- How things should be:
- There needs to be a clear and consistent message on whether the Patron perk still applies and if the patch is accepted by the IRC community.
- Characters should be able to serve one, two, or zero patrons (including Puchuu).
- It should be clear how the Puchuu doc interacts with the Patron doc.
- Patron mechanical benefits should be roughly balanced.
- How things are with just the Patron doc:
- The number of additional benefits and drawbacks is tied to your patron, which obviously assumes that you have just one.
- The only Patrons with mechanical benefits are Deities and Beacon. Deities gives an absurd +1 to STR, AGI, and VIT, and Beacon gives +1 LCK via Fake Parents.
- Some Universal Benefits are fantastic (stat gains, Mystic Artifact), others are unspecific (Mana Font) and others are just fluff.
- How things are with the Puchuu doc added to the mix:
- Puchuu girls get a random stat bonus via Motivation. They also get some highly variable value out of the Puchuu perks and powers, assuming their Puchuu accompanies them.
- What's the most a Mahou could get from their Puchuu? Probably +1 to a key stat; +1 to a spec stat, +1 to a single defense roll, teleportation (out of combat) while with your Puchuu.
- Interaction with the Patron doc is completely unclear. Do we add all the benefits and drawbacks together? If I rolled Isolated on the Puchuu doc, should I take it on the Patron doc?
- Now let's tack on a Patron patch:
- Patron perk is removed! Except it's actually not removed in the PDFs and nobody likes Rival anyways. Instead we all get to live with ambiguity here.
- Lesser Forces get an irrelevant buff. Deities still OP. Beacon gets nerfed because Fake Parents is too good :^)
- All of the Universal Benefits with mechanical benefits are removed, then a new one gets added
- O-okay, now Sanctification rules:
- Overwrites Patron doc benefits, but the Patron benefits are mostly just story-related. On the other hand it doesn't replace the Puchuu doc, which does provide several mechanical benefits.
- MAG characters get a sweet +2 bonus to their specialization spells against corrupted targets. Other stat builds can just die for all we care.
- You're forced to defend against magic used by corrupted beings. That's cool and makes sense, unless you have Third Eye and know what their spell does.
- Stat bonuses informally removed from the perks.
- It's not really obvious whether people who "Embrace the spark!" also get the "Just a little" benefits. Presumably yes.
- As it is, Sanctification is just a bit better than having a Puchuu from the Puchuu doc.
