  26.
  27. 3. PRIORITY DISCUSSION ON NCO NET:
  28.
  29. Influential Leaders; Take a minute and think about a leader whose personal example inspired you. What is it about them that influenced you and how did it help shape the leader that you have become today? If you are like me, reading these stories will evoke in you a desire to lead in a way that is worthy of a story yet to be told. (http://go.usa.gov/XxM) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1592394&lang=en-US
  30.
  31. 4. NEW DISCUSSIONS/RFI's ON NCO NET:
  32.
  33. a. Well; As a former Army mechanic and H8 recovery specialist, I can tell you hands down that I would not have allowed this recovery operation to proceed in the manner in which it did. It looks as if they were successful, so kudos for that. Unfortunately, that is where the kudos end. The pretty much broke every safety rule that was available to be broken, and that LTC is lucky somebody wasn't injured or killed. The vehicle was definitely worth recovering, but the operation was not worth the possible consequences of the unsafe manner in which it was carried out. Can you imagine telling a grieving mother that her son drowned because nobody was bright enough to tie him off? Good job guys, but let's try a little common sense next time. (http://go.usa.gov/Xs7) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1598613&lang=en-US
  34.
  35. b. Lack of enforcement by US Government; This is nice information, but it is worthless if the government does not take care of service members and enforce it....or even worse, allow foreign governments to copy our identifications. The main example of lack of USG and in particular State Department failure to take care of service members it the blatant turning of backs to foreign countries such as Qatar who will not let us enter into the country without us surrendering a copy of our deployment orders and our ID cards for them to copy and keep. I brought this up several times to the chain of command and no one said anything about it. The only concern was that I would make an international incident out of failing to give them my orders, my ID card and let them photograph me as I entered or departed the country. An absolute shame. (http://go.usa.gov/Xso) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1599009&lang=en-US
  36.
  37. c. Counseling; I really need an input on counseling. I have been counseling for a while now but sometimes it reaches a point where it becomes repetitive. My question is, can one use Event-Oriented counseling for the entire month? Why / Why not? I was asked recently to give a Soldier unsatisfactory counseling for being late twice within a month. Bear in mind, I gave that Soldier a counseling and corrective training when that incident happened. My question is why should lateness over shadow the good work he/she has done. When can one counsel E-5 and above with counseling Form DA 4856? Thanks (http://go.usa.gov/Xss) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1599126&lang=en-US
  38.
  39. d. Has your KiT let you down, or made you unstoppable? I have created a forum for insight into what KiT is being used successfully overseas. I am preparing to go back to Afghanistan and made this site for all the guys in my unit. Please drop a post if you have a piece of KiT that has made the difference b/w success or failure, or if its just handy to have. (http://go.usa.gov/XsH) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1599140&lang=en-US
  40.
  41. e. Physical Fitness Training; Is anyone in the Army Reserve Conducting Regularly Scheduled PT 5 days a week? I ask because, since I left the NCO Academy and went out to the TPU world it seems to be the norm to restrict PT to 1 hour a day three days a week. I recognize that AR 350-1 says "Active component units, individuals, and Reserve Component Soldiers on active duty will conduct regularly scheduled (at least three times per week for one hour), vigorous physical fitness training during the unit's normal duty day as determined by the commander." Again, this is the minimum but, from my observations in the two Sustainment Commands I've been in, thus far, it's imposed as the maximum. I'm curious as to whether this is a USAR wide policy or something outside the norm. I would think allowing 5 days a week would be more in order. (http://go.usa.gov/XsF) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1599672&lang=en-US
  42.
  43. f. TLP AND OPORD; Can anyone tell me if it’s necessary to do an TLP/OPORD for a mission that is conducted every other month to the same location, same route, same check points and all the same vehicles and same drivers. I informed my commander that a convoy brief is sufficient with all check points, route, battle drills, MEDEVAC procedures, rest stops, actions on contact. The convoy will take place at a low risk area and not in the middle east. Any input and thoughts will be great. (http://go.usa.gov/XsL) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1600068&lang=en-US
  44.
  45. g. Component List for Repair Kit Music; Does anyone out there have a component list for a Repair Kit Music LIN R74613. I have checked LOGSA and ETM for the checklist. Thanks for your support! (http://go.usa.gov/XsM) https://forums.army.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=1599559&lang=en-US

  63. 6. ARMY ENTERPRISE EMAIL MIGRATION; HOW IT WILL AFFECT ARMY PROFESSIONAL FORUMS. As announced by AKO, during 2011 Army email users will transition to an Enterprise Email service managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency. This migration will involve a change in everyone's army.mil e-mail address. Although when your address changes you will continue to receive e-mail addressed to your old address for at least a year, it's recommended you advise friends and coworkers to begin using the new e-mail address within that time period. This change of e-mail address (if you don't update your address on NCO NET) will eventually affect your ability to log on to NCO NET, and to receive NCO NET newsletter like this one. An announcement has been placed on the front page of NCO NET that provides a direct link to your profile, and encourages you to update your profile when you receive your new e-mail address. Just as a reminder, you must use your AKO/Enterprise military e-mail address for Army Professional Forums. Visit the following link on AKO for more information on the Enterprise Email Migration.
