You should count yaself lucky, there was some real slavedrivers back at nerv. Dont know why they even kept me, I just spent all the time getting wasted rather then doing combat drills"
[08:52] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles, enveloping them both in a hug. "Well, never mind me'girls. I'm takin both of ye home with me, one day, and I'll teach yeh to surf"
[08:52] * Mira_Severn laughs nervously and hugs Sophie and Morv. AT THE SAME TIME. OH GOD. "Not really. My dad and I...aren't talking, let's say."
[08:54] * Morveren_Killigrew smiles at the big hug "That's sad Mira... But I guess you have your reasons. Still, seems like I'm the only one who still gets on with me family...". She sighs.
[08:55] <Mira_Severn> "Just means you totta enjoy it for the rest of us!"
[08:56] * Morveren_Killigrew cackles "Aye me pretty party. I'll do it proper, for the lotta ya!"
[08:57] <Mira_Severn> "Good. Now...I think I'm gonna try to go back to sleep. Is that alright?"
[08:58] * Morveren_Killigrew smiles, and pats her on the head. "Its fine Mira. We should all rightly be sleepin now"
[08:58] <Sophie_Audette> "Only if ya promise to come with us"
[08:59] <Mira_Severn> "Deal." Mira slips out of the hug and rests her head on Sophie's lap, looking up to ensure it's okay.
[09:00] * Sophie_Audette smilies, and soon glances over at the sleeping Josephine next to her
[09:00] <Sophie_Audette> "Cute little thing aint she"
[09:00] * Morveren_Killigrew relaxes, lying back "Prisky one, right enough. Your type?"
[09:01] * Mira_Severn closes her eyes and tries to get back to sleep.
[09:01] <Sophie_Audette> "Maybe. These kinda things take a bit of thought." She yawns. "I think we better get to sleep too anyway"
[09:02] * Morveren_Killigrew nods "Night Soph. Its good t'know y'again. Nice to have a familiar face, y'know?"
[09:03] <Sophie_Audette> "Yeah I know." She leans back and tries to wriggle into a sleeping pose. "Its good to have a familiar face for me too". She finally drifts off into unconsciousness
[09:03] * Morveren_Killigrew falls asleep, and dreams of waves... And something rising from beneath them.
