  6. The forests surrounding Palais Lane in Kalos are well-known to those in the area to have some of the most interesting distribution of wild Pokemon in the region. Due to the route's close proximity to the Pokemon Daycare, many Pokemon not native to Kalos end up roaming wild in the area. Despite efforts of both the local government and Daycare staff to limit the release of foreign Pokemon, now and again a hatchling would find its way out of the premises and into the insurmountably thick brush of Route 6.
  7. Oftentimes, Pokemon native to the area would get in minor scuffles with newcomers who managed to fight their way to a natural hierarchy on account of being bred for their power. This, in turn, was one of the major reasons an attempt was made to keep the populations separate, as it was feared the foreign mixed-bag population would take over the route and disrupt the ecology of the area. However, the number of Daycare escapees was limited enough that it never proved to be a major problem, and in the end no action was taken one way or another.
  8. As they fought, though, so too did interspecies mating occur. When most Pokemon came into season, it was only natural that some natives found themselves exotic mates – even if outside of their own egg group – for the sole purpose of relieving the pheromone-driven frenzy which built up inside them during the springtime. Amongst the more powerful, daring Pokemon in the woods, some would even forgo more common mating rituals and simply snatch up a mate all their own.

  11. In a rare display of an alpha female in the wild, a female Serperior had managed to dominate her competition and secure her own position as matriarch of the forest. Although she was largely unable to coax any Pokemon to become her subordinates, she was generally respected and most who dwelled in the forest knew better than to start trouble with her. As a consequence, though, the others feared her, and rarely did they interact with her of their own accord. Thus, when another winter gave way to mating season, she was left desperate and alone while the other Pokemon around her all 'enjoyed' each others' company. Try as she might to hold her composure, the heat that burned on her underside visibly pained her at times; being without a mate at this time of year was suffering for any female unlucky enough to be so troubled. She decided to herself that she would need to take matters into her own care and catch one for herself.
  12. Coiled up around a high tree branch, Serperior laid herself still, camouflaging herself as best she could against the forest's thick canopy, which only let a dim filter of light shine through the area. Several Pokemon she deemed unsuitable mates – a noxious-smelling Gloom, a Nincada which was far too small to be interesting in the slightest, and an anatomically-dubious Honedge were the first and only to catch her eye for quite some time, and she dreaded that perhaps a suitable mate didn't even exist in the area. Just as she contemplated giving up her search and remaining restless another day, though, an opportunity presented itself at last.
  13. A young Furret poked its head out from behind a tree trunk and scanned the area for anything of interest. Seeing nothing else that would be able to entertain it, it selected a pile of dead leaves to dive into and frolic in. Serperior once again doubted that this would work out for her after all, but with the tree branch grazing against her most sensitive area, she opted to settle given the lack of choice she'd been graced with prior. A cursory flick of her tongue was enough to verify by his sent that this Furret was, in fact, male, and so she went in to claim her prince.
  14.
  15. Even without a distraction along the lines of a fun, noisy pile of leaves, a large, serpentine Pokemon barreling towards one from the treetops is not an easy thing to react to in a timely manner. All the poor Furret could do was squeak in surprise as he was beset by a heavy pile of snake tumbling down on him from above. He cringed, fearing his imminent demise, but as Serperior righted herself from her messy landing and coiled around him far more gently than anticipated, he cracked an eye open and stammered a shaky response.
  16. “O-Oh, um, Lady Serperior, it's you! Y-You really startled me..! Are you, um, n-not planning to eat me? Because I was really afraid that, uh, h-heh..!” Furret sputtered nervously and trailed off, holding his tongue in hopes that Serperior felt kind today.
  17. “Indeed, my lucky little friend,” came the reply. “Today, I mean you no harm. I was simply hoping that you might be able to help me out with a little problem I've been having.”
  18. “P-Problem? What sort of problem, madame?” Serperior hissed out a chuckle.
  19. “'Madame...' Please, there's no need for such formality. Well, as for my problem – Hold on a moment, do you really not know?” She cocked her head, seriously doubting a male wouldn't notice the scent of pheromones and desperation that hung in the air so heavily at this time of year.
  20. “Um, I don't really know all that much other than that I don't seem to have a choice in this matter, ma'a- Er, Serperior...” Another serpentine snicker before she replied again.
  21. “Well, you're right in that regard, at least.” The leafy tip of her tail brushed against his chin teasingly, and she uncoiled from him enough to allow her own movement. “Now, why don't you follow me to someplace more private and we can discuss this further?”
  22. “P-Private? Well... Y-You did say you're not out to eat me today, but...” He remained silent for a moment, guessing wildly at what the self-proclaimed queen of the woods might have wanted out of him. “...Heck, I already said I've got no choice, huh? A-Alright then, um, lead the way?” Smirking to herself, she led him off to a secluded cave not far from the heart of the forest. “Please, step into my den and I'll fill you in.”
