15 - Sara is unresponsive to Doctor Herschel (?), refuses her name.
28 - Sara mentions friends Rachel, who is at Toronto General with her, and Selina, who visits.

December 1997
10 - Sara says Selina doesn’t visit anymore because she is friends with Rachel now. Nurse Margaret gave Sara and Rachel pretty red dresses. Sara chooses name Samantha.

January 1998
? - Danielle Pereira emails Dr. Herschel to say Gloria is finishing Samantha’s paperwork; she will be assigned surname Cross as per orphanage’s standards.

June 2002
? - Shaun Donato’s mom emails him, scolding him about putting their personal information on his blog and chiding him for choice of username “bloodstains.”

July-August 2009 (posted August 2011)
17 - Samantha writes story detailing Hell House (HH) visit with Jason Peterson and Amanda Cooper. HH is on Kirby Rd. They see a headstone with the name Selina on it next to the house; she was hit by a car there in 1993. Gravestone has “I’m a cute kid” on it. “Walking up to the driveway we noticed a tool-shed out front. We tried to get in but the door was locked.”
? - weeks later, Samantha receives invitation to Selina’s birthday party. The address is for HH, which Google search results state was demolished in 2007.
? - Amanda e-journals about weird HH activity. Her mom suggests she move to Raleigh, NC to live with her. She’s seeing Dr. Theodore Raymond, who supports the move. Amanda’s mom is quiet, but comes into her room most nights at 4 am, often screams, sometimes vomits for hours. Dr. Raymond reveals in note to colleague Dr. Anne Hardwick that Amanda’s mom has been dead for 17 years (since Amanda was 4).

August 2010

March 2011
15 - Shaun emails Ross to catch up, talks about Samantha’s party.
19 - Samantha’s party. Shaun sees Old Lady (OL) in the yard; he gets drunk and passes out. Amy texts Samantha for directions to the highway; Samantha replies in Latin, then gives her directions to HH. Amy and Shaun see OL in HH, then almost hit her on the drive home.
28 - Shaun tells Ross he saw OL again in his yard; OL highjacks his account to say awful things; he’s infected.
29 - OL’s face appears on Shaun’s computer; more electronic posession.
30 - Ross tells Shaun to leave him alone. Amy tells Samantha that Shaun threatened her. Samantha tells Amy that Shaun is “like me” now and “chosen,” calls Amy a cheating whore.

April 2011
10 - Shaun details final days on laptop; he’s trapped in a cellar. Dog is outside the door. OL comes and goes.
13 - Shaun kills his dog and is bleeding. OL tells him he’s the catalyst.
18 - Ross tries to contact Shaun after Amy says he’s been missing.
20 - Shaun dies.
24 - Shaun found dead; Jennifer Brooks writes the news story. Amy, Ross and Shaun’s neighbor, John Mallard, are interviewed by police. Ross sees OL in Shaun’s house, then again at police station.
26 - Shaun comments on Ross’ blog, then calls Ross. Ross’ phone stops working; he’s infected. “Tonight I bleed.”

May 2011
11 - Samantha texts Amy to tell her “your time has come.” Latin/gibberish, interrupted by “AMY I’M SORRY.” Amy calls friend Christina (who may not exist?) to discuss her concern for Shaun, who recently hit her, when someone enters her home. Amy calls 911, becomes possessed, shoots and kills cops, then self. Jennifer reports again.

June 2011
2 - Chris Ellis and Caprice rent Shaun’s old house, complain to landlord Steve Carter about prank calls and weird noises at 4 am.
18 - Calls traced to Shaun. Couple sees OL in yard. Chris refers to Caprice as “Amy.”
27 - Chris infected (evidenced via email rant). Finds dead dog in living room. Tells landlord they will stay in the house and they love it.
? - Meanwhile, John Mallard is bothered by possessed Chris at 4 am. Sees Chris and Caprice fighting, cutting each other in yard at 4 am. Becomes infected. Shackles Amelia and Vanessa (wife and daughter) in basement; kills them?

