Traits:
Sidereal was found as a foal on the steps of the Temple of
Ascending Harmony, by the elderly Master Rising Ocean, ancient
and wise beyond words. Being without parents to be found, the
old Master took him in and rose him as his own. He taught him
the ways of the Monk, how to purity your thoughts of confusion,
how to make your body strong and mighty and solid like the
mountains, yet light like feathers and flowing like water. He
led him in all the paths of self-mastery, and Sidereal soon rose
above and beyond the initiates he was trained with.

One day, Changling barbarians came from the Northern Mountains,
and attacked the Temple. Though Rising Ocean was well versed in
every god-form and perfect like jade, the vile insects filtered
over the walls and into the courtyard, overpowering the elderly
and ancient donkey, tossing his fat form to the floor. As the
Changling Queen Ainextreplex rose over him, intending to suck
the love from his veins, he blinded her with his Compassion, and
escaped the world in a rain of lily petals, leaving nothing for
the foul creature to consume. Defeated and despairing, the Monks
fled, and Sidereal with them.

Sidereal forsook the pacifistic and self-defense oriented
teachings of the Harmonic Temple, and created new doctrines. He
would force Harmony. Rallying his brothers, they began training
for war. The old masters shook their heads, and many left. But
the young remained, and Sidereal taught them the ways of war,
and they perfected themselves with harsh training in the intense
heat and cold frost of the Southern Deserts.

The Monks then heard word, that Ainextreplex was again on the
move, heading towards the great Zebraic Empire. The Monks
mobilized, and successfully cut off the Changlings when they
assaulted the small village of Twin Rivers. The now-warlike
Monks managed to remove the insects, deflecting their assault
and shattering their resolve.

As the conflicts continued, the Monks gained more and more
renown, as word of a few dozen Zebra defending entire villages
through masterful planning and excellent strategy spread.
Eventually the Changlings were forced back into the mountains,
and Sidereal was honored by the Zebraic Empire with honors. He
took these honors to the Northern Mountains, forming the Great
Temple of The Sidereal Monks, based on the principles of social
order, legitimate authority, personal self-discipline, and and
total mastery of the martial arts for the purposes of war,
especially against the Changling menace.

Years later, Sidereal again went to war with the Empire, this
time against the Horse Lords of the Far East. By using the
terrain to his advantage, Sidereal destroyed their large numbers
and extreme mobility, getting them to run face-first into large
ditch traps set up around major settlements as traps. To do this
he had several villages completely destroyed for materials, and
the people relocated, earning him a reputation for sacrifice. It
was after this the Empire gave him the title of "Glorious
Strategist" and invited him to take his place as a General. He
refused, and went back to his Monks seeking enlightenment
through personal combat and ruthless self-examination.

Many many years later Sidereal led his Monks and large groups of
mercenaries into the northern mountains in the War Of
Righteouness, exterminating the Changlings completely, down to
the last foal and egg, burning everything to a crisp. Fifteen
hives fell and over three thousand zebra gave their lives, but
the Changling threat was completely removed from the Central
Zebraic Empire and the numerous small tribes that surround it.
It is said at this point Sidereal achieved enlightenment,
perfect mastery of self. He took the title Grand Master of
Flowers immediately after Queen Ainextreplex's hive was burned
to the ground. Grand Master Sidereal personally executed her
when she attempted to escape, in a battle that lasted twelve
hours, from dawn to dusk.

It was within a few months of the end of the War of Righteouness
that Princess Luna arrived on Zebra shores. Hearing her renown,
Grand Master Sidereal volunteered himself and a few divisions of
the Empire, and roughly half his remaining Monks, to join the
assault on Equestria, along with several other nations and
tribes on the continent. The Princess thought the Glorious
Strategist's knowledge of strategy and warfare, especially
against Changlings, would come in handy. She made him one of her
military advisers on her war council, and he eagerly awaits the
assault on Manehatten.

Sidereal is patient, analytic, and orderly to a fault. He
despises brashness and impatient action, preferring to find the
most prudent and efficient solution to the problems of war. He
is a capable diplomat, silver-tongued and good at argument, and
knows how to turn his ideas on his enemies so they agree to
terms they think they thought of themselves. He wears a long
elaborate robe/gi and is over 100 years old. Due to his magical
ki and potent life energy, he appears to be only in his early
thirties. He is a competent bureaucrat, having worked with and for
the Imperial Bureaucracy during his many stays at the capital of
Zunghtanka. He acknowledges powerful beings such as alicorns as
"deva", roughly translatable to "god" or "divine being", but
does not worship them. His favorite food is apples, which he has
only had on very rare occasions, as they are not native to his
country.
