Extella spoilers (All routes + Material)

Moon Altera and Giant God Altera are the same thing.

Earth Altera was an avatar of Giant God Altera sent to Earth 14,000 years ago. She defeated most of the gods but was killed by a holy sword. Her backup brain was excavated and became Attila Altera. When Attila Altera died her memories were sent back to the Moon/Giant God Altera, which altered her personality to become like Attila Altera's.

Servant Altera (the one fought in Extella) is an avatar of Giant God and is the same being, while also being the servant version of Attila Altera.

Sefar is the Giant God form of Attila Altera reverted to Earth Altera's giant form.

Also Altoria isn't in the main plot at all, she's Mystery Heroine A who only shows up in Gawain's side shit.

Iskandar was summoned by Moon Cell, and he was just fucking around and didn't get serious when fighting Altera and lost and decided that since he lost to her he has to follow her.

Jeanne was also summoned by Mooncell. Her Ruler skills let her see Altera's conflicting feelings and she decides to join Altera to watch what becomes of her.

Gilgamesh is summoned by nobody and tears through space to show up by himself. He joins Altera because he owes her a favour from 14,000 years ago.

Attila Altera's obssession with Mars comes from lost memories of how she defeated the original God of War and stole his sword as the giant Earth Altera. When the Hun elders educated her she asked them if there was a name for a god of war, and they told her it was Mars, and from then on she started calling her sword the Sword of Mars.

I think that's all the interesting stuff from the Material that hadn't been posted yet (that I hadn't yet seen posted, at least).

the three ships thing is not referring to Altera herself. They're actual literal drop pods containing weapons like Altera.

Each of the weapons is based on an entire civilization that Velber wiped out.

Velber and Mooncell were made by different aliens, and Velber/Sefar has nothing to do with Mooncell (that's not a Mooncell in her chest, etc.)

Events of Extra happened with Hakuno contracted to both Nero AND Tamamo (Nero as main, Tamamo as sub servant), but as mentioned in the game Tamamo somehow got separated from Hakuno and Nero (she says Nero kicked her off a bridge or something) and so it was only Nero and Hakuno VS Twice.

The events of CCC DID happen but Hakuno can only barely remember what happened. The only other mentions of CCC are in Gilgamesh and Elizabeth's profiles; They remember the events entirely. Events of CCC is another reason why Gilgamesh joins Altera (no further explanation).

Hakuno was supposed to have been erased by Mooncell but their wish was to change the rules of SeRaPh itself so that instead of erasing anything with a fulfilled role, it would let them seek a new role, and thus let them not get erased.

I've only cleared Nero's route but it ends with Body Hakuno deciding to die alongside Sefar/Altera which results in Mind (and probably Soul though not seen) Hakuno dying as well (because the mind and soul cannot exist on their own for long; they need to fuse with at least one of the others to do so).

Post credits is Hakuno sleeping on a throne, and unspecified amount of time has passed and Nero managed to somehow salvage Hakuno's data with the power of the new Regalia. It's implied that Hakuno's been sleeping for a really long time with Nero watching over all along.

Hakuno can actually hear what Nero's saying and wants to wake up and respond to her, but can't.

The end.

It seems that body Hakuno doesn't have memories at all. Mind and soul had problems remembering names and such but still remembered the servants, but body doesn't even recognise Nero.

Nero does mention that she hopes she'll be able to fight Velber again alongside Hakuno.

Which suggests that Velber's coming again.

Also, Altera is way stronger than Nero but Nero manages to defeat her in a duel because she uses her NP and Altera is too dazzled at how beautiful the theatre and Nero are to do anything.

Cleared Tamamo's route. It ends with Hakuno and Tamamo's date, and post credits is just Archimedes sliding to a new world.

They don't really emphasise the need for Hakuno to fuse back together in this route (if at all, can't recall it actually being mentioned), but the entire theme of the route is about Tamamo being eternal and Hakuno being human, and how their being together has to come to an end sometime, and they do come to their own conclusion on that matter and decide to stay happy together till that time comes.

Tamamo knows about Velber and expected it to eventually show up and wipe out everything and she even actually gives up when Sefar shows up, until Hakuno convinces her to keep fighting.

Started on Altera's route.

The favour Gilgamesh owes Altera isn't a personal one, but one passed down to him from his forefathers, from before he was born.

Giant God Altera elaborates on her skill to absorb mana

She absorbs the mana in everything man-made she destroys. This includes, technology, knowledge, and civilization itself.