January 2012
21 - Nicole (in Sydney) emails Jason, asking why she hasn’t heard from him.
23 - Redditors email Nicole after seeing above posted. Nicole asks her mom (Cindy Watts) to check on Jason. Bard (/u/BetaSoul) emails Nicole with a warning. Cindy calls Nicole and OL answers. Jason sends Nicole a video of his bloody hand twitching on the floor, facing a door. Nicole promises to return home.
31 - Amanda emails Nicole, saying Jason told her about her and that Jason is fine. Promises “mom” will visit Nicole; Nicole sees OL at her aunt’s (Tabatha Watts) house in Sydney.

February 2012
4 - Nicole is reported missing from Canada
? - /u/bcmn1, /u/Higurashi96 and /u/thenewblueblood post weird things, possibly infected. “Please Read” on a library computer in NC reveals that he kissed Amy on Halloween in 2011 and that he is on the run from OL, who tells him that he has to share his story and kill Amanda in order to “make it stop.”

March 2012
7 - Amanda is rejecting therapy, attacks and bites Dr. Anne Hardwick. Dr. Hardwick transfers Amanda to Dr. Derek Hunt.
9 - Amanda is missing from psychiatric hospital in NC, Dr. Hardwick is infected (evidenced in threatening email to Dr. Hunt).
? - /u/GinNMiskatonics, /u/Bitemarkz and /u/DancingRumBunny all message /u/bloodstains about similar happenings after reading correspondence. /u/GinNMiskatonics posts on Reddit that he saw OL, submissions aren’t going through, tries contacting mods. Possibly kills wife and daughter. /u/Bitemarkz and girlfriend see OL; posts photo.
27 - Samantha texts Nicole and gives her directions to cabin in woods. OL is on train. Nicole becomes infected and stabs herself. Samantha helps?

Julie and Ashlyn find dead body, then Julie is attacked as she leaves a voicemail for Josh. Josh infected; sends text in Latin to Julie (a new cycle begins).
? - /u/silent_tyler (Tyler Cross) posts to Reddit about his friends in high school. He didn’t have any until Aaron Carpenter sat with him. Through Aaron he met Markus, TJ and Ashlyn. They share a blog, which falls into disuse. After Ashlyn visits HH with Julie, she posts weird photos to the blog, then sends weird photos to Tyler. Tyler forgets his friends names, faces, what he did with them. Decides he made it all up. Finds blood on himself and his clothes, doesn’t know where it came from. “She brought me here, and she’s making me share this with you. I trust her, and you should, too. She’s going to save us. My sister didn’t listen. Samantha was always the stubborn one.”
10 - Ashlyn’s body is found, Julie is still missing. Holly Jonovich writes the news report.

September 2013
8 - Aaron discusses OL with Dr. Judah Singer. Says she knows where Julie is.
22 - Aaron emails sister Jemma saying he knows where Julie is. Repeats “Walking up the driveway we noticed a tool-shed out front. We tried to get in but the door was locked.” several times. Jemma tells him to take his meds and see Dr. Singler.
? - Message from more than one year prior sent from /u/GinNMiskatonics to Julie. It’s the correspondence from July 2009 (Samantha’s description of visiting HH that posted in 2011). Message asks if it’s near her.
? - Samantha’s blog details sneaking into Aaron’s car and going with him to HH. He breaks into toolshed and finds Julie. Samantha stabs him in the neck, then tries to saw his head off but fails. She leaves the body with Julie, who hasn’t eaten in a while; post is signed “TC," which may or may not refer to Tyler Cross.

February 2014
? - Toronto General patient journal (anonymous) details going to Rachel’s birthday party. Mutual friend Jesse shows up. Patient has a headache, is a party pooper. Leaves at bar close, sees OL in park, goes home and takes a shower. Sees OL trying to get into the bathroom. Starts bleeding (from face?) and passes out. Wakes up, OL still trying to get in, bangs head on wall repeatedly. Opens bathroom door and OL is there. Entry is 1 of 3 (correspondence:;intervention08). #s 9 and 10 are missing/error opening.
? - #9 posted; in it, patient details waking up, OL is gone. Falls back asleep, dreams of little girl setting house on fire and rescuing baby brother but not parents. Girl goes to abandoned house nearby, appears to be holding an invisible person’s hand. Wakes up, OL is there. Crawls into bed with patient, patient falls out. OL crawls on top of him and chants in his face until he passes out. Dreams same dream, only this time OL is holding an invisible girl’s hand. Little girl is clearly Samantha. Rachel texts patient to say sorry. #10 still missing.
? - #10 posted; in it, patient details walking outside and going to a bar. Orders a beer, suddenly there is a girl sitting across from him in the booth. She introduces herself as Sara and says she knows what’s happening to the patient and can help. Says she knows about Rachel. She leads the patient outside, to a quiet part of the neighborhood, when Rachel calls. She’s crying and apologizing on the other end of the phone. Patient develops another headache. OL appears in the alley with the patient. In an attempt to escape, patient locks himself in a windowless storage closet and vomits from a swelling nausea. OL wrenches the door open and stands there, mumbling in a foreign language. Patient runs and finds Sara. She runs off, leaving her bag; in it is an ID with the name Samantha Cross.

