  1. Marigold looked around the apartment, settling in as she was unsure about what she now had to do. The hologram of Morri flickered back and forth, smiling sweetly as the nerd fiddled her fingers. She looked around, seeing how pleasant the whole place was as she knew that her ignorance of what she was supposed to do was beyond her. Finally deciding to break the ice, she spoke up in her meek voice.
  2.
  3. "I know she said I don't have to do anything but...well...what should I do?"
  4.
  5. "It's as she said, just be yourself. We'll collect the data as time goes on. Just need a lab rat."
  6.
  7. "But...isn't there more to it than that?" Morri shook her virtual head.
  8.
  9. "Not really. The data comes by itself, and based on the profile we got on you, everything should run its course perfectly. Be yourself and act natural as if you're not locked in a bunker for the next year." Marigold nodded, trying to make the most of it as she sat on the couch, curled up into as least space as she could take up. Sitting in silence, she began to slowly loosen up, turning on the TV as she inserted an anime DVD to enjoy. Morri smiled as Marigold finally was getting used to this new life of hers as the cycle that dictated her routine kicked back in. “Let me know if you get hungry. The kitchen is plenty stocked and food expenses are not spared”
  10.
  11. “If so…can I get a double pepperoni-mushroom pizza and a mountain dew?” The nerd asked, lying back on the couch, finally able to relax. The hologram disappeared as Marigold weighed all of the possibilities being in this bunker for the next year. She didn’t have to pay rent, didn’t have to worry about roommates bugging her, claiming she was lazy. And at all waking hours, she could do as she wanted. She could play video games. She could be a slob and make a mess. She could be as free as she wanted. ‘Who cares if I don’t get to leave’ she thought to herself, smile on her face ‘Not like I had much of a social life before this anyway’
  12.
  13. “Is something wrong Marigold? You look lost in thought.” Morri asked as she returned, a motorized serving tray bringing out a massive pizza to her request, jug of the yellow soda and various snack foods from breadsticks to potato wedges and everything else in-between. Marigold had to stop salivating over the sight of it as she remembered that she was about to start her anime marathon. “Do you need anything else right now Marigold?”
  14.
  15. “Nah. I’m gulp good for nowsh!” Marigold said, her cheeks bulging with cheesy goodness as she grabbed a swig of soda to wash down the mammoth slice. It seemed that whatever was in the food made it more appealing than anything she could get at a Pizza Hut or Dominos as she chomped, chewed, and chugged.
  16.
  17. “Alright. I need to report to other events in the lab. If you need me for anything, just call my name. If you want more food, feel free to use the kitchen or use the tablet to place an order and it will be served to you.” Morri bowed with courtesy as she phased out, leaving Marigold to her devices as she continued to pig out while watching her anime. It didn’t take too long for her to polish off the entire tray of pizza products as she licked her lips, fingers covered in sauce as she didn’t know what to do.
  18.
  19. “Shoot. I’m still kinda hungry. And I got a lot more show to watch.” Marigold said, not knowing what time it was as she called up the service tablet sitting on the coffee table. Thinking about it, she decided to get another round of pizzas with some extra pastas and bread with additional sodas. Entranced by the multi-colored images on the monitor, she grazed away her time as she slowly grew into her horrible habits.
  20.
  21. It was hard to tell if she was eating out of boredom or eating because she truly was hungry, but Marigold was truly putting it away. Hours passed on and countless snacks and meals found their way into her stomach as she was through her first series of anime before finding another show to watch. Heaving herself up from the couch, Marigold was truly oblivious to the softer jelly roll that was stretching out the waistline of her pants or how her already juicy chest was sagging a bit more in the confines of her bra. Instead, the one thing Marigold took note of was that as she stood up, her gut churned, expelling gas in a FRRTTT as she blushed; which was following by a little DING.
  22.
  23. "Umm...Morri?" The digital construct of the AI appeared before her. "What was that bell?"
  24.
  25. "Oh, we forgot to mention that didn't we?" She said, smiling innocently. "While we said we'd collect data as it comes up, we did not entail that once a set of data is collected, a notification is sent to my data banks."
  26.
  27. "So, in other words, I'll be hearing that when I contribute to the cause?"
  28.
  29. "More or less, yeah. It might be distracting from time to time but you'll get used to it." Marigold nodded as she wondered what exactly she did that made the buzzer go off. Still only a few hours into the experiment, she bit her tongue and smiled. "Anything else?"
  30.