Cleared Altera's route

Archimedes joins Nero's side and they attack the lightless zone, Archimedes managing to seal away Giant God Altera with his hacking skills.

Servant Altera vapourizes Nero with the Teardrop Photon Ray, getting the third Regalia and part of Hakuno, but Archimedes kidnapped Hakuno and wants the Regalias. Gilgamesh Gate of Babylons him from behind saying that technically he was only helping Hakuno out all this time, so he still owed Altera this one favour, and leaves.

Servant Altera and Hakuno defeat Archimedes but he awakens Giant God Altera as Sefar. Servant Altera defeats Sefar, and because she's a part of her, also dies.

Hakuno uses all three Regalias to find some way to do something and discovers the whole parallel world sliding thing Archimedes has been doing (he let it slip while doing his "look at me I'm a villain and these are my plans" thing).

Hakuno sends a portion of their memories back in time to the parallel world Archimedes left for, and dies in the process because time travel is tougher than parallel world sliding.

No post credits scene.

Also if you resume each route after clearing it

Nero- Nero is speaking to Hakuno on the throne, saying that this is a dream where they can go back and relive the time they spent together

Tamamo- Direct continuation of the ending, where they can look at records of previous battles

Altera- Giant Altera points out that she's dead and so is Hakuno, and this is an illusion Hakuno is seeing in the moments before disappearing completely.


It's stated several times that it was a human that defeated Sefar.

Then again servants are sometimes referred to as humans too (as in not space aliens) so eh.

Sefar also corrupts animals, turning them into crazy warped giant monsters.

True route.

Nero mentions how Tamamo was originally their opponent from the fourth round of the grail war, the servant of Atrum Galliasta.

Altera also says that even though the gods couldn't beat her, she was defeated in the end by a bunch of humans (albeit one of whom had a holy sword).

The holy sword isn't actually stated to be Excalibur at any point but it does have the exact same description (created in the inner sea of the planet, etc.)

True route starts at the same point as Nero's, except that Hakuno starts with all the memories from Altera's route.

Archimedes comes in and gives his speech and Hakuno immediately reveals everything and Nero beats the shit out of him (he manages to escape), and they decide to go team up with Tamamo to save the world.

Sefar absorbs anything she destroys, and turns animals into giant monsters to serve as her army.

The 16 meter Sefar fought in the first three routes (just started on the true route) is Sefar's default, base form before absorbing anything.

If you're talking about in their routes, it's because of the Regalias which give them all the power of Mooncell.

The grail war was actually a method of choosing a champion to fight Velber for Mooncell, and the Regalia gives that champion all of its power.

Also, Moon Altera is the "real" one while the Earth one was an avatar that she could remake.

The way the invasion worked was:

1- Velber purged a dropship that hit the moon, containing a digital lifeform (Altera). The room of stone giant Altera sits in is its "cockpit".

2- Moon Altera attacked Mooncell while sending a physical avatar to Earth as well

3- Upon everything being destroyed/absorbed, Altera was supposed to return to the dropship and send all the data there, and then die

Instead the Earth Altera was defeated which also caused Moon Altera to go down for a bit, during which Mooncell sealed her in the lightless zone.

True route. Nero mentions that in SERAPH it's the soul that forms the core of a being, and that Tamamo's soul Hakuno would probably have been able to survive without combining with the others.

So yeah Tamamo route ending means Hakuno never dies, and since Mooncell's jamming is working Velber won't be attacking Earth either. Details from later routes make it out to be a good ending with no repercussions for Tamamo and soul Hakuno at all.

Cleared the true route.

Nero uses the sword not to connect to the war god but to the god of love and beauty. Her NP is the anti-planet Charitas Domus Aurora. She also cuts off the link between Altera and Velber while destroying Velber's core.

Liz climbs out of the rubble, still corrupted as Elizabeth Void.

SERAPH continues expanding and emulating the surface world. NPCs gain sentience. Humans also start coming to the moon, not just wizards but also regular people from the surface, as refugees.

Karna is just hanging out in Tamamo's city. Rider either started a shop or is helping out some NPC's shop. Lu Bu disappeared. Cu Chulainn left to look for someone. Gawain left saying he wants to retrain himself. Li Shuwen just laughs and leaves. Archer stayed behind but is rarely seen. Gilgamesh and Jeanne haven't been seen (Iskander dies when defeated by Nero earlier on).

