A Moment of Peace is about a teenager who loses his mother to the first recorded killing by a fluffy pony.
Fluffy Side is that story from the fluffy's perspective.  A tale about the killer herd's smarty friend and how she became the single most infamous fluffy in the world for a time.


Be a fluffy pony.
Specifically a female earth fluffy with an ash grey body and even darker mane/tail.
Mommy and Daddy call you Sable, its a pretty name you like very much.
They're your human parents, a very long time ago a big man took you from your fluffy mummeh when you were just a foal.
It's hard to remember what she looked like, but  her scent stays with you to this day.
Thinking about her makes you sad but mommy and daddy give you lots of love and hugs when thoughts of mummeh make you cry.
Sometimes you cry a bit just so they'll give you more hugs and treats but they don't need to know that.
Mommy makes grey rings with her mouth and you try and catch them.
They always disappear when you bite them though, and the funny smell makes you sneeze.
Daddy lets you lay on his chest and gives you nice scratchies behind your ears.
They're the best hoomans in the whole world!
And you're the best fluffy too, you know because they say so.
You always use your littler box, never try to steal nummies and stay off the street even if your ball runs away from you.
Well... you do most of those things, but you're smart enough to hide it when doing something naughty.
In truth your humans know all about it when you manage to "trick" them, they just don't mind letting you think you've gotten away with something.
The fluffies next door talk about the "sorry stick" that gives bad fluffies ouchies.
You wouldn't know anything about that, you're a good fluffy and mommy and daddy love you very much.

You play lots of games, blocks, ball, chasing the red dot but your favorite is exploring the back yard.
Mommy and daddy don't want you outside by yourself but you found a way around that.
The back door screen slides back and forth!
Only a smart fluffy like you could have found out about that.
This is something your humans really don't know of, they love you too much to leave such a dangerous thing open.
Whenever your parents are out, you like to play in the grass and nibble on daddy's pretty flowers.
He gets mad about something eating them, but you keep quiet about that too.
There's so much to see and do in your back yard!
And sometimes the neighbor's fluffies are out playing as well, those are the best days of all.
Well, daddies scratchies behind your ears might be a little better.
Or the days when mommy makes everyone sketties!
You have a lot of really good days.

Today you were watching the big vroomy things that carry humans around through the fence.
Then something really unexpected happened.
A new fluffy came into your yard!
Well not really new, you've talked with her lots of times through the fence, but her being inside is new!
Of course the first thing you did was give her big huggies and make friends.
Her name is Daisy, its a pretty name like yours.
She was really nice to you, and gave you some nummies from deep inside the white fluff on her back.
It was a chocolate nummie!
Oh you love chocolate nummies more than anything.
Except sketties, or scratchies with daddy, or your ball...
Well it was still really really good!
She said there were lots more chocolate nummies close by, all you had to do is follow her.
Mommy and daddy always say never try to leave the house without asking first.
But you're already outside, so it's ok right?
She waddles behind the little white house where daddy keeps the loud grass eating monster.
You stay inside when it's eating.
The white fence goes all the way around your yard, but under a bush there's a little hole just big enough for you to squeeze through.
You don't want your humans to be mad but Daisy says there's lots more chocolate nummies really close!
She's so nice for sharing her nummies with you.
It's only a few minutes of walking before you find yourself side by side with Daisy in an alleyway, old boxes and garbage strewn all around.
To you, it smells yikkiy and that's enough reason to want to leave.
Daisy says its just up ahead though and you really like those chocolate nummies.
And you're a smart fluffy, finding your way back will be easy.

