Mermaid

I'll give you oceans in the depths of wrists,
a pounding pulse in the tropics of veins,
sand wet and tidal, ebbing to the push
and pull of valves inside your coral heart.
I willingly drown, ready to decipher
each grain of salt residing in your arteries,
seeking pearl sweat and wrecked ships, to the slip
of shoulders' bare; daring a lightning bolt
to glow as brightly as your body in the dark.
I've never known such light, such surf, such tides
as those your eyes invoke; carnivorous
green and far too beautiful to encroach,
but there I go, searching the shores for shells