The war god was beaten by Sefar, Velber is referring to the actual shard of the comet (which also gets punched by giant Altera before Nero goes in and blows up the cores).

By the way, I saw Nasu's blog posts. It's stated that Extella is the start of a new series.


Altera is the name she used because she didn't like "Attila" so yeah, it came way later.

Archimedes persists in calling Giant God Altera "Sefar".

Oh, and the last scene is Archimedes (still alive) still being ominous, babbling about how the Velber's main body is still out there and that it'll reach here eventually.

So yeah this isn't the end.

 Oh and Altera's siblings will probably be nothing like her design-wise as it's stated that each of the three is made from a different civilization previously destroyed by Velber.  They're referred to as a younger sister and older brother.

 Resuming the true route after clearing it has Nero telling Hakuno what happened in the grail war (because some memories are permanently lost since body Hakuno had to die for the whole time travel memory thing to work). No names are mentioned but 125 of the 128 participants died; Hakuno did manage to save lives.

Postgame Nero also mentions Seneca and Simon Magus, and how the latter said she could have succeeded as a mage too.

Altera's experiences as a human were also sent back to the cyber (moon) Sefar which saw them as a dream, and influenced it enough to turn it into Altera (Moon Altera/Giant God Altera).

Oh right in the true route Tamamo does go on to drop a few lines to make it sound like Amaterasu definitely was present 14,000 years ago, but she also has a line saying that the gods (神々) were from before they became divine spirits (神霊).

Also the war god Altera/Sefar defeated is stated to have "later been defined as Ares and Mars". And he's special because he was the first, last, and only strong enemy she actually had to fight. (Guess the holy sword was a one hit kill or something which wasn't a real fight?)

Yes, quantum time locks, there are lots of important points in time where history is fixed and can't be changed anymore.

Archimedes still has his admin sliding powers but can't do anything right now in the ending because they're past the quantum time lock which means he can't change the outcome of Verber 02 being defeated.

Either way the only entity Sefar ever acknowledged as a rival was the war god she defeated (she says he's the first, last, and strongest enemy she ever fought), not the holy sword user.

She also does point out how weird it is that she got defeated by a tiny human when all the gods together couldn't stop her.


Extella defines the gods Altera fought as embodiments of nature/the world (furigana world over nature)

The war god is to be precise a god of conflict and battle.

The wording makes it sound like they're avatars of concepts. Tamamo mentions death jobbing to Sefar.

In Japanese, there is no distinction between planet and star. That's why Earth is constantly referred to as a star in Japanese media. In Type Moon context you can look at Excalibur's description.

Also someone higher up said something about Sefar being able to grow exponentially but IIRC the Material says 1024 is her limit.

Extella does refer to Iskander and Jeanne as Top Servants (トップサーヴァント), that are supposed to be the strongest servants Mooncell can summon.

Gilgamesh summons himself and Mooncell probably doesn't want to summon him for obvious reasons.

Jeanne doesn't get anything in the main story and doesn't even seem to have joined Altera at any point, but according to the Material Jeanne used her Ruler powers to see what Altera is like and is watching to see what she'll do.

Gilgamesh is there because of Hakuno.

When Nero defeats Iskander she says she knows who he is and asks why he's with Altera. He says that as a conquerer he too destroyed a lot of things, but it was all for other reasons. Altera carries out destruction for destruction's sake which is warped, and he can't bear to watch her. He thus wants to show her the true meaning of battle by example, for her to see him fight and die. Of course, he isn't sure if she's actually watching, but he's just doing it anyway.

Gil owes Altera a favour to help her out once (only fulfilled at the very end), and calls himself her "lieutenant" (she doesn't acknowledge him as such at any point) and leads her armies because of Hakuno.

He shows up in SERAPH in the first place because he'd heard about Sefar and wants to fight her, immediately acknowledging Altera as a worthy opponent for Ea. He ends up tagging along because Altera refuses to transform.

Gawain says Archer reminds him of Agravain.

Gawain ending

Gawain tells Artoria about his regrets. Artoria asks if he managed to get his wish granted here in Mooncell, and he tells her about Leo, and says that his first life and its mistakes and his second life where he pledged loyalty to one who wasn't his king may be worthy of punishment, and that if Artoria asks him to end his third life here and now he'd gladly do so. She tells him to remain as the Knight of the Sun, and says that even if he serves another king, she'll be proud of him. Also, once the forces of destruction are gone, she'll leave the moon, and tells him to live on as he pleases when that happens, and that he should serve Hakuno who will be a good king. He acknowledges her order and calls her his eternal king.