November 2014
? - Writer describes a recurring, cyclical nightmare in which her daughter, Hannah, is abducted by a stranger and locked in the bathroom. When the writer opens the bathroom door, it’s herself holding Hannah inside. She drowns Hannah in the tub before waking.
26 - Emergency call log. Caller identified as Tom Erikson. Panicked, he says that his wife has their daughter, Hannah, and he “can’t get in.” Log ends as the operator says police are on their way.

December 2014
5 - Journal entry from unknown source details weird noises at 4 a.m. Entry is broken up into several parts, interspersed with a series of emails dated November 2, 2014, through November 25, 2014. Emails are between an Ashley Erikson and Tom Erikson.

Emails: On Nov. 2, Tom sends a link to the bloodstains stories, saying they take place not too far from their house. He asks Ashley if she recognizes the names of Samantha Cross, Jason Peterson or Amanda Cooper. She doesn’t.

Entry: Writer describes finding Ashley standing in the corner of the living room, facing the wall.

Emails: On Nov. 12, Tom asks Ashley if she remembers two girls who went missing a few years back, Julie Carpenter and Ashlyn Fenix. Ashley is frustrated with Tom’s focus on the story.

Entry: Ashley bangs her head on the wall repeatedly and whispers, “She’s here.”

Emails: On Nov. 22, Tom apologizes to Ashley in a message with the subject line “Hello???” indicating that they haven’t spoken recently.

Entry: Ashley begins laughing maniacally, writer begins to choke her then rushes to lock the door against whoever “she” is. Writer grabs a knife and advances on Ashley.

Emails: On Nov. 23, Tom begs Ashley to answer him. Ashley responds with an apology, a request that he not email her until she returns from her trip, and a plea to stop reading the story. Tom isn’t satisfied with the response and threatens to come to where she is. Ashley emails back, insisting that Samantha “is killing everybody” to “stop it from spreading.” Email seems to be written by two people/personalities. She begs Tom to visit.

Entry: Writer holds the knife to Ashley’s neck, walks over to the mirror, realizes that Ashley is gone and he’s holding the knife to his own neck.

May 2015
16 - Phone calls between Quinn Greenwell and Asher Cohen, discussing mutual friend named Evan. Evan is revealed to be the patient from the February 2014 anonymous journal entries. Quinn's mobile begins cutting out, so Asher calls Quinn's landline and has a brief conversation. Quinn doesn't realize that he and Asher just had a conversation via Quinn's mobile. Quinn then calls Asher back via mobile, has no recollection of the landline call. Quinn's phone cuts out, goes to static, a mystery voice on Quinn's end says "tur...aroun..." Asher call's Quinn's landline, Quinn says that his mobile is missing, Asher says "she's still here." Asher's line goes to static, a mystery voice on Asher's end says "tu...oun..." Safe to assume that both Quinn and Asher are infected.

October 2015
30 - Apparent conversation between Evan Cohen and what seems to be a doctor. Evan insists the conversation being recorded so he can see if it "ends up on the internet." The doctor assures Evan that this won't happen; their conversation is confidential. Evan describes nightly visits from "her." The two discuss these visits before the conversation dissolves into confusion. Evan may or may not be dreaming. The "doctor" tells Evan to take "her" hand.