This is all wrong.
The nummies, your new friend, and now this big group of fluffies before you, its all wrong.
Daisy didn't have any more chocolate treats, when you asked the others if they had a grey unicorn even darker than you spoke up.
"Yu gud fwuffy, Dwsk says yu nao pawt o' Dwsk's hewd."
Part of a herd?  Oh... mommy and daddy might not like that, they always tell you not to play with strange fluffies.
You're a good fluffy so you always listen.
"Sabew nu can pway wif hewd, nee' go home or mummeh an daddeh be mad wif Sabew."
There, now that the misunderstanding has been cleared up it's ti- *Thump*
You're on your side before the pain even registers, but that doesn't take long.
"Owwie!  Why huwt fwuffy?  Sabew am best fwuffy, mummeh an daddeh teww so!
"Yu nu need dummy hoomans, Dwsk is smawty fwiend an hewd do wha' Dwsk say!"
One of his friends bucked you in the side, eliciting a cry of pain but you're a little bigger than the average fluffy begin staggering back up to your tiny hooves faster than anyone would expect.
"She tink she twuffy fwuffy, buck hew hawd."
The second kick sends waves of nausea through your tiny frame, forcing up the nummies you left home for.
*Koff koff* OWWIE!  Pwease nu huwt, Sabew gif huggies if nu huwt, nu... nu make sikkies, is gud fwuffy."
There's so many fluffies of all breeds and colors, none look too friendly like a fluffy should.
Even Daisy is frowning at you.
"Why fwiend wan weave?  Hewd is betta an nu meanie hoomans keepn' best nummies an gif sowwy stick tu gud fwuffies."
Several heads nod in agreement and Dusk nuzzles her a bit before turning back to you.
"Hooman munstas a'ways haf bestest foodies, neva shawe wif fwuffies, haf bad tummie owwies cuz' gweedy hooman."
Again the herd nodded and murmered in accord.
Dusk loomed over you.  "Hewd weavin' nao, fin' gwassies an hooman nummies fo' mummahs.  Me smawty fwiend an' yu membah of hewd.

Yu name Gwit nao an yu haf babbehs an hewd be stwongest!"
Grit?  That doesn't sound nice at all!  No no no this is all one big mistake!
And how he said it... like that's how things are no matter what.
You're a smart fluffy, you know you have to run.
It's time to go back to mommy and daddy.
"Nu gwit, am Sabew an am goin' fin' mummeh an' daddeh fo' WUV an HUGGIES!"
Stumbling to leave you see lots of fluffies already in the way.
In fact, there are fluffies all around you.
"Gwit stiw nu un'stan.  Hewd hewp so gwit kno' pwace."
They all came at once.
Pulling, pushing, biting, poking, kicking.
You cried out for them to stop, no fluffy did.

Your beating went on for what seemed like all afternoon.
Why did this happen?
By the end you were missing large tufts of fluff from your back and rear, your sides ache from kicks.
Part of your tail had been ripped off.
Daisy herself pulled your left ear so hard it tore along the base and hangs limply to the side.
Your face is all swollen and the bite marks on your muzzle drip boo boo juice constantly.
But your pee pee place, thats what hurts most of all.
Dusk told the stallions it was time for special hugs, that you needed babies.
Before today you'd have loved to have your own babies, little bundles of fluff and love to hug and play with.
You had heard of special hugs from the neighbor fluffies, and that it gave a really good feel.
They must have been thinking about something else.
These hugs from behind were at first just uncomfortable as most of the stallions let all their weight rest on your injured body.
What came next spurred you on to try and kick him off, hurt as you already were.
It was like your pee pee place was being ripped and no matter how much you pleaded for him to stop, the pain kept coming.
When you almost pushed him away, a dark brown fluffy called Red Eyes bucked your face so hard you couldn't even see anymore.
Worse still, once that stallion said something about the "good feel" another shoved his way onto you and started all over again.
You don't know how many of them gave you special hugs that afternoon but it felt like every fluffy in the world.
The pain, be betrayal, it just hurts so much.
You wanted it to end more than anything in he world.
So you closed your eyes, and it all just faded away.
Goodbye house.
Goodbye happiness
Goodbye, mommy and daddy.

After who knows how long it ended.
Dusk stood before you, looking down at you with Daisy, Red Eyes and and the rest of the herd behind them.
He said your humans didn't come to help because they didn't love you anymore.
That they had thrown you out and his herd found you bleeding and hurt.
Is that what happened?
He is a smarty friend, so it must be true.
Mommy and Daddy abandoned you because they don't care.
Mommy and Daddy don't love you.
Then he smiled and gave you big hugs, despite all the bruises and hurties it felt good.
He asked your name.
You're a smart fluffy.
You knew it was Grit, and you were a member of his herd.
He asked why you're crying, you said it's the hurties, and because mommy and daddy threw you away.
He said you're a member of his herd now, and they don't matter.
Yes, yes that's right, THEY don't love you, it's THEIR fault you have hurties.
Stupid mommy and daddy.
Dusk is right, he's a good fluffy.
You stop crying and other fluffies help you up.
No, your herd helps you up, it's time to leave this place and find nummies.
You don't mention the hurties deep inside, they're mommy and daddies fault anyway.
You hope they go away soon.