Selecting Jeanne's scenario pops up a tutorial window that says using La Pucelle will kill her.

Jeanne's route has her talking to Altera and figuring out that she's fighting to save her master (a scene that was notably missing from the main story) and doesn't derive pleasure from destruction.

Jeanne seems to be the shittiest character in the game, all her moves except the dash attack are slow, have shit reach, and her NP kills her.

Lu Bu route

All of Lu Bu's lines have translations

Lu Bu: (Now when should I kill this stupid fox?)
Tamamo: "Lu Bu, I'm moved by your loyalty! Go ahead and wipe out the invaders!"

Karna and Medusa seem to understand what he's saying (Elizabeth doesn't) but Medusa stops Karna from telling her.


Reading the Material again

There's emphasis on how Altera leading to the creation of Attila the Hun only worked this way in the Extra world (wording-wise it seems to suggests that Attila exists in some other form in other worlds?)


Top Servant doesn't literally mean strongest. It's just a name for "Mooncell's final defence mechanism", servants it summons to defend itself. Gilgamesh isn't one because Mooncell didn't summon him, for example.

Similarly, "Anticell" is just the name for Velber's vanguard invasion weapons (Altera and her siblings) which aren't actually anti anything, let alone cells.

Blame Nasu.

Void cells are the stuff that make up Velber 02's core.

I was misremembering when I previously said Nero summoned her servants; They're solo servants (independent servants with no masters) summoned by Mooncell that have to listen to her because of the Regalia's authority (though Gawain seems to be the only caze where this is necessary)

Cu isn't said to be a top servant in the Material and I don't recall them saying so in the game either.

The animals mutated By Sephar to become Velber's minions are called Sentinels.

Further explanation on the personaloties of split Hakuno:

Mind- Personality formed by experience. Passion. Active. Has normal morality and sense of justice.

Soul- Personality unchanged by experience. Nature. Passive. Has transcendental values and ability to make decisions.

Body- Personality as a vessel. Instinct. A new personality formed when the mind and soul left.

Giant Altera's bed is the roof a temple she once conquered and thought looked comfy.
There are of course secrets under her bed.
They wanted to make a dungeon inside the temple but ran out of funds.

The war god is described as "that which would later become the concept of war gods". Her victory over him is the source of the Greek legend of Athena defeating Mars.

She didn't kill the gods but drove them back (撤退させた = made them retreat).

Gawain only respects Hakuno and actually openly disrespects Nero from the very beginning of the game.

Velber dropped three ships. Altera's landed on the moon, it's unknown where the other two landed.

Tamamo figured out everything while Hakuno was still asleep and just pretends not to know. She knew Archimedes was the mastermind the moment she saw him too.

Giant Altera's Familiar Creation EX skill is used to make her avatars, not actual familiars.

Giant Altera's mana absorbtion skill converts any mana that has been modified by technology, knowledge or civilization into HP and armour points.

Any form of attack or interference thought up with intelligence only makes Altera stronger.

The strongest magecraft spells and tactical weapons made with technology are just fuel to the flame.

Pure mana like life energy is still absorbed slightly but does have an effect. The best way to defeat an Anticell is by hitting it with physical attacks only.

The only thing really effective is the energy released by a holy sword.

Nameless is a mystery servant who helps Hakuno for reasons that cannot be known to regular people. Unknown who summoned him. Is here to help Hakuno and had no loyalty to Nero personally, but helps her out anyway for good measure. He comes from "a different ending" and thus can tell that Archimedes can't be trusted.

His goal is to avoid the worst ending he saw, and to return to his own place.

The ending he saw took place in the far far future of Extella. Even in this world, he's come from a wrong future.

Shuwen would have joined Tamamo if she asked first. Either way he believes in honour and is loyal to whoever he has agreed to serve.

Robin Hood was forced to join Tamamo's side with the Regalia and she zaps him with lightning whenever he disobeys her, and he's know a yes man. Aims to defeat Tamamo as soon as he gets the chance and to sell the Regalia for cash. Falls in love with Medusa in his side story. -Text found on Nasu's PC

By the way I did Archimedes' sub story (it's just him checking out Velber-02 and corrupting himself) and it did clarify what Extella is supposed to mean.

It means "outside Earth".