August 2016
17-22 - Unidentified reddit user describes how a friend recommended he/she read the bloodstains series on /r/nosleep. User recognized a name from the first installment, which takes place in his/her hometown. User says he/she recognized the name from a murder that occurred around the time the first installment was posted, and thought it was in poor taste that someone would embellish the story and upload it to nosleep. User continues reading, fact-checking as he/she goes along, then finally decides to post to nosleep and see if anyone had come to a similar conclusion. But when user logs in to reddit, his/her username has changed to /u/bloodstains. Decides to post anyway, but clicking the "submit" button apparently does nothing. Smells burning hair as screen refreshes to broken nosleep landing page with an error message about the page being hacked. Smell goes away and screen returns to normal. All stories on landing page are from user's original username, titled with a timestamp and containing increasingly threatening warnings to stop reading, accompanied by photos taken at an ever closer proximity (from outside house to door of room, etc.) Entry ends with details of multiple attempts to submit this post and the phrase, "It's true, just like the rest of them."

31 - Elizabeth Calder repeatedly hits the panic button on her home security system to "check if it's still working." Security staff are frustrated, but do notice a small anomaly at 11:18 p.m.: the basement motion sensor was activated without any of the surrounding sensors being activated.

November 2016
1 - The basement anomaly at Elizabeth Calder's house occurs again at 1:09 a.m. and 1:35 a.m. Elizabeth is presumably already in bed. The motion sensors continue to trigger from the main floor and up the stairs from 1:42 to 1:48 a.m. Panic button is activated at 1:58 a.m.; call is routed to an automated system due to Elizabeth's repeated false alarms. Bedroom window opens at 2:12 a.m. Alarm activates at 2:14 a.m. and is immediately deactivated. Motion sensors are triggered from bedroom, downstairs and back to the basement between 3:36 and 3:41 a.m.

A one-sided cell phone transcript follows; it appears to be from Oct. 18, 2016. All messages are accompanied by "outgoing error. 313"

The sender has many typos at first, then the text clears up. She is talking to someone named Carly. She's complaining about what appears to be her soon-to-be-ex-husband, who she hasn't spoken to since August, saying it's "almost like he forgot he has a daughter." (Note: From context, said daughter appears to be relatively young, perhaps a newborn.) From here, it appears that her messages are changing after she sends them; the changed messages refer to a female entity who wants the sender to "bring her to the basement" and if she doesn't, the female entity will "come and get her." Ends with sender telling Carly that sender hopes Carly dies. "Outgoing error 313" is revealed as "outgoing number does not exist."

18 - 911 phone call transcript details a woman who was found at the bottom of a ravine in Vaughan, Ontario. The woman was unconscious and suffered a number of cuts on her body. She begins coughing up blood before the ambulance arrives and the call is terminated. A second call is placed, presumably from the same phone number, but the caller only speaks in an unintelligible whisper before hanging up. (correspondence.38)

January 2017
25 - Witness Jonas Stanford provides a statement to Ontario Provincial Police in Alliston regarding an injured female he picked up from the side of the road. She had cuts all over her arms and body, and the police's remarks indicate she may have been sexually assaulted. The victim was mumbling about a man in a wooden mask. (correspondence.38)

30 - A blog post at mybleedingcross.wixsite.com details a Sarah Scotsman in Alliston, Ontario, who was startled awake late at night for the fifth night in a row by a man in a wooden mask scratching at her window. On the sixth night (presumably the night preceding the 30th), she waited up for him. He emerged from the woods and reacted when she scratched her breast; she removed her shirt and stayed topless until he left. The next night he tried to get in through her front door, but returned to the window upon realizing it was locked. Sarah teased him by touching herself; he responded by slamming his mask into the window several times. The following night, she left the door unlocked. Sarah was waiting for him, nearly naked. He entered the house (accompanied by a foul stench) and proceeded to half-strangle and rape her. She writes that his skin was moist and cold, his breath rough and hollow-sounding. He had a deep, almost inhuman growl.

Sarah blacks out and has a vision about "standing in flames beside the girl in the red dress," accompanied by memories of sexual abuse while in foster care. She awakens to discover that she is bleeding profusely. The wall is covered in bloodstains. She is woken up once more by a scratching at her window. Blog post ends. 32 - An account from what appears to be wix user Sarah Scotsman on Oct. 32, 2017, details a series of memories/hallucinations that result in Sarah bleeding from cuts to her arm and foot. As she stumbles around her house and her memories/hallucinations, a mysterious figure at the door rings her doorbell incessantly. Post closes with garbled repetition of a phrase referring to a gap in the timeline, and a plea for help putting it together. [Editor's note: Hopefully this chronological retelling will help someone solve the mystery.]