  31. "No. Just was going to watch another season. These snacks...can't stop eating them." She mentioned, wrist deep in a bag of chips as Morri nodded, not wanting to spoil the surprise that was with the food as she excused herself. Marigold paid no mind to it, ordering another round of snack cakes and processed food to gobble up as a lengthier series came on. Occasionally, she heard the buzzer go off with a DING here and a DING DING there, assuming the double chime was indicator that she did something more than once. As Morri said, she truly did get used to the ringing of the bell at the end of the first day; taking on the role of the seconds ticking by on a clock rather than a persistent annoyance.
  32.
  33. "Urrrppp-DING," Marigold let out as she guzzled down another bottle of cola, trying to recount just how much she had consumed that day alone. Troubling thoughts dissipated when she hit the mattress, finding it to be softer than she could imagine as she was lulled to sleep. 'Wonder what I should do tomorrow?' She thought to herself as she was out like a light. The next few days were a mixture of killing time with a snack here and there and pouring an unprecedented amount of hours into her World of Warcraft accounts. Marigold did find something odd though as there were instances where she'd be doing her own activity and the serving unit would bring her tall milkshakes or boxes of pocky.
  34.
  35. "Oh that? Its more of a memory system as the mechanism is designed to synch up with your routine. We use it a lot here."
  36.
  37. "Why?" Marigold asked Morri, chomping down on her seventh double cheese burgeer in the hour, her face already spouting a double chin.
  38.
  39. "A lot of the engineers we have here forget to do things...like bathe and eat. So it helps them when they're absorbed into a work project. Last thing we want is any of them wasting away." Marigold bobbed her head as if she was listening, focused more on the game cartridge illustrating 64-bit goodness on the television screen, a set of DINGS going off as Morri sighed "I knew you were a pig but you've already made a mess of the place. Couldn't you do more to keep things cleaner?"
  40.
  41. "Hmm?" Marigold perked up, not hearing the last part, cheeseburger number 8 stuffed in her mouth with 9 soon on the way.
  42.
  43. "Nevermind." Morri disappeared once more to leave Marigold to her own devices as the mess that she built for herself was a near mirror image of what she left her apartment looking like. She lived in bliss, unaware of her bad habits; such as letting her laundry pile up to the point she caught herself some days wearing an oddly snug pair of panties and bra as they were too tight on her. However, she continued to ignore the painfully obvious as she would resort to either wearing out her soiled linens or making the automated services do it for her. After all, they were there to serve her, no?
  44.
  45. "I'm running out of dishes too. Can you guys clean this place up some?" Marigold asked, sweaty socked feet propped up on a table as she watched the robotic maids clean her pig sty, letting a cheek up as she let a FRRRTTT ring out along with a set of DINGS. "I really need to ask what it is they are recording." Marigold said sheepishly to herself, digging into her fifth ramen bowl for the day as she had nothing else to do for the time being.
  46.
  47. Time ticked on along with the buzzer system, inching away day by day as Marigold grew more sendentary than before. Some days she simply laid in bed, playing on her DS while chomping away at anything she could get her hands on. Others, she glued her sweaty ass cheeks to the leather chair, hammering out hours worth of time into her online video games. Her demands were getting a bit too much as the automated services essentially quit after realizing that Marigold's gluttony and laziness was not doing them any good, especially when she would create even bigger messes for them to clean up without any sort of consideration for the hard work. Mending ripped clothing, washing countless dishes, and keeping the bunker clean was not easy work but Marigold was too absorbed in her own world that her tendancies got the worse of her. Not that she minded. In fact, she hadn't noticed that the living room and bedroom was a pig sty with heaps of garbage she had to wade through near cankle deep.
  48.
  49. Only place that she rarely went into was the bathroom as it was there for a few minutes a day she went to do basic things like shave or use the toilet. It didn't dawn on her that the shower was meant to be used as opposed to being a placeholder or that, for whatever reason, the designers of this apartment didn't bother putting in a mirror for her. Instead, her electric razor whirred, getting anything that wasn't needed as she couldn't look to see how immense she had grown.
  50.
  51. Though her ignorance wouldn't continue forever. A month into the experiment, Marigold was perched at her computer, hammering away with some difficulty as she assumed that the keyboard was being worn out from over usage but a strange sound interupted her, a loud DING echoing as she cut one loose. It sounded like fabric slowing tearing itself apart. She shrugged and continued on, assuming she was hearing things. It wasn't until she swallowed her ninth boxed oreoes when she heard a full fledged RRRIPPPPP ring through the house, a wet FFRRRTTTT rippling through her immense cheeks as she blushed; feeling the breeze on them.
