  3. Given the overall supremacy of EU law, international regulation, and human rights treaties could this election end up meaning less than is advertised? When the vote is purely an emotional one, or when the appeal is set up as being so, the mindset can seem uncrackable, zealous; closed off from the get go. The emotional pull is stronger so much so that the urge to be rational is dispensed in favour of arguments or facts however reasonable or spurious, to the extent where emotional investment in the cause being called into question could be seen as an affront to the other party, a ‘questioning of their intelligence’ and therefore a personal attack when that is not the intention. More often than not the debate is then shutdown. It, or that example, is unbreakable in a one on one discussion or larger debate.
